I just bought a penny tin whistle with my Christmas gift card balance on Amazon. Soon I’ll be listening to a lot of celtic tunes featuring these instruments as I’m quite serious about learning to play it!

Came across a recent live performance of Beethoven's piano sonata No.18, the so-called Hunt, played by Ronald Brautigam on a fine sounding fortepiano. I've listened to it at least once a day. Needless to say I'm rather impressed:

Moranbong Band - Dash to the Future (North Korean girl group)

I just had to share this. It's a really nice, upbeat song. I was surprised it was as catchy as it was.

Yes; SISTAR said it first.

My top two absolute favourite tracks of the overall masterpiece that is the Deus Ex score.

Ocean lab

Hong Kong canal

Ocean lab is absolutely amazing but I think Hong Kong canal wins out for me. It really captures the (mostly) desolate backalleys and hauntingly empty apartments. You sneak quietly through it all, wanting to set things right, eager to find as much hidden stuff as possible, and always with the foreboding feeling that this peaceful exploring is only temporary. Soon enough, things will heat up.

You pause for just a moment, and then you scurry through the night, into the shadows once again...

Found a YT video by Rick Beato amongst today's recommendations that is a something of a tribute to Martha Argerich, still going strong a few months shy of 80! Well worth a look-see...

(video) Martha Argerich: 80 Year Old SUPER VIRTUOSO!! How is this even possible? (video)

After watching the above, I returned to a 2019 filmed live concert performance of hers I quite enjoy; Beethoven's first piano concerto plus encores...

Ha! That Beato video appeared in my recommendations too! I was amazed, I'd never heard of her before. But she is now officially my new favorite inspiration and role model. salute.gif

Now here's an odd mix if I ever posted one:

Oh I know this song! They do sound a lot alike.

Old Gods of Appalachia is an original horror podcast I found recently. The songs by Landon Blood make me think of Manly Wade Wellman's character Silver John. He is what I imagine Silver John's music sounds like, as he wanders the shrouded mountains and dark hollers of Appalachia.

Doh! I let the 4th pass without posting an appropriate mini concert suitable to the occasion.

(video link) Gottschalk: "The Union" (which includes the US National Anthem), eight piano version (video link)

The below is old and poorly recorded. The piece can be heard in much better recorded sound. However, those are far too civilized. Too tame. Ives' performance is about as raw as you can get. This, to me, is how it should be done.
(video link) Charles Ives: "We Are There" - Patriotic Song, sung and accompanied by the composer! (video link)

An early work of Ives, more 'traditional' than the above, but still distinctly Ives.

Just finished listening to a piece I admit to never paying attention to before, Brahms second piano sonata, in an audio-only performance by Helene Grimaud, who I also haven't paid much attention to. Am most impressed, the more so in that this is one of the increasingly more rare recordings that still sound halfway decent despite my worsening hearing. I notice a decided Liszt influence in the work... in a good way.

My favorite guitarist playing an unaccompanied rendition of a standard by Victor Young: Joe Pass plays Stella By Starlight.

The greatest (or at least my favorite) musician of all-time, Jerry Cantrell, has his third solo album, Brighten, coming out in October, since Alice in Chains finished their tour last year or the year before. He just released a single off of it and it is an absolute banger. Have to stop myself from playing it too much and getting tired of it, but it is so damn good. Jerry always delivers.

October 29th can't come soon enough.

Watching your link reminded me that, some years back, I came across a 'ballerina-centric' video that blew me away. Devoted to one artist, showing highlights from her career. Decided to find it again. Alas, I can't, despite a lengthy search. Don't recall the ballerina's name or even her nationality. Too, I've no idea if the video still exists on YouTube.

As we all know, Dreamcatcher used to be another group called Minx. They cancelled that and redebuted as the hardrockers we know today, adding two members in the process. They were indeed quite a different group, wouldn't you say? biggrin.gif
