There are other reasons for being vegetarian/vegan, most animals which serve as food don't get the most humane treatment, hamster loads of environmental damage caused by lifestock and it is about 100 times more efficient energywise to be vegan. I would be vegan but my stomach outweighs by conscience.

Any type of bean, raw beans are better but baked beans are adequte. Beans carry alot of the things you need to survive, not everything but bread contains the rest, of course you'll get all sorts of conditions sooner or later because your not getting the right vitamins/minerals but that won't kill you.

I could never be vegan, since I really dislike beans and soy. I find meat to be highly efficient; large amounts of energy packed into a small volume. What could be better than that? (No offense intended to those of you who choose not to eat meat; I could just never be one of you).

I'll be grilling some chicken for dinner, shortly. I try to avoid red meat, for my health--can't say I'm particularly successful, though. I like bacon too much.
If I could afford to I'd buy local, organically-raised meats. I don't think that there is anything wrong with eating meat, but if I could I'd avoid mass-produced meat, because the animals are raised in poor conditions, and large animal confinement operations are environmentally destructive.

**Wipes off Soy-Milk** Remind me to thank Revan in my own special way....
...as for hunting my food...I think we would all have a great deal more of respect for animals if we had'nt reduced them to livestock. When your hunting something down for days on end, and you may well end up becoming your quarry's meal, you learn NOT to develop a "I am Man, I can eat anything I want" complex.
At that same token, I respect Vegetarians who chose not to eat meat, but dont make it a religion. "How could you eat meat?" Like this. (Takes a big bite of steak.) I am not one to put down others for their life choices, but when they feel the need to put mine down..)
I can be just as biting and mean as the Militant Vegetarians can be...."Fine, bears are cute. In National Geographic. Lets throw you in a bear den, and see how tasty,..ah..cute,..they find you to be. And dont forget to play with the Cubs, the Mama Bear LOVES that!!"
