Here we go again.

And a quick addendum before we get started.

What this thread's purpose is:

To let people gather up and discuss music, music tastes and everything thereof.

What not to do in this thread:

Posting one-liners telling only what song you are listening to.

That said, let's roll. Myself, I'm listening to a bunch of Disturbed tracks. Some weeks ago I stumbled across some fan-made music video where their song The Game was the main theme. Don't know what exactly it was that I found so good about it but not that much later I strolled over to the closest store and bought a CD of theirs. Can't say I regret that choice.

The game is one of my favourite's of their's, I also like Down with the sickness.

I'm listening to Lucky You by Deftones of their self titled album, I always perfered white pony but I ended up with this album anyway. But Lucky You is one of my favourites, Deftones a slow rock type of metal. This particular song has smooth vocals to a steady beat as its core but has 2 other vocals running which run in different tunes and speeds so the overal effect enchants you. But I say good things about everything.

In the time it took to write that I am now listening to suffocate by blindspott, who are a New Zealand band which sounds similiar to Sevendust but has a more quiet deftones tone about it.
stargelman
I'm listening to a compilation called Reggae Chich with all the cool artists like General Levy, Red Rat, Sean Paul etc. Love that dancehall reggae stuff! Much more interesting than those old sleeping pills like Bob. I don't understand much of the lyrics but it sounds really good smile.gif
Wolfie
I'm listening to Iron Maiden right now. They rock:)
I don't know why i didn't start listening to them before a couple of weeks ago......

Soon you'll be liking them more than Metallica. wink.gif

The Turning by Symphony X. It's one of my favorite Symphony X songs, mainly because it's about one of my favorite stories; Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde.

QUOTE
Lurking out of sight
Night shall fall and feed my frenzy
Beneath an eerie moon a change comes over me

Eyes glow by candlelight
a face divided in the mirror
my psyche ripped by daggers of my alchemy

Side by side with myself again
As midnight's curse descends on trembling hands

Oh - save my soul
losing control when the bells toll

Savage on the prowl
In the lamplight's glow - nocturnal
my breath hangs like ghosts in the evening air

This ill effect - a vile creation
of my design - abomination
the madness rages on and on...

Side by side with myself again
As midnight's curse descends on trembling hands

Oh - save my soul
losing control when the bells toll
Oh - feed my soul
I'm in control - when the bells toll

I think it does the story justice....and then some.

I was a power-metal lover a couple of years ago but I've pretty much given that up for now, maybe I listen to some Freedom Call once in a while but it's mostly calmer songs nowadays.

Besides the big stars like Queen and David Bowie that constatly enhance my quality of life wink.gif, I've just found two rather nice and calm acoustic-bands, Kings of Convenience and José González, the last one being my favourite. Both websites has samples so I suggest you give them a try.

Hmm, I don't get it? Or maybe the rest is left for our imagination.. I'm pretty bad at song-lyrics, no actually I'm REALLY bad at understanding song lyrics laugh.gif but I guess he is some kind of werewolf maybe? Cool if that's the case smile.gif

I guess you've never read/heard of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.

Basically, Dr. Jeckyll, a good scientist, makes a potion that turns him into Mr. Hyde, an evildoer, by night. He ends up killing himslef to get rid of mr. hyde.

make more sense now?

You guessed correctly, but now it makes more sense.. smile.gif

Guess I'll have to look that story up.

I am listening to Frequency by fearfactory on Hatefiles. This was one of those purchases where I knew a few of their songs and bought a CD at random and the CD sounds quite a bit different from the songs I knew. But I can't say I am dissappointed, it is a good mix of heavyish metal, technoish metal and technoish heavyish metal.

I wish I was listening to megadeth, I am addicted to them.

Also check out their 2001 album Digimortal, with such great songs as Invisible Wounds and Back the F*** Up smile.gif
Pisces
Oh yeah I'll have to check it out, Invisiable wounds is the entire reason I bought a fear factory CD, I had some other songs which were good but invisiable wounds was the song which convinced me.

Currently I am listening to Viorar Vel Til Loftarasa by Sigur Ros, really awesome light semi experimental music. Its kind of depressing but very bueatiful.
DoomedOne
I've been getting into seether lately. They're pretty good, right now I'd say its like a combination between union underground and linkin park.
Sinder Velvin
I watched this earlier.

Some of the songs were performed well, but most weren't. It was boring, but funny in certain parts. The subliminal messages and inclusion of many swear words in song lyrics were hilarious. So was the obsessed fan who came onstage and hugged the bass guitar player.

The only part that I really liked was the end, when Frank Black came onstage to perform The Pixies' Where Is My Mind with Placebo.

Right now I'm listening to this. I don't know why, but I've been listening to that album a lot recently.

I have never figured out why anyone on any forum would want to let everyone know what they were listening to unless it was a music forum site. Could you enlighten me please........(in head voice....maybe it's because we are all friends here and want to get to know each other better....but it sounds too cheesy to say so just keep quiet)

This thread is not only about telling what we currently listen to...it´s also meant to be a thread where we discuss music, various artists and what we like about them, and so on.It may serve as an inspiration to listen to other artists and a different kind of music than we normally do! As you my have noticed (esp. in Danny´s posts ) we tell about the cd or whatyever we listen to, quote the texts, and express our opinion of just that particular song or artist!
Tellie
I'm listening to ACDC....it's just great, I mean it has been my favourite band, since i started to listen to music ( was about 9 that time )..

The biggest moment in my life, may have been when I was at the ACDC consert at Plaza Del Toro in Madrid, in 1996....it was just awesome, I'll never forget it that moment..I had been saving for almost a year to that.

I also like Metallica and Nightwish very good..to bad that Nightwish broke up..

I was also on the Matallica consert in Oslo 2004....that was also sheer amazing.

I used to like Metallica alot more, but my interest was hurt with the release of St. Anger. I really thought that CD was quite sub-par, a real let down compared to their other Cds. Also, they shaved the classic handle bar moustaches recently. I lost alot of respect when they lost the handle bar moustaches smile.gif .

Right now I'm lostening to, who guessed it, Indie Rock. The song is King of no one, the band is The most serene republic.

I'm listening to the Fallout 2 soundtrack a lot lately. I really like it, and that intro song makes me want to go out and buy a Louis Armstrong Best-Of CD. The title track is his "A Kiss to Build a Dream On":

Give me a kiss to build a dream on
And my imagination will thrive upon that kiss
Sweetheart, I ask no more than this
A kiss to build a dream on

That's just the intro of course. The rest of the soundtrack is very different, were appropriate for the individual parts of the world. I think my favorite there is track 3 - Khans of New California (that's The Den, I think), though track 9 - City of the Dead is pretty good too.

BTW - does Fallout rock or what? smile.gif

Must, fight, back, aazing amount, of good, memories. Damn that game and its soundtrack were awesome, with songs like that, who can't love Fallout?

I'm listening to a song by Guitar Wolf called Jet Generation, a song before Bass Wolf's tragic death. Damn was that terrible, just going in his sleep like that right after a tour and with so much to do. Really great song on a really amazing album with so much attitude and so much gain and pick up. Mmm, sketchy garage punk.
Intestinal Chaos
My MSI stint continues.

Right now I'm listening to "Bring the Pain". It's their own rendition of a Method Man song put into rock form instead of rap. Personally I like it better, though this may be because I'm not a fan of rap.

Hei Stomach Ache...nice new avatar...I like it.

Well well, I have now done the worst crime ever...I LISTENED TO OLD CLASSIC'S FROM MOZART AND BEETHOVEN, it's a shame.

Dang right whipper-snapper, they were rocking out in concerts while you were in a rocking crib. *shakes fist and cane*

Right now I'm listening to Feist, another local band turned good in Europe. Damn does Ontario have musical talent or what? Let it Die by Fiest by the way, one of their classics.
Dantrag
Just bought Opeth's CD "Morningrise" and I'm really impressed. I've heard Opeth before, but not all that much, so when I sae the CD I pretty much bought it on a whim. I don't usually like screaming, but this is the exception to the rule.

Im still listening to metal. B.Y.O.B by System of A Down sweeeeeeeeettttttttt

Metal is the music of the future
Intestinal Chaos

The current song of choice is "You'll Rebel To Anything (As Long It's Not Difficult) by none other than Mindless Self Indulgence.

I'm anticipating their new tour, though they have yet to announce it I've gotten inside information from the band's publicist (who is actually rather responsive If contacted in the right ways) that they'll be touring sometime soon this year.

It's no big secret, but that's still rather cool.
Pisces
These filthy hands-Mushroomhead. Got into them quite recently, don't know why it took so long, they are really my type of music. I especially love this specific song for its piano tune.
Wurlon
My current favorite song is "Of Wolf And Man" by of course, Metallica. I'm in love with this one Metallica album, can't locate the name of the album though. I like to go from Enter Sandman to Of Wolf And Man to The Struggle Within to Wherever I May Roam to The God That Failed and then back to start. Or just listen to the whole album, all twelve songs are muy excellente.

OT: changed my avatar to fit the feel of this thread. Now wheres The Wolf? tongue.gif

Currently listening to one of the greatest songs ever created, Brownie Hawkeye by Jason Collet. Really cool song on a terrifically amazing album. It has strong vocals, a well used brass section, an amazing sound to the acoustic guitar and an amazing flow. I recomend this Album with five stars and a link to his site, where you can hear the entire album for free legally. Dang I love the Ontario Indie scene.

Wy ACDC as usual... good to see some more metallica fans out here.

That's what I'm listening to right now - Black Uhuru. Some great reggae that is. It's not super boring old like Bob, but it's also not reggae-on-steroids dancehall stuff (which I like too). It's modern, but not minimalistic. It's a great band, I tell you. After that, perhaps some dancehall - Red Rat, Vegas Man, Bounty Killer, Sean Paul.... smile.gif
Fuzzy Knight
Right now I'm listning to some good all Span, norwegian rock band - to bad they don't play more. They pretty much retired while they were still on top. Had their last concert some months ago. They really make music that fits to my taste smile.gif

Listning to "Don't Think The Way They Do"

QUOTE
They are rock'n'roll rebels
With tea in their bourbon bottles
All tightly dressed up in leather and shades
And they are cute streamline boys
With diamonds in their eyes sockets
I wanna play a guitar and be rough
'cause it's in now days
Enough!!

But I'm not like the others
I just can't be bothered
I won't think the way they do
I won't think the way they do
I'm not omotible, anti controllable
I won't think the way they do

They want to conquer the world
With nothing but a flashy tattoo
And I'm a bit surprised that so few see through
What they're trying to do
'Cause they all went shopping in the rock-star store
A copy of the big thing the week before
They get a hit then they make one more
Repeat the formula and make me bored
Enough!!

But I'm not like the others
I just can't be bothered
I won't think the way they do
I won't think the way they do
I'm not omotible, anti controllable
I won't think the way they do
I won't think the way they do
I just won't think the way they do

Our feeble are tent
But no one else seems to ask why
They still haven't changed
And no one seems to give it a try

I'm not like the others
I won't think the way they do
I won't think the way they do

I'm not omotible, anti controllable
I won't think the way they do
I won't think the way they do
I won't think they way they do
I won't think they way they do / anti controllable
I won't think they way they do / not omotible
I won't thing the way they do / anti controllable
I won't think they way they do / not omotible
Just won't think the way they do / anti controllable

Now moving on to "Cut Like Diamonds" smile.gif

Yeah I realize that, my friend on the bus said he had a metallica album he called black, I didn't realize what it was so I asked for him to let me borrow it. The next day he brought the same exact cd I had rofl.

And also I must mention as a Metallica fan I am sort of confused, am I supposed to grow long hair and wear ripped shirts? Lol when I tell people I love Metallica they say "wtf!"

Today, a well known dictator, hated by many, has died... may he have a nice, long vacation in Hell - and to celebrate I am listening to System Of A Down - Cigaro - every time I get sentimental and forgiving they remind me that some a**holes should never be forgiven - not even when they die.

me to, the Oblivion soundtrack, is by far the most beautifull D***** music I have ever heard, and that says quite a bit, as I have about 700GB of music on a portable hard-disk, and all of that music is there beacuse i have heard it before, and I thought it was exceptionally good.

I am listening to System Of A Down - Lost in Holywood, last song on Mesmerise LP... all I can say is "wow". This is truly a song filled with emotions, moving at moments and truly different from the rest of the album.

Hmmm...I didnt know that people liked system of a down...sake for me, nice to see someone else who likes it as well.

Soad is pretty good but unlike Chop Suie(sp) Mesmerise doesn't last. It gets boring after a while.
