Thank you everyone for the well wishes! It's a journey to find a new normal, and every time I think I've found it, something else happens. The next step for me is to get that chest CT scan done so my pulmonologist can figure out the next step.
A couple of months ago I reconnected with my best friend (since fourth grade, so 50 years) after we lost touch with each other about ten years ago. It was great to be able to pick up our friendship like we never lost touch, though we did have a lot of catching up to do! So now we connect every three weeks for a couple of hours, and it's been fun. That helps brighten my days, as well.
I've not been writing - this particular part of A Wood Elf in Windhelm has been super tricky for me because I've never been satisfied with how it was presented in the game. So I'm exploring its potential as I'm writing, and I may end up scrapping the entire chapter (each day is a chapter in this particular story) and starting over as I get new ideas. We'll see.
SubRosa, thanks for your kind words. Your final comment made me laugh - I won't turn green, or begin raging, but I've always been a monster so . . . In any case, I knew I could count on you to say something appropriately humorous.
Acadian, Khajiit, 'Rocu and mALX, thanks for the hugs and well wishes.
Decrepit, I think of all of us you might understand what I am going through best. I have days when I feel pretty decrepit myself!
The cough is already subsiding since the first infusion on Friday. I'm looking forward to the next one in a month - I've found it takes two infusions to make me feel noticeably better. Fingers crossed!
Again, thanks to all the hugs and well wishes from everyone.
