QUOTE(treydog @ Dec 3 2006, 04:55 PM) *

So I built the first fire of the season this morning. It really isn't all that cold, but it is a gray, overcast day. Then too, we had a lot of smallish branches scattered on the ground from the windstorm on Friday.... So why not? A chance to curl up with a book, some homemade cinnamon bread, and the dachshund.... And maybe a chance to do a little writing....

Sounds excellent to me! As a matter of fact I did some writing yesterday...and will probably do some more today.....if I can put my book away that is!
Dantrag
I have plenty of things to do right now, no time for fires in my living room.

I have to work on some songs that a friend and I have written, read Neuromancer, play NWN2 and Prince of Persia, go christmas shopping, schoolwork, work, play with the savior of the revolution...

So much to do, so little time.
The Metal Mallet
I actually had my second fire of the year. And now it's starting to snow! First snows are always really nice to see, but terrible to drive in. It's slippery stuff. December has officially begun now!
Pisces
Soon it will be Christmas and I can spend days down at the beech (Southern Hemisphere rules tongue.gif )
Channler
I love the fact that we get really cold rain here in NC danny but it doesn't want to snow... Hah, and when it does snow people freak out over like a quarter of a quarter of a inch.
Black Hand
Ahh, the southwest coast...the worst we get is reaalllyy cold winds, and a LOT of rain.

In Chicago, we finally have seasonally appropriate weather: it has been below freezing for quite a few days, and there is even a bit of white stuff on the ground. This makes me very happy. Of course, my friends all make fun of me, saying that it is only because I'm Canadian that I want it to be so cold. Then again, Canadians are born with their ice skates on. Even better, I learned to skate and walk in the same year. I really love winter.

Oh I do agree with you! I also love winter, and usually we do have decent winters in my part of Sweden, but not this year...itīs like early fall....too warm and wet..YUCK!

Same here Minkey, today it was about 7 - 10 degrees, dark and raining - alright weather some months ago but not in December kvleft.gif
canis216
We've got some nice snow here in the northern Rockies. It warmed a bit today, however. We had a couple inches fall this morning and much of it has probably melted away already. That still leaves about 3 inches, but I was looking forward to more--I've got snowshoes I want to trek around in.
ShogunSniper
jeeze it was like 70 here in TN about a week ago and now its down in the 20's...

still no snow yet.. no precipitation in quite a while in fact.

well i have to agree with this statement, except not in Illinois, but In Missouri. 14 inches of snow... honestly, we haven't had a substantial about of snow in who knows how long, where'd that all come from. It was cool until i had to shovel the drive tongue.gif

I like winter, the messing around in the snow part, not the shovel the snow part, but i dunno, it has to be done.
Dantrag
I love cold weather, don't care how wet, dry, or cloudy it is. Gimme a sweatshirt and I'm good to go.
The Metal Mallet
Snow rocks, but winter colds suck! My throat is all clogged up with who knows what. But other than that, I'm looking forward to more snow. One of my friends that I haven't seen in awile wants to go toboganning with me once there's enough.

Too bad there's still like 3 weeks until we get a break from school... I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to that.
Lord Revan

Well, down here in Texas there was a day and night of snow, but it's thawed by now. So we have to deal with nothing but cold winds and no snow (that's the fun part of winter). It's about two-three weeks before we're out for Christmas break. The last Tuesday and Wednesday are both half days (thank goodness for that!).

By the way has anyone else seen the Nativity Story, I just saw it on last Sunday. And I thought it was pretty good, if not a little historically incorrect (possibly incorrect). smile.gif

Hace Frio en Texas. I love Spanish, which I'm learning as a second language.
The Metal Mallet
Last movie I've seen in theaters was the Borat movie. It's pretty hilarious if you ask me; quite over-the-top in some spots which was great. I won't write any spoilers, but there's one scene that if someone tells you about it before you go, it would ruin the scene for you. Those who've seen it probably know which scene I speak of... wink.gif

So no, I haven't seen the Nativity Story. I'm probably not either; I'm not very interested in those types of movies. I haven't seen The Passion either. What I need to do is buy Clerks 2 on DVD...

So what's this I hear about you Swedish folks burning down the Gavle Christmas Goat? (Sorry, no link. I imagine if you Google it, you will find something.)

I thought we had rednecks here in TN, but you guys have burned or run over the goat with a car(!) 22 times in the last 40 years! Oh, the humanity :lol :lol

Hello Peoples of Chorrol! I've been gone for a while, but now am back...Bask in my Supreme Glow...jk
Lord Revan

Well, I don't intend on seeing The Passion Of Christ either, I don't like Mel Gibson anyway......... I do, however enjoy watching middle/ classical age movies (Troy, One night with the King, etc.) ONWTK was the story of Ester (I think that's how her name was spelled) I thought it had great music and was an excelent story.

As for the goat thing, I've never heard of it anyway......... I don't know that much about Swiden. So I can't get involved in this debate, sorry. wink.gif

I'm not yet in College, and not quite into flirting with girls yet......... Seriously, I'm just not interested yet! But I do like seventy degree weather, beaches well.............. I perfer the suburbs of the central/ southern states, but don't like the counrtyside that much. Gotta love America! biggrin.gif

Learn to ski, or snowshoe, or something. Getting some real outdoor activity makes cold winters much more tolerable.

Hmm...you should eventually see the PAssion though...It's a very good movie...

Oh and itīs GREAT to see you again!

Hmm...Just noticed that...Is the goat like their version of the giant christmas tree in Time square? Except we don't usually set it on fire...

biggrin.gif Ha! You will have a home away from home here, then.

In other news, I'm cursing like a madman here, because my MW Construction Set keeps crashing, the textures on a dagger I'm trying to mod are non-existent [model always turns white] and the only exporting tutorial for MAX->MW is not on the net anymore. I am really boiling.

...but at least my coffee boiled & got done, too.

I'm home for the holidays, I applied for a job at one of the local ski hills where my sister works to get me through the holidays. This is the first time wireless has worked all day. I'm going to move into my sister's though, where it's easier to leech and there's more to do. I cleaned my dorm to the level of spotlessness before I left but something tells me the tape job I did on the smoke detector just won't fly and I'll probably come back to a violation.

So I'm going to start shooting some shorts when I come back for winter term, My goal is to have completed 10 scripts for shorts by the time I get back so I can roll right into them.

That's pretty much all my news, how are all of you?
ShogunSniper
im getting in the christmas spirit!! *yay*

new x-mas avatar, it santaroth!

yeah, chirstmas spirit is actually making me sick.. but oh well.
Soulseeker3.0
Meh, it doesn't make me sick but Christmas has lost some of its 'umph' ever since i've been old enough to help out more then just sit back... biggrin.gif oh well... what can ya do?
The Metal Mallet
I'm looking forward to the x-mas holidays simply because all my friends who are out of town at college/university will be back in town and I can chill out with them again. That and the parties tongue.gif
Taillus
I am excited for the old Xmas to return because this year I am feeling it. I have my shopping done and can sit back and watch everyone else panic. Not to mention that I did up a little stocking for a young child from one of those angel trees you find in a mall. Knowing that I will make a little 5 year old's Xmas is the most wonderful feeling one can have. This year I am focusing on what matters most. I have a wonderful fiance and will be spending time with both families this year. Im not sure what I am getting for presents but I really don't care. LOL it's awesome!
Channler
So I got my acceptance letter today..

Yay for me smile.gif
minque
Ahhh your posts here make me happy! Iīm so glad you guys are looking forward to X-mas! I am to...sort of, but itīs still long way to go and too much undone...

But my daughter is returning from Michigan on friday...it will be nice to have her back , even if itīs just for the holidays. Sheīll set of for Berlin, Germany in january.

Anyway Iīm off to a meeting in southern Sweden on wednesday, and while there Iīll pick the daughter up in Copenhagen . Then weīre going to visit my old parents who lives down there in Landskrona...that will be nice! I donīt see them very often, since I live 350 km away!

Ah well....
Lord Revan

Well, I'm looking forward to a lot of things; first and foremost......... Spending time with my older cousin in Oklahoma. We both like the same kind of things, and he's the one who introduced me to TES (he had Morrowind for the computer).
Also I want to see "Night in the Museum" movie, it looks like comedy gold: small roman soldier- "we may be small, but our hearts are large......... metaphorically speaking."

And that's all that my mind can come up with so far.........
Soulseeker3.0
wow, i've feel behind Minque... I thought your daughter was on the east coast... Michigan is within a day's driving. biggrin.gif

Revan, Yeah that movie does look good IMO but i seem to like all the movies my friends say suck sooo... tongue.gif
Lord Revan

So you consider me a friend? That could get you killed laugh.gif ok, then you didn't hear about this movie from me then. Is that fair enough?
Soulseeker3.0
no no, nono.gif i don't think of you as a friend, because my friends would a) disagree with me or cool.gif abuse me (its true, me and my friends hit each other tongue.gif)

meh, I watched it. Parents made a family "get together bonding-ful-ness " time or somethin out of it. I didn't really like it, i don't know if it is because i've heard it and felt i didn't want to see it or what it was.
Black Hand
Meh, Im not Christian, or anything for that matter, plus I dont like the over-hyped consumerist materialism that overshadows a holiday that supposed to be about the exact opposite, the trancendent achieving of love for others more then ones self 'peace on earth, and goodwill towards all men'.

That versus "hey! I gotcha a Ninety-Five Dollar Sweater from the Gap that you'll never wear!! Dont you love me?"

No. I despised you prior to the ugly sweater. Your trinket has done little to alter my opinion.

Gift Cards, people! Because you dont know what the other person will wear or use!

Ahh, what do I know? I have'nt gone to a Christmas Party for ages.....I dont like kissing my drunk aunt underneath the mistle-toe....but theres this hot chick I work with......

Gift cards are good for those family members who you never see and your sure you didn't have last year but there on the list, but if you know someone then nothing beats a well chosen gift.
Usually I think gift cards are a bit crap because I always get gift cards to unethical stores so I'm left not knowing what to do with it, personally I like giving trade aid chocolate to everyone, sooo tasty and its vegan too; gift cards are good if you know what stores they go to. I am good at art so I can just draw/paint for something for everyone if I have enough time (not this Christmas since I don't finish uni till the 20th).
Black Hand
Vegan? Whats that? Isn't 'Vegan' a derivative of 'Vegetarian'? Which itself is an ancient Esporantan word translated loosely as 'He who is unable to hunt satisfactorially".
Pisces
vegetarian is no meat more or less (some people eat fish), vegan is no animal products like milk or eggs (more or less, alot of people eat honey).
