Description:

Boethiah, Daedric Prince/ss of Deceit and Conspiracy, Secret plots of Murder, Assasination, Treason, and Unlawful Overthrow of Authority.

Boethiah is probably best known to most for being considered by the Dunmer as one of the "good Deadra" and Anticipation of Almalexia. According to the well known "Invocation of Azura", Boethiah is the most overtly acting Daedroth Prince. For his/her cultists, Boethiah's summoning day is a day of bloody competitions that only end after by means of duels and battles, nine cultists have been killed at the hands of other cultists. Boethiah seems to enjoy cruelty in general and in all forms and facets.

Despite this, the Dunmer consider Boethiah the origin of their culture, their philosophy and their ways, even considering him/her to be the first of all Dunmer. According to Tribunal dogma, Boethiah submitted and swore allegiance to the Tribunal, however, this is doubtful and more likely propaganda, created to ease the transition from early Dunmer ancestor worship to the worship of the Tribunal.

Note: The sex of this Daedric Prince/ss is unclear. There is no consense among scholars about this issue, but it seems of little consequence as the importance of sex to the Daedra appears to be dubious at best. It may be that Boethiah's "shifting" sex is indication of his/her sphere being associated with both sexes in equal parts...

History:

In the Dawn Era, Boethiah tricked and devoured the mighty Aldmeri ancestor spirit of Trinimic, champion of Auri-El, speaking with his voice and in his guise, educating the Chimer-to-be in the ways of magic, house-building and how to cloth oneself. He also told them that the Aedra were liars and that Trinimac was the biggest liar of them all.

In the Merethic Era, Boethiah illuminated the Prophet Veloth who consequently founded a new elven nation, the nation of the Chimer who - with the help of Boethiah, Mephala and Azura - created a new society based on Daedric philosophy.
