Every hero needs theme music. Often when I when I am listening to music a song will grab me, and I will think "That is perfect for so and so!" Share some of your own character's theme music. Or theme music you think fits other people's characters. I'll get the ball rolling with some songs that make me think of characters from the TF/AF

Teresa = Hoobastank - The Reason (This is specifically about how the Emperor changed her life)

Teresa & Tadrose = Heart - Under the Sky

Teresa & Simplicia = Ayumi Hamasaki - Who (Lyrics in English)

Tadrose = StainD - So Far Away

The Bravil Fighters Guild = Rob Tyner - Blood Brothers

Vincent = R.E.M.- The Great Beyond

Pappy = Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better / Marty Robbins - Big Iron

Kurdan gro-Dragol = Queen - Gimmie The Prize

Morandil = Queen - I Want It All

Aela = Rod Stewart - Faith Of The Heart / Eric Clapton - Layla (the piano coda)

Aela & Ungarion = Queen - You're My Best Friend

Valens = Enya - Evening Falls (we will meet him in a few more episodes of Seven)

Valerius Nasica = Kansas - Carry on Wayward Son

Methredhel = Fire Inc - Nowhere Fast

Chance = Elvis - A Little Less Conversation

Do'Sakhar = Bon Jovi - Never Say Die

GAAAAAH! I thought of that song when I was reading about their past in Teresa!

I will come back to listen to the other songs later, can't right now. I want to hear Teresa's for sure.

In the meantime, here is the song for Gils in "A New Sun Rises"

That is what made me think of that song too, their history was so parallel to Freddie Mercury and Mary Austin, and I've always thought of her when I hear Freddie sing "You're My Best Friend" - wondered if he wrote that thinking of her. I played that song after reading that part about Aela in the Teresa story!

Holy Cow, what a powerful song for Teresa! In the vid, when the birds flew up in the air - that was an amazing connection with her, and then listening to the lyrics I knew the change came from Uriel - awesome choice of song for her!

These two really struck me as apropos as well, but all were excellent choices based on the personalities of the parties involved.

Loved that one for Teresa and Simplicia, where did you ever find it? The lyrics for it were amazing, and apt for their relationship - loved that one.

Subrosa already used this song for Valens, but I am nominating it also for Buffy - listening to it really brought her to mind strongly:

Buffy = Enya - Evening Falls

Black Hand
Linked via my signature, but why not.

Sethyas Velas

Skinny Puppy - Jaher

Never heard of it prior to Vurt used it as a background theme in an Ashlands Tree mod for MW. I was instantly in love with the song itself, and as I felt it embodied the aesthetic feel of my own character as I perceive him.

Deep, dark and mysterious. The song is anything but upbeat. More 'haunting' than not, within this darkness of the song there's a sense of despair, but also of wonder and a 'spirituality' all the same, hence the quote in the picture.

"All life starts with death
All death starts with life
Ever circles back again
Ever falls to regain

All life is reborn
All hope is to know
Righteous Places, Righteous Times
Even though we live to die."

Or something like that...

To Subrosa, great idea and great thread! And I loved the clip from 'Git You Sucka!' I have not seen that movie in years! And these jams...oh man. Y'all are just guilty of good taste!

About ten years ago a friend of mine turned me on to Ayumi, and I have been in love with her voice ever since. Who is my favorite song of her's. It always makes me feel like crying. I think it means a lot to her as well, because I watched one performance where she was crying while she sang it, and another where she became so choked up that she could not sing.

Unfortunately I cannot find the original version online, and I think that is the best version. All I can ever find are live versions or a remix she did recently. The remixed music does not do anything for me, it feels overproduced. The original was just a heartfelt piano and Ayumi's haunting voice. The trouble with the live versions is that I think that is her closing song, so by the time she sings it she is tired from two hours of singing and dancing, and she always interrupts the song halfway though to introduce her band. If you can ever find her Loveppears album it is on that, maybe I-Tunes or Amazon has it for download.

I had the same feeling just reading the lyrics. I would like to hear the original, that is not a song one should interrupt to introduce the band at all, that would subtract the impact totally for those who understood the lyrics as they were being sung.

"Excellent song for Seth. It has a real Dunmeri/Morrowindish feel to it, especially the vocals." - I felt that strongly too, the vocals on that were absolutely perfect for Seth's character, and for the Morrowind Dunmer voice.

Black Hand, I didnt know the source of that quote. Seths song is haunting and a little disquieting, but beautiful. How fitting.

ghastley, Fat Bottomed Girls was in our playlist on todays drive home. I couldnt remember Virgilias name at the time, but I thought how appropriate for the one in the white boots!

Heres kind of an obvious one for Abiene: Lives The River. (Much better live, but try to find Lives The River live. Google chokes on that one.)

Some wishful thinking from Jerric: I Melt With You.

A note: This one has a very naughty word. Darnand has some deeply buried insecurities and self-loathing that he would rather not expose. Heres a song for his darkest moments: Creep.

And this ones for Lildereth: I Will Remember You.

I know your pain about doing internet searches about Live! I have been a fan of them for a long time. I even used Ed Kowalczyk as a character in my old pen and paper Shadowrun game.

I can so see that for all their songs. Even poor Darnand and his low self-esteem. Let's just hope that he can keep his fingers out of the necromantic pie, and this never becomes his theme song.

Thought of another one for Valens = Van Halen - Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do

And a Vols song, what he never could say aloud to Simplicia = The Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin

For those who can remember Hirtuleius from the Battle of Bruma = John Tams - Over The Hills And Far Away

I have a pile of new ones.

I'll start with one for Ungarion = Prince - Let's Go Crazy (I cannot believe how hard it is to find Prince videos!)

And another for Ungarion = Lenny Kravitz - Dig In

Nashira = Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

Seridwe (who will appear Friday in the next episode of Seven) = Queen - Killer Queen

And a song for the heroes of Seven = Triumph - Fight The Good Fight

Now for some other folk's characters.

This one makes me think of Julian in the final episode of Old Habits Die Hard = Sting - Fields of Gold

Daenlin (from the Archer's Paradox in Bravil) = Ted Nugent - Tooth, Fang, and Claw

Abiene = I Can Stop The World

Awtwyr, personal theme: Brian Tyler - Ferrivir Tertius

Awtwyr, going into battle yet again: Alan Silvestri - AVENGERS

NPCs will come later.

Love Prince! Let's Go Crazy always makes me think of a particular stallion of my friends'. This one also fits his ebullient personality - Eurythmics - Let's Go Joniece Jamison did the backup vocals for the Revenge album and she is awesome - what a voice! You really need a powerful female singer to keep up with Annie, especially when she is in full-on rock mode. Come to think of it, it's not a bad fit for Ungarion either, based on what I've seen of him so far! wink.gif

Aww! Sting (and the Police) is another vocalist that I really really enjoy. This choice works for Julian at the end of the MQ, like SubRosa said. But at the beginning, when she first steps out of the tutorial dungeon, this is my choice for her - Annie Lennox's Little Bird.

For Cora and Wallace, this is their song - Buckingham Nicks. I've loved, loved, loved Fleetwood Mac for decades now, and this is one of my perennial favorites. I found this awesome version from before they joined FM and think this is perfect for the beginning of Cardonaccum.

Another reason to like H.E.R. biggrin.gif ...Fleetwood Mac?...Oh-ho-hooo yes!!...Loves them muchly...Even some of the post Buckingham/Nicks line-ups donchaknow... wink.gif biggrin.gif ...

Aaaamywho...

I've never thought of giving any of my characters their own theme tune...And now, trying to think of one, nothing springs to mind... sad.gif ...

But as a theme tune to the whole Knights of The Nine thing...

I always kind of imagined a whole 80s cartoon a-la Thundercats/Battle of The Planets etc long intro with all the chars turning up at some point...Aaaamywho...

Muse - Knights of Cydonia...

The theme running through my head is the instrumental bits that start at 4.15 of the song and the bits towards the end edited together, which gives ample time to preview everything...Oh hell, you know what I mean?...This is the Thundercats one...

Aaamywho, great thread...Will think of something...
Cardboard Box
Welp, I found the perfect theme tune for Ra'jirra.

When the Cat's Been Spayed - Me Old Mate
PhonAntiPhon
Perhaps the track that primarily I identify with Niamh is this one: Origa - Rise - (from the GiTS soundtrack).

Equally though, these also spring to mind:
Lana Del Rey - Ride
The Cure - Strange Day
Vex Red - The Closest

And finally:

Made Out Of Babies - Stranger

I love that song! (of course it helps that Kid Rock is from Michigan like I am). It always feels like a modern version of Bob Seger's Brave Strangers

You might also consider Stand By Me. That song has left an indelible mark in my brain thanks to the movie by the same name. Come to think of it, it makes for a good Aela and Ungarion song too.
