I note that we're both now immortalized on the frozen Elder Scrolls Subforums page as nobody else (except staff) can reply. I still visit, as the PM's didn't get turned off, and I had a conversation going about a Skyrim mod someone was trying to create.

Along these lines, I hold the dubious honor of having posted final entries in two threads; What Are You Reading Now? (Community Discussion) and Character Updates #18 (Oblivion General Discussion). That being the case, and us being allowed to EDIT our posts there for the time being, I have been adding new info to those two final posts to keep them up to date. Silliness I know, since no one is likely to see the new info, but it somehow makes it seems as if the old forums are not yet totally kaput. Besides, it's simply a matter of copy and pasting equivalent entries from here, with maybe a slight change every now and again.

Ha, I noticed that there are a few functions available still too. Kind of cool to see my avatar is the last to reply in the Past Elder Scrolls Games subforum. I realized you can edit, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm guessing that is not a function we are supposed to still have.

Rader - Yes, your posts are still hidden until approved by a Mod. I've asked the Admins to lift the vetting restrictions on you, Crimson Paladin and vometia. Sorry it is taking awhile but as soon as they see my request, it'll only take a moment for them to adjust your accounts. In the meantime, I'll be frequently checking for new posts from you guys to help minimize your posting delays. Once the Admins lift that restriction, your PM system will come up on line also.

Sorry again for the robust spambot stuff. We get numerous bots trying to join/post every day so, though painful, the restrictions are helpful.

Honestly, nothing will be as bad as censoring parts of words because they contain letters that make up a naughty word.

That sounds like a simple fix, too. You can add whatever word you want to board filters, and usually there is an option for exact match only.

It's but a few clicks of the mouse to correct.

The Oblivion sub-forums there are still all but dead. The Mods sub-forum has few "official" individual mod threads. I had hope that that sub-forum at least would show steady activity. How are we supposed to keep abreast of new releases and updates/patches for existing mods? Has some other forum usurped that function? The Oblivion General Discussion sub-forum is little if any better off. Heck, its somewhat recently begun Screenshots thread appears to be locked. Still no forum-wide Community Discussion forum either. Gotta admit I don't help matters any, rarely contributing anything. It's just not an inviting place the way its set up. I'd likely participate more often it was more active, but at this stage I question if that will ever happen. Are sub-forums for more recently released Beth titles more active????

The Skyrim ones seem to be swamped with Xbox1 users demanding more free content. In particular, there are a lot of requests for somebody else to port PC mods over, even after the author has declined to do so. It's bad enough for me to decide that I'll not port anything new I create to Xbox1, nor allow anyone else to do so. Fortunately my mods are too demanding of the player (Build Your Own? Why can't the mod do that for me?) to be very popular.

There are a number of PC players and Mod Authors there, but I suspect the numbers are dwindling in the face of the toxic atmosphere from the Xbox1 people. PS4 users often chime in to blame Bethesda for Sony's restrictions on mods, which just makes it worse. It's that constant whine that makes me think the Creation Club is an attempt to get around the Sony issue.

The Oblivion forums probably suffer from the state of the others. The Screenshot thread was closed at Renee's request, with a "please start a fresh one" at the end.

Several posters have also made the point that the editor is less friendly on the new board, and a lot of content they intended to bring over can't be added the way they needed to. and there aren't any stickies, so stuff ages off, regardless of how much it's read, if it's not constantly updated. So they gave up.

Yeah, when I looked around over there it just confused the heck out of me. Since my current game is ESO and their forum is run by Zenimax, I gave up on the official BethSoft forums. Still not sure why they broke a good thing.
