Significant: "create custom jewelry for the current crafted item sets"

This tells me that they haven't made this for new sets only, but adds confusion about attuned stations. Will every jewelry station make any piece? More to the point, how many do we need at Hunding's Hall? I don't believe they'll pass up the chance to sell at least one, but greed has been known in the past.

And no mention of Outfit system changes. Unna is miffed.
TheCheshireKhajiit
[censored]. Guess Khajiit will have to buy this chapter. Really sucks they are holding jewelry crafting ransom.
ghastley
At least Khajiit could try it on PTS before handing over the moolah. Assuming the pre-purchase offer doesn't expire before PTS availablility.

Are they that mean?

# Directly from the article: "...these new group activities spawn waves of fierce monsters and must be shut down before they overrun the surface." Sounds a lot like the portals that spawn all over Craglorn, but the "overrun the surface" sounds different.

I'd assume the last part is just for dramatic effect, like how Dark Anchors are pulling Tamriel into Coldharbour or whatever.
monkeyemoness
^Probably. Without it, these sound 100% like the Craglorn portals so it was probably to make them seem different lol

They could end up doing something completely different this year, but you had to have gotten special permission to try it out on the PTS whether you bought it or not. That said, for Morrowind the pre-purchase offer persisted after the Early Access period (I know because I got mine on June before the "official" release and still got the bonuses).
ghastley
I was forgetting that your PTS access mirrors your live as far as Chapters and DLC go. Yes, you'd have to buy it before you could use it on PTS, too.

The exception that led me off in the wrong direction is the Crown Store, where you can buy almost anything they want you to try for a single crown, and the template characters get a big supply for free. I was busy trial-furnishing over there just before they recopied over the top of it. Ditto with Outfits slots, before they released.

Let Crafting Hell Commence!

Anniversary Event runs from Wednesday, April 4th to Monday, April 16th. New quest must be completed for a new cake with three tiers in order to get the EXP bonus.

The rewards from the Anniversary Gift Boxes are the same as last year, with a rare chance to get the newer motifs and an even rarer chance to get the Worm Cult motif. Hm....I can see this is going to be an issue. Personally, I would have preferred Worm Cult to be a separate drop from the Motif/Rare Craftng Material Drop but whatever.

Reminder that only Daily Quests count for an Anniversary Gift Box drop (as in the kind that only reset by the next day), not those infinitely repeatables like the Thieves Guild board quests.
ghastley
And of course the whining has already begun on the forums.

The general gist is that the entitled want the new motif to be easy to get for them, but hard for everyone else, so they can make a lot of gold. If it's not like that, then it's not fair!

Does anyone actually wear stuff using the rare motifs, or are they just part of the Master Writ economy? Should I be trading in Worm Cult Futures? biggrin.gif
monkeyemoness
Yeah, the whining was inevitable regardless of what they did. Personally I think it works out for the general population. It's great that there's a sort of catch-up event for people that don't religiously collect motifs (like I do), especially now that we have Outfits to use these motifs on as well as Master Writs. People seem to forget that this is a game.

I love this festival because there's a chance I'll get a rare motif page that I otherwise can't afford to buy, plus I love the crafting goodies. Crafting bag means it will just be there when Elke needs it. Without the crafting bag I would probably sit this one out!

Thank you for the news!

Now the NDA's are coming off for Summerset, I'm happy to note that two-handed weapons are becoming two parts of a set, so Unna's no longer at a double disadvantage. I didn't notice any mention of "hide pants", but I'm still hoping.

Of course, if we need to buy the Chapter to get that, then we're not so happy.
monkeyemoness
Some of the best news, tbh.

Additional note:
  • Artaeum is a separate zone the size of a DLC zone, just as the datamining found. Alinor is slightly smaller than Vvardenfell.
  • Jewelry traits are found in a similar fashion to Nirnhoned gear, in that you need to do quests in Summerset to find them. The trait stones are restricted to certain activities, with specific stones locked to specific activities. (One in Trial rewards, one in Cyrodiil, one in Summerset dailies, etc.) Old jewelry can't be deconstructed, but it can be re-traited.
  • The Abyssal Geysers are basically Dolmen, lol

Nothing particularly interesting to Khajiit, but the Argo selections might be nice for Argo magicka characters.

Coming Soon: Battlegrounds for All & Morrowind Moving to Crown Store & ESO Plus!

Huh.

Starting with Summerset's launch, Morrowind can be bought from the Crown Store as a DLC if you haven't upgraded yet, and bundled with new accounts by default. The Warden class will be a separate Crown Store purchase. Battlegrounds also become part of the base game without an additional purchase.

You can also get the stuff bundled with the collector's pack as separate items? Like, just the stuff, the DLC isn't included in it???? That's...actually kinda neat. You'd think they'd dump those into the Crown Crates.

Makes me glad I didn't opt for the Morrowind edition when I joined. My ESO+ will cover that now. smile.gif
TheCheshireKhajiit
Well from a business standpoint, it seems ill timed. It sends the message that you can not waste your money buying the chapter now and get it for free later. Khajiit would still buy Morrowind, knowing what he knows now, because with that you got a new class. Summerset gives you... jewelry crafting with a limitation that you can only find jewelry stuff in Summerset? No thanks, Khajiit will wait for it to be free.
monkeyemoness
Weeeeell, you can only find some of the TRAIT STONES in Summerset, as well as jewelry used for research. You can find the basic materials everywhere, even without the Chapter, and I get the feeling the largest draw of Jewelry crafting will be improving and possibly re-traiting existing Jewelry.

They said that it's not supposed to shake up the meta too much, but I find that unlikely, and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way whether or not it ends up being true. It's like the Warden all over again.

Then you have the people that don't want to wait and will buy it regardless, whether it's for the story content, the new zone to explore, because they like Altmer (even with the amount of detractors given how un-Altmeri everything looks--and I agree with them), and just new things in general.

Now that they've shown that they can turn chapters into DLCs, they can get people that didn't go for it the first time.

I was concerned about Morrowind, with all the sales going on and the early access, but this year I'm less concerned. I think they know exactly what they're doing here.

Summerset on PTS on Monday

Too bad I'll be busy with Crafting Hell, so I probably won't be able to check out Summerset right away. This time around there's only an NDA for the main quest (which I never spoil for myself anyways) so I guess I can freely talk about being able to visit it whenever because I was in the Morrowind beta last year.

Mostly I wanna see Jewelry Crafting and the daily log-in rewards so. And to see whether there's some redeeming qualities to this cowardly rendition of Summerset

You know, that is kind of a pisser for anyone (me) who paid to pre-subscribe to Morrowind to have it free for everyone now just a year later. It kind of makes me wonder if I was stupid to pre-subscribe to Summerset Isles, like maybe it will be given away free in a year.

And it isn't as though I wouldn't buy it if it was DLC to begin with, because I have actually bought all the DLC I like on their one year anniversary (to get the discount rate). They come free with my Plus membership so I can play them first and see if I want to buy.

But to sell something as a separate "Chapter" and then give it free in a year = that kind of sticks it in the face of those that paid for it (imho).

Ditto. Agreed.

ghastley
As I understand it, the Morrowind zone(s), the gameplay changes, etc. are being moved into the base, but the Warden class is still a separate store thing, (like the Imperial race) and so on.

Some of that will be because they can't keep it separate any more. If Summerset is built on things introduced by Morrowind, they need to bundle it into the new chapter or the base, or else people why buy Summerset without Morrowind end up with an unusable game. It looks like that's where they made the split. The base game enhancements got merged down, and the "chapter-unique" things became Crown Store goodies.

I look at the chapters as paying to have the content now, rather than later. I won't be getting Summerset because I'm not ready for it. but if I'd already played Morrowind into the ground, I would get it.

I did notice, but I've been religiously doing daily crafting writs for the gold, as we're close to getting the next house. Yes, thanks for posting it though in case someone didn't know.

I've been really disgruntled over it only being 20% off; isn't this the first time the sale has been for such a low percentage? I really hope this isn't a trend they intend to stick with, urgh. I'm afraid to hold out for another 40-50% sale; but really don't want to encourage Zen to think 20% is an acceptable discount by buying any now, laugh.gif

I'm sure I'll end up having to buy some just in case they don't give us a better deal in the future, but I'm not buying the 21,000 crowns for only 20% savings, that is 40 USD higher than I paid for that same package in December, urk. verysad.gif

The six days' crates are finally out after the maintenance, and let's just say I got a lot of gems.

The Sabre cat cub is cute enough that it will get the run of the yard at Autumn's Gate, but the face markings and similar will not be seen again.

Acadian
Got my crates also. Turned everything we could back in for gems so that is good (103 total gem count now). No complaints since the crates are fun and free! Then I looked through the whole crate store lineup - by Kyne's wings, no wonder I turned everything I could back in. There is not a single thing in the crate store Buffy wants - at any price. Lol.

We look forward to the day when the useless stuff we get is duplicated, and generates gems instead. There seems to be an endless supply of face markings.

Grrrr....

The PTS reset, and so I have to create a new character before I can test-build stuff at Mathiisen Manor. Summerset adds a lot of new items, and most of them are Altmer style. In particular, I want to try the stair units and a statue at the back of the house, and if Dibella is available, find out how large the statues is.

Now it will all take a bit longer.

This post made me go check the choices, too, and also look at UESP to see what's been there in the past. I noticed that there was a new season planned to coincide with the Summerset release. When I joined ESO, it was the end of Flame Atronach, and switched to the (new) Scalecaller later. Now we're getting another new one, and I'm wondering if that will be the pattern going forward. Will the older ones return, or will each season see a brand-new collection?

If so, I get worried that some things I want will never return to the gem store. Apart from the junk levels, they don't appear to overlap at all.

Well, the way they do the new seasons is kind of confusing in general. Last year they seemed to be on an every two month basis for changing Crate seasons but this year they seem to be going longer on current seasons. On bringing a seasons crates back, last year they did bring a previous seasons crates back for a limited time, so that can happen.

[On why the architecture looks nothing like it's described in lore.]
We already had an established architecture style with Auridon, so we wanted to expand on that and make it more elaborate and detailed.

IPB Image

Fair enough.

I still don't like it, and I'm going to headcanon the hell out of it like I do with Cyrodiil/the Imperial City. Personally, I think the styles from Auridon are only barely there, and that they went with a Gothic style honestly takes away from the "aesthetic" as Altmeri architecture. (As everyone and their mom will tell you, it looks like High Rock.)

There was also mention of how Altmer constantly change everything, so there's also that, and tbh they could have used that as an excuse, but they pulled the "unreliable narrator" bit again and at this point it's really tiring because it's just a way for them to avoid saying "we didn't have time/resources to do it justice". Again, the original concept was more in line with what appeared in lore, but it was tossed years ago and from what I've seen there is basically nothing of it left save for the sky in Artaeum.

I probably wouldn't be as mad if Matt Firor wouldn't have opened his stupid mouth and shown a frightening level of ignorance for the lore of the game he's working on. I feel more comfortable having imput from the guys who are "in the know", though. I guess. Whatever. Virtually everything else is great, so I'm looking forward to the chapter.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Khajiit wishes he could get excited about the new chapter, but it’s just not happening for him.
mALX

Darn it, I missed the podcast. But I already bought Summerset Isles = and yeah, not thrilled that they didn't do something spectacular with the architecture there; I mean they could have just retextured the Auridon style with some glass looking textures and been closer to what everyone expected than what they did, lol.

I am excited about the Psijic magic though; hope that is well done.

Darn, I wish I hadn't missed the podcast!

monkeyemoness
You can watch the full recording in Bethesda's twitch account, if you want to catch what they talked about. I actually completely forgot about the stream and tuned in about 40 minutes in lol

As disappointing as the architecture is, at least Summerset has a lot of neat things going for it, which is great. I also got it for a 25% discount so.

Blossom was tempted to get a goat for the yard of her Orc Longhouse, until she remembered that she doesn't have one in this game. tongue.gif

However, the return of any prior season of crate items is a good thing. Am I right in thinking it's only the second third time they did this?

Of course, Unna's white bear wasn't ever in crates, so we won't even mention that.
monkeyemoness
Ugh, what?

They didn't bring back the Crown Gem store for the Storm Atronach Crate return last year. This blows.

I just noticed that the Wild Hunt crates returned a week after the Storm Atronach ones. Both before I joined, so I missed out twice, twice. I'm hoping they'll re-do the whole range at some point, as there are thing from other seasons that would be worth a few gems.

A further annoyance is that the Cyrod Patrician gown is still available in the store on PTS, after it went away on live. That's the one Blossom would have been wearing, if we'd been in time for it. I didn't notice if there are any other PTS left-overs, but my latest test char went straight for that one.

Added some positive feedback for this on their forums. Can't hurt.
