Do you have a fish tape? It's stiff enough to push, but flexible enough to go around corners when it needs to, and has a loop on the end to connect the wire when you pull it back. Like a narrower tape measure, with a loop in place of the L-hook. Work it down, so gravity helps.

Even with one of those, if the house was built to code, there would be blocks at the floors to prevent the cavity behind the sheet-rock acting like a chimney, so you'd have to find an existing gap.

Your best bet may be to disconnect an existing wire to the second floor at the breaker box, and use it to pull the new one, plus a "return cord". Then use that "return cord" to re-position the wire you used.

I do have a tape, and will probably give it another crack over the weekend. I tried unsuccessfully to feed it up a chase for a different wire that I know goes all the way up, but it'll never happen. Holes are too small.

Just gotta glance around the basement for an alternate route. I'm not sure code existed in 1920!

Gravity is your friend. Feel the Force, Luke, and go down instead. The basement's also likely to be an easier place to find the end of the tape when you get far enough, and have the most flexibility for the sideways part.

I think it's a long shot either way, TBH. I'm blindly aiming for a 1" hole from two floors up.

Have someone shine a flashlight in there so you can aim for where the light is shinging up at you.

Well, Cavator works fine now. Except I still have issues with the killswitch. It's a button you press to kill the engine but it doesn't always work so I have to resort to turning off the fuel and kill it that way.

Current project: clearing a small area behind the shed we put lights in and all that. We will use that area for firewood storage for ourselves as we don't need much. Stumps and rocks were removed but I still need to clean it up a bit and fill up with some dirt. Roof will be built as some point and luckily we do have some spare currogated metal sheets, whatever they are called

Today I dug up a big tree stump but instead of dragging it away somewhere I dug the hole even deeper and dropped it down. So technically I didn't really remove it

Also pushed away some rocks from another dig site and next time I'm gonna clean it up a bit so yeah, that cavator won' t get a retirement anytime soon

Oh, yeah. These things take a lot of time to dry up after you've taken them down. It's especially wet now after winter too so I rather just use my cavator

The planned project to clear the tractor road through the wood has been put on ice as I have another project now; clearing the area beside the tent and make it useable. Today I tried to dig up the first huge rock but decided to bury it instead which went fine.

So yeah, this will be my project for quite some time as we have no shortage of big rocks On the plusside, my cavator investment has definitely proved to be a very sound one

What kind of tent? Like just a little vynl one or one of the more sturdy pop up kind?

Behind the shed was two big rocks and a bunch of tree stumps, a total mess. Cavator cleared that up though!
