QUOTE(Dantrag @ Mar 9 2007, 03:56 PM)

I have also been listening to Age of Winters, Metal Mallet. I heard about them because Guitar Hero put Freya on the game.
Random question - is that Witchery album some kind of Blue Oyster Cult (pretend I made two dots over the 'O') tribute?
Yea, Guitar Hero II got me hooked onto The Sword, it also did that with Danzig as well. It's funny to think that I like the fake version on Guitar Hero II better than the original song, simply because the mixing on it is better. You can definitely tell they wanted to get an old school, Black Sabbath sound on Age of Winters since the guitars are what stand out the most. It's still pretty kick-boat music though.
As for the Witchery album possibly being a tribute to Blue Oyster Cult, I don't think that's the case. I haven't listened to the Blue Oyster Cult song/CD, but I would be surprised if Witchery (who are from Sweden) even know of the existance of that CD. The songs on the Witchery CD all about pagan rituals (Draw Blood, The Ritual), and the rest is pretty much about hell/death (Ashes, Stigmatized, Styx, Legion of Hades), and then there's the sweet "monster" song "Plague Rider" that just demands you turn the volume up on it. It's a really good blackened thrash CD (basically picture riffs by The Haunted with raspy/demonic vocals).
Oh yes, here's this weekend's music listening:
The Hours That Remain - Mercenary
Age of Winters - The Sword
The Longest Night - Pharaoh
Between Two Worlds - I
Atlantis: Hyms for Disco - K-Os
The Great Cold Distance - Katatonia
The Fall of Ideals - All That Remains
The Dead Eye - The Haunted
That Pharaoh CD is a new one I recently got in the mail from an order I made. It's great! Fans of Iron Maiden would definitely love it since their sound definitely harks back to Maiden's 80s music, but there's still some progressive moments in some of their songs as well (particularly the two 8 minute songs). Still, it's absolutely solid stuff.

Yeah, everyone knows Blue Oyster Cult. "Don't Fear the Reaper" is iconic.
At this very moment I'm listening to Robert Cray. I might listen to The Beatles next. I was listening to The Doors earlier.

not much has changed on my part. i been listening to a lot of zeppelin and beatles... and the doors... and the who... hendrix, stones, pink floyd, some more zeppelin...
just now i was listening to some Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Deja Vu, more specifically.
i dont actually 'listen' to any modern music, so long as they keep calling a lot of the trash out there rock. i have however listened to some royksopp, which is a step away from my usual genre. a lot of people think im weird. and a hippy.
i think im both.

Mar 17 2007, 04:17 PM
This is going to be a large post today. I recently went on a CD spending binge so I gots lots of stuff to talk about. But first, here's this weekend's music listening list:
Impressions In Blood by Vader *
The Great Cold Distance by Katatonia
The Fall of Ideals by All That Remains
The Dead Eye by The Haunted
The Scattering of Ashes by Into Eternity
10,000 Days by Tool
Saturday Night Wrist by Deftones
Alone by Solitude Aeturnus
In The Absence of Truth by Isis
* This CD would've ranked lower in the list but I recently got it so I stuck it there
As for recent CDs I've purchased, here are my first immediate opinions of them:
Vader - Impressions In Blood
This is straight up Death Metal for the most part. It's heavily thrash influenced, and the drums simply blast away for the most part. The reason I can actually listen to this band is because the vocalist actually announciates his words and sounds somewhat decipherable. It's still gruff, but not nearly as horrid as most Death Metal vocalists are. They also throw in some neat, haunting sounding ochestral intros to a few of their songs. Recommended for those interested in Death Metal.
Immortal - Pure Holocaust
Since purchasing "Between Two Worlds" by I, I've been interested in knowing what Immortal sounded like, since members from I originally played in Immortal. Well, Pure Holocaust would definitely be considered no nonsense old school black metal from all the way back in 1992 or 1993 (when this was released). The guitars are lightning quick, though fortunately there seems to be some underlying melody within the flurry of guitars. And the drums blast away at freakish speeds. The vocals of Immortal (same vocalist in I), are somewhat different from normal Black Metal since it's not shrieking. I'd actually compare to sounding like a Gremlin mixed with a frog. It's kinda like an evil sounding croak basically. The production is a little thin, but there's a certain charm to the music.
Immortal - At The Heart of Winter
This is supposedly when Immortal started making music that would be considered unique. The songs on this sucker are EPIC. None of them are under six minutes, which creates lots of time to establish some mood with the songs. Musically, Immortal slowed down their music here, but with the longer songs they've made them heavier and more melodic (particularly in the intros and often used a breaks in the songs). Vocally, they still sound the same, but the much better production allows you to hear him a bit more clearly.
Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
Much like At The Heart of Winter, Immortal implement their epic black metal style on these songs. Though, unlike the previous album, they added a bit of the chaotic nature that originally existed in their sound. There's also a bit of a heavier edge to the sounds, so for those who like the epic, melodic, but ample amounts of heft, this would be the Immortal CD to check out. All three CDs are strongly recommended.
Isis - Celestial
As a fan of Isis, if I find a CD of theirs that I don't have, I'm going to get it! This one is one of their earlier releases (this actually preceeds Oceanic). So, knowing that, you'll know that this is Isis at their more feral and aggressive sound. The melodies are still there, but the focus is definitely on the heavy stuff. Choice songs would be the title track, which features are catchy opening heaviness and eventually dwindles down to a melodic landscape. Fans of the band will like this.
Mercenary - 11 Dreams
This is the Mercenary release that preceeds The Hours That Remain. And I have to say, on my first initial listen, I think I like this more. The songs seem to have more energy, more varience, and better songwriting. Vocally, it's a bit more extreme (since they still had their growler back then), but it works so darn well for their music. Like I mentioned before, this band has elements of progressive metal, power metal, and melodic death metal to name a few. Choice songs would be "World Hate Center" and "Firesoul".
Finger Eleven - Them vs. Me vs. You
It seems like Finger Eleven is constantly changing. Originally, they started off as a really catchy hard rock band, then with their previous CD, they expanded as they implemented radio-ready rock ballads and some varying tempos to their other songs. Now, with their new CD, they seemed to have abandoned their hard rock sound, instead focusing on quite a few different sounding rock styles. They goes from folky acoustic songs, to dance rock, to modern rock. While I do miss their heavier stuff, I can't truly hate this new approach. Fans of their older stuff be warned!
Insomnium - Above the Weeping World
Finally!!!! After waiting since Boxing Day of Christmas, I finally have this CD! And it DEFINATELY does not disappoint. This was exactly what I was hoping it to be. This is Melodic Death Metal at it's finest, and I add emphasis to MELODIC! The guitars on this album are fantastic, as each riff is catchy and rememorable. The vocals are gruff, but I feel they suit the music. The only unfortunate thing about this is that it's hard to decipher the gloomy, yet poetic lyrics in the songs. I absolutely adore this CD right now. Definately a Top 5 2006 CD. I suggest you get this one, though order if online instead of getting a CD store to order it for you. It takes to damn long!!

Well, another Saturday. The Countdown continues and it's sooo close to being done, in fact, these CDs are the Top 8, but I have a feeling I won't be able to listen to them all today. Most of them are around or above an hour long so it looks doubtful. I expect the Countdown to be finished by next week. Anyways, here's today's music:
Somewhere Along the Highway by Cult of Luna
Saturday Night Wrist by The Deftones
Alone by Solitude Aeturnus
In The Absense of Truth by Isis
Above the Weeping Wolrd by Insomnium
Ashes Against the Grain by Agalloch
Vol 1 by Hurt

Finally, the 2006 Countdown shall end! But it's not like it's been a bad thing, I certainly enjoyed listening to my entire 2006 collection. Here's today's list:
Above the Weeping World by Insomnium
In the Absence of Truth by Isis
Vol.1 by Hurt
Blood Mountain by Mastodon
Pure Holocaust by Immortal
At the Heart of Winter by Immortal
Sons of Northern Darkness by Immortal
11 Dreams by Mercenary
I decided to give my Immortal collection a listen today after I finish the countdown. Should be some good epic Black Metal listening!
The Metal Mallet
Apr 7 2007, 04:54 PM
Another Saturday, but a new list and a new theme! Hooray! Excited are we? I sure hope so because today's list is pretty good. Here it is:
Sons of Northern Darkness by Immortal
Burn My Eyes by Machine Head
Through the Ashes of Empires by Machine Head
The Blackening by Machine Head
Blast Tyrant by Clutch
Robot Hive/Exodus by Clutch
From Beale Street to Oblivion by Clutch
Inside the Machine by This Ending
So, I think it's obvious the today's theme is playing my entire Clutch and Machine Head releases to celebrate the two new CDs they each respectively released (The Blackening and Beale Street). Here's a couple of mini reviews for some of my latest purchases:
The Blackening by Machine Head
Wow, is one of the first things that come to mind when I listen to this sucker. The songs of this new release are epic. 4 or 5 of the 10 songs featured on this album break the 9 minute limit and work because of it. Each songs seems meticously written, and there's still plenty of punishing riffs and a lot more emphasis on some pretty slick guitar solos. They've definitely stepped up from their previous "return to form" CD. Highly recommended.
From Beale Street to Oblivion by Clutch
I always like Clutch's work, but I've never been amazed by their stuff. That is, until I gave a listen to this CD. Their brand of bluesy, southerny, hard rock is ridiculously catchy and just plain awesome. With the new record they don't exactly development their songs any further than past releases but opt for stronger songwriting. Heck, the first two opening numbers are worth the price of admission alone and there's no drop in songwriting after those songs either. Another highly reccommended CD.
The Ritual Fires of Abandonment by Minsk
Minsk are another band that writes music that's fairly similar to Neurosis, Isis, etc... Minsk themselves utilize the tribal sounding drums specifically and focus on a bit more psycheldellicia as well, particularly in the first track "Ember". Vocally, it's a mixed of chilling clean vocals and bellowing shouts/screams, both of which are used at the right moments. I have yet to give this CD it's appropriate amount of listening, but I'm definitely liking it so far. It's definitely meant to be listened as a whole though, since most of the songs contain segue tracks.
Hope by Swallow the Sun
Swallow the Sun play a genre of music I am beginning to like more and more, Doom/Death (though plain ole Doom I perfer a bit more most of the time). Hope features 8 songs, most of which are around the 6-8 minute mark, of depressingly melodic music with flourishes of heaviness tossed in for nice contrast. The regretful part about this band is vocally, as the most prevalent vocal use is the deep death metal bellow that is completely indecipherable (which is shame considering it masks the lyrics), but they fortunately break the monotony with a few clean vocals and some encompanying raspy "melodeath" vocals. Solid musically, but there's better stuff out there.
The Novella Reservoir by Novembers Doom [sic]
Novembers Doom is another Doom/Death band, but a much more exciting one in my opinion. I say this because not all of Novembers Doom's songs follow the same format. There's a couple of songs that have a quicker, more vicious edge to them (Rain and Drown the Inland Mere), then there's the heavy, slower paced songs (The Novella Reservoir) and even an acoustic track (Twilight Innocence). This variety is very welcomed by me. Plus, the vocallist has a much more appealling death metal voice since it's decipherable, yet very vicious and his clean vocals have character to them. This one is definitely reccommended to those who like Opeth and Katatonia. It's a great CD.

Saturday, Saturday, Saturday! And I'm here stuck at work with a cold! At least I have some good tunes to kill the time. Here's this week's list:
Robot Hive/Exodus by Clutch
From Beale Street to Oblivion by Clutch
The Greyest of Blue Skies by Finger Eleven
Finger Eleven by Finger Eleven
Them vs. You vs. Me by Finger Eleven
Inside the Machine by This Ending
The Ritual Fires of Abandonment by Minsk
The Greater Wrong of the Right by Skinny Puppy
Mythmaker by Skinny Puppy
Hopefully once if my order from Hellride comes in I'll take about some of my more recent CD purchases. Though I don't know if I'll be posting another weekend list, because I won't be at work next Saturday. I'll actually be on my way to the Bahamas for vacation! Weeee!
The Metal Mallet
Apr 29 2007, 09:45 PM
Well I'm currently been listening to Isis - Panopticon, Machine Head's "The Blackening", and Immortal's "Sons of Northern Darkness" alot over my trip. But like I stated earlier, my order came in just before I left for vacation, so I'll talk about my latest purchases.
Suffer No Guilt by The Gates of Slumber
Had to order this CD, since the band is on the same indie label. But I must say, this is some quality stuff. The Gates of Slumber play Doom Metal, which is slower, distortion heavy metal, but the band certainly throws in some speedier guitar parts at appropriate moments. Suffer No Guilt has 3 of it's 10 songs break the 10 minute mark, which creates for some epic composistions, one of which even breaks the 20 minute mark. There's a bit of a Black Sabbath vibe with their work, mainly due to the slightly similar sounding vocals and the production, which really emphasises the guitar and bass, but the drums sound a bit thin. I've really been enjoying this CD. Now if only I could get my hands on "Drawing Down the Sun" by The River...
Dismantling Devotion by Daylight Dies
When I first heard of Daylight Dies, I didn't give them a chance due to the "Doom/Death" label they were given (mainly the "Death" part turned me off, because I'm not fond of death vocals). But since I discovered that not all "Doom/Death" bands have terrible Death Metal vocals, I gave this band a chance and I'm very happy I did. The death vocals are more of a growling then the deep, burpy noises of some death metal that I find a lot of tolerable. Heck, they work well in establishing the sorrow and pain in the lyrics. I really love the weepy lead guitar work since a lot of the emotion is driven through the use of it. Songs to check out are the single "Lies That Bind", since it features a mixture of everything the band does well (sorrowful clean vocals, good mix of emotion and heaviness), the completely cleanly sung "Solitary Refinement", and the instrumental title track. Heavily recommended.
Vena Sera by Chevelle
Chevelle are back with a consistent, and heavier sound. Production-wise, this album is monstrously effective as everything can be heard and has heft to it at the most appropriate moments. Everything seems a bit stronger, especially since the screaming has been basically completely removed; the songs work better without it. I must add that the new bassist really adds a lot to the band, this is most notably seen in the song, "Brainiac" (one of my favourites). Other songs to check out are "I Get It" with it's ridiculously catchy chorus, and "Saferwaters" for a quality mid-tempo, melodic song. A more than solid followup from their previous CD.
In The Wake of Separation by Thine Eyes Bleed
Thine Eyes Bleed are a Canadian Melodic Thrash Band, most notably known for having Tom Araya's (of Slayer fame) younger brother playing bass for this band. This band definitely lives up to the genre they play as the music is quite vicious and fairly technical as well. There can be some gripes about monotonity though, as some songs are hard to differentiate, especially since the vocalist doesn't do much to change up his vocal style, only adding brief clean vocals to a couple of songs. I'm curious to hear how their next album that is due sometime this year will sound. Fans of the genre should enjoy this one.
All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone by Explosions In The Sky
Explosions In The Sky are an Instrumental Post Rock band. So, the songs are fairly long, meticulously written ones. I was surprised that I didn't find it difficult to pay attention to this record. The guitars are really melodic and beautiful, so they completely entranced me. I was listening to this record as I was flying home from my trip, and at that moment to be a perfectly good representation of the music. I was above the big fluffly clouds on a clear, sunny day. Absolutely breath-taking. Definitely recommended.
Conqueror by Jesu
If I were to give a loose description of Jesu's sound, I'd say it would be heavy pop music. I say this because drifting within the melodic guitars, twinkling programming, and deep, lurching basswork are vocals that would work easily on a pop rock CD (likely something like Snow Patrol, or maybe Death Cab for Cutie??). It creates for some hypnotic music. It's one of those CDs that people who don't usually listen to heavy music could listen too, much like Isis. Recommended for those intrigued by odd combinations that work.
Watching From a Distance by Warning
Warning is another Doom metal band from Britain. This is some emotional stuff, it definitely focuses on inner emotions and termoil as clearly displayed by Warning's unique vocalist. His vocals are clean, but can be an aquired taste, but he clearly emits the pain and emotion through his voice. The music behind further compliments the desolation of the music, as Warning uses a lot more of the sludgy, droning bass and guitars than other Doom bands. They still have doses of melodic guitar rise from the mire of sound, but they don't implement any speed. They perfer the crushing heaviness that slow, methodical heft can create. I adore this CD. It's been hard to listen to other stuff. It's an expensive, and fairly rare CD to get your hands on. The only place I found it was at hellride.com in their "Doom" section. I recommend to pick it up, if there's still copies left.
Beyond the Crimson Horizon by Solitude Aeturnus
I ordered this re-mastered with bonus songs CD from the same site I got my The Gates of Slumber, and Warning CD from. They also gave me a free bonus promo CD too! Anyways, this was a limited edition type thing, only 2000 copies, so I'm really happy I got my hands on this. After listening to this older CD (it was originally released in 1992 I think), Solitude Aeturnus is quickly becoming one of my favourite bands. This is Epic Doom Metal at it's finest. It easily rivals their 2006 release "Alone" (which is one of my favourites from last year). The riffs are more punishining, and just groovy. Robert Lowe sounds amazing, though not as multidimensional as his performance on "Alone", and the guitar solos are still eye catching. I'm going to treat this CD really nicely. If you can find a copy of this, I suggest you get your hands on it.

Metal enjoys his Metal?
I looked up a couple of those bands, never heard of any of them. But they're actually pretty good.
I enjoy all music, some people get a little freaked out when I switch from what they call 'satan' music to a classical station, I tell them, Mozart was the Rock Star of his day, and I can appreciate it.

Glad to hear that you guys (and possible gals) have been enjoying the music I've been talking about. I like to spread the word since music is easily becoming an important part of my life (much like writing and electrical/robotics stuff). And I got an ego that says my musical taste is awesome

Anyways, here's another recommendation for you guys. Porcupine Tree just recently released their new CD, "Fear of a Blank Planet", which I believe is a concept album based off of the lyrics I read. Porcupine Tree are a Progressive Rock band that has recently begun to add some heavy elements to their music as well (probably because Steve Wilson, the singer/guitarist of the band, has produced 3 Opeth albums). I've only listened to the first three songs so far, but they are really good (especially the 17 minute song which features a guitar solo from Rush's guitarist). Definitely recommended to Prog fans...
I'm looking at you Dantrag and Fuzzy!

Hooray! My Saturday Worktime Music List is back up running! Happy you are I hope! To celebrate, I'm going to continue my theme which involves playing any 2007 releases I have alongside any older albums I have by that artist. Here's the list:
The Greating Wrong of the Right by Skinny Puppy
Mythmaker by Skinny Puppy
Deadwing by Porcupine Tree
Fear of a Blank Planet by Porcupine Tree
Conqueror by Jesu
Hope by Swallow the Sun
The Novella Reservoir by Novembers Doom
Watching From a Distance by Warning
Now that I'm given one complete listen to Fear of a Blank Planet, I can easily recommend it. The songs I had yet to listen to are just as solid. Still, the 17 minute epic, "Anesthetize" is easily the best track of the album as it features a well balanced tempo of songwriting (it has a slow buildup, then gets a little heavy and teases you before going back into lighter moments, eventually there's a moment where it's absolutely choatic, it's great!).

So I picked up Megadeth's United Abominations today. It's got some great moments in it; songs like the re-hash of 'A Tout le Monde' with Lacuna Coil's vocalist, 'Sleepwalker', 'Washington is Next', 'Amerikhastan', 'You're Dead'....As a metter of fact, the title track and Gears of War are the only ones I'm not fond of. After the three disappointing albums in a row (Risk, The World Needs a Hero, The System Has Failed - not saying they don't have great moments, just overall not that great) this one is very refreshing.
Just to vent though, I have to say that the album art sucks. They had a contest in which fans created the cover, and the best one won. Unfortunately, the best wasn't so great. Vic Rattlehead looks like that ogre looking thing from 300, and has some angel chick hovering over him. It looks like the cover to a lame video game.
I have some more albums to look forward to as well, like Symphony X's Paradise Lost, and Dream Theater's Systematic Chaos. Really psyched for those two.

Saturday for a long weekend! Yippe! Time for my music listening for the weekend:
Megadeth - The System Has Failed
Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction
Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Whose Buying?
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Megadeth - United Abominations
Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
Forgotten Tomb - Negative Megalomania
Solitude Aeturnus - Beyond the Crimson Horizon
Solitude Aeturnus - Alone
Obviously, I'm playing all the Megadeth CDs I own. And I have to agree about the enjoyability of their new CD, definitely their most solid material in awile. I can agree about how horrendous the front cover is. Vic doesn't look right with hair. I don't mind the picture on the back of the case and the big picture in the middle of the booklet though. Those ones aren't terrible.

I have also obtained [trough some, eh, channels] new LP of New York's metal/HC group PRO PAIN - "Age of Tyranny - The Tenth Crusade". I have been to a great concert this saturday. In Berlin...at a rather small goth-club not far from where my daughter lives. This was a late birthday-present from her and was really a great experience.
The band was Crüxshadows, one of my absolute favourites. They have recently released a new CD, called Dreamcypher...and it´s just so great!
The concert itself was excellent, well performed, the singer even spoke german between the songs out of courtesy to the german audience. Then he also mingled with us, he went around, singing and even hugging us! yeah!!!!

I've been playing Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines all day long yesterday, ever since I fished it out of the mail. It's a darn good game, and it has great music to boot! As you can imagine what with it being a vampire game, the music is mostly gothic/electro/industrial. I went to this one club in the game and I thought that the music sounded familiar somehow. After my character had danced to the music for some time, I realized it could only be Genitorturers. I checked the list on the web and indeed. So I've been listening to the two albums of theirs I have (Machine Love and Sin City). The rest of the soundtrack is pretty good too. Here's the list:
Bloodlines - Ministry
Come Alive - Daniel Ash
Cain - Tiamat
Swamped - Lacuna Coil
Isolated - Chiasm
Needle's Eye - Die My Darling
Pound - Aerial2012
Lecher umbrella seller - Genitorturers
Smaller God - Darling Violetta
Swamped (Video) - Lacuna Coil
What's really funny is that you can pretty much find out who's done the soundtrack in-game. For instance in your own appartment in the game there's a Lacuna Coil poster, and there are ads for performances of some of these other bands in the club I mentioned. This game really has it all: the music, the hot gothic chicks (or hunks, if you're into those) with proper hairdo and atire, and you can
suck their blooooood!I really love games with great music!

Anyhow, there *are* few posters of groups, just check out the places with loud music - Ministry poster, for example, is all over Club Confession.

Saturday's music listening is as follows:
Fiction by Dark Tranquility
Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails
Ghost Reveries by Opeth
Damnation by Opeth
My Arms, Your Hearse by Opeth
Sin After Sin by Judas Priest
Alone by Solitude Aeturnus
Beyond the Crimson Horizon by Solitude Aeturnus
And now, I talk about some of my recent purchases:
Fiction by Dark Tranquility
Dark Tranquility is often associated with being one of the pioneers of the Melodic Death Metal genre. Well, this is my first experience with the band and I'm very impressed. This is their newest CD and the band certainly sounds motivated and energetic. For the most part, a lot of the melody is expressed through the keyboard/synth work. I'm actually very impressed with how Dark Tranquility use their keys, as they don't sound cheesy at all. A lot of the time the keys sound like a normal piano, but there's also some interesting, also trance-like synths tossed into some songs. Each song is very strong but my personal highlights are "Inside the Particle Storm" due to its quiet beginning before bursting into the vocals that sound absolutely scatching. "Empty Me" features an extended solo work between the keys and guitars that I find awesome and "Misery Crown" actually features some gothic clean vocals during the verses while the chorus is growled. This is definitely one of my favourites of 07.
My Arms, Your Hearse by Opeth
This was Opeth's third album and it's definitely a solid one. This album itself is a concept album, though I haven't read the lyrics yet so I'm sure what it's exactly about yet. Musically, it's very solid with lots of heavy guitars and enough melody to please fans looking for those moments. My current favourite song is "Demon of the Fall" which begins hellishly but progresses into some beautiful melodic work later on. Also the ending to "Karma" is absolutely insane. Easily my favourite Opeth album (then again, I don't have many of their records).
Sin After Sin by Judas Priest
I've been waiting to get my hands on this CD for awile. This is actually the only CD in my extensive Judas Priest collection that I didn't have that I wanted, so I'm very glad to have my hands on it. This was their 3rd album (including Rocka Rolla) and features classics like Dissident Aggressor, Diamonds and Rust, and Sinner. There's also a few other gems too like the ballad "Last Rose of Summer". Solid album.
Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails
This is actually my first NIN CD and I'm happy with the results. According to what I've read, the industrial edge has been brought back extensively into the mix when compared to "With Teeth". I would have to agree with that because there's definitely a lot of noisy programming going on in the lot of these tracks. It makes for some interesting listening. I'm liking this CD so far, but it probably won't crack the 2007 Top Ten.

I bought the Black Keys' Magic Potion a little while back, along with Emily Haines' Knives Don't Have Your Back. Good albums, both.

I got more musicaks for ya'lls to listen to. Here's my weekend list:
Isis - Celestial
Isis - Oceanic
Isis - Panopticon
Isis - In the Abscence of Truth
The Gates of Slumber - Suffer No Guilt
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
I - Between Two Worlds
As you can tell, I wanted to listen to my complete Isis collection that I own. I'm pretty sure those four are all their major releases, but whatever.
As of this moment, I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of my order from the states which will get me two more Insomnium CDs, a Carnal Forge CD, and a Transmission0 CD. Plus, I gotta keep an eye out for the new Neurosis album and the new Dream Theater (which is out next week I'm pretty sure).

I don't really listen to normal songs preformed by singers or bands or stuff like that. But I just downloaded the soundtrack for CAC 3: Tiberium Wars; I'm hooked.

Anyway they are still awesome!
I´m mostly listening to Crüxshadows, due to the concert I visited when I was in Berlin. Their new cd Dream Cypher is just so good!
Also I found some very good music in my daughter´s comp: Welle Erdball: Tanzpalast.....great music!

If my history is correct, I'm pretty sure that was one of the first singles that made the radio with a very clear drug reference in it. There's a line about mushrooms in it if I remember correctly.
I actually don't mind that song either.

heh. "one pill makes larger, and one pill makes you small, and the ones that mother gives dont do anything at all. go ask alice when she's ten feet tall."
some pretty blatant drug reference if you ask me.

Music! I listen to that stuff ya know? Here's this weekend's music list:
Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm
Neurosis - Given to the Rising
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
Iced Earth - Overature of the Wicked (EP)
Ion Dissonance - Minus the Herd
Pelican - City of Echoes
Hurt - Vol.1
Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies
Machine Head - The Blackening
Well I was planning to talk about my new CDs I purchased (Given to the Rising, Systematic Chaos, Overature of the Wicked, Minus the Herd, and City of Echoes) but I need to give them some more listens before I give a clear cut impression on what I think of them. So far, a lot of the Neurosis tracks have amazed me and I found that I didn't lose interest in the Dream Theater songs. "Constant Motion" so far has been my favourite track off of Systematic Chaos.

As THIH comes to the conclusion of many (but not all) comflicts I find myself looping the second-to-last track of POTC 3: AWE (One Day) which is an excellent masterpiece by Hans Zimmer.
