Description:
The giant variety of the disease-ridden vermin known as rats is much more ferocious, cunning and larger and, while alone giant rats are not a great threat to an experienced adventurer, in packs they can be quite deadly.
Different subspecies live in different environments: rust rats and waste rats are often found in cities or in the sewers underneath them (real pests) and cave rats are found in caves. Rust rats and cave rats are slightly larger than waste rats. Rat meat is tough and greasy, with an unpleasant odor and taste, but it is cheap, abundant, and nutritious, and palatable when cooked in a stew and masked by strong spices.
