I got a question for all you advisors out there, though. I fell in love with my roommate, like think of love as the sun, and my self as a comet that was just mindin its own business being a swinger when it got pulled into this solar system for good. I can't concentrate, she pops into my head all the time, I count the hours until I know I can see her again, I feel like I want to just grab onto her and never let go. But she's 4 years older than me, and she shows it in maturity. Apart from the fact that her adult life is getting into full swing and just a year ago I still had to be home by midnight, we're a match made in heaven. We love the same stuff and I feel like we can hang out for weeks straight and never get sick of each other. My other two roommates have both said we should date (jokingly) and it's just getting to me. I can't stand being away from her, I can't stand being with her knowing I just want to have sex with her. I know she doesn't want a boyfriend, and I definitely don't have a chance even if she did. I mean, I can make her laugh but a guy needs more than that to get a girl 4 years older than he is. Should I just try to get over her?
Getting over someone is so hard when you haven't been out with them, but I would give it a try. Stopping obsessing over her is a good place to start, as it will mess up your interpretations of your & her emotions. Trying to stop obsessing definitely won't work so start obsessing over someone else, don't flirt or sleep with them just spend time and think about them, it may put things into perspective. A relationship with her could be an option, girls have been known to date with an age difference larger than that the other way and even though I don't know anyone who has gone out with a girl 4 years older than him, the guys who went out with girls 2 years older had far more successful relationships than with younger girls. But chances are she thinks that 4 years is too much, asking her out could be a bit too intense but admitting to her that you have sexual tension with her would be a good step if you are willing to risk your friendship.

Yeah, I'll be sure to bring some paper and a pen along. I don't know if I'll work too hard on my fanfics though. I want to focus for a bit on some of my other work.
For example, I've been fleshing out my Kendjarr concept. Basically, a Kendjarr in my universe fills the role of an elf, namely humanoid but not human. The idea was that they evolved to mimic the top predator of the planet (human, duh) as a sort of camouflage. Similar to how some flies have stripes similar to bees and wasps. They look human and most parts function like a human's Reproduction doesn't by the way, so interbreeding can't even be attempted. This is a conscious effort to evade any possible trauma's of 'weird relationships.'
Their behaviour is decidedly more animalistic in ways yet in other ways they appear more civilized.
I've got their behaviour set pretty much, but I'm still working on ways to distinguish them from humans. So far I have fine scales (indistinguishable from normal skin without a close look), cold-blooded, carnivorous, enlarged eyes with big pupils for a life in an environment where it's always night, a symbiosis with luminiscent bacteria that causes certain parts of their body to glow and curved claws for climbing and grasping. This glow is used for communication and recognition. (Each Kendjarr family has a distinguishable dominant colour.)
Oh, and I'm particularly proud of the ears. Mostly because I managed to stay away from taking human ears and making them pointy. Read on. The 'me' person is a human and the she is Kendjarr. This particular Kendjarr is still a child, had no contact with other Kendjarr and is very basic in behaviour. Her behaviour mostly resolves about stealing food at this point.
There was something that caught me, more than the hair, more than the eyes or that remarkably pale complexion. It were the ears who, although being in the right position, were nothing like the common ear found on a human’s head. In fact, I wasn’t even sure if they were ears, so different were they. They were the most amazing organic structure I’d ever seen, coloured a breathtaking red. A thin and flexible stalk that hung downward in a slight arc, long enough to reach down to her shoulders if it would bent far enough. And from this stalk branched countless smaller stalks, which branched again, which branched again, till the final result was something which resembled seaweed, only infinitely more complex. Each individual branch slowly waved back and forth, like a leaf in the wind. At random intervals, the whole stalk would flutter as if to focus on some minute sound.
I couldn’t help but try to touch them. Gently, I probed forward with a finger, doing my best not to scare her. When my finger made contact, the ear curled up into a tight bundle. A few moments later, the ear gently unwrapped back into its full splendour. ,,Hmm, very sensitive, isn’t it?” I whispered. I was now pretty much convinced that despite the visual gap between mine and hers, I was looking at a pair of genuine and functional ears

Good man, saving us from another iteration of an aged cliche

From your description of the ears, I can't help but wonder at the frequency response to audio. Specifically, would this type of ear respond to ultrasonic frequencies (the sound of computer monitors and "dog whistles" will drive it crazy) or instead to subsonic frequencies (earthquake early warnings)?
Would this ear cause this race to be sensitive to the loudness of sounds to the point of they'll be asking your main character to "speak softer please" every five minutes?

Shogun, congratulations with your guitar. I tried playing one once. Managed to cut my fingers.
Black Hand, all I can say is happy playing. If you ever make Sethyas on Oblivion, try to give us some pictures, ok?
I'll think about it, Blockhead. Lessee, I think they would have developed more towards the ultra-sonic range of their spectrum. The diet consists of small insects and animals, some of which likely make high pitched sounds themselves. Earthquakes aren't much of an issue in their environment. They're far away from any sort of tectonic activity.
About the 'speak softer' I'll have to think a bit more. More likely the ears would simply fold up partially or completely during very loud noise.

Gracias Pisces, I pretended to like another girl to explain my lovey-dovey mood and allow myself to vent some of those feelings without letting anyone know they were actually for my roommie. I had a crush on this girl before but got to know her and realized she was just not my type, we're still pretty good friends though. So I started hanging out with her more and flirting with her again (She seemed pretty happy since I hadn't flirted with her since we first met, even though she has a boyfriend)
And yeah, a guy can be as old as he wants to be compared to the girl, but the reverse just isn't so past a couple of years. For some girls it is, but an 18 year old boy and a 22 year old woman just don't fit together. She thinks of me like a brother, while I think of her like an angel. I'm not alone thugh, my 19 year old friend has been trying to make a move ever since he got back from Santa Barbara.

Yeah Pisces obsession clouds your judgment. As someone attempting to incorporate buddhist techniques of mindfulness and meditation in my life I've learned the difference between states of mind with good judgment and bad judgment, and obsession and attachment definitely lead to bad judgment. I just need to remember to be myself and feel free to act lovingly toward her but with certain boundaries kept in mind.
To be honest, she's good for me because she's motivating me to mature so I can be at her level, you know? It's hard at first, overcoming all urges to act petty or non-confrontational, or to be neater and more organized. In fact, I look at myself before I moved in and realized I've gorwn up more in these few months than my whole life. I was just really motivated not to be her bratty little brother.
And now I still like her but I'm not obsessed. I mean, I've gotten over the fact that we'll probably never be together and now, if there is that slight chance she sees something in me that makes her think about what age difference really means, I'll be ready but I'm not going to go out of my way to prove it to her. I'm going to actively try and improve myself, and hope (because I can never give up hope) that she catches on.

I'm thinking they're going to go with the 'Same teams, new map' plot. They're going to Valhalla (sp?) this time, and we're yet to see what technic will they get, though it can be seen in Halo 3 Beta that good ol' Warthog is comming for the Reds again. Speaking of Halo 3 Beta...
'Let's see the Blues are launching a coordinated offensive!' (View skips to Blues) 'I don't even know this map!' 'Where are the guns?!' 'Which base is ours?..' (View skips back to Reds again) 'What better way to slow them down than to throw dead soldiers at them! Or, if no soldiers are available - dead Grifs! Com'ere, Grif.'
Lord Revan
Jul 26 2007, 11:39 PM
Or maybe Simmons and Grif are doing "recon" (Grif, of course, is riding shotgun). They basically relive some of the the classic moments from the original beginning, while Church (maybe Tucker, too) are watching them and having the classic.
You know I wonder what the extra plot will be now, since Omega, Wyoming, Capt. Flowers (wait, scratch Flowers), Tex, Shiela, and a lot of Elites are dead. Maybe (if you can play as the Covenant, as is rumored) the aliens will play a bigger plot......
Maybe all of Blue and Red Teams are cloned (if they stay true to the ending where everyone kills each other, comic gold) after the change in times (explaining why it's Halo 3 and not Halo 2). Oh, and Vic (Jr.) and Red/Blue command play little (well, less of a role than in the original series).
Seeing the two teams confront the Flood would be Hilarious Comedy Gold!!!
Well, that's just me thinking.....

I'd like to see Flood. Perhaps there's going to be a way to play as Flood in H 3... I rather doubt that, though. But I'm sure Rooster Teeth will come up with something completely unexpected and hilarious. Like... Ooo, I dunno.
But I'm assuming Tex is alive if they stick to the 'Weirdest match ever' ending - she shouted with all the others 'NEW MAP!'
Oh yeah, it'd also make Blues to be lesser in numbers. So I'm assuming they bring back Tex.

In Season 1, they haven't yet captured their 'fitting' voices. It was really weird hearing the beginning after watching through Season 5.
Oh, and Season 2 is great, especially the beginning episode. Remember Blue Command? It's comming back, better than ever. Also... 'Agent Double-O Donut!' 'Like Doonut?'

I haven't seen much of Season 1, mostly I've stuck to season 4 and 5 (I'm biased toward Halo 2). I perfer Red Team in terms of comical acts, but I would have to pick Blue team if I could join...... or maybe I'd be an Elite (obviously one who speaks English already). Or a freelancer (black and cyan armor, and I would also speak Spanish, as I'm learning to in real life).

But if I had to pick which of the
two to join, it would be Blue team, Sarge would force too many odd jobs on me. And I don't think I could stand all his monologues and exclaimations "Eurika's Hammer" for example.
I might also enjoy picking on Caboose with Church and Tucker every now and then. Caboose is so senseless, and how he seems to really like Church even though he's accidently blow him up when in SHiela.
Which team would you be on?
