good job Kiln. and were did you get that avy mergirl!? it's creepy.
Kiln
Wow...the forums move incredibly slowly at night where I am...I'm basically the only one on...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He coughed and forced the some of the water out of his lungs when he reached the pocket of air. Still choking and bobbing up and down in the water he coughed and took in as many breaths as he could before diving back under.

Kiln pushed off the wall to move faster to the entrance, it seemed so far away. After what seemed like decades he finally saw the door. He managed to get to it but with all his strength he couldn't budge it.

He was losing air quickly so he propped his feet against the wall and pushed off the wall. Light pierced the crack of the door and flooded the water, Kiln pushed his head out of the water and took a deep breath.

After exiting the cave he moved left around the entrance slipping and falling in the slick mud eventually finding himself lying on his chest in the mud. It was raining and the sound of thunder rolled across the landscape.

He rolled over on his back and let the rain fall on him, relieved to be out of the cavern he laughed at nothing in particular and turned back over pushing himself to his feet. He started the long walk to town, the water made his clothes heavier than before and the path seemed twice as long.

Fog had covered the land around the river making it impossible to see in front of him so he followed the edge of the water, hoping to find town soon. The rain became even more violent and lightning lit the dark sky.

When he heard the familiar low pitched screech of the Silt Strider he knew he was close but he still couldn't see in front of him. He figured walking straight would get him to his destination but instead it landed him underwater in a section of the rushing river.

The water pushed hard and he fought to pull himself up but he was swept off by the current, luckily he managed to grab a small shrub on the bank and pull himself ashore. He looked up the hill, he could see the rounded outline of the temple.

He ran tripping and crawling up the hillside determined to deliver the antidote. He flung the door open and the priestess rushed to the door to greet him.

"You look like you've been through alot." the priestess said

"You could only imagine." Kiln replied holding out the potion

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The priestess motioned for Kiln to enter the room, the wound had been healed, they had been awaiting the potion for some time now, and she had been clothed.

Many of the disciples didn't care what he'd been through to get this potion, most of them even gave snotty remarks about how long it had taken, some subtle and some exactly the opposite.

The potion was given to the oldest looking dark elf in the temple. He propped her head up on a pillow and carefully opened her mouth. Next he opened the small bottle the vampire had given him and smelled the cork, apparently it smelled awful but he seemed satisfied.

Slowly, he tilted the bottle forcing the brown liquid into her mouth. The bottle was gone but there was no reaction.

"Well?" Kiln said impatiently

He recieved a glare from every person in the room before the priestess walked over to him,

"These things take time...perhaps you could wait in the entry?" she recommended

"Fine, about how long will this take though?" Kiln asked

Once again the people in the room glared at him, he figured it would be best not to ask any more questions.

"Uhhh...I'll be outside." Kiln said

He wondered who the woman was but his mind was drawn once again to the vampire and why he would return to kill him. Though he figured it was impossible that he would ever return to that place again, he couldn't help but wonder.

To escape from the events surrounding him he took the journal from his pack and opened it to where he had left off.

"After entering the ruins today I discovered one thing the kind man at the fighters guild failed to tell me, the whole damn ruin is overrun by bandits. I managed to avoid most of them besides the man called Boss in the ruin. Boss clearly told me that he led the group of smugglers and said he would keep me from telling the authorities...I had a different plan though."

Kiln laughed to himself, "I'll bet you had another idea." Kiln had grown fond of reading of his adventures, it took his mind off of things around him and helped him to relax. He read on,

"He came close to hitting me a few times...quite a few times actually.
'note to self: get some armor' I barely dodged the attacks before one of them cut my arm wide open causing me to drop my blade. Blood sprayed across the rusted floor but right as he brought the final blow I moved and stabbed him with my dagger. I think I was just as surprised as he was."

The priestess came in with a smile on her face and Kiln closed the journal and stood,

"The girl is awake now, thanks to you sir." she said putting her hand on his face but quickly removing it

"Can I speak with her?" Kiln asked anxiously

"She hasn't fully recovered yet sir." she told him

"Well can I at least see her?" Kiln pleaded her

"You are so impatient, go home and come back tomorrow when she is awake." she said

"All that and I can't even..." Kiln started to complain but was cut off

"You may see her in the morning and not a moment sooner." she snapped at him

Kiln left the temple in the rain but rather than going to the Eight Plates he went to the lucky lockup, something deep inside himself told him not to go to the Eight Plates tonight and so he obeyed.

He stepped inside and asked the publican for a room. After paying him he went upstairs and sat on the bed, it was very nice but it felt strange sleeping at the Lockup rather than his usual place of refuge.

He blew out the candle and fell into a deep sleep.
Soulseeker3.0
lol good job Kiln, now then whats going to happen at the Eight Plates?
Kiln
Kiln awoke to loud chatting in the bottom level so he gathered his things and went down stairs to listen.

"There's been another attack! We should act now while we still can." an altmer woman said

"Hmmmm...people didn't give it a second thought when someone killed the Commona Tong members in Balmora." Kiln thought to himself wondering who had been attacked

"Poor Dulnea never saw it..." the altmer continued but was cut off by Kiln

"Dulnea! What has happened to her...tell me please!" Kiln yelled

"She was attacked by an assassin late last night, I'm not sure how she is but they took her to the temple for holding." she said somewhat startled by Kiln's deep raspy yell.

Kiln ran for the door nocking over a two chairs and a Redguard on his way out. Rain hit him hard on the face upon leaving the door, the storm still raged on. In such a hurry to find out about Dulnea's condition he tripped over a mudhole and landed face first on the ground.

Shuffling back to his feet he climbed the stairs and ran for the temple, flinging the door open with all his strength.

"Yes he didn't even attack the other people in the house just her." the priestess said to another

"How is Dulnea?" he demanded

"Kiln, wonderful to se..." she said before Kiln interrupted

"How is she? Tell me!" Kiln yelled

He felt horrible, she was like family to him. A family member that he loved and respected had been attacked, thats how Kiln saw things. He awaited the answer as the dark elf woman he had rescued emerged from the room.

"She is awake now, I'll have you know and Dulnea suffers from a vampire bite. We told the citizens it was an assassin attack so the wouldn't panic." she said

"Not an assassin? A vampire!" Kiln yelled

"She's not infected yet, but the only cure we know is to kill the vampire that bit her within the third day." she told him

"How long do I have?" Kiln asked

"You? You think you can find and Kill the vampire?" she said laughing

"How long does she have woman?" Kiln demanded

"Less than two days now, you'd best be quick if you want to help her." she said

Kiln slammed the door behind him, he was off to the mages guild to pick up his blade, some water breathing potions, and journey to the home of Greed for one final visit.

absolutely wonderful way of tieing it toether. I'm greedy for more blink.gif

Thanks. biggrin.gif
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After gathering his supplies he left the building and followed the river, before his journey had been hard. The weight of his wet clothes and supplies had slowed him down, but in his rage he hardly noticed how heavy his belongings were.

His emotions were running wild, he cried thinking that he might not defeat the vampire, and then thinking of the creature once again he punched a boulder nearby. Knuckles bleeding and sore he continued to the grotto.

He had just reached the entrance when he stuck his blade in the ground and rested his hands upon the back lying his head on them. For the first time in years he stopped and prayed to the gods,

"Grant me the strength to overcome my enemy and the agility to dodge his blows." Kiln whispered with his eyes closed

He stood pulling his blade from the thick mud holding it in place. He walked to the entrance and dove down, drinking an entire potion of water breathing to ensure that he makes it through.

The door wasn't so hard to open when since he was mad and the fear of the creature had long gone, all that remained was blind hatred of the beast named Greed.

He swam with incredible speed and strength this time around, he pulled himself from the water and walked towards the wooden gate in the tunnel to the vampire's lair.

Kiln laughed when he realised the gate had been locked. He drew his blade and cut at the lock but it was very strong, he couldn't get through by breaking the lock.
He examined how old the wood looked and kicked at it, it cracked a bit and he kicked again and again until finally the door broke and lied in the vampire's domain.

It was as he'd feared, Greed's servants had gathered in the courtyard to stop him. The four of them all wielded weapons but only one wore armor, Kiln confronted them,

"Move from the path, I've got important business to tend to with your master." Kiln yelled knowing they wouldn't move

A Nord stepped forward wearing a full set of steel armor,

"My master has warned us of what you've come here for, leave now while you still can." his voice echoed through the cavern

"I will speak to Greed...one way...or another." Kiln warned them

"Then you'll have to fight us first." The Nord declared

"So be it." Kiln said drawing his blade

*claps* Very good, though I think more details should be added (I'm a lover of details, if you don't know that by now). But, well-written, and I'm glad to see that you are still writing! goodjob.gif cake.gif
Kiln
Kiln thought quickly as the mob charged him they he put his back to the soft muddy wall of the cave to prevent them from getting behind him. He had fought before but not with more than one opponent at a time.

Around him were past adventurers that had failed to make it inside to fight with the vampire, strange that there were so many, the cave was recently dug out. That wasn't important right now though, the group was in front of him now jabbing at him all at once.

He stepped on something, in a rush to pick it up he sliced at a Khajiit on the left, cutting its arm and causing it to fall down. And he grabbed what was clearly a shield and half held it using it to block the incoming blows from the right.

The second Khajiit jumped on him nocking him to the ground, they struggled and rolled on the ground, the Argonian woman he had spoken to before looking for a good time to stab Kiln.

Kiln had been waiting for this moment since he had been tackled, the moment when she decided to stab him. As she jabbed he rolled over forcing the cat to be hit by her blade in the back. The sword pertruded from his stomach and he pushed the body with his foot to avoid being stabbed through it.

When the woman realised what she had done she pulled the blade and pointed it at Kiln as he got to his feet. She didn't seem to care about anything that happened, the only thing that she cared about was killing Kiln.

Kiln looked at the wounded Khajiit on the ground, he wouldn't be interfering, he seemed too afraid to move. So Kiln prepared to fight the Argonian, she swung and cut his leg lightly but enough to cause him to limp and he jabbed at her head just missing and cutting off one of her earrings.

She cut him again in nearly the same place, much deeper this time though. He swung at her finally removing one of her fingers causing her to drop the sword, he drew back to finish her.

He looked at her for a moment and soon turned his attention to the armored Nord.
The Nord looked at him with a smile and spoke to him,

"Come on lad finish them so we can get down to business."

"They are defenseless. There's no honor in killing the unarmed." Kiln replied

"Kill them, they are your enemies!" the Nord commanded

"You are my enemy as well so shall I kill you now?" Kiln said picking up the circular iron shield from the ground where he had dropped it

"It's not too late to leave you know." he said

"Is that fear in your voice warrior? Has your master told you what will happen if you fight me?" Kiln laughed at him

"Greed told me I would surely lose and has bid me to leave you be but you don't look like the one to bring me down coward." the Nord taunted

"We're about to find out now aren't we?" Kiln said getting ready for a fight he would surely regret

"I've got to do this, for Dulnea." Kiln whispered to himself as the Nord walked slowly toward him

nice Kiln.
Kiln
Dang, theres way too many good fan fictions here...I try to read most of them but there are so many...they're great but when everyone updates at the same time I have to decide which one to read first.(Thats the hard part.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You can do this...don't get cocky and stay alert." Kiln repeated to himself as the Nord came at him

This would be more challenging than fighting the other servants, they weren't as strong and they didn't have any armor. Kiln was at a disadvantage, as the Nord wore a full suit of steel armor while Kiln was only protected by a chestplate and a rusty old shield.

The Nord stabbed at his already wounded leg but Kiln managed to hit his blade away with his own. The brute swung from high above his head with the sword, Kiln raised the shield and took the hit.

It didn't work well though, the blow hit with such strength he fell to the ground barely moving out of the way as the Nord brought his sword downward upon him. Kiln rolled and jumped to his feet. Kiln moved slowly away from the man as he followed carefully avoiding a surprise attack.

He stabbed for his opponent's throat but his blade was slapped away in vain.

"There's no way you'll defeat Greed fighting like this." the Nord laughed

His remark made Kiln even more determined to hurt him even if it was only a minor wound, and with that he jabbed with as much strength as he could muster toward the warrior's leg, it struck and blood sprayed across Kiln's face.

Kiln felt better finally drawing blood from his opponent but the relief was taken away as he swung in reprocussion, Kiln pulled the shield up and braced himself for the strength of the hit.

Ready for the blow, Kiln wasn't nocked down but he was still thrown off balance. The Nord was incredibly enraged, he came at Kiln swinging from one side to another.

Kiln knew what he must do, he jumped catching the ledge of the roof of one of the shacks and pulling himself up, out of reach of the angry man.

"Get down from there coward." the Nord yelled

"Why don't you come up here and get me." Kiln yelled taunting him

The door opened and he heard rustling in the house underneath, the thin roof made of sticks was easily punctured by the sword of the berserking Nord below.

Kiln jumped up and down trying to avoid being stabbed by his enemy. Kiln was afraid and he jumped to the balcony of Greed's mansion, escaping the incredibly angry man momentarily.

He entered through the door and entered the well lit house. He walked up the stairs to Greed's room to fight him but instead found a note. Kiln picked it up and read the seemingly shakey handwriting of the vampire,

"If you are reading this then my greatest fears have become reality, if I am to die I will do it on my terms. I hoped it wouldn't come down to this, take the key from my desk and meet me downstairs in my personal treasury. This will end there."

Kiln dropped the note, and took the key from the desk.

"Time to finish this, I have to keep Dulnea from vampirism." he thought to himself as he walked toward the bottom level.

The last servant outside had stopped banging on the door, Kiln figured he had given up but he didn't have time to wonder, he had to kill Greed.

we need some more O.o dieing in the suspense here.

Go away for a while and people add huge amounts of material to their great stories [grumble, grumble].

This has turned into an absolute must-read. Great plot twists, excellent work weaving "known" characters from the game into Kiln's own story.
Kiln
Kiln played the scenario in his head, he was wounded and tired from fighting all the servants and his opponent would be strong and well rested. Kiln didn't doubt his strength nor did he doubt the advantage Greed would have.

He drew his sword and cut the air with it, feeling the weight of it as he swung. He practiced swinging it as quickly as he could, imagining the vampire moving around him trying to confuse him.

After practicing for a bit, Kiln was ready to face Greed. He limped down the stairway clothing wreathed in blood, to the huge door in the lower level. He inserted the key into the lock, and slowly turned it, sword ready.

The door let out a loud click that echoed within. Kiln slowly opened the door, the house ended at the door and a tunnel began, a very dark tunnel.

Kiln walked back upstairs and grabbed a torch, continuing deeper into the tunnels. The path to the left went to a bedroom in which only a hammock was visible and the path to the right continued deeper into the cavern.

Not wanting to waste time exploring dead ends Kiln went right, deeper into the cavern. The air grew dense and hard to breath as he continued downward.
The cave grew colder and more moist the deeper he ventured in.

The end of the tunnel emerged into the final room, it was a temple sort of room fashioned like a tomb. The floor was slick at the entrance and he fell to the floor with a loud clink, dropping the torch feet away. Kiln picked up the torch and held it over the ground he fell on.

It was gold, alot of gold. It littered the ground, he held the torch higher and looked around, there had to be hundreds of thousands of drakes littering the floor of this temple. Large rock pillars held the roof in place and near one end of the room there was a torch.

Then Kiln heard him,

"I did hope it wouldn't come down to this, why did you decide to return?" Greed asked still not visible in the cave

"I have to help my friend." Kiln yelled

"By killing me? How can this possible help your friend?" Greed asked calmly

"You bit her, and you know the cure for vampirism sir." Kiln told the voice

Kiln turned slowly in circles sword drawn, looking for the vampire. Silence filled the room and the torch moved and touched the wall. A thin wall of flames went slowly around the top of the room around a ledge.

Kiln marveled at the treasure surrounding the room, blades, armor, and gold glittered in the light,

"Now do you see? Greed!" the vampire laughed walking down the stairway from his throne toward Kiln.

Kiln readied his blade, hatred burned inside of him. He stood still waiting for Greed to make the first move.

Kiln
Sorry it took me so long to write this but the RP is extremely time consuming...not to mention everyday life...anyways hope you like it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He hoped the vampire was right in the fact that he would survive...though it didn't seem likely at the moment. Kiln couldn't deny that he was afraid, but he knew he must kill the fiend, or be killed.

As Greed approached him he kept careful watch of his movements. He moved side to side nearly crouched, trying to confuse Kiln. The vampire held a small dagger, a strange red glow lit the blade, enchanted no doubt.

Kiln readied the circle shield for a blow, his armor restricted fast movement at close range so he kept his distance, not to mention the short blade that could jab him if he didn't.

Kiln half crouched as Greed moved towards him with a quick jab. Kiln knew he was being tested carefully for weaknesses and did his best to hide the ones he knew about.

Greed stared into his eyes, Kiln could see the mixed emotion in the eyes of the vampire. He could see calm and at the same time he saw fear. Kiln broke eye contact and swung left toward his opponent's side, as he did so Greed jumped, placing his foot on Kiln's knee and pushed off kicking him to the ground face first.

Kiln was half way up when he was knocked back down by the vampire jumped on him trying to keep him on the ground. Kiln struggled violently as a dagger slid past his head nearly hitting him.

He rolled over on top of Greed, and grabbed the creature's hand slamming it to the floor trying to make him drop his dagger. Greed was much stronger than Kiln and threw him aside and stabbed him in the leg with the dagger.

The wound sizzled and burned, Greed held the dagger in as Kiln yelled out in pain. With his full effort Kiln managed to force the dagger from his leg and punch Greed in the face. Kiln kept hold of the dagger and readied slouched forward looking at the tomb's floor.

Blood flowed freely from Kiln's leg as he sat there on his knees. He looked up at Greed who had grabbed his longsword upon losing the dagger.

"You have lost adventurer...I must say I'm quite surprised...I was sure you would live." Greed said surprised

Greed stepped forward and jabbed the blade into Kiln's stomach. Kiln pulled Greed closer and stabbed the dagger into the side of his neck sending blood spraying across the nearby gold.

Kiln watched in satisfaction as the vampire fell backwards with the dagger still in his neck the flame enchantment sizzling all the while.

He looked down and pulled the blade from his gut, quickly covering it with his hands to slow the bleeding. Soon he fell backwards staring at the roof of the building,

At least Dulnea's infection would be stopped...even if it was Kiln's time to die, blood flowed through his fingers as Kiln lied on the floor. His strength was fading he was losing too much blood.

"So this is how it ends." Kiln said to himself

Great update with a nice fight scene. Keep up the good work Kiln
Kiln
Echoes came from the tunnelway, Kiln looked towards the dark entrance. He didn't move to see who it was, he wasn't strong enough to sit up so he lied there waiting for the person.

Kiln figured it was the angry Nord outside, but he knew it wasn't when he heard a voice,

"Come on, hurry up!"

Kiln was relieved at the voice of what seemed to be a woman but rather than try to yell he just listened, there was another voice,

"I'm hurrying woman!" the male said

"Hurry faster, he could be in trouble." she replied

"You want to carry this equipment woman?" he said

Silence followed, fearing they had taken a wrong turn Kiln tried to yell but his voice had been replaced by a gruesome gurgling sound. Using what strength he had left he rolled to his side and spat the blood from his mouth.

"Help! I'm here..." Kiln yelled between coughs

"Hurry! This way." the woman yelled

The sound of footsteps became louder and more frequent. Soon two people emerged from the tunnel, one tall human, in imperial armor and the woman he had saved at the Council Club.

Kiln knew the man was called York, he had met him in the prison by some strange twist of fate. He didn't know the girl's name though.

He lied still as the woman cut a lage piece of cloth from one of her pantlegs and held it over the wound.

"You'll be fine Kiln, it takes more to kill a man." York said

"I've seen men die from less." Kiln said still afraid, he was cold now and starting to shiver

I know it's mostly chit chat but oh well...

good job kiln so will kiln take all of greed's stuff?

i do like your story Kiln....itīs really good....
Kiln
"Where where you for so long York?" Kiln asked wondering why he hadn't come back to the prison

"I go off and kill an ash vampire, dozens of servants...and I come back to find you freed from the prison and off to kill a vampire...congratulations." York said grabbing his hand and shaking it

"This is hardly the time York." The woman said somewhat annoyed

"Just congratulating the man, he killed his first vampire...maybe Caius was right..." York said but quickly stopped

Caius? That name brought memories of the journal, York's father worked for Caius. Kiln had nearly stopped bleeding now, there were several questions he wanted to ask but one seemed more important than the others. Kiln looked up at the beautiful dunmer woman,

"We've yet to have a proper introduction, what's your name?" Kiln asked her

"Well, Kiln you may call me Rami." She told him

Kiln would've held out his hand had he been stronger. He tried to sit up but he was tired and couldn't hold up his weight. Rami ran upstairs and brought back a blanket from one of the beds upstairs, covering Kiln with it...keeping his body heat was essential to his survival.

"Let us get back to town, I have to see Dulnea." Kiln whispered

"We will go back when you are strong enough, and no sooner." Rami said demandingly
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry this is so short, someone's asking me to get off the computer...and I dare not disobey. smile.gif
Has anyone made York's connection yet?
Soulseeker3.0
good job Kiln. and about York, is he the Neverine in your story?
Kiln
Maybe Seeker, just maybe.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kin fell asleep, and dreams came to him telling him to serve his master and come take his place among the others. Strange colors swirled around him and a man in a mask bade him to join him.

And just like that Kiln awoke sitting strait up,

"What in oblivion happened?" He asked York as he rubbed his eyes

"What do you mean?" York said with an arched eyebrow

Kiln sat up with his newfound strength looking around dazed and confused. A pain still remained in his stomach where he had been stabbed, he grabbed it with his hand and looked at it carefully.

"She took care of ye quite well eh?" York asked

"The wound still feels fresh." Kiln said still staring at the scar

"It's all in yer head boy." York said with a small grin

"Indeed." Kiln said looking around the room

"Sorry I couldn't meet you back at the prison, I had a bit of business to tend to." York said

"What sort of business?" Kiln asked

"Nothing too important friend." York said refusing to tell him

Kiln wondered why he was avoiding the subject but his mind strayed to the journal. He scooted and put his back to the wall. No sooner than he flipped to the last page York was right beside him carefully reading along.

"I managed to retrieve the small puzzle box and escape the ruin. After returning to town and giving him the box he gave me a piece of paper and told me to give it to Caius quickly, I'm not sure if it was urgent or if he just wanted me to leave so he could study his precious box."

York stared blankly into the journal carefully absorbing every ounce of information about his father, it was a strange feeling for Kiln sitting next to his son but he continued reading on,

"After returning the paper the spymaster told me I looked dull. Not sure what he meant by that but he told me to go out and have some fun. So I went to buy some armor, I'd needed it for some time now. Bought myself some of the nicest steel I could afford from that little elf and I was off to rent a room at the eight plates. Caius said I could stay with him but it was just too strange to share a bed."

York laughed and stood up,

"She should've been back by now." York said staring at the dark tunnel

"Where did she go?" Kiln asked

"She went upstairs to find some food, let's go have a look for her lad." York said

It surprised Kiln that he could stand, he was refreshed and ready. Kiln laughed and looked at York,

"How did you get rid of that Nord anyways?" Kiln asked

He could tell something was wrong by the look on York's face,

"What nord?" York asked

Both of them paused, looking at the tunnelway and ran for the house in a dead run.

Just so you know...chater 5 started on the 7th page on this site...so...here's the next chapter.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 6

Kiln and York continued on through the tunnel, finally arriving at the door with the special lock. It was shut tight, Kiln fiddled with the key and turned it in the lock. The lock clicked but when Kiln pushed the door it was clear that someone had barricaded them inside.

"What the bloody 'ell is going on here?" York yelled losing his temper

"Just shut up and push." Kiln commanded while pushing the door

The door moved slowly revealing several dressers and a table holding it shut. The men hit hard with their shoulders opening the door a little bit further each time until finally it was open enough they could get through.

They could hear her screaming loudly outside the building they opened the door slowly.

"Quit fighting you stupid wench!" the nord said drawing back to hit her

York stepped outside, he was not a man to be trifled with.

"You want your woman? Come take her you big stupid brute." the nord said taunting York

York drew his blade and readied himself, Kiln stood and watched.

The nord stabbed for York's stomach but York brought his fist down upon his back, nocking him to the ground and bringing his blade into his back, killing him.

Kiln stood in amazement...it would have taken him half an hour to kill that nord. Yet York accomplished it in just a few minutes. York grabbed the blade of the sword and wiped the blood off on his glove.

He sheathed his blade and with clean hand, he helped Rami to her feet.

"We should probably get back to town...only take what you can swim with..." York said walking toward the entrance

Kiln happily headed back downstairs to collect his treasure. He looked around, there was so much to take. He loaded his pack with at least five hundred septims, maybe more, he didn't count.

"I still have to pay Dulnea for the times I rented the room..." Kiln said grabbing another handfull

York came back down,

"You almost ready?" he asked Kiln as he searched through the piles of gold around the room

"Almost...there must be enough to fill up ten great house treasuries here." Kiln said searching for anything interesting

York bent down and grabbed a handfull of gold,

"This should hold me..." he said

Kiln was ready to leave now, he took the exquisite dagger he'd left near the vampire's body as a tropy. In clear writing it said, "GREED".

After reading that it finally sunk in...it was a warning, not to take more than you need to get by. Kiln emptied the bag onto the ground,

"What are you doing Kiln?" York asked clearly confused

"Putting it back..." he replied

Kiln took only enough to pay off his debts, buy food, repair his armor, and buy a fresh set of clothes...just enough for what he needed but no more.

"I don't understand." York said

"Let's go back to the city...wait..."Kiln said grabbing another handfull of gold but putting it in his pocket, keeping it seperate from the rest

"You are probably the weirdest adventurer I've ever met...what is the last handfull for?" York asked

"This one is for the temple." Kiln said walking back up through the tunnels

He had never given to the temple before but somehow he wanted to today. Kiln and York walked side by side toward the entrance,

"So after we leave where are you headed?" York asked

"First to go check on Dulnea at the temple and then I'll be off to spend this money on things I've needed for a long time." Kiln told him

"I'll be in balmora for a few days...seeing a friend of mine..." York said

"Really...who?" Kiln asked

"Caius Casades, I've known him since I arrived on Morrowind." York said

Kiln stood for a moment...staring at the muddy wall, thinking hard as he often did.
Had York and his father Tiren both worked for Caius? Kiln would pay this Caius fellow a visit when the opportunity presented itself but for now he had to swim out of the cave.

Kiln
Kiln shared the last water breathing potion with York and Rami. Kiln was the first into the water, York following closely and Rami in the back. They arrived at the door which stood wide open...nobody had closed it.

They all emerged from the water. Kiln felt like a fool, why had he always closed the door behind him? It was much easier leaving it open.

Together they walked towards Balmora. Rami and York laughed and joked but Kiln didn't pay much attention, he started to wonder if the guarskin pouch the journal was in had kept it dry so he pulled if from his pack and opened it.

The pages were dry and Kiln opened the journal, reading as he walked,

"I arrived at the Eight plates, the woman that runs it is unfriendly and rude at times to say the least."

Kiln stopped and thought for a moment...that didn't sound like the Dulnea he knew...he must have done something to make her mad, Kiln read on,

"She's hated me everysince I mistook her for an entertainer...she just can't let it go..."

Kiln laughed at the thought and heard York say something but he ignored it and started to close the journal before he tripped and landed face first in the mud.

York laughed and pulled him to his feet,

"I said watch for the mudhole Kiln...should've been listening." he laughed picking up the journal and handing it to him

They entered the town walls and stopped,

"This is where we split up friend. I'll be at Caius' place if you need me." York said walking off

Rami stood there next to Kiln looking at him.

"Where are you off to then?" Kiln asked her

"I have nowhere to go...I guess I will stay at the temple until I decide what to do." She said

"Why don't you come to the Eight plates with me...have a drink maybe?" Kiln asked waiting for her reply

"Alright, I'd like that." She replied

Kiln's plans for a new blade were ended, tonight he was spending a part of the money on booze. The two of them made their way to the Eight plates and had a few drinks before renting Kiln's favorite room for the night.

Kiln sat up the next day looking around the room. Rami was gone,

"This happens every time I get drunk." Kiln said thinking it all to be a dream

He sat up and rubbed his eyes and scooted his feet across the floor.

Then Rami entered the room with breakfast. Wonderful smells filled the room as he accepted the plate. He couldn't help but think he'd forgotten something. After a few moments he sat the plate down on the bed and jumped off, running upstairs.

"Where are you going?" Rami yelled after him

He had rented a bed from Dulnea and didn't even think about it. He stumbled up the stairs and grabbed Dulnea, hugging her tightly.

"It worked....it worked." Kiln laughed

"What?" she asked him

"I killed the vampire...it worked." Kiln said happily

"You killed him?" she asked

"Yes it was me...I couldn't let you be a vampire...nobody else lets me stay at their inn for free..." Kiln joked

"Calm down child...all is well." Dulnea smiled a quick smile and it faded as she went back to stocking the shelves

"I'm just glad to see you're alright." Kiln said now standing behind the bar

Rami walked upstairs and stood in front of the bar,

"I'll have a flin barkeep." she said with a smile

"Sorry we're out." Kiln said staring at her

The drunks turned around and started yelling,

"No more flin?" one asked

"How are we gonna survive off of this mere fifteen bottles?" another yelled

The yells blended together loudly, there were more men than usual here and they were becoming upset.

"I was just joking...calm down...we have plenty more." Kiln said hoping to calm them down

They all turned back,

"Anyways...have I told you all the story of when I went..." The older one started but was interrupted

"Yes grandfather...many times." He said drinking more flin

Kiln went back to his own business now, he was still tired. Rami looked at him,

"You sleep well?" she asked laughing

"Not a wink." Kiln said now polishing a bottle of flin with a piece of cloth

York walked in and interrupted their conversation, he looked quite serious. Something was wrong by the look of him. York always looked happy and friendly, even when he was fighting, but this was different.

"Kiln, I must speak to you...in private." York said quietly

"Rami, please stay here and keep an eye on my friend Dulnea?" He asked not really expecting an answer

"Keep yourself out of trouble now Kiln." Dulnea yelled at him

"Don't worry about me Dulnea. I'll return shortly." He said walking outside with York

He stood there for a moment,

"I am about to tell you something very important...and trust it will stay between us." York waited for him to reply

"Of course York, you can trust me." Kiln replied

"Alright Kiln, I work for the blades. I have been tasked with my father's job...he dissappeared, leaving his task unfinished so the spymaster found me and asked me to continue my father's work" York explained

Kiln stood there for a moment, York did not know of his father's fate. He hadn't told him yet. And what task did the journal speak of? Perhaps York would elaborate. He would question him later but commoners began to walk towards them so they stopped talking for the moment.

DUm DUM DUUUUUMMMM!!!!! good job Kiln, keep up the good work
Kiln
York hid his face as the priests walked by.

"What is going on York?" Kiln asked when the coast was clear

"The temple isn't too happy with me at the moment." York said peeking around the corner at the priests

"What have you done?" Kiln asked anxiously

"There is too much to explain...I need your help, meet me at the fort outside Balmora in two days. I'll explain there...bring your blade and armor." York said handing him the bread he'd been eating

Kiln stood there with the bread in his hand, he'd started to ask another question but York turned and pulled a hood over his head, leaving in the direction of the town wall.

After a few moments Kiln returned inside the Eight Plates and opened the sack filled with his belongings.

"How much did I owe you for all my past expenses Dulnea?" Kiln asked counting out his gold

"There's no need to worry about that Kiln...you know that." she said staring at him

"I'd like to take care of my debts...how does two hundred drakes sound?" He said still counting

"You know it's nowhere near that...what's wrong?" she said worried

"Nothing is wrong...consider the extra money future payment." Kiln said trying to cover up his worries

"Fine then...whatever you're up to...you'd better be careful." she stared at him

"Don't worry about me...I will be fine." Kiln said shoving the gold across the counter

Dulnea took it and stashed it carefully away in a chest nearby. Rami stood from the table and stood beside him. He turned, walking in the direction of the door.

"Where are you going?" Rami asked

"Just outside for a while...I need to think...that's all." Kiln said walking around the corner and leaving the pub

He stopped to think of the things that had happened recently. His life had gone from bad to worse lately and finally just when it started to get better than usual York showed up with in need of help.

How he would help him remained a mystery, the details were very vague. It seemed York was in over his head but what had happened?

Thoughts blended as he stood outside looking up at the sky. It was brighter than it had been in weeks, perhaps this thing York needed help with would end shortly after it started but Kiln had the distinct feeling that things were about to get alot harder.

He did not yet know of what was soon to come.

That's it for now...I'll try to write more tomorrow or a few days after my surgery if I'm not able to continue tomorrow.

Finally caught up with this wonderful story. You continue to do a fine job of weaving the detail from the journal into the "present." The introduction of York as Tiren's son was a surprise.

The action and intrigue make for a wild ride.

Great as usual, I'll continue my best efforts to keep up.
