Since last report my avatar...

...returned the unicorn horn to Direnni Tower.

...rescued a woman from a dungeon for the Temple of Kynareth. This task was far easier than it might have been. For once, my after managed to take all the right (as in "correct", not direction) passage branches, soon finding his target. He didn't bother to cast recall afterward, so easy was the exit to find.

...began an assignment to dispose of an orc leader for the Knights of the Dragon. This mission is proving the opposite of the rescue assignment. He's roamed and roamed, found and dispatched lots of orcs, but not yet unearthed the leader. He looted 3,770 gold off one frost or fire daedra, possibly a new record for single-kill gold drops. For him at least.
Decrepit
Brand spanking new capture (as of this posting date) of my Daggerfall avatar at lvl 26, which he just recently achieved, though I neglected to report it until now:
IPB Image
He was promoted to Master Wizard within the Mages Guild minutes prior to capturing the image. This allows him to use the Guild's teleportation service. As to the level-up, he put one point in END and five in WIL. Can't be seen on the capture, but his chestpiece has, amongst other things, a nice long-lasting castable regen enchantment. The weapon has a paralyze on hit enchant. The shield has some sort of castable spell reflect enchantment, which he almost never uses. The shield might also sport a featherweight enchantment.

In other news, he at last disposed of an orc leader the Knights of the Dragon tasked him to dispatch. Turns out the target was fairly near the entrance/exit, down a tunnel branch my avatar didn't take during his initial exploration. Good thing too, as my avatar forgot to set an anchor at the exit.

Mission accomplished he returned to Daggerfall City, paid for Destruction practice at the Temple of Kynareth, sold loot (several Daedric weapons and a lesser quality but still valuable weapon), banked, self-trained restoration at the Fighters Guild until the following morning, received promotion and paid for Destruction training at the Mages Guild, and is now about to solicit a task from that organization.

08/12/2016 ADDENDUM:
My avatar's MG assignment proved easy. He was tasked to retrieve research papers from a fellow in another town and bring them to the Guild Hall. A slight complication...another organization wanted him to give the papers to them rather than the Guild, and threatened dire consequences should he not do so. If you know any of my serval Elder Scrolls avatars you know his response.

For the Fighters Guild he has been tasked to dispose of a stray gargoyle holed up in one of that kingdom's numerous dungeons. No luck finding his target there so far, though he's gotten some very nice Deadric drops that will make the run very profitable indeed.
Renee
Well good luck finding that gargoyle. I like that stat sheet, or "spread sheet" as Todd would call it.

Hey y'all, I can't figure out the final Arena word-puzzle, so I'm going to use one of my lifelines, and Ask the Audience. I'm going to show you the puzzle, and then you folks can try to guess the answer, okay? Because I can't get it, and I refuse to cheat.

This will be done on an honor system, so no Googling, okay? hehe.gif Here is the puzzle

From the beginning of eternity,
To the end of time and space,
To the beginning of every end,
And the end of every place

And here are the answers I have tried so far....

If you folks wanna help me, I will try your answers one by one. Then we'll all have a big party full of cake when somebody gets the answer correct.

You are trying to hard, and being too philosophical about your answers. Try to be more simple and direct. The answer is literally right in the four lines of the riddle. And I do mean it is literally there, in each line.

You also had it right twice, but kept typing.

The answer's quite obvious but as SubRosa says, don't bother too much with the semi-philosophical stuff the riddle seems to be about because in fact it's not, it's just there to confuse you wink.gif

Since last report, my avatar...

...removed scorpions from a shoppe as requested by a Daggerfall City private citizen.

...advanced the Emperor's mission. This saw him visit three sites outside the Kingdom of Daggerfall. The third of these proved frustrating. He had been there twice very recently. Neither time did he have trouble reaching his objective. Yet this last time he searched and searched and searched before finally stumbling on it. Making matters worse, after all was said and done, preparing to return to Daggerfall City, he received the "dream" indicating that he has caught vampirism. He drank his one available Potion of Cures Disease, and cast Cure Disease a number of times, hoping for the best. It wasn't to be. He arrived in the City a vampire. Now, if you know me at all you know that I do not tolerate avatars who must prey on the innocent. My choice at this point was to either abandon the play-through altogether or back out the just completed quest. I chose the latter as a lesser of evils. In any case, with that portion of his history deleted my avatar is none the wiser. So far as he's concerned, he never contracted the disease. I'm not about to tell him. This of course meant he needed to do that dungeon crawl yet again. Praise the Nine (or in this case Eight), this time he reached his goal in record time.

I must say bumping up WIL as he did his recent level-up has made a noticeable improvement in survivability. I don't need to reload nearly as often during crawls full of high-level casters.

My avatar partook of two tasks, one each for the Temple of Kynareth and Knights of the Dragon. Both were rescue missions, he being sent to retrieve members from dungeons. In the first case he found then escorted his target to the Daggerfall City Temple. In the second he alas discovered that his target had been killed by orcs. He received credit for reporting the death.

In Daggerfall City he got in several paid-for Destruction training sessions, and self-trained Mysticism at the Fighters Guild. Speaking of guilds, he advanced to Senechal in the Knights of the Dragon, and was awarded adamantium gauntlets. Not quite as good as the Orcish gauntlets he already wears, but a piece lacking in the adamantium armor set he collects for storage in his home attic.

ADDENDUM:
Here we see my avatar's Daggerfall City residence, circled in red:
IPB Image
It is almost ideally situated for convenience. Three of the four organization of which he is an official member are seen in blue little more than a stone's throw distant. Only the Mages Guild, near the city's southern wall, involves a bit of travel. In truth even it is not terribly far away once one becomes familiar with the route. Just about ever sort of shoppe he regularly does business with is close by, with a Bank of Daggerfall branch office in orange at the image southeast corner. Daggerfall Castle is very near the image northeast edge.

We were picky as to location at time of purchase. Once he settled on the house style he could afford (he could afford a much better style now) I made a save point, let him buy a house and find it on the map. It proved to be in a poor location within the city. I reloaded and repeated the buying process until the home seen above materialized. Doubt we could have done better.
Decrepit
My avatar performed two easy tasks, one of them highly beneficial.

Daggerfall City Mages Guild commissioned him to dispose of a dead noble who refused to stay in his or her grave. (I forget which, or if he was told.) The undead personage resided in one of the Kingdom's city palaces. This was a walk in the park. Travel to said city. Enter palace. Kill (?) undead. Exit palace. Return to Daggerfall City. Enter Mages Guild. Receive task credit and reward. While at the Guild Hall he paid for training in Destruction.

He spent the rest of that day and all night self-practicing several spells schools at the Fighters Guild.

Next morning he accepted a Fighters Guild assignment to kill harpies within one of the Kingdom's numerous dungeons. Lo and behold, the dungeon was inhabited by mummies, ghosts and humans. Not a vampire or lich in sight!!!!! He didn't bother to cast his reflect-spell enchantment. Heck, he could have gotten by without health regeneration, but kept it running "just in case".

To sweeten the deal, those human foes dropped some very nice gear, including:

...Ebony Saber
...Ebony Broadsword
...Adamantium Broadsword
...Orcish Broadsword
...Daedric Broadsword x2
...Daedric Longsword x2
...Daedric Warhammer

and best of all...

...Daedric Gauntlets

He needed those gauntlets to complete his Daedric Armor set. They came enchanted, which gave us pause for concern, expecting a fairly lousy enchant. Our fears proved groundless. Their enchantment is Absorb Spell, which is very nice indeed. In any case, the Orcish gauntlets he's been wearing will be added to the Orcish armor set stored in his home attic.

You have a SET of Orcish? I thought that was only possible to collect if your character had selected "no Orcish" at char-gen. biggrin.gif

My Orc, Blossom, spent forever trying to obtain a complete set, and never managed it legitimately. I loaned her a set for her portrait, but she never got to use it.

I think she managed to find two complete sets of Daedric on the way, but she doesn't like that shade of red, as it clashes with her hair. She even carries the Chrysamere in preference to a Daedric Claymore.

A complete set of Orcish? No. Just four pieces: A ribbed cuirass that is a green equivalent to the Daedric cuirass seen in my avatar's embedded screen capture(s). A right pauldron. Gauntlets. Boots. He has a number of Orcish weapons in storage. I can't recall which. Both my avatar and myself are fans of Daedric Red. That said, Orcish Green is mighty fine too. Were their colors reversed we'd have no qualms going green.

So when you buy a house in Daggerfall it doesn´t even exist before the transaction is made?
Decrepit
QUOTE(mirocu @ Aug 18 2016, 03:25 AM) *

So when you buy a house in Daggerfall it doesn't even exist before the transaction is made?

Well...no. I supposed I ought to have said, "I reloaded and repeated the buying process until my avatar's name materialized on the red-circled home seen above." Certain towns and cities within the various Kingdoms designate specific homes as purchasable from their local bank(s). (Not all towns are large enough to sport a bank.) When buying a home, avatars can choose from a number style variants, assuming they has the funds to pay for their style of preference. (One can also take out a bank loan, but be very careful to pay it back in time lest ye be banned a criminal within that Kingdom.) Once a style is picked and payment made, a dwelling of that style is randomly designated yours within the city/town in question. Depending on town size, layout, and possibly other factors it might not much matter where the house is sited. For my avatar it did and does. In any case, why not be picky when one can?

In other news, my avatar recently completed an assignment for a Daggerfall City private citizen whose lady friend had been kidnapped. He (my avatar) was tasked to carry ransom to the abductors' representative and ensure release. He was also given leeway to handle the situation as he saw fit. Therefore, when the representative demanded the ransom, he refused, being immediately set upon by the reps thug. The thug was dispensed with, his body searched from clues as to the victim's likely whereabouts. This proved to be...you guessed it...a dungeon. My avatar traveled there forthwith, traversed its many corridors, eventually found the captive, escorted her to his employer, accepted a modest monetary reward, and went on his merry way.
ghastley
Picking the right house can be important if you're a vampire, as you can only shop during the day, but you can only go outside at night, without taking damage. So a vampire has to get from home to shop in the shortest time possible. I found that out with Vampirella, who lived in a biggish house, but a bit far from the shops.

Edited to make image a larger one.
Decrepit
Not an overly momentous occasion, but one worth noting: On 22 Aug 2016 (earth date) my avatar's Kingdom of Daggerfall bank account surpassed the 10million mark, as seen below:
IPB Image
He could have substantially more in his account should he decide to sell off many items currently stored in his cart and home. He has no desire or need to do so. (So far as I recall, he has little if any funds stashed away in banks within other Iliac Bay Kingdoms.)

In other news, my avatar...

...performed a there-and-back-again delivery service for a Daggerfall Castle noble.

...touched bases with an important contact to gather new info regarding his mission for the Emperor.

...disposed of a dungeon-hidden traitor for the Temple of Kynareth.

...disposed of an orc as tasked by the Knights of the Dragon. (Mobs inhabiting this dungeon were so weaksauce (judged by my avatar's current proficiency) he was able to practice Archery for most of the crawl, which hasn't happened in a great long while.)

He of course got in a number of formal and informal spell-school training sessions, and sold and banked as needed. Oh yeah, he created new Cure Disease, Cure Poison, and Water Mastery (combined Breathing and Walking) spells to replace far weaker spells from his early low-magicka days.
mirocu
Is Bank of Daggerfall a mod? Looks like it could be interesting. Not that I play Daggerfall yet, but still wink.gif
ghastley
No, banks (in each little kingdom) are a standard feature. Because gold has weight in Daggerfall, you need somewhere to deposit it, or convert it to letters of credit (for a percentage).

You buy homes and ships at the banks, too.

My avatar was sent by the Daggerfall City Mages Guild to take out a rogue wizard located in another Kingdom of Daggerfall Mages Guild Hall. Piece of cake. Why that particular Hall couldn't handle the matter itself is beyond me but hey, we received pay for services rendered.

The Daggerfall City Fighters Guild tasked him to train an apprentice warrior in one of the Kingdom's dungeons. This was another easy assignment. The fellow was satisfied with his progress early on and asked to return to the hall. My avatar elected to have them stay a while longer. Why? The dungeon housed a number of humanoid villains, some of whom carried Daedric gear. He looted a gold-trimmed Daedric Cuirass almost immediately. Daedric Boots soon followed. Then came a Daedric Helm. Lastly, gold-trimmed Daedric Greaves. Decent Daedric weaponry dropped too. All in all a very profitable venture.
Renee
That sounds neat, we can train some apprentice as a quest.

I still haven't guessed that Arena puzzle. If I can't get it this weekend I'll cheat. Because [censored] it.

Decrepit
On this, the 20th Anniversary of Daggerfall's launch (earth reckoning), my avatar elected to hire himself out to civilian populous rather than work for any of the four organizations of which he is an active member or take on an assignment for the nobility. What he found himself stepping into was a lesson in convoluted misdirection. His first contact turned out to be nothing more than a middleman, who directed him to the potential employer. Journeying to the tavern in question, his "employer" transformed into a spell-casting orc. My avatar found himself transported into the bowels of dungeon. Fighting his way to the exit, he returned to Daggerfall City and confronted his initial contact, who swore himself innocent of intentional wrongdoing. He also informed my avatar that, so far as he knew, the fraudulent employer had returned to his home in another Daggerfall Kingdom city. My avatar traveled there, found the house in question, entered, confronted and killed the orc. He then returned to Daggerfall City, sold a number of very nice Daedric weapons looted during the venture, banked, paid for Destruction training at the Temple of Kynareth, and spend the rest of that day and all night self-training Restoration at the Fighters Guild. At that point I left him to his own devices.
mirocu
Wow, cool things apparently happen in Daggerfall. Wish Arena had those quests too biggrin.gif
Decrepit
Earlier today I observed my avatar inch closer to fulfilling one of the Emperor's two missions. He at last knows how to appease Lysandus' vengeful spirit! His dilemma now is that he can't decide between two alterative routes to his goal. That being the case, he returned to Daggerfall City and will resume normal questing until he makes up his mind.

In my twenty years off and on playing Daggerfall this is as close as any of my avatars has come to finishing either of the game's main quest lines. Not because I dislike Daggerfall's main quests in any way. I regard them very highly. The difference this time round might be nothing more than that years spent chronicling my Cyrodiilic decrepit avatar has accustomed me to preferring individuals who honor their commitments, particularly those concerning the Empire under its final two Septim emperors.
Decrepit
Since last report, I observed my avatar do an almost complete rotation of quests for the four organizations of which he is an active member, as follows:

...For the Temple of Kynareth he was tasked to deliver a powerful weapon to an agent for safe keeping. Oddly or not, the lady in question was holed up deep within a labyrinthic dungeon. My avatar came close to blowing this one, as the dungeon was difficult to navigate and he was saddled with a measly four-day time limit.

...The Knights of the Dragon sent him to dispose of a particularly troublesome orc. This was another tricky dungeon crawl, but with a much more relaxed completion deadline.

...The Mages Guild asked him to help a local citizen open her chest. This didn't turn out as interesting as my avatar hoped, as the chest in question proved to be a wood storage container.

...Just before I left him he had accepted an assignment from the Fighters Guild to dispatch a wayward gargoyle.

Between engagements he sold loot, banked, and trained various spell schools both officially and on his own.

The Fighters Guild gargoyle disposal assignment mentioned last post proved challenging, even discounting that its dungeon was inhabited by vampires both mundane and ancient. Took forever to find the target. To add insult to injury, we heard what we assumed to be the gargoyle, reasonably close by, fairly early on but couldn't figure out how to reach it until much later. Luckily the task had a lenient time limit.

Had a momentary panic soon after entering the dungeon. Noticed that my avatar's Daedric helm was neither on his head nor in his inventory. We retreated to the exit and checked his wagon. There it was! No idea how it came to be there. Or maybe I do.

He leveled soon after returning to Daggerfall City. His six points were used to raise AGI to 90 and PER to 55. The AGI bump boosted his combat bonus from +3 to +4.

He's currently looking to solicit employment from the populous at large, but can't find an assignment that isn't somewhat shady.

Does this mean my avatar will soon have competition solving the Kingdoms' various ills? Don't worry, there are more than enough such assignments to go around without stepping on each others toes.

I know. Daggerfall's a big world. Chances are I won't even do any of the main quests with my character(s). I just want to make a few random folks at first. smile.gif

I'm still not done with Arena though. We have to see if we can b34t Jagar Tharn first!

In the Iliac Bay Kingdoms the vengeful spirit of King Lysandus is now at rest. In the process my avatar gained brownie points with Wayrest's ruling family. Mission accomplished he returned to Daggerfall City posthaste. Almost immediately on arrival he received notification that his initial Imperial contact in this entire affair wished to see him...in an obscure Wayrest village. Off he went again. The Lady was met in the village's one inn. He was given a new assignment on behalf of the Empire. He once again returned to Daggerfall City, and hopes to get in a round or two of mundane organizational quests before tackling this new major assignment.

Of no consequence whatsoever is that his recent meeting occurred on game save 0600. I have of course saved the game a zillion more times than that. Most assignments are given a number and brief description at their start, which is overwritten (under the same number) until completion/turn-in. Some important and/or overly lengthy assignments get several numbers/save-slots.

Oddly or not, reference to both King Lysandus ghost and "the letter" disappeared from my avatar's log once Lysandus' spirit was appeased. I do not recall him having seen the letter quest-line to its conclusion, though I suppose it's possible he did so at some forgotten date long past.

Since last report, my avatar:

...Undertook an information gathering mission for the Temple of Kynareth.

...Was sent to dispatch an orc by the Knights of the Dragon. This proved a rather lengthy crawl. Somewhat needlessly as it turned out. Had my avatar gone left instead of right at one intersection he would have shortened his stay by at least a third. Not that we're complaining. That dungeon netted a good many Daedric pieces before all was said and done.

...Was tasked by the Mages Guild to dispose of a wayward imp holed up in a Daggerfall Kingdom city palace.

He had planned to break off soliciting organizational assignments at this point, until recovering an object of great power from one of Iliac Bay's major palaces. At the last moment, en route to the palace in question, he developed second thoughts as to who he intends to give the object to. He doesn't dare retrieve the object without being able to dispose of it pronto. Until he settles the issue it's back to his customary grind.

(His conflict rests between two of the numerous candidates. One is the obvious choice any of my various TES avatars would make, the choice he had settled on until resent doubts crept in. The other might or might not surprise you. Rest assured neither of his options numbers among the "bad actors" of the lot.)

Speaking of organizations, my avatar has reached the highest obtainable position in both the Fighters Guild and Temple of Kynareth. He is one step away from that goal in his other two organizations, the Mages Guild and Knights of the Dragon. Praise be, these ultimate positions do NOT entail becoming the heads of said organizations. This was, in my opinion, a major fault with Oblivion's guild system. Or rather, the fault, as I see it, rests with being allowed to assume leadership in name only, with no meaningful ongoing responsibilities associated with the job. No further questing either, where Daggerall offers never ending quest options of sufficient variety to hold one's interest for decades to come. (Much depends on your take on Daggerfall's huge labyrinthic dungeons. Some don't care for 'em in the least. Me, I love 'em, frustrating as they can be at times.)

Speaking of Daggerfall City, with Lysandus' spirit at rest night-times there seem almost unnervingly quiet. Odd as this may sound, both my avatar and myself sort of miss those screams of VENGENCE!!!!! and roaming ghosts. Nor did those wraiths ever pose a serious thread to my avatar wandering the city in darkness as needed, not even early on. It's all for the best of course, but I can help but feel we've lost an old friend, who we didn't think we'd miss until he was gone.
Renee
Yeah I totally dig what you're saying with the "highest obtainable position". I like the idea that our characters won't be going all the way to the top. Granted, in some cases it makes sense that one of ours can ultimately do so, but I still like the way it sounds DF does this.

Hope for bad weather tomorrow, maybe I'll finish up Arena. It's supposed to be sunny though, probably. sad.gif Dammit yeah it is. sad.gif

As far as graphics and hand built cities, yeah. When you look at the total skills, classes, and attributes though the newer games have been absolutely gutted.

In general I agree though. Arena and Daggerfall weren't good IMO, although part of that is strictly in comparison to more modern games. At the time of their respective releases they were the best open world games that existed.
Renee
Axes are blunt weapons though, at least in some of the table-games we used to play they were. Axes and maces shared the same school of weapons. These games predate Elder Scrolls by at least 15 years, too. They're not talking about the blade part of the axe, they're talking about its top end. You can't thrust an axe and hope for any penetrating damage, you have to swing this axe, just like you must swing a mace for best damage. Swords on the other hand can be thrust or swung. That, to me, is the main diff between these two schools of weapons.

/reneesgeekdebatepoint

Anyways, good news. It is 6:57 pm on the 18th of Sun's Height, 3rd Era 393, and Renee Gade the first has finally gotten out of Dagoth Ur, with the complete staff of eight pieces, all glued together. I suppose next we'll be facing the big man, Jagar Tharn. *shudders* Wish us luck.

The difference I notice is that Arena had no chart in which to assign points to skills while Oblivion has both Major and Minor skills. Arena only has Attributes that in turn affect "hidden" skills. That was one reason why I said Oblivion was more complicated than Arena even though it´s a more modern game. I have more reasons but there´s no need to go into that. It´s an Update thread after all smile.gif

Unsure of what to do next, Renee Gade decides she'll head back to Skyrim, back to the village of Amol, where she'd been born, where her unexpected life as an adventurer had begun. She'd been a member of the court back then; not much more than an up-and-coming squiress, in training for knighthood, under the tutelage of Baroness Helle. That's where it had all begun. She had been nobody important.

But somehow she'd gotten mixed up in this whole business with the Uriel Septim VII, the emperor of Tamriel. Jagar Tharn, the emperor's top battlemage, had imprisoned the man, rumors had been said, and pretty soon the 'up-and coming squiress' knew these rumors were true. She'd begun having visions and dreams explaining what she should do, or what she could do, at least, to save the emperor.

After a year (or so) of doing random, but necessary services in Amol (escorting important people, delivering important objects across town, that sort of thing) she'd begun to hear of a place called Labyrinthian, where it was rumored Tharn had hidden one of the pieces of a magical staff, captured from Uriel Septim's former confines. There were eight pieces in total, and each one (it was rumored further) had been hidden in each of eight provinces.

Gade had risen to the challenge, and after some additional magical training, had entered Labyrinthian, and eventually had found the first piece of the magical staff. Over the next three years, she would move around a lot, moving from province to province, different villages, inns, temples. Different climates. And different lairs, some much more elaborate than others.

And here she was years later in Morrowind, in the village of Markgran Forest, located not too far away from the volcanic lair known as Dagoth-Ur. The staff completely pieced back together, despite Jagar Tharn's efforts to thwart her along the way. And she had not a clue what to do next.

(Jagar Tharn appeared in a vision not long after I finished writing the above! He said the staff is not magical anymore, because he's disabled its magic, but this is okay.)

TBH, I think the old games had way too many skills, especially concerning the weapons. I think Morrowind with its separate skills for Axe, Spear, Short Blade, Long Blade, and Blunt was really overdoing it. The same with Light, Medium, and Heavy Armor skills (and Unarmored).

It forces the player to sit down and investigate what they are going to wear and use before they even create their character. As a modder it also forces you to create two or three separate versions of every armor mod you create, one for each armor skill. And if the modder doesn't do that, then the users of the mod have to go in the CK and mod their mod to add said versions of it if your character leveled up the wrong skill. It just creates a huge pain the rear. I think one melee weapon skill is all we really need, and one armor skill. It's all part of the KISS principle: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

I am going slowly through the final (I hope) dungeon in Arena. It really is a crawl. And it's packed with enemies; it has lots of places to rest, yet resting is impossible because it seems the game is programmed to introduce new baddies the moment some are gotten rid of.

Most of these "baddies" are the toughest too. Lichs, vampires, wraiths. mad.gif All of which can see my Renee Gade at all times. Invisibility does little good down here.

None of those baddies really pose a threat to my character, but then again I´ve spent hours leveling him up and make sure he has the proper spell protections and attacks. He almost doesn´t even need to use weapons at all if he doesn´t want to.

Cool you seem to be on the final leg of the game, Renee! Hopefully the ending will be epic biggrin.gif

I did it! I did it! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I B34T @r3n4 !!!!

Wow. The end was not really that hard at all. I didn't even know the game HAD ended, matter of fact. I am not gonna say what I just did (it would be way too much of a spoiler) but we didn't have to fight Jagar Tharn at all. All you have to do is ... well I don't wanna say.

I almost want to go back to my last save, just to see how tough Tharn is. Because I didn't know it was Tharn, I thought he was a vampire. indifferent.gif

There is a very primitive cut-scene at the end, and then the game's opening music plays. So here are some pics I just took of the final, 1994 technological feat.

Firstly, we found this gem, after running right by the guy I thought was a vampire. RG1 had a special key by this point, which she literally found by luck in some locked cell, without too much exploration.

After grabbing the red gem, this is how the cut-scene started.

Then this

Woo woo psychadelic

And then Jagar Tharn shows up at the end of the cut-scene, but it never that he's just been defeated. laugh.gif I can't be the only gamer out here who was confused by this. evillol.gif

EDIT: Never mind. The first cut-scene must have glitched. I tried it again, and here are some more pix. Tried fighting Tharn by the way, but the guy is way too tough, as he should be. But that's okay. I just beat TES 1: Arena for the second time with my little trick.

Another psychedelic pic

Jagar Tharn DIES

And then this guy shows up (don't know who it is, but he mentions my characters' name).

And then Burger King shows up. I mean Uriel Septim VII shows up to greet my character. Fun stuff.

I almost feel like jumping into Daggerfall right now, but I need to unwind with some Oblivion. I'll definitely get to Daggerfall this weekend though.

Congrats to you and your RG1 toon! tongue.gif
Lopov
Congrats, Renee! It's interesting that you can defeat Tharn by actually not fighting him at all.

Fabulous screenies! laugh.gif
Decrepit
Congrats Renee! Funny, I recall nothing of the concluding cut scene. But then it's been an awfully long time.

Look forward to reports of your upcoming Iliac Bay adventures.

Awesomely done, Renee!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

And thank you very much for the screenies! Glad you got the real ending with your second attempt smile.gif

Now, go forth! There are more t00ns and more g4m3z to be b34t! biggrin.gif
Renee
Thanks y'all.

I also wanted to add: like a true Bethesda game, finishing the Main Quest doesn't just end the game. After the cut-scene ended, the game put my character back outside the Imperial City palace (which is just a 2D graphic), meaning if I wanted to, I could head out of Cyrodiil and go back to other provinces, do random quests, etc. It's interesting Bethesda had this philosophy back then, which is one of the things which has continued on in later Beth games.
