Am I self-aggrandizing again?

Not really. Let me 'splain and perhaps it'll make sense.

I played with the vanilla Morrowindz on an XBox for a good three years, 2005-2008 before I finally got a decent computer and setup for modding it. As such, in my minds eye, this is the Sethyas I know. With all the fantastic mods that were out even five or so years ago (Man, I'm old...) I couldn't just have the vanilla face so I downloaded Westly's fantastic master face pack.

Unfortunately, the closest face I could find to this was a smaller tattoo over the left eye, which has been seen much in many of my fan fic's screenshots. There was another face that did have this tattoo, but the face was...smaller and rounder, childlike almost. I just couldn't play my character with it. Not as I see him.

However, Westly is slowly but surely finishing up his Vanilla Faces Replacer, as far as the Dark Elves go, he's made higher res textures that still keep the original meshes.

This is that release that has finally caught up to my minds eye view, and will be seen from hereon out. So there's the sudden changes reason. And maybe just a little self-aggrandizing.

He looks awesome Black Hand!

Here's my newest character. I made her just to test something, and kind of kept playing her. She will be Dead is Dead, so I can't imagine she will be around for too long. She's a mage too, I'm trying to get a feel for Skyrim's magic system. I'd like to get her a staff ASAP so she can cast a spell with her magicka and cast another with something else's magicka. She's in Riverwood now, but she woke up in the middle of a Forsworn base. At a tower just above Lost Valley Redoubt. She had no idea how or why she got there, but there was an angry hagraven in front of her. She tried fighting it and quickly realized that this thing was going to kill her if she stayed. Her name is Lillith because I didn't look up a lore-friendly name before creating her.
Black Hand
Actually,...KC...that's one of the most intriguing starts to a character I've read. blink.gif

But Kudos on the Ironman style of playing. It's very difficult to master and do. Especially if you're truly role-playing the character and not going with your foreknowledge of the game.
King Coin
It certainly was an interesting start to say the least. I'm using a 'random alternate start' mod where you can end up anywhere with a few items of clothing and maybe a weapon.

Heh. Are you taking a screenshot of the characters and doing some processing, or are you actually drawing those?

Either way, it looks good.

Screenshots from Nifskope, where I can freeze the animation, and the figure's on a plain background. Then converted to outlines in GIMP and colored.

I can't draw without a computer doing all the work.

Not a screenshot, not my character ... yet.

Outfit

I'm working on an outfit for an NPC - Nocturnal - for a quest or two for players who've completed the Thieves Guild quest-line, possibly related to negotiating the return of the Cowl. This was taken from Nifskope, and it does not show how badly the cape distorts when an animation is applied. I still need major revisions of the mesh to make it move properly.

If I can actually get the cape to work, I may release it separately as an amulet-slot item that can be won over clothing by the player.
Acadian
ghastley, that's kewl! As soon as I saw the screenshot, I thought Nocturnal! All she needs is a bird perched on her forearm. smile.gif
King Coin
I like the loincloth thing she's wearing! tongue.gif I'd like something similar to that for Skyrim. Long and unadorned like that. I have yet to find anything like that on Nexus.

Holy Cow, he's huge! Now I have to rethink when I'm reading your story and remember he looks like this, because he looks very different than I had been imagining in my mind as I read, lol. No wonder Ralof's family tossed him out after his brawling arm grabbing incident! When someone that huge starts grabbing your arms, you take notice, lol.

Yes, and he has a real Nord look about him! How did you do that, is he modded? Really tough looking guy, and all this time I've been picturing him COMPLETELY differently, most especially during his escape with Ralof and how pleasant and smiley he was through it - I may go back and reread it with this image in mind now, lol.

I use a few mods pertaining to character creation. They are RaceMenu, XCE-Xenius Character Enhancement, and Race Plus. I also have a few others that affect hair, beards, and eyebrows. Maybe I should post a list of all my mods in the Mods Forum?

Anyway...here is another screenie of Val, a little closer for a better view of his face.
mALX

That "Race Plus" must be how you were able to combine the Nord features and Bosmer features - great job you did on it!

I love this second screen of Val, really great shot! Now this screen shows a little bit more of the personality I expect to see in his face! I choose this shot of him as my favorite so far!

I think it went one click above the median. He is Bosmer based...can't get the pointed ears with it set on Nord. Weight slider is maxed. The mod allowed me to pump his biceps up, but I didn't go far at all with that.

Sorta a picture/journal thingy I guess.

More like this latest 'reboot' of Seth has me playing in the same terms as the XBox version back in '05-'08 playthroughs. I had forgotten how effective playing a Dunmer as an Assassin is, right out of the gate at level one.

Now, I did modify the 'stock' class to reflect my opinion of what an Assassin would be, that is dropped the 'intelligence' favored attribute for agility. That being said, you get 45 in short blade right away. Combined with the Steel Dagger of Swiftblade's 5 point increase from Arrille's in the room that strangely cannot be rented, you hit almost everything in the first hit. One of Morrowind's shortcomings too non-veteran players was the fact that you could miss.

Too me, it simply provided a different challenge.

Though I may know what goes through my character's head and write it down for all too read, I sometimes get a moment of silence while playing, especially the 'early' version of Seth when he's still very much a Bandit from Cyrodiil, quite literally one of the bandits you might encounter on the roads in Oblivion. That was actually one of my thoughts as I fought a Dunmer Male Bandit in OB for a Background for my character.

Despite all the experiences he's had from then til now, the cooling of his temperament, the refining of his technique, Sethyas is still a predator, and a damn good one.

He is an amazing character with an even more amazing back story. I love the face paint, it does him well. One thing that jumps out in that second screenshot is the textures of that building/tree/and rock - If I ever take another stab at trying to play Morrowind I am definitely going for that mod. (I had a lot of trouble with the combat in Morrowind, and finally gave up when I couldn't complete any quests or explore).

Great Shots, Blackie!

They actually do have a mod for that, it makes you hit every time, and the damage is based on your stats, and how long you 'hold' the weapon back. I'll be happy to look it up for you if and when you reinstall. Remember: virtually anything you don't like about MW: There's an app Mod for that!

First off, I love that dagger collection! The meal - love the intricate pattern on the goblet, but the raw meat was kind of oofy. I noticed that making the mod for the Wobbly Inn - all the meat looks raw! I couldn't bring myself to put it on the plates in the dining room, so it is kind of a vegetarian dinner there (sauteed crabmeat is all I could stand to look at, some of the plates got it, lol).

On the next screen, that Alchemy book is incredible! Detailed, and with illustrations - I've never seen one like it in the other TES games! What is in the bowl behind the open alchemy book, that looks really interesting.

The scrolls in the next shot are so well done and realistic looking, I am really beginning to want to retry Morrowind again, see these in game. (is some of this modded?).

Also, the parchment near the scrolls looked well done too, would have liked to read that in game.

All in all, you have achieved the title of your screens here - it looks exactly like what I would imagine an assassin of high rank or experience might have in his quarters - really loving these updates!

This is a potions replacer by AOF. Spiffy!

IPB Image

And yet another replacer, called STA Guides replacer by modder unknown, and what's amazing is that this was made in 2004!

IPB Image

So, I recall I had this replacer with an additional plug-in years ago, in '09, that allowed you to change the position of the guides onto your wall with a menu. Couldn't find it, so I did it in the Construction Set. Creation Kit for those of you in the latter-days of TES.

IPB Image

One of the things that I did prefer in Skyrim over Morrowind, was static Alchemy sets. It didn't make much sense that I would be carrying around delicate glass. This was released like in '08 or '09 by Sir Gawain. He also made the silver and steel blades replacers seen in some of my screenshots. This mod disables all of the stock alchemy stuff, and instead gives you a set that you purchase from Alchemists and then you can set up anywhere in the world. Once done, that Alchemy Set is permanently affixed there, and activating it brings up the alchemy menu.

So, what I did was, I gutted the old Abandoned Shack southwest of Gnaar Mok. Some players would be familiar, others would not. It's just that, a shack with no owner. I liked the feel and location of it, but storage and general use was a bit of an issue.

This took quite a while, several hours in the CS, and I finally got it set up with virtually infinite storage containers, including the desk. The exception being the bookshelf. But I have the "book rotate" mod as well, and intend to fill that up with as many books as I can. Plus, I liked the idea of a lowly looking shack hiding some of the finer things in life inside. Quite suitable for my idea of stealthy types, be they thief or assassin.

DE, thanks for the shot of Kraven.

Skyguy, so nice to have such a great screen of Val to match to his story. As a lifelong gym rat myself, I shall offer no bodybuilding jokes. biggrin.gif

Blackie, such nice shots of Seth and your Morrowind. Neat to peek into his life. I also favor prestaging achemy equipment at each of the Mages Guild facilities in Oblivion instead of lugging the fragile stuff around.

Blackie, these are amazing! I love the detail on the scrolls/guides/alchemy bottles/and books - these are wonderful!

Also loved the idea of the shack - I've done the same thing in Skyrim and Fallout 3 - made my own places chosen by the location I liked, a bit of isolation but not hard to get to, etc. And like you, I kind of liked the simpler shack types but fixed up to my liking. Awesome shots, Blackie!

I get a little historical with these shots as is evident by the descriptions underneath. Pay them no mind if it's a case of "tl; dr" However, I'm definitely been reminded as of late as to why the Morag Tong has been my favorite guild all these years. Got into it a little better as of late, plus having their own armor set modded in to the game didn't hurt either.

__________________________________________________________________

IPB Image

A severe Dunmer of untold years, Goren Andarys runs the Ald-Ruhn chapter of the Morag Tong. He is in many ways, the spiritual Father of Sethyas Velas. His mentor, guide, and patron within the Guild. As a priest of Mephala and practitioner of the unarmed, unarmored martial arts of the Khajiit Rain-on-sand styles, and the various schools of the Dissident Priests adaptations from it, he is one of the deadliest, and most spiritual assassins within the fold.

IPB Image

Traditional Morag Tong armor is made from a combination of local goods. Including guar skin, shalk resin, and chitin among others. The garb is often loose and flowing so as too not restrict quick, agile movements, as well as to adapt to the harsh heat and environment of the Ashlands around Red Mountain. Too which many writs will take them.

IPB Image

Ebony has been called the "crystallized blood of the gods" and most of the continent of Tamriel's deposits are on Vvardenfell. The Dunmer have created many such weapons as this, forging some of the deadliest weapons known. Pictured is 'Shimsil' last known in the possession of a Necromancer in Mawia, it is assumed the Assassin who took his life took the blade; and it's deadly enchantments, for themselves.

IPB Image

Contrary to the outlawed Dark Brotherhood in the rest of Tamriel, the Morag Tong exist as a legally sanctioned guild by the Empire, after the Armistice at the beginning of the fourth era. They may only practice their art within the borders of Morrowind, legally. However, Morag Tong honor will throw them to the far reaches of Tamriel if need be, and once one has been marked with a writ, there is no stopping their agent from paying a visit.

IPB Image

While under the writ, the mark is legally allowed to defend themselves. This includes guards, self-defense, and slaying the Agent in said self-defense. If an Assassin meets death, the writ is considered failed, and the party that originally exchanged gold for blood must purchase anew. The expense often discourages multiple contracts, though is not unheard of. The mark who successfully defends themselves from an agent will face no repercussions from the Morag Tong, indeed they may take out a writ themselves. While the purchaser of the writ is held in highest confidence, it's often easy to guess who was behind it.

IPB Image

The Morag Tong themselves are much feared, and misunderstood by outsiders. Despite their fearsome reputation, they are in fact the most principled guild in Morrowind. Refusing to slay any but the mark of a legal writ, and considering the art of murder 'sacred', those who slay the innocent are considered incompetent. These individuals often find themselves subject to a writ themselves.

Among the first of the Dunmeri guilds to open themselves to 'outlanders' they are also the most tolerant, openly accepting people of proven honor.

The religious aspect of the Morag Tong has changed very slightly over the years. They do have a common ancestor with the Dark Brotherhood, as worshippers of Sithis. Later, when the Chimer left Summerset Isles under the Daedric gods, Boethiah, Mephala, and Azura, traits of Boethiah and Mephala's nature took over.

Mephala eventually became the chief god of the Tong, and later the Morag Tong agreed to worship Vivec, as Mephala's Anticipation. This has been poetically documented and interpreted in the 36 Sermons of Vivec, in Sermon 22.

The Morag Tong continued it's existence under the Tribunal, ultimately answering to the Temple hierarchy. What the fates hold for it in the uncertain future remains largely unknown. After all, what has been written cannot be erased, but what is to come is held by those who hold the pen.
