Two things I want to say:
1) It boggles my mind how people actually have thought this expansion was a remaster of TESIII, and some even think they were lied to. Seriously, how was it not obvious this was something totally different?
2) I'm curious: how much of the expansion deals with Vivec's quests? Because there is no way in hell that I want my main character to ever help that d-bag. But I would love for Cincinnatus to explore Balmora, Ald'ruhn, and all those other familiar places at some point.
They did an awesome job of making it look like the original = I actually recognized Balmora, Seyda Neen, and Vivec City on sight! But ... being as it takes place Eras earlier than Morrowind's storyline, it couldn't possibly be a remake of it; because other than Vivec and Divayth Fyr (and Ma'iq), those people wouldn't have been born yet!

What Hazmick said is true, the main questline is actually ridiculously short, and the rewards hardly worth it except = 1 skill point. There are other quests that reward with skill points in the expansion; so you can always forego that one if you want.
I was a bit underwhelmed by the main questline and Lord Vivec in general did not impress me like I thought he would. I was kind of disappointed in the attack on Vivec City as well, it seemed to be centered only over Vivec City and people kept going about their business as if a giant thing wasn't raining down on them. No screaming, no running around, no dying, you didn't have to fight your way out of Vivec City to get what you needed to stop it - and it ended before you returned from that first one quest.
I think Zenimax kind of shorted us all on that one, they didn't push themselves to make it feel like a real crisis imho.
Anyone who went through the Oblivion Crisis in TESIV that felt the ongoing dread of those reddening stormy skies; finding dead horses and NPC's bodies that were regular travelers of that area laying in the road (I found both the Countess of Leyawiin and her handmaiden's horse; and also Mazoga dead in the road!) - and had a genuine struggle to end the attacks and saw the evidence of the damage done long after it was gone = Zenimax's attempt at creating a "crisis" here was pedestrian in comparison.
