I wasn't sure if there was a reason Aravi was noticing how many guards stood at each gate or the accesses in the walkways (hadn't played this questline) - but it was a bit of camera jerking in it - may be better to have her slowly scan in places like that so the camera doesn't jerk so fast from side to side (at least for people like me who get motion sickness with fast camera spins like that). She did it again inside Ulfric's palace.

That Windhelm is about the ugliest city in Skyrim,

I see Aravi is back with Kharjo, and they are trying out their crossbows.

I like how Aravi stops to talk to everyone.

I have never understood the reasoning behind the Jarl of Whiterun (whoever that happens to be at the time) insisting on a truce between Imps and Cloaks before trapping the dragon. I mean, who is going to attack a city that has a dragon in it? That would be mad. It seems like a clumsy way of pushing your character toward doing the civil war questline, even if you do not want to do it. Bethesda seems to want to force your character into doing everything in the game.

Vid: Horse! A & K worked really well together against that frost troll; with Kharjo there, Aravi could keep on firing, knowing she was safe to do so. I’m glad you showed us so much of the Jarl’s conversation before Aravi hit him up with the truce request.

Aravi must feel happy to see more of her own kind. I know she's seen the caravans before, that's how she met Kharjo, but seeing a friendly face is always good. Too bad they can't go in the cities.

So she meets Ulfric, leader of the rebellion. That was a good speech. And a truce! Aravi finds herself as a messanger in politics. This will be good.

@Grits: There are fur cloaks, but the one Aravi is wearing in the ‘what she does best’ screen is linen. She doesn’t have Kharjo yet in her new game.

@mALX: Blood is modded. It makes the textures better, and it also adds more to bodies and weapons after a fight. If you notice pools of blood under dead bodies, that’s the mod as well.

@SubRosa: That might be why Aravi doesn’t ride them very much! I kind of get why Whiterun wants it. He’s assuming he’s going to lose a lot of troops when the dragon comes. Aravi’s still not doing the civil war though. I’ve only heard that it is boring. There’s a mod out that’s supposed to make it more interesting, but I’m going to wait a while before downloading it. Right now it sounds pretty buggy.

I quite enjoyed listening to the ‘cheerful’ Argonian as she was tanning that hide.

Oh my, the interaction with little Eliza Dolittle Sofie was wonderful! Your mastery of this medium really shines here as the flower girl tugged at Aravi’s heart, then Aravi looked at. . . her mate. Just a glance that so wistfully said, ‘Maybe someday’. Wonderful.

Vid: What a great character Shawee is! I loved her, and was touched by all the waterfront people of Windhelm. They were all pretty awesome characters, and suffering under a lot of prejudice - one of the reasons I found for not siding with Ulfric, being a beast race and seeing how he really felt about them. (and the reason I did the quests for them, champion the underdogs). I was surprised Aravi didn't take the quest!

GAAAAAH! What happened to the end of the vid? Urk, kind of broke off mid sentence, lol. Okay wait, something happened. The vid ended mid sentence in the shipping office, but when I went back it picked back up and there is a whole lot more to it!

Aah, now I get to see the scene Acadian was talking about with Sofie! Awesome! I can def understand why Aravi didn't offer to adopt her, not while she is gone all the time adventuring (and turning into a werewolf, lol).

This vid is one of my favorites, really showing a side of Skyrim that is such a small segment of it, genuinely likable characters! I loved this whole vid! Awesome update!

Your Windhelm sure looks cold and forbidding. I modded the weather so the days are sunnier. It makes the whole city look so different.

Aravi should have poked around some more in the Clan Shatter-Shield office. Suvaris' journal is an interesting read.

Oh, that explains the Khajiit. Malborn has a low survival rate in my games, and my ex-Legion Imperial Dovahkiin who saved him isn’t very welcome at the cornerclub. Or in Windhelm at all, for that matter.

Windhelm looks pretty grim. It was neat to see it through Aravi’s eyes. Even the guards seem big and dangerous. (Jensa lives there, and her view of Windhelm is very different though it looks the same.)

I just love Shahvee. It looked like Aravi really wanted to help her out, but she has other concerns right now.

Oh, poor little Sofie was all snowy! That was a touching scene with Aravi’s wish to help her and that little look back at Kharjo. Beautifully done.

I was chuckling over Aravi’s opinion of the cornerclub’s cleanliness. No surprise that she didn’t order a meal there. The barrels!! Rofl. That was adorable.

Screens: I like the hilt on the sword that back-stabbed guy is holding. Or maybe that’s the Nord talking.

Wow, draugr is neat! You caught the moment of impact on both of them. It’s fun to guess where new Aravi is and what she’s doing.

That’s such a gorgeous sky (and Khajiit ).

Woo hoo, leap is my favorite! What a joyful picture. I love it!

Forgot to add. The civil war is pretty dull. It is mostly a bunch of 'take the fort' quests that get very repetitive, before the first one is even finished! That's because instead of clearing them out like a regular dungeon, you have to kill x amount of enemy soldiers to win. But the game cannot render anywhere near the full amount of enemies. So as you kill them, more spawn, and more and more. So you just keep running around willy-nilly until you get to the limit.

The Battle for Whiterun is probably the most interesting, at least from the Stormcloak side, because you actually do have to fight your way through the city in stages. Its nothing special from the Imp side, because you just fight a battle outside the gates and that is it. The final battles of Solitude/Wihdhelm are alright, because again you have to fight your way through the cities. But you still get the magically spawning enemies until you enter Castle Dour or the Palace of Kings.

The war itself does not really change much at all. Most npcs do not even acknowledge that the war is over, or that there even was one. It is like it never happened. The biggest change is that if you go Cloak the Thalmor is thrown out of Skyrim. Which is to say the Thalmor patrols stop. Because they still have to keep The Thalmor Embassy and Northwatch Keep, otherwise it would break the quests associated with them.

The only other real difference is that the guard uniforms change in half the cities. To Stormcloak uniforms if you go Cloak, or to Legion if you go Imp. I like the variation between each city's uniform, so that right there is enough to keep almost all of my characters from doing the war.

I think the mod you mentioned is War Zones? It never looked that interesting to me. It just seems to add more pointless battles with way more opponents than most people's computers can handle.

Windhelm looks depressing, especially with all the racism going on against Argonians and the Dunmers(take that ya bunch of slavers!). Even so, Shavee isn't too let down. She's certainly happier than the non-humans who live there.

Aravi has a lot going on right now, and she would have been happy to get them a new necklace if they wanted one. Finding a stolen one in the city somewhere did not seem like a task she could do at the moment. (Even though I know a marker would have appeared somewhere and made it easy, I am pretending it wouldn’t have been.)

Being involved with dragons, werewolves, and vampires does not make a good environment for a child. Plus Aravi could be killed. Orphaned again? Thanks mALX!

She did poke around a little more than what I showed in the office, but she didn’t do more than peek inside a few containers.

Sofie and that girl in Whiterun are both difficult to resist. Sofie is adorable with her little flowers for sale. Aravi always buys every flower she has when she sees her.

Only a Khajiit would want to jump on the barrels.

I heard from a friend that the civil war is bland so I have no real intention to complete it. So far none of my characters have felt strongly for either side. I suppose that could change, but by then I hope to have a mod to make is a real conflict. The mod is called Civil War Overhaul.

Windhelm is an interesting city, especially how rough everything looks. It definitely feels like the focus of the ruler is elsewhere. Jensa’s opinion is interesting to hear. I love how different everything can be with just a different perspective.

The two Thalmor tend to kill him when they come to the top of the stairs in the torture part of Elenwen’s office building. They say something like ‘we’ve got your friend here’ followed by a death gurgle from Malborn. If memory serves they come in when my characters are checking the trap door, but it might be after that. Either way it’s a long sprint to get to them while they’re killing the wood elf. I’ll pay attention the next time a character gets that far. It could easily be a spawn point issue that’s been fixed.

What a wonderfully Buffy moment as Aravi runs to a private area and tries on a couple outfits, searching for one to have the desired impact! I agree with her choice. Armor was the right choice for this meeting of warriors in order to reinforce her credibility among those attending.

I know a lot of people love the peace council, but like you, it never did much for me. The whole trading holds things seemed forced and unrealistic to me. The whole thing feels pointless. And no matter how fair you try to be, one side or the other comes off pouting. If you are going declare a truce, you just stop fighting for a while. Its not complicated at all, and does not require any wheeling and dealing. The whole thing just makes me want to kill everyone.

There was a massacre at Karthwasten? The only massacre I recall is the Silver Hand mercenaries being massacred by my characters...

Is it just me, or does Elenwen sound like Katherine Hepburn?

Esbern proves that he is some use here, in digging up Odahving's name. I think this is the only time the Blades ever really do anything useful in the game.

Council 2: I’ve only done this once (with Rowan Varrus), so the council was interesting to me. (Though I recall Vorstag yawning loudly throughout.)

The whole thing reminded me of getting my old company’s sales, service, and engineering departments to cooperate. I had to run all over the building for days before a big meeting, pre-negotiating all kinds of silly crap. Then I had to sit there and pretend we all didn’t already know the outcome. (Well, our CEO didn’t. He was kind of a dimwit.) It looks like Aravi enjoyed the process as much as I did.

I thought Tullius was going to put Jarl Elisif over his knee! Good grief. Whoa, Arngeir knew a lot about the war for a hermit. Hmm.

Lol, was Aravi looking for the chimney? Her mind seemed to wander at the end.

The negotiation was one of those quests which you wanted to do something and something else comes up. And Delphine? That woman is up to no good at all. Never liked her. The Blades were so much admirable in Oblivion. But now they walk around with a chip on their shoulders

She’s still got that iron sword. It has a 10 shock damage enchantment that makes it barely better than the other things she has at level 20 now. She had an elven short sword for a bit but oddly enough Kharjo likes it best.

Kharjo was nice and quiet through the council. Aravi was the one that wanted to yawn!

Aravi was fortunate to find that ruin when the blizzard rolled through.

@DE: If only we could have had someone like Kodlak there. I like the climb to High Hrothgar too. I couldn’t show too much of it though.

No need to tell Aravi to keep her distance from a spider. She is never happy to see webs. At least Kharjo is a gentleman when it comes to squishing them. Usually.

Aravi always has a set of fur armor (the kind that covers the most) that she always wears in cold weather.

The Blades are downright useless. She isn’t protecting the Dragonborn, she isn’t out fighting dragons, and she isn’t out making hell for the Thalmor either. She just struts around and tells other people to do her job for her. Lol. Thanks DE!

A tough opponent

Love all these screens, especially the one where it looks like Kharjo (?) is biting down on lightning, lol. That one shows some blade clipping I’ve never noticed before in any screens, but is still one of my top shots of the four.

My absolute favorite of the bunch is Aravi and the moth, probably one of the coolest shots I’ve ever seen, most especially with the expression on Aravi’s face. Awesome shots!

Vid: I HATE those Sabre cats! Love the bandit’s brave challenges to Aravi while running away from her, lol.

OH! I saw a new move! Aravi picked one bandit up by the arm and flung him against a pillar!

I’m with mALX, when the outlaw’s taunt of, “You’ll make a fine rug, cat!” was quickly followed by a plea of, “Please don’t kill me!”

Woot! Another werewolf rampage as Aravi tears it up! I was glad to see she didn’t try to eat the Dwarven metal dude.

Poor Aravi. She woke up with, no doubt, bits of outlaw heart stuck in her teeth.

My it sure got dark in the time it took Aravi to eat those bandits. That is certainly a lovely blue and purple aurora though.

I think exploration was the neatest of the pics. I love the greenery, and Aravi's spots.

I would not want to be the tough opponent! Seeing those Khajiit rictuses is not a happy sight!

Exploration made me wonder if Aravi was going to leap on someone. There are some places I’m sure only a Khajiit climbs up to see.

Whoa, that was a great throw against the wall!

I really liked Aravi’s transition back to herself in this video with her walk back through her carnage and then leaving under the moonless sky. It kind of gave the sense that this is part of who she is, and she’s dealing with it.

@mALX: Yep that’s Kharjo, though he doesn’t have any lightning in his mouth, or at least I hope not. That wouldn’t be very safe…

All the swords clip a little when your character holds them like that. Nothing I can do about it.

About one minute into the vid (right after Aravi wakes up), you used an overhead view as she is walking to see the Jarl. The shadow and effect of that was very neat!

Wow, what a dragon fight! And she trapped it like a bug in a jar! Plenty of healing practice going on there.

Destruction – What a powerful set of scrolls! Even the aftermath is awesome.
Blood – One more reason to be an archer and avoid the. . . mess.

Resting is my fave of the screens, Aravi looks so relaxed and at peace, lol. Blood - man, that is a LOT of blood, really glad to know it wasn’t hers, but ... GROSS! Lol. Beautiful Night was gorgeous! The slow warm-up on those spells in Destruction - I was really hesitant to use my more powerful spells because while Maxical was getting all warmed up to cast them she could be killed by the attackers, lol. They take so long in controlling the player for them, lol.

This vid was AWESOME! Holy Cow! Loved it, that was great !!! Who was the man who kept hoping for Aravi’s defeat? LOVED this vid !!!

Aravi on hunt: Unleash your inner instinct. Even cats like to hunt, no? Cat vs cat at the start, and Aravi is quick with the blade!

Beast mode! Never gets old seeing Aravi run around tearing bandits up like paper. Eat them hearts, Aravi! Puts a whole new meaning to eating hearty!

Destruction- That sure looks like its going to be destructive! This girl is on fire!

Blood- Very bloody! Woah! That bandit got was coming for him.

Resting- I like this one very well. She's contemplating on something. Vampire hunting? Kharjo? Moon sugar?

So, the dragon snare worked. Caught like a bear in the trap. She sure tore him up at the wing there. This was quite the battle! Great update!

Wow, Oda came out of nowhere! That is one guard down. He kind of looks like a scorpion sitting there on the entrance. Now how do you get the dragon inside while everyone insists on fighting it outside? Ahh, that's how. Aravi was nearly barbecued first!

Destruction looks very ominous!

Blood is icky! But given how ugly that guy is, he's probably thankful to be dead.

Resting looks really nice. I like how you put the sword down beside her.

Beautiful Night is my favorite, for all the colors and Aravi's spots.

Destruction, wow. Aravi wreathed in flame is a heck of a thing to see as a bandit lying paralyzed on the floor. Just enough time for some regrets. What a great shot!

Blood: Yikes. There’s the advantage to little fur outfits. Less to wash.

Resting is lovely. Aravi looks as peaceful as she can be wherever she needs to keep a sword by her side.

Holy crap he grabbed that guard!! What an entrance. Odahviing must be the dragon word for awesome. Oh no wait, that would be “Aravi.” I love how she got right up in Odahviing’s face when he was snapping at Kharjo.

Good thing the Jarl cleaned out Dragonsreach before the fight. Isn’t that place usually full of hay bales?

Ooo, and then they swatted him like a bug. What a relief to see Kharjo stroll around past the dragon. He had a tough fight, too.

@Acadian: Glad you liked the different camera angles and the fight! It lasted a lot longer than it should have because of Kharjo’s zealousness.

Scrolls in Skyrim are actually kind of useful and give characters that would never otherwise have the chance, the ability to taste the power of high level spells.

The only thing in the last screen that’s missing for you is a big horse! Thanks Acadian!

@mALX: Resting was right after she found Kharjo in this game so she’s happy. I don’t reset their relationship with each game reset so she was missing him.

The spells have to be timed well, and you absolutely have to open with them. They do otherwise take too long to be useful. Blizzard spell is just plain useless from what I could tell. The inferno one has outright killed some of the stronger bandits if they are close when you drop it. That’s why Aravi use the paralyze one first, so she could step right next to them and cast.

@SubRosa: I didn’t think of a scorpion, but I can definitely see it now. Glad he isn’t as gross or else I wonder if Aravi would have been able to do it! It’s really Kharjo’s fault it took so long to get the dragon inside. I was tempted to use the console to move his stupid butt inside.

A Dovachat! Seems there is some dissention in the winged ranks that Aravi may be able to exploit. Heh, I understand Aravi’s hesitance to accept the offer of flight, for it is reminiscent in sort of a reverse way of the scorpion trying to get the frog to take him across the river. Aravi does not yet fully know the nature of this dragon. I expect she will not stand in impasse for too long however.

Loved the side highlights of Kharjo walking around and that silly mageling trying to get himself fried.

Spriggan has a lot going on! Shock and an ice spike plus spriggan juice flying. I’m guessing that Kharjo is back there having fun with staves. Neat!

I couldn’t pick a favorite between Winter night and Azura’s star. It’s whichever one I’m presently looking at (keeps changing). Aravi looks beautiful and I love the way Kharjo is looking at her, but then the fierce one is so great!


Very interesting to hear about the potential spilt within the raised dragons. I love how they’re so chatty. I guess immortal beings don’t get in much of a hurry.

How funny that he asked to go free right after trying to eat Kharjo. I mean, why not ask? He can relax on the porch for a bit while Aravi considers.

Ah Farengar. He’s not just a jackass, he’s also an idiot. He did say he wanted to see a dragon up close. I was rolling when Aravi started backing away.

To begin I have to say I love the artwork here with Aravi and Kharjo. They make such a fine couple. Winter night is a great shot especially with the purple horizon and the stars behind Aravi and Kharjo. An opposite of the stab-shot that is Aravi and that pesky spriggan. Aravi in Azura's Star? I wouldn't be happy either. Just look at that place. She should ask Azura to convince Hircine to let her spend her afterlife in Moonshadow just for cleaning out the junk from that star

So Odahviin spills the beans on Alduin's location and that not all dragons are entirely loyal to Alduin and even doubting his powers. Farengar is audacious, isn't he? "Hey dragon, can you be my lab rat? I asked nicely."

There was no Supes in there, but there was an angry elf and several fireball throwing dremora. That narrow walkway makes things very difficult for a fighter like Aravi. Thanks SubRosa!

What a poignant moment tearing up with Kharjo. Like Odahviing said, she really only had one choice.

Ambush really catches that moment right after the fight. It looks like Aravi and Kharjo are giving each other that “You OK?” look. The snow and fog look so neat!
