Shav looks quite fearsome with those claw marks down the middle of his nose. It reminds me of the Clan of the Cave Bear, and how Ayla was scarred by a lion as a child, and later it turned out that Lion was her spirit guide, and scars were his mark upon her.
Thanks, Sub! That is interesting how Ayla was scarred by a lion and it turned out to be her own guide. Is her story here in the forums? Send me a link or something. I want to check it out.
Ah and everyone I've been going back into Oblivion. He's my first unafflicted character. Well, unafflicted in the game, I mean.
Who is
this guy?

DE, Ayla is the star of a series of six books written by Jean M. Auel through the 1980s and into the 1990s. The series chronicles the fictitious saga of a young girl (Ayla) set on earth some 30,000 years ago. The first book of the series is 'Clan of the Cave Bear'. Wonderful stuff and certainly had an influence on Buffy the Bowgirl and, most likely, some of the other fics here.

The less-haired, non-scarred, less-man but every bit of a man Kraven Desselius

I've been trying to get a feel of Cyrodiil again after many years. So I decided to play as him in his home province.

Speaking of grim elves, here’s
Nephiah Sarys. She’s a conjurer. Conjured weapons, raised zombies, and the occasional atronach when there’s no fresh kill around. She may be the one who will go for the Corpse Preparation – True Necromancy mod that KC pointed out in the Awesome Mods thread and I’ve been wanting to try. Too early to tell, though.
I
really need to get that piercing mod going. She demands adornment.

Here’s a picture of
Channah, Redguard ranger. She used to have pretty brown eyes but they went grey when she became a werewolf. Playing a Redguard one-handed fighter is sheer joy from the start. Channah has kept me company during some difficult hours. She’s living in the time of dragons but is not Dragonborn.
When she fights dragons (two so far) she has the sense to hang back and use her bow, unlike some of my short-lived characters. Channah does not have a lot of deep thoughts (likely the influence of her Nord father

), but her background is slowly trickling in as we play.

Channah looks great. Ranger is my favorite playstyle for any TES game
I like having non-dragonborn characters that have to deal with dragons, it's a bit more challenging without the thu'um..

Jan 17 2014, 04:02 PM
I just wish the game would let you have a few dragons before Mirmulnir, so that you don't have to reveal your capability and start that part of the quest. I have one character who's collected at least twenty words from word walls, and has only encountered that one dragon, plus a a skeletal one, who almost doesn't count (no scales, no soul). So no use of Thu'um, but also no reluctance to fast travel, so I suppose there IS an upside.

Channah is a dread-locked cutie. It is nice when characters come together as you play them. Some of mine I know well before I start playing, some of them I get to know as the game goes on. And with some of them neither happens, and they do not get played very long.

I like the flowers, Phon. Your depth of field (I think?) effect makes it hard for me to see, but the colors are pretty.
New guy: Marius, no last name.
Here he’s picking up a Fast Healing spell from the spell vendor and Restoration trainer Abiene in Whiterun. It’s the only spell he uses. He “borrowed” someone else’s clothes for his trip inside the Temple. Usually he’s dressed like
this.
I’m using a mod that makes the Thieves Guild harder to join plus one that makes Riften look like a burglar’s paradise, so we’ll see. Also I made Rune a follower, since he was the first TG member to not be a jerk to Marius.

SubRosa
Feb 5 2014, 09:28 PM
Maybe Marius is his last name, and Gaius is his first? We will know if he reforms Skyrim's military.
Marius looks kind of familiar... Orlando Bloom?
I keep thinking that if he sneezes, it will be a missile attack! What damage does his nose ring do? Did he smith it up yet?
I know the mod you mean about making the TG harder to join. It makes you have to do wacky things like steal stuff to be eligible to join! Unlike in the vanilla game, where Brynjolf thinks every new person in town is a born thief and tries to recruit them.
Grits
Feb 6 2014, 03:37 AM
Acadian, creeping around in the dark is definitely fun! Too bad there’s not much in Skyrim to steal. I might have to hide some things for him, lol.
You’re right, SubRosa, he does look like a pouty Orlando! Good catch. How funny, there’s a Gallus in the TG questline. I wonder if that’s what put Marius’ name into my mind.
The nose ring fortifies his archery. He refused to wear the archery circlet he found even though I knew he was about to go fight a dragon and his AR was around 50, so we cut a deal. Marius is quite a hustler. I enchanted the nose ring, he chucked the circlet into a barrel. I didn’t change it into armor, though. That would set a scary precedent. The Nord would want to fight wearing only an “armor” ring around his… thumb, and I don’t want to get a mod for that!!
At first Marius had a lot of other hardware in his face, but that proved impractical when he had to get into fist fights on behalf of the Guild. (Though he resolved all of the conflicts without actual violence.) Also Rune cleaned him up a little once they put him in a uniform.
In other jewelry news, Valdi is still holding out for a gold nose ring. I saw gold earrings in loot in someone else’s game, so maybe she’ll be tempted by those if she ever finds them. Sir Magul has follower Valdi styled in a long mail dress. I’ll have to get a picture of that someday.

Every time I decide to put it off for a few years I see screens that make me want to play.

Here are a couple of my Skyrim characters who might get mentioned from time to time.
Glugrog gro-Dugwog, orc wanderer. (I promise he is wearing pants.) He’s traveling with all of my previous orc characters as NPCs.
Including Big D.
Ninette de L’Enclos, Conjuror-Illusionist. She still needs a little muscle to back her up. To my surprise she hired NPC Jerric. It’s been fun to see him from a stranger’s perspective.
