Augh it's that time of year again . textbook buying time for the coming semester. I really ahte this time of year, you spend so much money on something that shouldn't cost that much. I just priced my books at $300, that's after going through cheapest online retailers and used and international books.

Wow Megil, what major do you study? I seem to remember that it's art related, but I seem also to remember being surprised about something scientific you were studying ... sorry my moemory is so bad.

Is there any student exchange on campus for Used Books? I always tried to buy mine that way ... sometimes you'd luck out and get one from a conciencsous A+ student who used highlighter like crazy. But I certainly do know what you mean about the exorbitant prices of text books which is ironic because if those books weren't required for classes, no one'd bue them at all.

What do you consider an anti-hero? A hero with a little depth to him? In my opinion Batman didn't start to get interesting until Frank Miller took over and wrote Dark Knight Returns, in which Batman was... well... a bit of an anti hero, and superman was a villain. I'd pick anti-hero over classic hero any day, because, as you see in Dark Knight Returns... classic heroes think they're infallible, and the worst atrocities on the planet were comitted by people that thought they were infallible.

Yes Doomed, I love the Dark Batman cartoons .. the ones set in the 1940's .. might they be the ones you are referring to?

I think that Van Helsing was an Anti-hero ... the real villains were the vampires he hunted of course .. but he was on the outs with the church and got recruited for his job as sort of a redemption or penance for his mortal soul.

That's the kind of hero I like - protagonist/antagonist melded ---- like my sweet lizard king.

Oh my... I've been soooo busy... so very very busy. I got a kitten (a himalayan) and I have been taking care of him. He's so adorable... I've been enjoying the rest of my summer before my boyfriend moves away and I have to go to school again. My boyfriend moves tomorrow and I start school on Monday. Luckily, my boyfriend will be moving only an hour away to a town my family and I frequent, and he will be coming home every weekend. So, I'm not worried about him going to college. I am however, worried about my classes. They've mixed up my schedule, so I'm going to be getting that fixed ASAP. I am looking forward to going back to school. I'll be a junior in high school. So, I'm starting to investigate colleges and really REALLY thinking about what I want to do with my life. College stuff is so confusing. But, I am very very glad to be back in Chorrol!

Looks like you're in the same boat as me, Kayla (excluding the boyfriend and the kitten and the being busy part ). Gotta figure out which college I wanna go to, or what university I wanna go to, because I definitely have the grades for university but I don't think I need university courses for what I'm going to be looking at for a career (electrician, digital electronics, maybe robotics). Since that field is more hands on than academic I could save money by going the college route instead of university (which is generally more expensive here in Canada).

The parents are starting to get on my case about researching colleges for courses I'm interested in, so I oughta start that soon.

Yes indeedy roo, welcome back to Chorrol Kayla. I am getting into Game Design, actually the Computer Animation part of Game Designing ... after the councellor saw my artwork she talked me out of the programming side (requires passing a special math test) and into computer animation for games and movies too. I took the tour at Full Sail Media School here in Orlando (if you can come up with $68,000 in scholarships, grants & credit you can get a 4 year Bachelors of Computer Anim or Game Design there in 22 months.) They are among the top 5 Media Schools in the world. Unless a miracle happens scholarship/grant -wise, I will probably be taking computer animation classes part-time at our community college. But I'm so glad I got to tour the whole animation process at Full Sail and would love to go there later on perhaps - after I work in the field a bit.

A doctor? Wow, 3 really good but totally different fields. But wait, maybe you could combine them and become a video sports doctor - like carpal tunnel syndrome of hands, arms, shoulders from too much gaming - or - perhaps you could be a game controller designer that would alleviate these problems for people because as a doctor you'd know how. ??? Maybe.

Good luck though in whatever you do - follow your dreams. Nothing is impossible.

Today was great, it was my Gaeltacht reunion so i got to see al my friends again. It's only a week since i last saw them, but i missed them all. I also bought a new album, ASscendancy by Trivium, and a new DVD, Gladiator

Oh, they don't push Rainer around at all.

Infact, it's like everyone there is brother and sister, with how well everyone gets along. And when Rainer usually finds time on his hands. he starts to sing the First suite in F by Gustav Holst.

One of the servers said Rainer has a suprisingly good singing voice!

Oh nooo. Do the police there do the thing where a person has to be gone for over 24 hours before they'll start looking for them or put out a bulletin? They do that here in Florida, except for missing children who get the Amber Alert. Don't know why they can't do that for everyone.

Have you checked with all his friends? Where was he last? What was he doing? Who last saw him? If the police are going to sit on their hands you've got to start asking questions yourself ... I would. I hope you find him soon. Usually these things are mistakes that turn out okay.

Hey look, I'm alive! Ha.

The prodigal son has returned. Sorry for being gone for so long, but I've been pretty busy. My whole homelessnes thing really got to be too much. I found myself alone, without my friends, one state away from where I started from with nothing to show for it but broken relationships and a starving belly. I had to return back home. Still it's not all bad, I'm making the best of it here and trying to put my life back together.

Oh and you see, it is just as I said when Minque was gone --- as soon as she returns, people will come back again too. Kayla, Chaos, more and more will flock back to us. 'Tis the power of the minque. lol

Woooah, wait? The place is deserted?

Majoring in Biology. Minoring in Chemistry cause all i ned is two extra classes after the ones required for my bio major. But I want to minor in something else as wel, or at least take aclasses in other areas. Everyone tells me to do art (but I don't feel i'd be able to meet expectations).

But yeah. the used book exchange in Wilmington didn't reduce the pirce all that much, would have been over $300. But I spnt a while looking around, I have managed to be able to get my books for $250 using half.com and Abebooks.com both sites are really good.

and on another note, it turns out that I got an additional $2,000 financial aid for this year ($1,000 a semester) so I was really excited about that, so I can gt the books, and have 2 months worth of bills covered. And then I am getting two raises for my job this year, one for returning and another one in October, which also made my day. So while I'll be pretty much busting my boat, I am in the long run reducing debt.

I'll be working 30 hours a week on top of my 15 horus of classes (history of western science, Biology, Calculus, Logic, Biological research) and then who knows the homework. So Megil will be a sparse sight on chorrol.com but I promise to drop by at least on the weekends.


Just a bit of a dry spell.


Oh and to make my post even longer, a funny story.

So I went on-campus yesterday and hung out with friends, and well it got late, didn't feel like getting a ride back to my apartment (let alone trying to get someone to drive me home at 2am) so I spent the nght in my friend hither's room. Well yesterday was the day before freshman move-in. so I sleep in Hither's roomates empty bed till 6 am. Hither had ot go get ready to help the freshmen move in so i got in her bed, sicne we didn't know when her roomate would be arriving to move-in. Well 8a.m. rolls by and I am awoken by the sound of people bringing boxes and stuff into the room, well i play it off as being asleep until the leave the room, then I get up and grab my jeans to put them on. Well Hither's roomate (milissa) and her mom decided to walk in as I was putting them on, so there I was jeans 1/4 of the way up my legs, in my undies meeting my best friend's roomate and her mother. Needless to say embarrasment from both parties, followed by outrage and shock from the mother. I gave them the worst possible first impression of Hither lol. They assume that I must be her boyfriend or something (we have yet to take the time to let the roomate know that I don't do girls hehe)

I chose to major in theatre arts... I wanted to minor in film studies but... yeah... I'll make it work, you'll see... you'll all see.

EDIT: And also I'm taking 17 hours at college when I start, though I'll be dropping to 13 pretty fast.

Thats good to know Zarr, though he should've told you where he was going I can sort of relate. Some guys (like myself) just don't think about how worried people will be when they go somewhere without telling them. It happens and chances are he didn't mean to worry you.

Some people just don't think about it before going off without telling anyone, once when I still lived with my parents they filed a missing persons report because I left for three days without saying anything...guess I just didn't think it through before leaving...

I'm very glad he's returned and yeh, Kiln is right - guys are that way. Part of being independent. My hubby used to just leave with his friends while I was at work and I'd have no idea where he was or when he'd return. I kept trying to get him to write notes but I think that was considered sissy by the guys.
So, I put a shopping list kinda message board by the front door and then they'd leave smile signs on it for me. It was something - to make me not worry.

I've been busy... BUT I STILL MADE TIME CHANNLER! I STILL MADE TIME!

I've been busy getting as much dicking around done as possible before I'm shipped off to college and have nothing to do but be really busy all the time, going to class, studying, hamster cave, making movies, plays and compassion... all of it.

I've just gotten busy, too! I made some changes to the forum.

Let it be known that new users now no longer start out in the 'members' group, but rather have to prove themselves before they can enjoy certain privileges. This is a measure to reduce spam on this forum. We don't get much of it, but it's still very annoying, so we're doing something about it.

So if a new guy or gal asks you what is going on, just tell them to relax, take it easy and be a good citizen, and all will be fine for them in no time

Yea, its amazing how polar opposites we are when it comes to politics but generally we are very similiar Doomed.. Odd stuff no? But its cool.. This last summer the military has been trying to indoctrinate me and its worked this |............| much. I've got it worked into my life that my room has to be clean at least, hospital corners on the beds, and the fact that I have to eat chow at 7:30, 11:50, and 5:00 on the dot.

But besides that they didn't change to much. Now I gots ta gots ta fill out my college applications and write them damnable essays.. hmm and shave..
