Hunting season has started with moose on the primary agenda

I have as many calves as I can shoot for three days only but as per usual I suspect I wonīt even see anything. Still, weather was fine and temperature in the ok-zone though I had wanted it a tad more chill.

I hunt rarely. It's hard to find the time, especially if you actually get one and have to clean it. That's a full time job in itself.
I've taken a couple of white tails here in the states with my AK.
It may seem insane but the adrenaline rush you get when you take one is unrivaled. I'm guessing it is our primative biology at work. Humans have evolved, our techniques and weapons have changed but the feeling of pride after outsmarting your prey and earning dinner remains unchanged. There is a reward system at work inside of our brains that isn't easy to comprehend.
Humans are animals at a very basic level and that is unchangeable.

Third and final day and nothing yet again. I guessed so, but you canīt know until you get out there

Overcast, a slight breeze and cold.
About humans having evolved, regarding our biological functions including what happens in the brain in various situations, according to experts it has remained unchanged since the stone age which is why we have so many accidents happening. We call it " the human factor", we canīt keep up with the technology rush since it takes millions of years for evolution to catch up and adjust.
But who cares. I didnīt get to shoot anything

I think this was a bit more than simple DNS. I could still resolve Chorrol.com to an IP address yesterday, but it's on a multi-host server, with Birdstage.net and Carangul.com also at 78.47.80.102. Using the IP address got me to Carangul.com, which just shows a logo page, with no useful link onward.
The missing link was the sub-site one at the host, not the DNS lookup. I.e. it's the host's fault, not the registrar's - unless they're the same company - the host owns a class A network, 78.x.x.x, so they're big!
Interestingly, SameIp.org shows one less site at that address today. Probably fixed(?) at the same time.

So it's been a miserable weekend for me.
Started with an accident on Friday night coming home from work - I suspect my car has been totaled.
So Saturday I picked up a rental car, and it's not the same as my car. Driving home that night it really hit me how much I miss my car. It was most likely the best car I've ever owned.
And now I have to wait until Wednesday to find out if the car is indeed totaled, and if so, how much the insurance will pay me for it.
And then I have court (I'm at fault - I rear-ended the other guy) coming up, will likely have to pay fines for failure to reduce speed. I also will likely see my insurance premiums go up. And I was so close to paying off the car, I'll likely have to start over with a new loan.
Ugh.

Saturn Aura XE 2009Awesome car for winter driving. Didn't mind all the crappy snowy conditions we got last winter. Lots of nice little amenities that I didn't think necessary in the beginning, but now realize that they're hard to live without. Second favorite car I've ever owned.
@Acadian: no, it doesn't take much to total a car, but I rather suspect it's due to the high cost of body work these days. However all of the damage to my car was confined to the engine compartment - broken radiator, maybe damaged engine block, but the cabin was intact and I sustained no injuries at all. The other vehicle was a Rover - those things are built like tanks, and of course its rear bumper rode over my front bumper and led to all that damage, but its back end was pretty much intact. I'm grateful for that because there were kids in the rear seat of that truck.

Oct 28 2014, 09:13 PM
If you're unhurt, that's the important thing. Especially with the recent news about exploding airbags and shrapnel.
And that suggests the car will be repairable, too. There's a lot of "crumple zone" at the front of a car these days that's designed to be sacrificial in collision like that, and so they make it easy to replace. If the main body shell didn't get bent, you'll probably get it back. Just make sure it's fixed by a place that uses real parts, not cheap replicas.

That's what I keep telling myself. But damn, it's still hard to lose a car before its time.
Just heard from the adjuster this morning. It is a total loss. Not surprised. I went to the tow yard to get my personal property out of it, and was able to get a closer look at the damage. Nothing in the engine compartment is in its original place. Nothing. So I'm not surprised. The adjuster said it would be sold for salvage - that's all that's left for this car.
So now we're off to the next stage, where the insurance makes me a settlement offer. Hopefully I'll be in a replacement by the end of the week, fingers crossed. I really, really hate this rental car.

I'm hoping to get into another Saturn Aura, there's quite a few good deals out there.

Don't worry, 'Rocu. It's a decent car, but just not what I'm used to. Guess twenty years of owning Saturns have spoiled me. In any case, I returned it with a nearly full tank of gas last night, which is half a tank more than I got two weeks ago.
About time, but I finally got a new used car. Yes, it's another Saturn Aura. Where my old one was the basic model, 4 cyl. engine, few options, this one is, while a year and 15,000 miles older, is fully loaded, with a 3.6L V6, power sunroof, leather seats
(heated!), auto-dim mirrors (a must for nighttime driving in the 'burbs, where every idiot in an SUV has his high beams on), 6-way adjustable power seats, and a universal garage door opener! Whoo hoo! It's silver with black interior, all the better for my old eyes. Light-colored interiors just strain my eyes from the glare. Yup, my eyes are that sensitive. In fact, one of the things that drove me nuts about the rental was that it didn't have automatic lights. So I kept driving off from work at 10 pm not realizing that I don't have my headlights on. Not good. Then it's dinging like crazy at me because I keep turning off the engine and getting out without turning the lights off!
So now I'm ready to put all this behind me and spend the next five or six years enjoying this car.
