I've noticed that too. I thought the interview with Brian Williams was pretty funny. (Was that last night?) But no matter how funny the Daily Show gets, The Colbert Report will always be funnier.

Ibis, it's really a matter of preference. With either one you can order a bunch of premium channels, and it all sort of depends on the company, and what the company offers. Cable companies *say* satellite TV goes out because of everything like wind and stuff, but it's not really true. It'll go out because of like... a thunderstorm or a hurricane or something but that's about it.

I don't watch Letterman or Leno so Ik don't know how to compare, but it's not a talk show, it's a news parody, like in the beginning of those talk shows they do current events, well their monologues ain't got nothing on what the daily show does for a half hour. They even play funny graphics to make fun of the expensive graphics the big news corporations use. They sort of... keep it real, same with the Colbert Report, they keep it real after the media tries to paint a picture a certain way, they use humor to sort of.... reveal the little man behind the curtain.

King, I couldn't stop laughing the first time I saw the word, but once was enough, the idea is sort of over for me. Better know a district if funny about half the time. The best part of Stephen Colbert was when he was acting as host for that press corps and went out as his character, I never saw a funny show bomb so hard, it was like a black comedian making fun of white people in front of the KKK. He was freaking hysterical.

I have 2 more episodes of Lost to watch before I'm up to date with everything. I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

Also I still don't have a job yet. Got a couple more rejections... have applied for over 20 now I think but I really have lost count of how many applications I have done to be honest.

Teehehe I can say that now with impunity since the boards are so slow; & apparently a snow blizzard has engulfed New Zealand and our fish is lost in a mountaintop lodge surrounded by desperate snow bunnies. Hang in there, Ramirez. I know for sure that finding a job is a 150% harder job than having a job. I was like that in New Jersey when I was in my 20's. I had done years of restaurant work since age 16 but wanted to work in an office, without any secretarial training behind me.
I applied at so many companies that I started to feel like I was interviewing them. I'd done so much preliminary research into so many prospective companies that I started telling them about each other. The closest I ever got to secretarial work was for a temporary agency while still cocktail waitressing at night and then went into the Air Force ... where being trained in Supplies solved my lack of experience/schooling problems.
I did get some interesting offers while doing the job rounds though because this was way back when woman's lib was demanding equal employment for females ... so I was offered some breakthrough training in "mens" fields. One of the best was working out on the telephone lines (which I refused because I thought they were right under the power lines and I'm deathly afraid of electricity.) My hubby regretfully tells me now that by this time I'd be making almost what plumbers make an hour if I'd been a linewoman for the phone company. (Think of the espionage work I could've done! haaha)
So anyway, don't turn down any offers that might seem a bit out of your field or interests. keep an open mind.

Thanks for the good info. Yeh ... Florida is very susceptible to thunderstorms and the occassional summer of back-to-back hurricanes. Are you saying that they are the exact same channels and shows on either one? I guess cable is looking better then ... specially since we already have roadrunner for computers.

I'm remembering my dreams really well these days, they're becoming like movies. Thewy're getting really epic, too. Last night I had a dream I was an illegal immigrant, and my brother and I were climbing this gigantic wall into the united states with millions of other people (of mixed races, it was sort of futuristc) and this weird monster jumped up and started killing people. It was exhilerating.

Sounds like the future to me If genetics is researched really heavily... Imagine the insane possibilities.... maybe that's not such a good thing, especially with the monster making...

How is everyone else this fine day? Wonder when Minque will return? Well, she probably has alot to do after returning from vacation = jetsetting around Europe.

It is quite a beautiful day, perfect for the fact that I get the house to myself this weekend! Though I'm not looking forward to the probably boring 3 hours of work lying ahead for me, ohwell. It will still be an excellent day.

And I solve some damn itch that I got listening to song, it sounded vaguely familiar to something and it took until me waking up in the morning to realise what other band that song sounded like. But I got it!

My dreams are always freaking hilarious. They're usually with quite a bit of futuristic elements in them. You won't believe how often I've been chased by aliens in my dreams. Best part is, if they get too tough and scary, I just switched to 'dream-control' and show them that hunting a kid in his dreamworld is a BAD IDEA. With some practice, I'm basically god when I'm dreaming. I love it!

And my day is going fine. We had some rain again like usual, a thunderstorm and a good meal.

Well Mallet, don't you get to spend your boring working hours with us online at Chorrol. I think at least I remember you saying that you used to... & having the house all to yourself all weekend will be fun. Are you going to throw a block party? (like my crazy sisters, thinking that they could sneak a block party over on my parents and the neighbors would never ahhhh mention it?? )

And while I'm not having a block party, I do plan on having a few friends over. My brothers did one before at my house earlier this year and it was insane, about 100 people crammed into my house like sardines. Big mess afterwards, don't wanna have an experience like that again, at least, not at my house

Fortunately I was able to make my parents think there was only 30 people there instead of 100.

As a precautionary method, I'd have your friends leave their cell phones home or check them in at the door when they enter so the party doesn't inadvertantly swellll by the end of the weekend.

That's so true, that's exactly what happened at my brother's party, all their "popular" friends called up their friends on their cellphones to come. We had people we've never met before there! One of the broke a quilt rack that me and my cousin had to glue back together. Shhhh! My parents don't know about that!

Well think of me too when you attend that shoplifting class because I used to be a store supervisor and we couldn't even call in a shoplifter until they performed the entire 5 step program:
1. We watched them all the way from seeing an item being stolen or hidden
2. We had them taped on the video cameras for future prosecution
3. They passed the last POS terminal without attempting to pay
4. ......

wait, Doomed will be reading this too. Ahhh, we want to leave some mystery to life now don't we? But see if your store practically ties your hands behind your back in apprehension of shoplifters. Buuuut, if you could get all 5 steps in gear ... my my my - did all hell break loose. Such fun! The hunt!!!

Editted to remove all the info that I DO know and was about to disclose, no one gets to know my secrets. The only word of advice I offer is that most companies lose a lot of money in legal fees prosecuting shoplifters mostly because of countersuits, and would rather the shoplifter get away than them NOT have enough evidence. Evidence means a video showing them hide the item, and showing them completely walk out of the store without paying, as well as the actual stuff the person stole. Also, look out for suspicious people at the exit, people leaving without buying stuff, or people just hanging out there, if you see one, put the stuff back and leave.

Humidity is just a killer here in Florida in August. We just revert to the olden ways before air conditioning of living by night and sleeping by day. T'was the reason that Florida used to be such a barren, unpopulated scrubpine, tropical swamp....humidity, fever, mosquitos, palmetto bugs, alligators. Not for the flighty tourist back then.

I know it sucks to be poor. I'm not unemployed but we have very little excess money after bills. Yet as my hubby Cain points out .... if we didn't have our computers and internet and games .... we'd go stark raving drunk!! So we are all lucky enough to be tied to the world and each other, our international friends. That's cool, eh?

Oh hears an idea to anyone who wants to try getting rich by online gaming. Get this game called 'Second Life.' There's this Chinese lady who makes $10,000 USD a month selling virtual real estate to others in a part of the game called "Third Life" which is where they go on computers in the game itself and chat and exchange virtual real estate for profit. Maybe you could become a virtual land baron, Milanius.

I saw that on the news. There have been murders over this game.

But yeah, I should play it for like a year and then sell all my stuff to people and get rich.

OMG!! Murders Danny? I didn't see that part. In China I hope. Not that I would wish that on them but I know the Koreans and Chinese take their gaming very very seriously.

It would be interesting to try, I suppose. But we tried Project Entropia out of Sweden a few years back, when it was a beta actually and played for awhile. But you actually put in a lot more real money than you ever see back at the lower levels of these games I think. I don't even want to tell you how much money we spent setting up a guild in Project Entropia but it was like a whole yearly family Christmas money present. Ahhh but we had a great time. You'd have to play constantly and be very shrewd and smart to make profits at these games, but I heard also that some people got fabulously rich selling parts of some discoteque asteroid rotating the planet in Entropia.

Ugh, sounds awful. Just do what I do, think about the paycheck/stub. Sounds like you put in a healthy amount of hours so I would think you would be getting a fairly nice paycheck/stub.

What is it that you're doing that keeps you there till midnight?

That's how my hubby Cain started out Rainer. And don't let those waitresses and cooks push you around either - they aren't your boss, they work for the same manager you do. If you want to move up in the kitchen staff and become sous chef or salad man or prep cook - then do that extra of THEIR work that they try to throw at you. But if you don't and finish the dishes too soon before your shift ends, just find your pace to finish on time ... or people will give you extra work and you ARE only working for ONE paycheck.

Just a little advice from someone who's worked 15 years in restaurants.

Oh I have really enjoyed myself this summer, I've also joined in a band (not know at all I'm afraid )...but still always nice to have someone to play/sing with. The weather have been nice, and not having work or school, is really relaxing.

I've have been using a band avvy before they starting attempting to be trend. But only Tool fans who bought Aenima would know that my eye picture is one of three album covers that comes with that CD.

So, sofar, the trend is of two people for band logo's and two for doomed's trend.
