Well, it has been a rather full week, what with official registration at the college. That is over now, and regular stuff will soon begin. Of more interest- we have finally begun listing Mrs. Treydog’s paintings on Ebay. After some consideration, I let her “inherit” my existing account with the 60+ positive feedbacks. We first placed 4 paintings and already have a bid on one of them. At the moment, we are trying for reasonable pricing (as in $20.00 for a 5x7). If she develops a following, we will maintain the lower-priced pieces and maybe begin to list some larger work for higher prices. Before finally going with Ebay, we did visit a couple of local galleries, just to see…. The thing is- they are not primarily showing paintings and you can’t be sure how much they will promote your work. Add the fact that galleries take a 50-70% commission, and it just seemed like Ebay was a better choice. If time permits, we may do a couple of the better regional shows (like Blowing Rock, NC). And then I got the Ebay bug again, so I started a new account and listed some of my PC games that I don’t play anymore. Kind of a long, dull ramble, I guess- but we are excited about it all.

Hey, just dropping in real fast to post. Things went fantastic with Jamie... I couldn't have asked for more. She's coming over to my house tomorrow, so things will be even better than before (which was pretty damn fantastic). We got in slight trouble for staying out to the park too late, but it wasn't all that big, just a "try not to do that again".

I'm excited for you and The Great Bunny too ... let us know how it goes. The best art show down here in Cental Florida is the Winter Park Art Shows in Spring & Autumn. We have other smaller ones but those two draw national artists.
We here in Florida are all battened down tonight, waiting if all this rain is bringing a hurricane our way or just a tropical storm. It was briefly a hurricane ober the islands but has downgraded now. Hope it turns away ... but Jeb Bush has sent all the tourists home anyways to be safe.

Some good "excuses" for when you come home late from a date:
We fell asleep (works better with a car)
We ran out of gas & had to walk to a gas station (ditto)
One of us dropped our keys outa the pocket and spent time looking for them
We ran into friends and lost track of the time
My watch got wet/stopped/is running backwards/whatever
The movie was longer than expected
A viscous dog made us climb a tree
We took a different way home and got lost
My bf & I in hs had a million of them, but it didn't really matter cause my mom really liked him, so I never got in trouble when with him anyway ... best excuse = both's parents like both kids.

QUOTE(stargelman @ Aug 27 2006, 02:38 AM)

Yeah, well. It's the (late) middle of the night, and I just endured an hour of way too loud music from my neighbours, until I called the police. Of course when they got here, the neighbours had stopped for over 10 minutes. Go figure. My head is pounding and I'm really annoyed. I'm thinking of removing their fuses next time they go rock concert on me in the middle of the night. Anyone else got a problem with moronic neighbours?
With their idiotic children

A host of kids from other buildings, for some reason unknown to me, comes frequently to hang arround in front of our building. NOw, I don't mind the noise they produce [usually just loud laughs and occasional yelling] but they sometimes vandalise cars. My rear glass on my '86. VW "Golf 2" was broken 2 times last year - after 2nd time, I went down and told a few kids I'll starts skinning people soon if I notice another scratch. Didn't help much, as they still continue to gather & piss me off in process. One of these days, god help me, I'll do something stupid.
p.s.: before you say "why don't you ask them politely to leave" or "Why not call police ?" I'll just say that both options are futile. These kids [you may even call them Serbian equivalent of 'chavs', they fit description just fine] mock people and would [i presume] only start taking things seriously if I went down one night carrying a baseball bat, a hunting knife or something equivally solid. And the damn police never sends no one.

Yeh, the police would probably only show up if you did go down with a baseball bat! Sp Mil, you drive an '86 car too .... we have an '86 Honda Civic here. Just think, next year our cars will hit the 20 year mark & in 5 after that will be classic cars.

*Psst* In case you didn't know it's 2006, so they're already 20 years old. ALmost 21 actually, since car models come out almost a year earlier than they say.
Anyway, I drive an '87 toyota camry. Wagon. It's somewhat awesome. Except for the fact that it has no power steering anymore.

Wow, no power steering anymore! Is it harder than manual then? Hmmm, soon Mil, you and us will be driving antiques. Cool ....
milanius
Aug 29 2006, 09:45 AM
It's already an antique

VolksWagen, just like many other German car brands, is legendary arround these parts for its endurance and ability to take punishment over years. My father STILL drives a 1975. VW "Bug", which has hauled more cargo than some ocean ship over the years

the "Golf II" which I'm driving, on the other hand, was one of the most produced and exported cars in 80's. It is unsurpassed when it comes to reliability & service time [I've personaly seen a 1.8l model of it that has 500.000+ kilometers and it still purrs like a big, powerful Khajitt

in other words it could go for another 200.000 without serious problems].
Ibis
Aug 29 2006, 03:26 PM
Yeah ... VW's are great. I used to drive a family red bug and owned an orange bug complete with sunroof. But I thought cars had to be 25 years old to be antiques? I think they do here in Florida anyways.

Egh, we got in trouble again recently. Jamie got a ride over to my house from her aunt's.. and apparently she was suppose to ask her aunt for permission for that.. so she had to leave early and wasn't too happy about being yelled at for something she wasn't at fault for not knowing (she'd told someone else in the house and had cleared coming over yesterday). I'm making a horrible first impression on her family and it might have affected just how often she can see me.

I've been feeling really guilty lately because I have not thanked the teacher who helped me with a stalker problem just about six months ago.
Well, I've decided I will push myself hard to thank him tomorrow. I will be very nervous.
Various things are layered onto my irrational fear of him, but it's mostly because he is a man (let me stress this: I am not sexist, but I really don't feel like explaining what has happened to me to cause that), I find him AMAZINGLY attractive, and so much like me personality wise (sans my manic depressiveness and social phobia) it's a bit scary.

Trey, you are so sweet! Thanks for the concern. Most everyone, me included has off work tomorrow to be able to not travel in the storm and stay battened down at home. We have our hurricane supploes all in order but this will be the first time in 20 years that we do not go through a hurricane in our very safe soundproofed studios we used to live in (no windows, foot thick block walls, etc.)
But our condo has the whole back half towards the hallway and bathroom windowless, so in case of emergency we would go back there. And we are on the ground floor so that is safer too. I just hope we don't lose eletricity, that is so irritating. One of the hurricanes in the summer of the 4 'canes took 4 days to blow through - no electric, not much food, nothing to do but stay in bed.
The beaches above Daytona Beach are expecting at least a 12 to 15 foot storm surge of tidal water. I hope we here in Orlando just get alot of rain and nothing else. I will let you know ....

Agh, this is terrible. The visits are amazingly great, but they aren't as frequent as we were led to believe. Tomorrow is the last time I will see her until Winter Break, sure I'll be able to wait.. but it's going to totally suck. Not only to make it worse but we have to hang out at her aunt's house and have barely any privacy whatsoever, which hardly helps the romantic mood. Still, I shouldn't be so ungrateful, I was lucky to see her so soon anyways, we didn't know this trip was even going to be possible a little while ago. We'll have to savor eachother's company as much as we can, because it will be the last we'll get for several months to follow...

I must say that Jamies picture at your MySpace is just simply beautiful, Chaos. She is lovely. I remember those days when I was in high school and college and my first serious bf & I were getting it on but our parents of course didn't know.
One time he stayed a week with us at the Jersey shore ... but we got no private time all week. So on the Saturday we rented a tandem bike and pedaled from 16th street to the sand dunes of 69th street just to be alone. We were sooo sore from pedaling both ways the next day!
It's hard at that age, but you must make the most of whatever time you get together. Remember you will be older and hmmmm, sometimes it helps to each pretend you are going somewhere with friends when you are really going to be there together. That would make my parents ease up on the regulations, when they thought I'd be with my girlfriends. Not all's fair in love and war .... and all that ....

Well, you see.. I don't have any friends here. I just moved back home after my parents already moved to a new house... and school hasn't started yet. Things are fine and dandy though, we'll just take a walk to the park that hopefully won't be so crowded (not that it stopped us) and maybe take a trip to the woods. You know.. I've always hated the people who make out in public so I'll try to be more disctreet, but at least we were polite enough to be behind some bushes (which were apparently part of someone's back yard... oops). Listen Chaos, I was just reading last night about Mary Steinburgen (sp?) and Jim Morrison. She was his first love before he got famous, when he attended the Univ. of Florida in Tallahassee and every weekend he'd hitch-hike back to Clearwater to be with her. But during the week - they'd talk by telephone and here's how ... Mary would find a different pay phone each time and send him a letter with the phone nymber for that phone booth and what time he should call her there. Then he'd call.paying for the first three minutes and they'd talk for a long time. Then when the operator called back with the charges of how much change he should drop in the phone, he'd already have walked away. Pretty romantic huh?
I guess the phone company doesn't let you phone like that anymore ... probably make you pay up front. Best thing would be if you or Jamie got a cell phone that has free national calls and buy phone minutes for it. Maybe you already have cell phones. Don't despair, you will see her again. Maybe you could visit down there somehow, if her parents like you.

Oh I'm good with the phone things, we have unlimited long-distance. I don't know all the details, but I do know that I can call from here and it's free. It's not all bad really, I just need to get re-use to things being long-distance again, I've become accustomed to things being closer. I'll get over it, probably sooner than I think. I've never had it so rough, long-distance is torture, but for her it's worth it. I won't go into the "she's the most wonderful gir ever, etc" stuff, I don't like listening to other people say it, so I won't go and be a hypocrite now. I'm starting to feel better anyways, I'm just binging on videogames to distract myself and soon enough I'll be my same old self again. Besides, I should be able to talk to her by... tomorrow or the day after that, so by then I should be doing much better.
Once again, thanks for all your concern. I'm glad that most of you at least seem to care about my problem-of-the-week. Not much to worry about though, just some moping and sulking and then I should be okay. It's just a matter of time.
