Factions:
Maxical:Brief History:
Maxical:
- Orphaned at unknown age, Legion guessed at 2 yrs old (currently estimated at almost 18 years old)
- Mixed race:
- Mother - Shivani, died in Minotaur attack on road near Skingrad when Maxical was a kit
- Father - Imperial (unknown who he is at this time)
Maxical, Fathis, Gils - Major roles- Fathis Aren paid for Maxical's education at the Arcane University.
- Maxical pledged herself to Fathis Aren, (her schoolgirl crush) for the enormous debts he incurred on her behalf. Fathis never agreed, and didn’t contact Maxical for 7 months after she graduated.
- Maxical meets Gils (the Blue Team Gladiator) during this 7 months. Maxical falls in love with the fun, flirty Gils. They swear “country” marriage vows together, which are legal if witnessed (but there were no witnesses).
- Although quasi-married, Maxical retains her virginity because it was promised to Fathis Aren. She takes precautions to keep Gils from ** “starting” her (see explanation at bottom of page)
- Unbeknownst to Gils till just recently, he has been under the mind control of his step-brother the Gray Prince (Agronak) since Agronak was a very young child. Agronak tried to murder him, but Gils escaped. Gils just discovered that Agronak also used mind control on and murdered Gils’ father.
- Because of Fathis’s reputation as womanizer and his position as benefactor and guardian over Maxical, Fathis refuses any physical contact with Maxical - nor confirm his feelings for her till she turns 18 - (till just recently when he realized he may lose her to Gils) Maxical assumes Fathis is off-put because she is a "beast race"
- Uriel Septim dreams of a white Khajiit, extracts a vow from Maxical to aid him when she turns 21.
- Unbeknownst to both Fathis and Maxical, Fathis has been under a mind control spell put on him by Janus Hassildor. The spell makes Fathis impotent, causes him to stay away from Maxical and explicitly trust Hassildor. Fathis just learned of it the day before the current events listed below. Maxical still does not know about it.
- Fathis quickly “surprised” Maxical with a very public “country” swearing of vows in the midst of a promotion for the Arcane and the Arena - so public that she could not turn him down at the time. Because there were witnesses, that marriage to Fathis would be held as legal, not her marriage to Gils. Fathis left after the vows without a word to Maxical
- Fathis spent the wedding night laying a trap for Janus Hassildor
- Maxical spent that wedding night with Gils. He gave her a wedding ring that night, “The Jewel of the Rumare.” That night Maxical was “started” by Gils, meaning she is “bound for life” or “sealed” to Gils. Maxical is still a virgin.
- Fathis sprung the trap on Janus Hassildor at the Arena. In spite of Fathis’s planning that Maxical NOT be there, she showed up and was caught in the vampire war that began when Dagoth-Malan’s Army of Giant Vampires swarmed in to defend Janus Hassildor.
- Fathis tries to get Maxical to safety, sacrificing himself in the process.
- Gils tries to save Fathis Aren, but is knocked out and locked in an office by Malan‘s minions.
- Gils escapes. He thinks Fathis is dead. He breaks into the Palace to warn Uriel Septim that Malan‘s Army has attacked. Gils tells Uriel that Fathis Aren is dead.
- Gils is at the Imperial Palace with Uriel when Malan arrives impersonating Fathis Aren
Current Events Bolded:Maxical:
- Maxical realized someone was impersonating Fathis when he called her “Maxical,” then realized it was a vampire
- Maxical heard Agronak in the sewers below the Arena. She sealed off the access and turned the gas on full (which caused explosion that blew up the Imperial City)
- Maxical used the Arena signal for “illegal substitution” to warn Damien “Foxy” Reynard and Hannibal Traven that the man appearing as Fathis was an impersonator.
- Maxical injured in explosion, Janus Hassildor brought her to Bloodworks and healed her
- “Jak” (Jakben, Earl of Imbel - who is really Malan, unbeknownst to everyone except the reader) spoke through Janus to crush Maxical’s hope of any chance for a future with Fathis and make Maxical more compliant for his plans.
- Maxical learns The Immortal is Janus Hassildor (not Corvus Umbranox as she thought) She still believes that the “Jak” Janus Hassildor keeps referring to is a large bird, and that Janus has a few screws loose.
- Maxical asks Janus to help search for Fathis and Gils. He agrees, and swears a vow to do it.
- As soon as Janus leaves Maxical alone in the Bloodworks, an army of soldiers push their way in.
Fathis Aren:
- Fathis is unconscious, being kept alive and held captive by Dagoth-Malan (so Malan can impersonate him)
- Malan’s army carried Fathis (and the Mrs. Treydog painting of the Golden Armor) to Malan’s army’s secret headquarters near Skingrad where Fathis is now being held prisoner. He is in a fairly decent cell, and has a healer standing by to keep him alive.
Gils:
- Uriel Septim has commissioned Gils to serve under him in the battle against the vampires, awarding him a scabbard that matches the one Uriel gave Fathis Aren
- Gils is with the Imperial Army, aiding them with his knowledge of the passages under the Arena. He still plans to try and rescue Maxical
- Gils is trying to avoid Ocato, who has “the hots” for him
**********
Malan’s Army of Giant Vampires, Dagoth-Malan, Janus Hassildor - Major rolesDagoth-Malan’s Army of Giants - Major role- Malan sent signal to the Crimson Scars to make their move
- Malan’s army of vampires did not attack Maxical
- Malan’s army swarming mezzanine of the Arena, marauding in the Imperial City.
Dagoth-Malan:- Malan combined blood from all the most powerful ancient vampire lines and mixed them with a vial of Dagoth-Ur's blood. He injected it into himself to become omnipotent and immortal. Something went wrong in the mix, he is not immortal, but insanely powerful.
- Malan created a super-race of vampires. Every vampire he made grows to giant proportions for combat. Malan set up pods outside all the major cities of Cyrodiil to attack people coming and going - trying to infiltrate and fill each city with his armies so on command they would grow to giants and attack.
- Malan was bent on domination, first over Cyrodiil, then all Tamriel. He went to the Crystal Tower and researched till he found his error. Once again he made a cocktail of all the most powerful ancient vampire lines, this time not mixing in the last vial of Dagoth-Ur's blood. (The error he had made with his own concoction).
- There was only enough concoction to “make” one immortal vampire. Malan needed someone in a position of power, but still easily controllable.
- Malan chose the young, up and coming 18 year old Janus Hassildor who was running for the seat in County Skingrad. Malan befriended the lad Hassildor, becoming Janus's chief advisor. He pulled no stops to help Janus into the post, including surreptitiously setting up Janus’s marriage with the correct choice politically, Rona.
- Janus was elected to the seat of Count, Skingrad County. Six months later Janus & Rona were to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Malan sent each an invitation supposedly from the other - for a romantic “hush-hush” picnic alone out at the Shadeleaf Copse. Both Rona and Janus slipped away from their bodyguards so their “romance” would not be witnessed.
- Malan's minions attacked Janus's wife Rona. Malan himself attacked Janus, injecting him first with Dagoth-Ur’s blood, waiting for it to take hold. Then he injected Janus with the cocktail of the most powerful vampire lines known.
- Malan’s plan is to build a new army, all immortals that will grow to giant proportions for combat - they will be unstoppable. He created Janus Hassildor for this purpose, but Janus has isolated himself and refused to act on his vampire nature - until now.
**
- Malan uses illusion to alter his appearance and hide his vampire features. He can impersonate anyone (as long as they are alive) - exactly the same way Jagar Tharn did when he impersonated Uriel Septim for 10 years. (That is why Tharn had to keep Uriel alive in Oblivion, rather than just kill him and replace him).
- So far in the story Malan has been using illusion to impersonate the following people; Until now his impersonations have gone undetected:
- Malan has been impersonating Jakben, Earl of Imbel hundreds of years,
whereabouts of real Jak unknown at this time
- Malan began impersonating Fathis Aren after capturing him.
- Malan also uses illusion magic to transform into various forms: a wolf, vapor, or a large bird. As a wolf he can infiltrate areas unnoticed, and defend himself with tooth or claw. As vapor he can quickly disappear and slip away unnoticed when surrounded by enemies - but he is unable to defend himself in this form, and a well aimed fireball would damage him. As the large bird he can travel quickly over great distances; but again, is unable to defend himself in this form.
- Malan transforms into a large bird frequently:
- He is the large bird that spies on Janus Hassildor constantly
- He was the giant bird that led Malan's army into battle at the Arena
- Malan is trying to get Janus Hassildor to release his vampire nature so he will begin sharing his Dark Gift and make other immortal vampires (ones that hopefully Malan can control)
- Malan plans to use mind control on Malvulis to seduce Janus into “making“ her so she will be able to “make” more immortals.
- Malan wants Janus to accept Maxical as his chosen and “make” her so she will be able to “make” more immortals. In order to spur Janus into taking Maxical, Malan (as Jak) has been pretending he is interested in Maxical himself to bring out the competitive instincts in Janus. Malan is not interested in Maxical, but getting too close and smelling her blood would still be dangerous.
- Malan implanted some kind of post-hypnotic suggestion into Maxical the day he rescued her from Vicente - so he’d be able to use mind control on her.
- Malan ordered Gils to be killed, but Gils escaped
- Malan ordered Seridur killed
- Malan’s minion informed Azzan and Velus that Vicente is a vampire and that he was staying at the Merchants Inn
- Malan began impersonation of Fathis Aren.
- Malan’s army carried Fathis (and the Mrs. Treydog painting of the Golden Armor) to Malan’s army’s secret headquarters near Skingrad where Fathis is now being held prisoner. A healer is standing by to keep Fathis alive so Malan can continue to impersonate him)
- Malan was scammed by Sneakers for all of the Septims in Fathis's pocket Unbeknownst to Malan, Sneakers stuck a small statuette of a black fox down the back of his loincloth.
- While disguised as Fathis Aren, Malan got an annulment for Fathis's marriage to Maxical on the grounds of infidelity on the wedding night.
- Malan was unable to give Uriel Septim the security authorization code that Fathis Aren would have known. Ocato, the Battlemages, and Gils attacked him. He fled, leaping through a Palace window and transforming into the large bird. He was livid to see Gils there alive after he had ordered him killed.
- Malan was unable to give Damien “Foxy” Reynard the security authorization code that Fathis Aren would have known. Hannibal Traven and Janus Hassildor both realized he was an imposter when he called Traven “Hannibal” and used the name “Maxical.” Damien’s contingent of mage-assassins attacked Malan.
** Damien is Malan’s longtime nemesis. Damien now knows Malan is
impersonating Fathis Aren, but does not know Malan has been impersonating
Jakben Imbel. (yet).
- When the explosion occurred, Malan made good his escape as a vapor, but not before Foxy spoke his name in front of Janus Hassildor, (who now wants to hunt down and kill Malan).
Janus Hassildor:- After the attack by Malan, Janus ejected everyone from the castle to keep his vampirism secret - Malan included. Janus bolted the gates so no one could enter for decades.
- Janus became a recluse, thwarting all Malan's plans for him. Rona “made” one vampire, Mina - the “Pale Lady” living in the secret crypt in Castle Skingrad. Since Rona was made by Malan’s minions, neither she nor Mina were/are immortal. Rona died three years ago when the Glenmoril witch Melisande offered Janus Hassildor a “Cure Vampirism” potion. (Melisande then promptly hit on Janus, but was rejected with extreme prejudice).
- Janus is the only known immortal vampire. He is called “The Immortal” by many of his own kind, and the few mortals that know of his existence.
- Janus put Fathis Aren under a spell to trust him explicitly, to stay away from Maxical, and to make him impotent.
- Janus planned to kill Maxical for a taste of her virgin blood, but found out instead that she is his ** “chosen.” (see explanation at bottom of page)
- Janus was upset to see his mentor (Hannibal Traven) injured in the explosion.
- Janus found out Dagoth-Malan was the vampire impersonating Fathis Aren. Janus wants to kill Malan. (he does NOT know Jak is really Malan, and genuinely likes Jak)
- The explosion knocked Maxical off the Arena roof. Damien “Foxy” Reynard released Janus so he could save her.
- Janus rescued Maxical from roof, took her to Bloodworks and healed her
- Janus let “Jak” (who unbeknownst to Janus is really Malan) speak through himself hoping “Jak” could calm Maxical’s temper down. Instead “Jak” upset Maxical worse.
- Janus believes “Jak” wants Maxical for himself and deliberately sabotaged him
- Janus vowed to bring Fathis Aren and Gils to Maxical if she will wait in the safety of the Bloodworks.
- Janus goes out to search for Fathis & Gils
**********
Arch Mage Hannibal Traven, the Arcane, and the Mages Guild - Major role - Hannibal went to school with Fathis - they argue like brothers, but genuinely care about each other
- Hannibal is Maxical's personal physician and friend
- He is an expert on Ancient vampires - Knows they have been getting antsy over "Uriel's Law" and that a rebellion is imminent - some think he is paranoid about it. - right now it is his worst nightmare come true
- Through Ocato Hannibal oversees vampires that have "Diplomatic Immunity from Uriel's Law." He has the authority to offer this immunity to certain vampires if they agree NOT to act on their nature. (If the vampire acts on his nature, the Mages Guild is supposed to bring sanctions against them, they lose immunity, Uriel's Law is enacted, they are killed).
- Hannibal likes things to stay at a status quo, peace at almost any cost - and will go to almost any length to keep everything running smoothly
- That said, Hannibal is a good guy, and when pushed in a corner will always do what is right.
- Hannibal admitted to the real Fathis Aren that he knew Janus Hassildor was here for his "chosen." Fathis Aren realized Maxical was that “chosen.”
- Hannibal tricked the fake Fathis (Malan) into giving up Fathis’s ring that carries 100% resistance to magic, then cast magic inhibiting shackles at him, but missed.
- Hannibal was unconscious and injured after explosion

- Foxy’s agent “Sneakers” duped vampire impersonating Fathis - robbed him of all
Fathis’s Septims and planted miniature statue of black fox in the vampire’s loincloth folds.
- One of Foxy’s agents led the fake Fathis (Malan) into trap at Palace after Sneakers duped him for all Fathis’s Septims.
- Foxy confronted the fake Fathis (Malan), demanded security code. When he couldn’t provide it, Foxy’s assassins attack the fake Fathis, and Malan’s true identity emerges through the illusion.
- Damien (Foxy) recognized Dagoth-Malan. Damien is Malan’s nemesis. Damien does not know Malan is also impersonating Jakben Imbel.
- Foxy calls Malan by name in front of Janus Hassildor, who now wants to hunt Malan down and kill him.
- After explosion, Damien released Janus Hassildor to save Maxical

- Azzan figured out very quickly that Seridur was the vampire and Roland Jenseric was not
- Azzan has a terrible hatred of vampires and would like to see them wiped off the face of Nirn.

*****
Explanation of Terms:
**Khajiit Terms:** "Blue Show" - denotes female Khajiit has reached sexual maturity, but is still a virgin. Show turns purple after virginity lost. Also know as "Blue Flag"
** "Started" (started into mating cycle) - Female Khajiit normally have to be started by a male Khajiit's barbs - Maxical is mixed, and can be "started" without mating. A female Khajiit becomes "bound for life" or “sealed” to whomever "starts" her.
** "Bound" (bound for life or sealed) - When Azura bound leopard to human, she placed a mark on their tongue that they could never bring the promiscuity of their leopard ancestry (their beast nature) to their new human forms. The mark on the tongue is called a "seal" and it is a permanent lock binding the female Khajiit to whomever starts her. When their mate is near, the "seal" on the female's tongue oozes moon sugar, a highly addictive treat to Khajiit. So technically, they become addicted to the presence of their mate. When their mate gets a distance from them, the "seal" becomes painful - the further away they get, the more painful it becomes. If the mate dies, the pain becomes unbearable, and the female Khajiit usually ... follow their mates to the grave.
**********************
**Dunmer Terms: ** "Dunmer Mysteries" - Azura's gift to the Chimer (now Dunmer) - To keep divorce and promiscuity from the Chimer, Azura gives the gift of "marital mysteries" that a husband can only teach his first wife or face severe consequences. (They keep the Dunmer Male faithful to his wife. Since Dunmer live so long, and the man can never teach them again, divorce is very rare in Dunmer - and the widows of Dunmer men are highly sought).
**********************
**Vampire Terms:** “Chosen Mate” and “Steps of Promise” - Because vampires live so long, instead of them choosing their own mate, their vampire nature selects for them a mate that would be their perfect match over hundreds of years. With such extended lives, they don’t feel the passing of time as a mortal would. Vampires can wait interminably long for what they want.
Nothing compares to the feel of that hunt for their chosen mate. The vampire will be driven beyond his control to the “Chosen.” The most powerful urges of his vampire nature emerge within them, powers they never knew they had. They become like gods staking claim on the chosen, bringing her to their lair.
The vampire will kill anyone that stands in the way between himself and his chosen, including husbands, boyfriends, fathers, Legion, etc. Vampires instinctively know their competition.
The “Steps of Promise” are certain things that the Chosen does completely without her own knowledge. These “Steps of Promise” confirm to the vampire that her soul has been marked as his, and is promising itself to the vampire. Numbered below are an explanation of the “Steps of Promise“:
1. The vampire cannot tell the Chosen mate that she has been selected. Instead he must read her thoughts and listen for “promises,“ (promises which she has no idea she is making).
These can be just a thought, (Example: “I could listen to him forever and never tire of it.”) or they may be certain actions. (Examples: holding his hand or allowing him to hold hers longer than the polite handshake; turning to him for help, protection, or comfort; choosing him over another; - etc.)
2. She must come to his lair of her own free will, walk under her own power into it (not be carried over the threshold)
3. She must give herself to him freely in her own timing and with no advances made on his part, this is the consummation of the “Steps of Promise.” He will consider himself sealed to her permanently at this point.
As each of these thoughts and actions are completed by the girl (unbeknownst to her), she is making the “Steps” - a solemn promise that the vampire nature takes as seriously as a legal binding contract. He will kill to protect that relationship she has inadvertently promised was his.
(The problem then is that she is mortal and will die, but the vampire will live hundreds of years. Part of protecting that relationship would be to ensure she live as long as him, and the vampire will be driven to “make” his Chosen sometime within the first years of their relationship).
**
Uriel’s Law:
** Uriel's Law - This is the law that has the ancient vampires mad. The law reads that vampires are fair game - kill on sight. Uriel enacted it hoping to run vampires out of Cyrodiil. Instead, fear of the law drove them into hiding and eventually that fear festered into anger.
Clavicus Vile gave the gift to vampires that if they feed they can hide their features for 24 hours. Uriel’s law countered that, anyone caught feeding on another person is committing a crime and is put to death. The vampires began keeping “cattle” in hidden cells in their lairs to feed off of.
**********************
** Swearing a Vow - a tradition that is highly honored, a vow sworn is a promise kept. The fist is pounded twice over the heart, the right hand raised to clasp the others. It is sealed by either a kiss on the lips or a salute on both cheeks while the hands are raised and clasped.
** “Country” swearing of vows - an old rural tradition of declaring love before two witnesses - is considered binding and a legal marriage only if there are at least two witnesses.
