I do the same thing. I can't work without some tunes. Usually I pop in some Oasis for that though.
Dantrag
I'm listening to "King Harvest (Has Surely Come)" by The Band.

Thanks to falkinblues, I am now a fan of The Band. they are very good. And have a large variety of styles all mixed together.

Anyone else like them?

Hey, that's some good taste you have there! What's your favorite Massive Attack tracks?
Mine'd be:

- Man Next Door
- Unfinished Sympathy
- Prayer for England (from the new 100th Window album)

Their latest two albums are really up to par with their older stuff...I really liked the Danny the Dog soundtrack - I haven't seen the movie yet though.

Until seeing your post, I was listening to some Korean hiphop. You heard me. It's actually pretty cool. I asked a few people what they thought what language that is. Answers ranged from "must be finnish" to "sounds czech" wink.gif

Ever listen to Russian rap? The words string together really well and I guess thee same might go for Korean hip-hop. Anyways, On the Mountain (a.k.a. You Know You're Right) by Nirvana.
Ambberfox
I think my favourite MA-Tracks are:

- Dissolved Girl (always reminds me of that scene in Matrix... biggrin.gif)
- Angel (I love the dark and creepy atmosphere of that one)
- Man next door (simply fantastic, probably my favourite one from the Mezzanine-Album)
- Teardrop (the song that started my interest in MA)
- Butterfly Caught
- What your soul sings

Sounds interesting, does it sound very different (besides the vocals) compared to "western" hiphop? smile.gif I mean especially concerning the composition and the use of instruments.
Red
Now listening to Blue Orchid by the White Stripes. The album is ofcourse Get Behind Me Satan. Awesome song to put it simply.
ShogunSniper
Several Small Species of Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict--Pink Floyd.

its a song with little hamster/chipmunk/squirrel sounds biggrin.gif
Red
Queen: Under pressure. This is one of my favourite Queen songs, and I'm happy I own some of their best albums.

Ahh Danny.....those are one of my favourites.....Itīs great music to run to....so energetic...but I agree their voices are.....hehe scary.. ohmy.gif
Red
Rammenstein? Aren't they the German version of Slipknot? My friend would probably like them, he's a fan of those bands. Also about Queen, they really are amazing. The lead guitar (not Mercury) created his guitar when he was about twelve and used it ever since.

Anyways, the Denial Twist by the White stripes.
ShogunSniper
The Narrow Way--Pink Floyd
it has a really cool beat in the second part of it.

The voice of Lead Singer Till Lindemann sounds scary but most of the lyrics they use are rather trivial once you understand them.

The style is a little different I'd say but to be honest I can't really tell because I don't really know neither Rammstein nor Slipknot too well....

Now playing: Fluke - Atom Bomb
sjvan0
Right now I'm listening to "Blue Fields" from the Final Fantasy VIII OST, and I just finished listening to "Under Her Control", from the same album. Lately I've just been listening to mainly VG music, such as the stuff available to download from EVE Online's soundtrack (here's the official download page), some songs from Beyond Good & Evil and Metroid Prime 2, as well as a little Antonin Dvorak thrown in for good measure (go to the past games forum on official TES forums and look for the Daggerfall trailer thread, there's some Antonin used for it, and it pwns the music in the Oblivion trailer).

Ahh, I see. Anyways, now listening to Year 2000 by Cerebral Scrub.
Wurlon
Erm yeah I know nothing about music, besides some good band names, in fact I don't even know how to play songs on this computer.... and I do have a cd-burner..... sad isn't it?
Red
That is sad. Anyways, I'm listening to shattered glass by Thrice.
Chumbaniya
Wow, this is the first time I've looked at a "now listening to" type thread and have actually been listening to something biggrin.gif

Anyway, I'm listening to the LotR sound track.
Soulseeker3.0
I'm listening to Zeromos by the Black Mages. A FF rock group biggrin.gif cool.gif hubbahubba.gif happy.gif (yeah I couldn't deside what smily to use lol)
Dantrag
I'm listening to Vampires by Strung Out.

Anyone like them/heard of them?
ED 209
The score for the HMS Pinafore.
Dantrag
I listening to the Rx Bandits.

The bassist plays a green tiger-striped upright bass. It's awesome.
Red
That sounds out-right awesome. Chris Head from AF plays a black electric guitar (Don't remember what kind right now though) with a red heart which he used his tatoo and stencil skills to make. Anyways I'm listening to "let's pray for this suicide" by Finch but don't worry, I just think the song is cool. Also, earlier I said shattered glass was by Finch, but it isn't. I meant to say Thrice so I'll edit now.

You said earlier that you're a punk fan, so I'll throw this tasty fact out there;

Someone (can't remember who) from The Vandals is in the Rx Bandits. (oh, and Thrice is awesome, if you like those guys, check out Strung Out)
Red
Really? I'll check out Rx Bandits and Strung Out tomorrow probably, thanks for the advice. And by the way, Thrice is amazing. The softer singer (keep forgetting his name) is very original in the way he sings. So soft and real, it really supports the band's sound.

Anyways, The Delegates, Supersize my fast food life.
Dantrag
After I read a little about the Mars Volta, and gettting the background of the story of their alubum, I listen to the album "Deloused in the Comatorium". Wow. It's a really great story. I never really thought about the fact that the album is a huge sci-fi story, and I've had it for months.

It's about a guy that falls into a coma and has super cool adventures, and then chooses to die.

Go listen, and you'll see what I'm talking about! (if you don't have access to the album, buy it!) It's like reading a novel, once you realize that they aren't individual songs, but more like chapters in a story.

It blew my mind.
Red
Kidn of like the new Greenday album. It's all one long, winding story. Just to tell you though, it's by far not they're best album especially because it is over played, but I must say it is great. I'll check out Mars Volta tomorow (Go weekends plus Kazaa! Keep in mind though, I only use Kazaa to check out one or two songs off of an album or to conjoin my favourite albums and always end up buying the songs I download) but I have alot of bands to check out this weekend like Youth in Asia, 86 this, check out some more NOFX, some Black Maria, and ofcourse Rx Bandits and Strung Out. Man, this is going to take a long freaking time.

Well, now for my music. Hate, an acoustic guitar solo I created in which I occasionally yell "Hate" as what we call a kicker here, aka something that escalates feelings. The solo is stange and pretty fast, but the kicker makes you confused and think of ways the song appeals to you. Also, I'm about to work on my Betrayal acoustic opening and the tune to I Will Never Change which yours truely, I created.

By the way, I'm not amazing at guitar but I think these openings and tunes are pretty good. Maybe I can get them up on-line soon, but it currently is unlikely.

Anyways,Morrowind soundtrack.
Fuzzy Knight
Now while I'm transfering some songs to my MP3 I'm listning to Span - Cut Like Diamonds, a band I dont know that much about really have heard some of their songs on TV thought and I like it smile.gif
Dantrag
I'm listening to Pickpocket by At The Drive-In.

Very good band, and The Mars Volta was made from its break-up. Two good things and one bad!

anyone heard them? It seems like nobody has heard of any band that I post...

Well i must confess that I really havenīt but it then makes me curious....do you have any links to the works of some of the bands you mention? It would be nice to hear some samples of theis music... tongue.gif
Dantrag
Here you go, minque.

The Mars Volta <--Click on 'Multimedia' for some free samples. (legal, of course. they did put it on their official website...)

At.The.Drive-In <--Click on 'Listen'

Dream Theater doesn't allow previews on their site, but go buy a Cd; you won't be disapointed.

Rush <--Probably heard them, but they are well worth mentioning anyway.

Strung Out They don't have plain old music files, but they have videos.

Tell me what else I've posted here if you're interested, and I'll give a link. I just can't remember them all.
Red
Okay, I'm listening to the Mars Volta right now and I must say, I'm very impressed, though I must also say I've only listened to one song so far. Drunkship of Lanters rocks!

EDIT: The widow (I'll never sleep alone) rocks many, many socks. Also, Strung out is awsome, as does At The Drive-in.
Dantrag
I like 'Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt" and "Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of)" the best from their Deloused album.

"The Widow" is one of the best songs on Frances, along with "L'Via L'Viaquez".

I'm actually surprised that you like At The Drive-In and The Mars Volta considering their almost chaotic style.

I actually find myself wondering how many of The Mars Volat's songs are imrpov.

Fuzzy Knight
Right now I'm listning to In Flames with Man Made God, no singing what so ever only guitar and drumbs. Great guitar work there IMO smile.gif
Om
At the moment, Nightwish - Over the Hills and Far Away...don't neccessarily take that as the type of music I always listen to though. I have a collection of random stuff I like smile.gif

Actually, I'm not very suprised that I like them. I like tons of different types of music, ranging from the Ramones to Jamaraqui, and even dabble in some country music. Some of their songs are improv? Which ones?

Anyways, Virtual Insanity by Jamaraqui.
Dantrag
I don't know for sure, but I htink some of Omar's solos are improv. Listen to Roulette Dares from about 2:15 to 3:00. that's just an example, a lot of them sound like it too.
minque
Danny!!

Woah....nice music...those links.....I never heard of them...well one i have heard of , Rush, though..but jeez great stuff-......

Nice change to all my german industrial stuff i normally listen to tongue.gif

Well well, right now I'm listning to Audioslave - Be Yourself smile.gif I really like many of Audioslaves songs, anyone else likes them? wink.gif

Hehe.. Jaah, I think Audioslave have some better songs but Rage have many good ones, more then Audioslave in my opinion. Now I'm listning to Rage against the Machines - Know your Enemy cool.gif
Red
I like me my Audioslave, but very, very few bands I like are loved more than RATM. I love the wa-wa and the distorion they have, and I also love when the lead guitarist brings his guitar way up to his shoulders to play. Also, no one has vocals like they do. And don't forget about they're awesome concerts. Anyone who plays a concert on the stock market steps, causes the building to go into lockdown and is arrested for their freedom of speach has my respect.

Rage Against The Machine- Sleep Now in the Fire.
Dantrag
I just added a new CD to my collection. 'Train of Thought' by my all-time favorite Dream Theater. I missed the release of this album (shame on me, I know.) and bought the one before and after before actually realizing that I missed it. I made up for my mistake today, and I couldn't be happier. happy.gif
Redvsbluefan0
Gorillaz-Clint Eastwood
Fuzzy Knight
Right now I'm listning to Dream Theater with Pull me Under. It's not that bad, I coud live with it. Some songs from them are good, at least in my opinion smile.gif
Red
Dangit Danny, now I have to go out and splurge on Mars Volta cd's. Thanks, there goes my X-360 fund.

Mars Volta (aka Mars AWESOME!!!!1!111!!!1one11!!!1!!!1111eleven!1!!1)- Televators.
