As far as cleaning goes the student in me would suggest fabreeze to kill the smell then put a blanket over the seats... what you can't see can't hurt you and all that.

Still on a more positive note I'm finished exams for this semester so can start feeling christmassy now smile.gif

Quick question, now that the next Elderscrolls has been officially announced, will this site become Waiting4Skyrim?

mALX, I am SO SORRY about how hard I laughed at what happened to your seat. No amount of tears and drool on my keyboard can make me feel less guilty, but the cats! Oh my god, the CATS!!! Nooooooooooooooo here I go again!!

Cleaning: soak it and then wet vac? One of those wet carpet extractor thingys? Let the dog back in the car to, er, "pick up" the cat stuff?

Still laughing!!

I was thinking about parking it with the windows down and the key on the front seat - and then reporting it stolen and claiming the insurance for it, ROFL !!! (just kidding, of course)

She has to ride in it again tomorrow, so the deadline is looming before me ... yet I can't make myself go tackle ... I have never seen such a huge amount of ... it looked like a cow patty till it started soaking into the seat ...

Oddly enough, there is a clear stain (of wet area) that starts at the top of the seatback and runs down in an ever-widening pattern as well. Since she is a girl, I know she isn't lifting her leg to pee...what she did to cause that, I can't even begin to imagine.

Ode ( r ) de mALX

'Twas two weeks before Christmas and starting to sleet.
The back of her car was all covered with. . . sheet.

Cool weather meant that the odor was mild,
And helped with the fact that her dog had gone wild.

The dog's role had been expertly played.
For she could be heard laughing, "I'll never be spayed!"

Indeed, when asked about the stink,
She replied, "Next time you want to get me spayed, perhaps you'll think."

First Snow of the Season

It's a veritable winter wonderland outside! The porch rail you see is also a surprisingly good gauge as to how much snow has fallen, sometimes we can see piles up to more than a foot high, and in New Mexico, of all places!

I was planning on driving into the city today to return a book that's due back soon (college coursebook rental, due back this Saturday) but I'm a little unsure about that now. This state has terrible drivers; and put snow on the roads, its rollovers left and right.

Hmm... what to do... what to do...

It was thick snow for a while here, still freezing but it's down to patches of ice now. Still haven't had the rubbish collected for three weeks though and even with the flat cold it stinks.

Still if anyone's interested in snow photos here are some I took of a park which is about 50 yards from my front door while the snow was there, I haven't got round to retouching the light in any of them yet so they're 'as is'.

If they waited till you handled it to tell you it was sheep poo then they are Funny Friends. Funny friends have certain tendencies you should be aware of. Warnings below :

DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE COOK A MEAL FOR YOU - Funny friends have a tendency to "experiment" and watch closely how you react when eating - then laugh and tell all your other friends in detail every embarassing moment.

DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE PACK YOUR PARACHUTE FOR YOU - Skydiving with Funny friends is not a good idea - they may pack one of those "Surprise" balloons in your parachute pack - Which brings us to :

NEVER SKYDIVE WITH FUNNY FRIENDS ON YOUR BIRTHDAY, ANNIVERSARY, ETC.

Dog Poo Update:

12 Noon - Showdown!

1. Loaded car with equipment:

(Make-shift kitty litter scoop/sponges/scrub brushes/plastic grocery bags/tub half filled with steaming water/"Simple Green" cleaner/17 pound box of Fresh Step)

2. Drove to "Do-It-Yourself" car wash.

3. With the aid of a simulated kitty litter scoop, I removed the (amazingly shrunk since created) lumps into a plastic "Food City" grocery bag.

4. Deposited 4 quarters into vacuum cleaner slot. Sucked 34 pounds of Fresh Step cat litter off back seat. - SMELL RETURNED !!

5. Poured gallon jug of "Simply Green" all over back seat. Amazingly, even before scrubbing the "debris" began to dissipate.

6. Scrubbed my [censored] [censored] off.

- Result: All footprints removed, odd stain and major dropping site still stained and odorific.

7. Poured 17 pounds of Fresh Step cat litter on back seat. Must wait 3 days to restock cleaning supplies or ... call Stanley Steamer. (My choice).

8. Went inside and soaked in bathtub full of antibacterial soap, scrubbed myself raw and...like Lady MacBeth was still sure I could smell dog poo somewhere. ("Out damned spot!")

I do not see the big deal. It is not actually made from feces, but from plant fibers found in the feces. It would be more interesting if it really was made from fecal matter itself. Sort of like Buffalo Chip legos.

Until the Industrial Revolution and the invention of inorganic fertilizers, all the food people ate absorbed feces to grow. Welcome to the world of fertilizer. Whether it is a loaf of bread or a steak, somewhere down the line there was feces in everyone's dinner. In Mother Nature, even waste never goes to waste.

Well, I'm glad that mALX was able to ameliorate her puppy problem. tongue.gif

My computer has been limping for some time now. This morning it died. My computer shop is building me a new one and planning on porting everything over to the new one, including my modded and patched installation of Oblivion and of course all my draft story work.

I hope that all works, but I may be scarce for a few days until we get everything sorted out. In the meantime, Mrs Acadian is kind enough to let me borrow her tiny laptop that befumbles my old fingers so that I may at least say hi. wink.gif

My sympathies, Acadian. Having lost my own gaming rig not that long ago, I definitely feel your pain. The more so because my current system is not "Oblivionable" (integrated graphics). Some time in the distant future, I may be able to upgrade graphics and RAM- by which time TES V will be out, and it won't be able to support that, either.

However, I am glad your files are safe- I used a backup program (O&O), plus keeping my story files remotely on a USB flash drive.

Look at the bright side, this means you have an excuse to get an even better computer! As Treydog said though, it is a good idea to back up everything important on something, even just a simple flash drive.

Maybe not. Fallout 3 runs far better on my machines than Oblivion does, and it is the newer generation, with better graphics. They obviously took the time to tweak the performance of the engine and reduce a lot of the resource hogging. Although Skyrim is probably using an all new engine, in which case it may be what you say, and we will be back at square one with a game that needlessly wastes memory and cpu cores.
Kiln
Yeah I'm actually pretty excited to see what they do with Skyrim in terms of gameplay. Hopefully they don't stick to their old ways of removing things and simplifying others, taking the game even further into the mainstream market.

I don't think it can get any more mainstream than Oblivion, that was as basic as it gets - but I loved it anyway, lol.

Update on my dead computer: I guess technology can be a wonderful thing. My shop built me a new computer over the weekend and was able to port everything over from the old machine. I don't mean just data, I mean an entire complex Oblvion installation with patches, mods and utilities. I knew my data would be able to be transferred, but I expected to have to reinstall Oblivion, patches, utilities, mods and try to get it all running again. Amazingly painless, and I'm back in business - both my game and my fanfic. WooHoo!!

Cool! Hopefully Oblivion runs better on the new machine in the bargain.

Does that mean we will be seeing Buffy today? smile.gif
Thomas Kaira
You see? PCs aren't that bad. Looks like today is a great day for hardware. biggrin.gif

On that topic, I actually keep two hard-drives of data on my computer, one being an exact copy of the other created with a HDD cloning tool and updated semi-weekly. This means not only am I assured minimal data loss in the event of computer failure (backup HDD is kept off the computer's power grid unless it is needed), but also the ability to fall back if I encounter software failure and Windows refuses to start, quick and painless. Glad to hear your hard drive survived the transfer. smile.gif

I've just started playing around with my sound card, and let me tell you... Dolby Digital through my Ear Force X41 headset (Turtle Beach), WOW! What a difference over the integrated!

Acadian
Oh gee, I don't even know what most of that stuff means. The guys that built it know me well and built the last one which lasted 5 years.

I just asked them, "Bobo play Oblivion on this?"
They nodded and said, "Bobo play Oblivion good."

Here is some of the gibberish on the write up sheet:
GeForce GTX 460
Intel i5 760 processor 2.80 GHz
2084 MB DDR3 1600 Dual Channel Memory
2084 MB DDR3 1600 Dual Channel Memory
500 GB SATA 7200RPM 3.5" Hard Drive
500 GB SATA 7200RPM 3.5" Hard Drive
Windows 7 Professional 64

It backs itself up every week, and they gave me this whiz bang little stick so I can archive Buffy's story every few days.

My PC is [censored] and it has a better graphics card on it - the criteria for buying a PC (for me) used to be, "Will it play Oblivion?" - Now it is, "Will it play Fallout 3?" - since mine plays Oblivion but not Fallout 3. I didn't even bother looking for New Vegas, just headed right to the 360 rack.

A little old, but don't underestimate it, it can play most modern games (ME2, AC2, Nehrim, etc.) without even sweating. I'd prefer to have more RAM, but that's all WinXP can handle and I'm not QUITE ready to upgrade yet (skipped Vista).

GAAAAH!!! It is pretty bad when I'm drooling over a PC that the owner describes as OLD, lol. And if you have XP - NEVER go to Vista!!! It is a huge mistake, and once Vista is in, it won't let you go back to XP without making a partition - and Vista is not gamer friendly to some PC's (HP's in particular, there may be others).

While we're talking about it: what's everybody's experiences with gaming with Windows 7? I'm using it extensively at work (one laptop Win7, one Linux) and I like it a lot more than any previous version of Windows, yet I still use XP on my gaming rig because I don't know if most games will still work in Win7...
