Kiln
He walked over to the table that had been moved outside. Some old metal cups had been brought outside and sat up on the table as targets. A few of the guards played along with the prisoners.

It was a betting game and two people played at a time. When the guards played they always bet liquor but when it was between prisoners they usually bet a portion of their dinner rations for the following day. Money had no value in prison so it wasn't an option to gamble their money away.

After watching for awhile he joined in one of the matches and he was given six rocks to hit five cans leaving room for only one miss. Kiln stepped back behind the line and threw the rocks with as much precision as possible. This game wasn't one of his favorites because with the six rocks he only knocked over two cans.

The guards took the prisoners back inside for bed but Kiln was taken to the side. After a few moments Larrius Varro came outside and stood for a moment looking him over.

His weapons and chestplate were brought, he was then told to go to the thieves guild in Balmora to find out exactly who the bad people were. Kiln still didn't like the idea of killing someone but nonetheless he set out for Balmora to do as he had been told.

Varro told him while he had still been in the prison that if he refused to do as he was told then he might accidentally get blamed for the murders of the bad people when some other good public servant happened to kill them.

Kiln decided to go find the bad people but rather than killing them he would inform them that Larrius was looking to have them executed so they would have time to escape. If they left town then Larrius would think they were dead anyways so this would work to both his and their advantage.

The plan was foolproof...at least he thought so.

Bad people are people too! tongue.gif
Kell-Reevor
Good job so far, thats the first time I've ever heard of anyone wanting to spare the Commona Tong. I'd like to see how this turns out, hehe.
Kiln
Kiln doesn't know they are Commona Tong guys, he just thinks they are people Varro holds a grudge against. Larrius is corrupt after all, he just uses people to kill others and releases them from prison for it...he is a bad person too.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kiln arrived at the first bridge to Balmora, he sat down and let his bare feet dangle in the water, wishing he had brought his shoes with him. The sharp rocks on the ground pierced his feet and burned from lying in the sun. It was incredibly hot outside but the clouds were moving in above the city.

Hopefully they were rainclouds, at least it would cool off outside if it stormed. Kiln stood and continued on to look for the thieves guild but obviously it would not be clearly marked.

He bumped into an argonian and knocked it down. Quickly, Kiln held out his hand to help it up but it would not take his hand. She slowly recovered to her feet and Kiln apologised and asked the woman where he might find the guild of thieves.

After a few moments of silence she finally told him to cross the river and look for the small inn, but she warned that common folk don't go in there because they know it's a very popular thieves hangout.

This was good to know for Kiln though. He crossed the bridge over the river slowly, admiring every inch of the town he had stayed in for so long. After being here for so long he still didn't know the lower half of the city and he never even knew there was a thieves guild in Balmora.

Finally he entered the building and glanced at some of the patrons, they didn't seem like thieves until he turned to go further into the building and he felt something moving in his rucksack.

He turned around but wasn't surprised to see the Bosmer trying to steal from the pack hanging over his back. He pulled his sword and pointed it as the mans throat.
The small elf looked petrified and the woman near him pulled her dagger.

He put away his sword and tried to talk to the people about the bad people's whereabouts but they wouldn't answer him so he continued on to speak to the Khajiit woman at the end of the hall. She was nice and polite but when he looked away he noticed she was looking him over for anything she might be able to steal.

He kept his hand on his sword though so none of the thieves could take it, it was his most valuable belonging by far. After he told her he would kill the bad people she told him they hung out in the Council club near the silt strider port.

Kiln left the building in a hurry, he was off to warn the people that Larrius had marked them for death.
Kell-Reevor
I never viewed Larrius as corrupt but I guess you do have a point.

Lets see what happens when he finds out they are Commona Tong.

Well in the game he is more of a good guy that needs help to inforce the peace but in my story Kiln misunderstands what he is doing and views him as corrupt.
Kiln sees him as trying to have him kill innocent people because they are getting in the way of something, because he doesn't know that the bad people really are very bad people. Soon he will understand that Varro is just trying to help justice along a bit.
Kiln
I wanted to update earlier today but lightning hit the power and my computer got messed up, still not sure what it was but I turned it on a few minutes ago and it was fine...I'm so happy. biggrin.gif
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kiln walked back across the bridge and toward the Silt Strider port, turning right and reading the sign. He had found the Council Club and slowly opened the door. A horrid smell hit his nose when he entered, there was no visible source of light in the building.

He took a few steps and tripped over something in the floor. He struggled to his feet and rushed outside through the door. He pulled a self-made torch from his pack and lit it using the flames of one of the torches the guards had set aflame.

He entered the door once again and looked on the floor where he had tripped, there was a single body. He was a dunmer male and he had been dead now for several days from the smell emanating from his corpse.

Kiln put his free hand on his blade and drew it parshally from it's sheath. He continued deeper into the building but as he delved deeper, the smell of death and decay overwhelmed him.

He saw the bodies of several more people littering the floor, seeing a cloth on the table, he picked it up and covered his mouth and nose with it. The smell was horrible, one man was sitting in his chair, he hadn't even gotten to his feet before getting killed.

The attack had been done with precision and agility, it didn't appear that there had been a major struggle here, and that was what had scared Kiln the most. Everyone was armed but only a few had even pulled their blades.

Satisfied with the horror he had seen in the first two floors he headed down the stairway to the lower floor. The smell was here as well and the door looked like someone had forced their way into the room behind it.

There was a man laying in the floor, fully armored, with blade in hand. He had been prepared unlike the others yet he had still fallen. Kiln saw papers lining the floor and picked them up, stuffing them into his pack.

He left the room and stepped to the next door. This door was standing open and on the bed lied a single body, the dunmer woman hadn't even been awakened by what had happened. He approached to inspect her corpse but then something strange happened, she moaned and rolled over.

The torchlight illuminated the room and the woman was unconscious but she was in fact alive. Without thinking he sheathed his sword and picked the woman up from the bed and was off for the temple. Thoughts exploded in his mind and he was forced to think many things in a short period of time.

Why had she been spared? Why hadn't she awaken when he picked her up? What had happened? He didn't know but he would investigate once again after dropping the woman off with a healer.
Kell-Reevor
Certainly wasn't what I was expecting, but I like it.
Soulseeker3.0
wow different but yes it is good.
Kiln
Sorry guys but Kiln isn't really a great fighter in the previous parts so I couldn't really have him kill all those people...I just couldn't find a way to do it, so thats the best thing I could think of...not sure if I like it so much... kvright.gif
Kiln
Kiln moved as quickly as he could but the extra weight of the girl slowed him down. A guard quickly rushed to his aid and helped him carry her up the hill to the temple. He entered the temple and lied her down on one of the beds in a nearby room.

The priestess and several of her disciples rushed to the room and surrounded her, examining her carefully. Kiln noticed how some of the people were looking him over carefully when he looked away. What was going on?

They found a small stab wound in her stomach and Kiln was rushed out of the room as they began to disrobe the woman to clean the cut. He was given a chair and he sat in the main entrance near the door. A man emerged from the room and hung a curtain over the doorway of the room and quickly turned and went back inside.

The guard that had helped him pulled up a chair and sat beside him, the guard was a brute of a nord but his face was quite kind and friendly,

"Is that yer lass Kiln?" the guard asked with a strange accent

Kiln was caught off guard and he asked the guard,

"Wait how'd you know my name?"

"Everyone round these parts knows your name young sir." the guard replied

The guard smiled and removed a paper from a pouch on his belt. He then rolled the paper out and snapped it tight so Kiln could read it. On the paper was a stunning representation of Kiln and clearly it was his wanted poster.

He scanned the paper, "Kiln, wanted for several counts of both breaking and entering and theft of personal property, may be armed and potentially dangerous, report on sight."

Kiln stood and took one step in the direction of the door but the guard put out one arm and forced him back into the chair.

"Just go about yer business and we won't be botherin' ya."

"Shouldn't you he trying to arrest me?" Kiln said suspiciously

"Nah to be honest with ya I'm to drunk to fight ya so I'll leave ye be for now." the guard said laughing

"So you're not going to try and arrest me?" Kiln asked amazed

"Not at the moment, I do wonder though who is the lass?" he asked

Kiln thought for a moment and explained that he had found her in the Council Club. The guard didn't seem surprised at what had happened and even told him it was just a matter of time before those thugs were killed by someone.

Kiln asked what he meant and after a long conversation with the man he found that the Council Club was a known hangout for the Commona Tong. Kiln thought for a moment and couldn't believe he was going to try and help them escape.

Then Kiln's mind returned to the woman, was she Commona Tong? He asked the guard and he said that the reason she was still alive was because she probably wasn't Commona Tong.

A priest emerged from the room and walked toward Kiln and the guard. Kiln could tell by the look on his face that he recognised him as well as the guard had.

Soulseeker3.0
wow that was great, and I understand about the fight.
Kell-Reevor
Yeah, it was great. And sometimes you really don't need a good fight scene to make a great story, it was a good decision on your part.
Kiln
Thanks everyone. smile.gif I was seriously thinking of stopping this story because it wasn't going anywhere but I've got an idea now.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kiln stood to introduce himself,

"Hello, my name is..." he was cut off mid sentence by the priestess

"My name is of little importance and we are all well aware of who you are Kiln" she said and then pointed to the wanted poster beside the door

"Fine then we'll skip to the point, how is the girl?" Kiln asked anxiously

"Why do you not call her by name?" the priestess asked

"I don't know her name woman just tell me if she's alright." Kiln demanded

"Better do as he says ma'am he's a dangerous one he is." the nord joked

"You should have arrested him if you are worried so much." the priestess snapped at him

The nord just laughed and sat there without moving. Kiln told her that he had found her unconscious and brought her to the temple. Her facial expression changed and she looked more calm and the mad look about her had all but left.

"You did the right thing in bringing her here." the priestess told him

"So will she be alright then?" Kiln asked

"There is a problem, she was stabbed with a poisoned blade. The poison is beyond our help, she will not wake until the antidote is found." she said sorrowfully

"Where can this antidote be found?" Kiln asked

"None can be sure but this particular poison is favored by vampires and from what you have told me of the Council Club that is probably the case." she told him

"Where could I find this vampire?" Kiln asked

"I cannot be sure, it is not your job to find him, he will find you." she said turning and entering the cloak covered room.

Kiln sat back down wondering what the woman had meant but he would soon find out. While he was waiting he opened the journal, it was obvious that some of the pages had been torn out of it though so he went to the nearest page that was whole,

"Today I returned to the half crazed man on the hill who claimed to be the spymaster he gave me orders to report to a man at the fighters guild to get some information from him, he also added that I might have to do a chore for him in exchange for the information."

Kiln viewed Tiren as an errand boy for a spy and half laughed but quickly his thoughts returned to York, where was he anyways?

Kiln wondered for a moment and then remembered that he had to go back to the prison soon to report that he had killed the bad people. Nobody would know the difference anyways, they were in fact all dead.

He left the building, the night sky was lit well by one of the moons and he walked through the city toward the fort.

Are there any vampires around Balmora? I need a vampire but if there aren't any nearby I'll have to make one up with reasons for killing the Commona Tong people.

Hmmm... I do not remember. But, the clans are in different locations in Morrowind. One of which is in Malog Mar(sp?) or something like that.

Here is a site with some info on clans, powers, and locations. Also, there are also individual vampires, if I remember correctly.

Hopefully, that helps just a tiny bit! smile.gif

EDIT: Hmm... I think the Berne clan might be near Balmora. Found in, and I quote from the site, "Andrethi Ancestral Tomb (West of Balmora)."
Kiln
Thanks, I'm looking for individual vampires or loners that don't belong to any clan.
If I can't find one I will make one the plot is essential to have a very old vampire.

No that can't be right I thought the Berne clan were in a dwemer ruin quite a ways in the ashlands. I know the Aundae clan is in an ancestral tomb on an island south of Dagon fel and the quarra are in a dwemer ruin in the Foyada Mamea. I'll just make a new one.

Well, that is one of the places where other Berne clan members can be found, at least that is what the site is saying. (And I trust this site for most of my quests, so I guess it should be mostly right.) huh.gif

Perhaps, check gamefaqs.com and search for Morrowind from there. There are a few Vampire FAQ's there. Maybe that could help. kvleft.gif Or perhaps check the Imperial Library?
Kiln
Sorry Mergirl I thought you meant the main HQ was located there not just a small group or something, I was thinking about their main base sorry to be a jerk. embarrased.gif
Thanks but still though I'll make a new vampire and use the tomb as a reference.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kiln crossed the bridge and continued down the worn path to the fort still wondering if he should wait for the vampire as the priestess had said or if he should seek him out.

After thinking for a while he decided that he would seek him out but first he would report that he had killed the bad people Varro had spoken of. At first he was saddened by their deaths but when he had found that they were vicious thugs he was somewhat relieved though he still was afraid to confront the vampire.

It was clear that the vampire had something against the Commona Tong and thats why the girl had been spared, she wasn't one of them but the vampire probably realised too late. At least he hadn't killed her like he'd done the others.

His thoughts returned to him as he entered the arch. The guards all looked at him differently now, surprised to see him alive. He walked into the fort and asked the huge nord where he could find Varro. The man gave him directions and he excused himself to other matters.

Kiln walked into the bunkhouse and saw Varro downstairs writing a letter. He approached and Varro stood up and smiled merrily.

"I've done as you asked." Kiln told him

"I heard that they had been killed in a way that looked like it was executed by a professional, I am very pleased. To be honest I didn't expect you to return." Varro said with a mocking grin

"Indeed but I have returned, so what now?" Kiln asked anxiously

"Oh yes, you and I will go into town tomorrow and and I will call a meeting to declare that through further investigation we have found you innocent of all charges first thing in the morning." Varro explained

"Fine, what do I do until then?" Kiln asked

The guards walked in and grabbed Kiln by the arms carefully, they didn't want to annoy him, they thought he had killed all those people with ease.

He was put in his cell and was served some of the horrible muck they called food.
He was tired but had read the journal very little lately so he decided that for now thats what he would do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The journal entry will be in the next part, sorry.

A very nice story and it has jumped up to over one hundred posts in juct a matter of days. That shows either you've got alot of little side talk going on in there or its a very good story. For me? I believe its the second one. Loved it and i wish for it to continue.

I try and measure what I write in how many people have viewed my story, whether it is just a part or the entire story I don't know but at least I know they've seen it...don't get me wrong though I love getting feedback for what I write, good or bad...now that I think of it I prefer good. tongue.gif
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"After I arrived at the fighters guild I asked around and found out my contact was in the lower section of the building. I continued down until I reached the bottom level, I heard the distinct sound of blades clashing and I entered the room. The two people fighting there paid littled attention to me until they were done fighting."

Thinking back to the night Serene had taken his bed at the inn and he slept at the fighters guild, Kiln figured it was probably the imperial that trains all the newcomers to the guild though he couldn't remember his name. Kiln read on.

"He described to me the location of some sort of ruin, he wants me to go to this ruin and collect for him some sort of plans...I believe he called it a dwemer puzzle box and added that they were quite rare. I'll get ready to leave tomorrow this errand sounds simple."

Kiln's thoughts were interrupted by the loud yell of a guard telling them to go to sleep. Kiln knew better than to disobey the guards so he put away the journal and lied down. He was anxious for the coming day, his name would be cleared and he would search out the vampire.

The next day he was awaken by the guards and he was fed breakfast. A short time after eating, the guards came to his cell and opened it. He was taken to the living quarters to meet with Varro.

Varro finished putting his armor on and he motioned for the two guards to follow, he led Kiln outside and they walked slowly down the road.

"Alright Kiln, it seems that our agreement has come to an end. The important people of town, mainly shopkeepers and the great house members have been called to a meeting in the upper section of town." Varro said

"Why might I ask?" Kiln said

"So that I can finally clear your name kid." Varro replied

"Why only the important people?" Kiln asked

"You don't want anyone important thinking you're a thief do you?" Varro said

"Fine then, I wish everyone would be informed though." Kiln said quietly

"The wanted signs have been removed, oh yes you will be happy to know that your friend in prison has completed his assignment and has been freed as well." Varro told him

"I'm just glad to leave that place." Kiln said relieved

"You performed your task very quickly and with great skill, should you be looking for another job, please stop bye." Varro said

"I was hoping never to see you again Varro." Kiln said laughing but he was quite serious

"I won't hold my breath." Varro replied

"Oh please do." Kiln said in a serious tone

Varro grinned as they walked through the archway into Balmora. Kiln wondered how the girl was doing, but cleared his mind when they walked up the stairs and entered the highest part of town.

Varro talked loudly so everyone could hear and gave a very long speech that Kiln didn't really listen to but everyone listened carefully. He was a true politician, something truly mystical about an imperial giving a speech.

After some time the people were dismissed from the town but they looked dissapointed. They were perhaps expecting an execution?
Varro turned and walked away motioning for his guards to follow.

Kiln headed for the mages guild, perhaps one of the mages knew if there were any nearby vampires.
Kell-Reevor
Good as usual, I really like the frequency of your updates.
You're probably getting tired of me saying 'good as usual', but really I mean it.

Hehe - I also need to say that its good, its good as always.. How many pages are you up to now? biggrin.gif

Well, I don't get tired of hearing comments even repetetive ones, at least I know you're reading it. smile.gif
Alright, I'm not sure how many pages I'm up to now but eventually when I can get time I'll go back and split everything into chapters and count the pages.
And finally, what's the deal with the "Jonajosa" smiley I haven't been here oh so long so could someone explain why you call them that?

Edit: My story without comments is roughly twenty eight full pages and part of another. That's as is with no chapters and or paragraphing(Also includes current spacing.).

Chapter 5

Kiln arrived at the mages guild and explained his situation with the head of the guild in Balmora. She seemed quite willing to help and she admitted she had seen a vampire there before but she didn't know how to find him.

Kiln continued to question her, eventually she told him that he usually came here only for a few minutes and always to chat with the same orc woman at the bottom of the stairs. He always needed several potions that would help him breath water for some odd reason.

He was pleased so he thanked her and walked down the stairs to the bottom floor, in all his years he had never been here before. It was exquisitely decorated with tapestry and wonderfully lit as well. Kiln stopped and admired the scenery before moving on to speak with the orc.

He introduced himself but she seemed suspicious and refused to divulge her name. He bought one potion of water breathing from her in hopes of starting a conversation.

"So, do you sell alot of these potions ma'am?" Kiln asked politely

"Enough to get me bye." she replied

"Who is your most frequent customer?" Kiln asked

"He calls himself greed, for that is what has become of him." She replied not really thinking of what she was saying

"Is he a strong looking sort of man?" Kiln hoped the vampire was small and weak

"He is a large man, if you can call him a man." She said putting potions on the shelf beside her

"Oh really...very interesting, where might I find him?" He asked

"It is not in my best interest to tell his location to a hunter, for you would be the prey good sir." she told him hoping to discourage him

"I don't seek to kill him, just a meeting with such a man would please me greatly."
he told her

She stopped stocking the shelves and stared at him looking him over carefully. She wasn't sure whether to trust him or not but she looked as if she could be easily convinced so Kiln took out his blade and asked her,

"Would it help if I left this here with a friend of mine?" He asked

"If you are willing to go to him unarmed then you are a fool sir." she said

"I will see him any way I can." he told her

She was convinced, if he was willing to leave his blade then his intention must not be to kill the creature. She told him to follow the river to the southern coast and go left across the bridge, continue following the coast, there has recently been a cavern dug out under water there.

She said to take the potion he had bought and drink it after he found the entrance, then he must swim as quickly as he can to get into the caves without drowning.
He thanked her and walked briskly out the door of the mages guild towards the river, he met the edge of the water and took off in a dead run following the directions he had been given.

Hope you guys like it...soon he will find Greed.

good job

and the history behind the Jonajosa is that a certain member (Jonajosa) ALWAYS used the goodjob smily and so eventually it got called the Jonajosa or the Jona. funny some guy got a smily named after him...... lucky dry.gif
Kiln
He ran until he could run no further, he had to get the antidote soon. The girl surely didn't have much time left, he would have to confront the vampire and get it from him.

He searched the coast, did she say left...no maybe right...wait...Kiln couldn't remember where she had said to look for the entrance. He could remember that it was under water but which direction?

First he went right, searching the coastline he found nothing so he crossed back over and searched the left side. He a small hill emerging from the water along the coast.

To the average person it would seem like just another hill but the shape defined it to Kiln. He slowly lowered himself into the water in front of the grotto. He held his breath and pushed open the door, after resurfacing for air he gulped down part of the potion and entered the place.

After a few feet he realised he should have gotten more than one potion, there weren't any visible sources of air. He swam violently searching for the surface leading into the cave.

Just as he had almost given up he saw light flickering on the top of the water. He swam to it and crawled out of the water slowly. The long swim had left him exausted but he trudged on through the muddy cavern. The section he was in was huge and dug out.

The tunnels led to the inside of the hill nearby, some of it had been hollowed out for use as a home for the vampire. The rock made room was filled with crates and barrels, likely his life supplies, but how could a vampire live so far from town?

Kiln walked the passage to the right it was blocked by a locked gate, Kiln quietly broke the lock off. There was actually a floor here, it was wooden but it was carefully crafted and fit the entryway perfectly. The next area was like a miniature square of a town.

The area was brightly lit by torches, it almost looked like daylight. Kiln walked down a few stairs to the house. The decorations gave slightly an imperial look to the place, it was like a developing community.

The ground was made of carefully carved rock, the surface was smooth and soft.
There was a single house crafted from the same thick plaster style homes as were used in Balmora but this one was much larger and it looked like good quality work, there were also two small shack type buildings, one on each side.

There was a Khajiit fetching water from a well that had been dug in town. She was tall and looked quite calm considering she was inside a vampire's lair. Kiln approached her and spoke,

"What are you doing here?" he asked softly

"I do work for my master and he allows me to stay here along with the others." she said

"What is your name woman?" he asked

"Call me cattle for that is all I am here." she said

It seemed as if she had been brainwashed, she didn't see a problem in sustaining a vampire.

"Leave this place woman, I have business to attend to with your master." Kiln said

"You've come here seeking Greed?" she said laughing

"Indeed I have." Kiln replied uneasy with her laughter

"As have many others, you seek Greed, but when you find him he will consume you." she told him

Kiln thought for a moment on whether greed was the vampire or if this was a metaphor. He couldn't be sure, it seemed that she was insane with her rambling.

"Enter his home and speak with him if you must but if you value your life you will leave this place and never return." she warned him

"I'll take my chances." Kiln replied opening the door and entering the home.

It was quite nice and welcoming but deep down Kiln was terrified, he kept reaching down to put his hand on his sword but he had left it with his dunmer friend at the mages guild.

He had been a fool to come here without his blade but he continued on through the massive complex in search of the creature called Greed.
Kell-Reevor
As usual, nice easy to read style.

I dont know how you can fit in so many updates, but keep it up!
Soulseeker3.0
nice little chat with the cattle. oh and the rest was good too tongue.gif
Kiln
The room was well decorated with expensive wares and brightly lit with candles. It was the opposite of what Kiln expected to find, he figured a vampire's stronghold would be dark and full of skulls and bodies, as many books described.

Kiln didn't know what to expect when he found the creature but he moved quitely about the house searching for the master quarters. He went down the stairs to a single door in the basement of the sprawling manor and examined the door.

It was huge and Iron, it didn't really fit in with the look of the house, it was locked with a special lock. It was shaped in the form of a huge Shalk beetle with a keyhole in the middle of it's back.

Kiln removed the thin piece of metal from his pack and probed the lock with it trying to figure out how to open it but it was unlike any lock he had encountered before. It was way to complex for even someone like him to open, and he prided himself on his ability to open even the toughest locks.

He wanted to know what was inside but first he would have to find the key. He walked back to the ground floor and heard someone talking. Afraid, he crouched and slowly made his way up the top floor.

It was the dining hall, the most expensive things in the entire house were in this room, expensive tapestry, painted pots, and imperial silverware decorated the table along with twelve distinct bottles of flin.

Kiln paid careful attention to his surroundings in case he needed to escape quickly, maybe too much attention. He approached an open door in the house and could hear the distorted speech of an imperial. He got closer and looked in, it was in fact Greed speaking to his pet rat, Kiln barely held in his laughter.

He moved closer and listened in on the one way conversation,

"Such a good boy aren't you? Here have some more." the vampire said in a dark voice holding out a small piece of bread to the rat

The rat squeaked merrily and took the bread from him. Kiln covered his mouth with his hand nearly unable to halter his laughter.

"Sit down boy come on." Greed said to the rat

It sat down and eagerly awaited more bread, holding out its paws to recieve it. Kiln was unable to stop himself and he laughed out loud. The vampire looked toward the doorway and yelled furiously.

"I thought I'd made it clear that I didn't want to be disturbed." Greed said angrily

Kiln stopped laughing and tried to decide what to do next.

"Come on, I don't have all day, what do you want?" Greed asked demandingly

Kiln froze next to the door, what would he do to him? The fact that he was unarmed weighed on his mind as he waited outside the room.

Heart warming huh? tongue.gif

Megil Tel-Zeke
absolutely wonderful, as usual rather humorous to. though i do not know if i'd burst out laughing if someone was talking to a pet, even if it was a rat.
Kiln
I thought it was funny to have such a feared vampire being all nice to his pet rat and getting mad when he thinks a servant is interrupting. Maybe I just have a strange sense of humor though. embarrased.gif

Kiln
Greed turned back around,

"Must've been nothing." he said

Kiln was relieved and he built his courage to enter the room as the vampire continued to baby talk the rat.

"Whatsa matter buddy? Did I scare you? I'm sorry buddy, here have some bread." he said

It wasn't quite so funny to Kiln this time after nearly being discovered, and one thing caught Kiln's eye. There was a dagger on the table, so he crept up slowly keeping his eye on the vampire all the while and put the blade into his sleeve.

He walked bravely to the open doorway and knocked lightly upon the side.

"What do you want?" Greed said without turning around

"I've come here to..." Kiln was cut off, his voice had told the vampire that he wasn't one of the servants

"Who the hell are you and why have you come here?" The vampire screeched at him before picking the rat up and putting him beside the bed

"I am Kiln, I have come to beg for your mercy." Kiln declared

"Wait...let me get this strait, you came here to beg for my mercy? If you hadn't come you wouldn't have to beg for mercy." Greed laughed

"I do not fear you sir, I beg for your mercy upon another. A girl I found at the council club in Balmora." Kiln said

Kiln thought, "I do not fear you." which couldn't be further from the truth and after realizing what he'd said he became even more afraid that the vampire would get angry and attack him.

"Yes I realised too late that she was not Commona Tong." The vampire paused and looked into Kilns deep black eyes to analyze him

Kiln stood strong, glaring back into the misty eyes of the vampire, staring him down.

"Why did you kill all of those people?" Kiln said to the huge Imperial

The vampire stood there looking at Kiln as if he feared him. Kiln hid his fear quite well though he was very afraid.

"I seem to have forgotten to introduce myself, you may call me Greed, as my real name had been forgotten over the years." Greed said changing the subject

"Why did you kill them?" Kiln asked again more forcefully this time

The vampire stared at the floor for a moment and sat in a chair beside the bed.

"You know I never wanted to be a vampire...some fifty years ago when the dark elves at that club were much younger, they turned away a starving imperial adventurer who came to their door in search of a meal." the vampire said staring at the floor as if he was recalling events

"That man was you then?" Kiln said

Greed ignored him and continued on,

"That man was me, my family was gone and I had no money to pay the tax collector. The Commona Tong as I have recently discovered treat all people not of their race horribly thats not the point though...after they turned me away I entered a tomb nearby to seek shelter and I was bitten by the cursed, a vampire."

Kiln was helplessly interested in hearing the vampire's story so he listened contently.

"I fled the tomb and soon became infected with the disease, first I feared it and then I embraced it, knowing I had no lifespan, I traveled Morrowind seeking fame and fortune and eventually earning the name Greed. As I grew used to hearing it from everyone including my servants I forgot my true name and now I sit here waiting for an adventurer to come kill me and claim my fortune."

"The Commona Tong were the first to turn me away and they were the first to pay for it, there will be more...many, many more." the vampire added

Kiln realised the horrified look on the vampire's face when he stood the vampire feared him...he was puzzled,

"What are you afraid of sir, just give me the antidote and I'll be on my way." Kiln assured him

"You are the one I have seen in my dreams, the one who will come to destroy me. Take the potion, but I know when return again it will be to end my life." Greed said

The thought of ever returning to this place had never crossed his mind, it couldn't be him that would end the vampire's life. Kiln thanked him but backed out of the room so his back wouldn't be exposed to the vampire, there would be no surprises.

Sorry about the long speech but the vampire had to describe why he had killed the Commona Tong.

Not a problem. Once again, great job. It's not often that you find many stories in which a character has a pet... especially if that character is supposedly an "evil" vampire.
MerGirl
Aw, poor vampy! So cute with him and his pet rat. smile.gif I really, really like this story and its characters, and I'm wondering what will happen next, so pweeeese continue? cake.gif

So far, it's very well-written, just a few typos here and there. No biggie. biggrin.gif

EDIT: Actually, I thought the speech was pretty good. I've seen other stories in which characters' speeches of backstory could go on for pages! blink.gif

Really? Speeches that long? I don't remember reading anything like that in your story. huh.gif

But, I mean, actual speeches that, for some reason, the characters have all of that extra time to talk about their life-story on and on. I do not mind if that's what the whole story is about, but just one minor character who's not really that important to the story (or at least, most of his backstory isn't), talking on and on about their traumatizing life or whatever for several pages irks me. dry.gif
Kiln
Sorry about typos this is basically a draft so spelling isn't that important to me at this point but on the final part I'll split it into chapters and check spelling, punctuation, and do the final paragraph spacing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greed didn't seem so bad but one thing that bothered Kiln was one particular part of his speech, "The Commona Tong were the first to turn me away and they were the first to pay for it, there will be more...many, many more." this seriously bothered Kiln, who would be next?

In Kiln's rush to exit the building he tripped and fell to the ground breaking something glass in his pack. After getting back to his feet he quickly opened his muddy pack and searched for what had broken.

The potion to help him breathe underwater had broken and he wasn't sure if he could hold his breath long enough to escape the caves. He knew he had to try, he took a piece of broken glass from his pack, it barely contained any of the potion.

Having the need to be quick, he held it up and let the contents that didn't soak his pack fun into his mouth. Then he dove deep into the water and swam as quickly as he could toward the entrance.

He was less than half way there when he felt the effects of the potion leave him, he knew he couldn't make it the rest of the way so he looked carefully along the top of the cave for some pocket of air that he might have missed on his way in.

He was out of breath, his lungs burned and he choked as he was forced to take in a breath of water. Trying to remain in control he swam rapidly for the main entrance of the cave.

There was one small hole above the water, he swam for it quickly, it was the only way.

Kell-Reevor
It may be short, but it's a great addition regardless.
