This is true. It does at least feel like you are following a trail.

"Snake" Logan came across a group of BoS soldiers that were friendly at first but as they spotted some raiders and killed them all, they turned on Logan though he didn't even had his weapon drawn, he was merely observing them. Logan brought them down, the scribes were easy but the knight was a challenge.

Afterwards I installed a mod which allows you to restore the power armor frame from corpses. Logan will have to venture to the Glowing Sea again and this time he decided to travel there with power armor instead of just Rad-X and RadAway like the first time though not because of the radiation but because of the monsters. The base price for the frame sold by merchants is very high and there is no way Logan could buy it anytime soon, he had never had more than 400 caps.

However, if something won't go as he had planned, he'll travel to the Glowing Sea with an ample supply of anti-radiation drugs again.
SubRosa
I guess Snake won't be joining the BOS then! I wonder why they went hostile? It might be a glitch, or something else.

There are actually power armor frames and pieces all over the Commonwealth. You must have gotten a full set of T-45 when saving Preston and company in Concord. There are other suits spread out. What you get is usually level dependent. But there are a few guaranteed suits in specific locations. Here is a map of them all.
Lopov
I forgot about the piece from Concord, I thought it disappeared as cell was reset. It was badly damaged in a battle with the deathclaw, though.

I checked if BoS at other places were hostile by FT-ing to some of their locations like the Cambridge police station but they weren't hostile. Maybe because Logan didn't attack them first.

I don't yet know who will he be joining.

, he had never had more than 400 caps.

This sounds like Cho Zen Wahn, totally! I don't get how it's possible to make lots of money in Fallout, honestly. Janet made a lot of money, but that's only because I was the one writing her quests. biggrin.gif Besides, she blew most of her caps on chems, booze, and "fun" with Nova, so she too was often broke.
Lopov
Logan joined the Railroad and got a codename Whisper. He prefers this one over the "Snake" which he acquired before the war. Right now he departed on a mission with Deacon but after that it's back to Concord to establish a Railroad safehouse nearby. On a way there they're going to stop in Diamond City, where Logan recently bought a house, to pick up crafting material needed to build some high-tech device.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Khajiit is working on a method for making a vampire character without having to use a vampire mod. This one was using the vampire mod “Nuka Sanguinare”, but there were things about it Khajiit just didn’t like. Through a combination of the vanilla game and console commands, and the Survival Options and Start Me Up mods (which are mods everybody should have, imo), we have found that playing a vampire character without a vampire mod is actually very doable. This one is still ironing out the process but it basically involves the Cannibal perk, tweaking the Survival options and Start Me Up options to simulate a vampire like state of being, and then filling in the gaps with console commands. Sun damage is a no go, but then traditional vampires from folklore had no such characteristic; this was an invention of the film industry. If anyone is interested, Khajiit will post a guide later describing the process this one used for creating such a character.
SubRosa
It is a good idea to use the Cannibal perk. You could just rename a few things, so instead of it saying you are eating flesh, you are drinking blood. You can also improve the healing stats on blood packs. I did that for Loviatar, and made them the equivalent of stimpacks, healing crippling wounds, etc...

Khajiit thought about Blood packs. In game, it looks like it provides 50 hp, so we originally intended to use them to heal up between naps and meals. It would be neat if it could satisfy the “dark cravings” though. The good thing about Cannibal in Survival is that after you eat a corpse, you don’t have to eat again for 12 in game hours. The only real downside is that regular food items no longer work for you, but there’s always somebody you can kill to chow down on between the random scavers and raiders, so who cares?
SubRosa
Loviatar is never at a loss for healing. So many happy meals just walking around everywhere...

Yesterday "Snake" Logan had the most difficult fight so far, far more difficult than deathclaws of the Glowing Sea - the sentry bot and two assaultrons at once attacked him as he was trying to leave the MF Reactor Chamber. He got "killed" in a few seconds, so upon reloading we were more careful and made sure that we didn't get attention of all of them at once, focusing only on the Sentry Bot first.

Nonetheless, he was a challenge to bring down, "Snake" was hiding behind stairs, moving left and right as the Sentry Bot was trying to hit him from above. Whenever he got the opportunity, "Snake" fired at him with Kellogg's gun and thanks to some critical hits the robotic beast finally went down.

Then came the assaultrons that attacked in pair. By mistake "Snake" shot one of them in a leg and that's when its weak spot was discovered - despite it wasn't destroyed, the assaultron was now slowed down and was crawling towards "Snake". He then repeated the procedure with the other assaultron and with both of them crawling against him he retreated and finished them off form a safe distance.

--

Though sentry bots were tough to destroy in previous games, in the Commonwealth they're from my experience the most difficult enemies.

Khajiit’s characters typically stay the f away from Sentry Bots whenever possible. They are devastating.
Kane
Sentry Bots and Assaultron Dominators are a nightmare.

But man do they make for one heck of a fight on Survival mode! devilsmile.gif
Lopov
Dominators, huh? So far we've encountered only regular ones, so I shudder at the thought of dominators.

A few minutes after my post above I played Fallout 4 and immediately came upon a Rust Devil accompanied by a nothing less but a Sentry Bot of course. Thanks to his relatively high Sneak skill and associated perks, Logan managed to critically hit the Sentry Bot, reducing his HP for about a half. Then we repeated the procedure from the MF Building - moving left and right behind a large rock while crouching, avoiding the furious robot's bullets. Occasionally Logan'd stand up and fire at him with Kellogg's gun. At some point the bot looked like it was setting on fire and that's when Logan destroyed it, because he got afraid that now he'll attack with flamer. Phew!

Speaking of Rust Devils, a few days ago Logan came upon a grup of 4-5 of them, accompanied by a Sentry Bot but for some reason the bot turned on them and finished them off but he was badly damaged after the fight was over so it wasn't difficult to destroy it. Not sure what had caused it to turn on devils unless it was a glitch or a random encounter.
SubRosa
In that last fight it may not have been a Sentry Bot, but a Tank Bot belonging to the Mechanist's Robot's faction. The Rust Devils and the Mechanist's robots slug it out a lot, and the Tank Bot of the Mechs looks a lot like a Sentry Bot.
Lopov
Could be, because I remembered that the group of Rust Devils was slowly walking towards the Bot, so I thought that they belong together and that the Bot stayed behind. But as they got close enough, he attacked them.
RaderOfTheLostArk
Got the Nuka-World expansion a few days ago. Mariah and Piper laid waste to the raider gangs of the park, and what a fight that was. Had to run around like crazy and take cover a lot. So many raiders and the named ones sure packed a punch. Now the traders are free. (Side note: initiating the fight with raiders counts as murders when you kill them. While I can understand why, considering what kind of people the raiders are I think that's garbage. Still, nothing that accessing the console couldn't fix).

Mariah and Piper are off to explore the rest of the park. I left off at Dry Rock Gulch, about to enter Mad Mulligan's Mine.

Also did the Automatron expansion last week and temporarily stopped going through the Vault-Tec expansion.
RaderOfTheLostArk
So...inexplicably when I entered the Nuka-World market in my play session yesterday, all of the previously enslaved traders were down to their underwear. I don't use mods so it can't be that. The same with freed traders around Nuka-Town. Then later on in an even more inexplicable occurrence, some but not all of those same traders put their clothes back on.

Am I the only who has had this happen?
Lopov
I haven't played Nuka World yet but in my game Cricket's guards were wearing nothing but their underwear on a few occasions. But as I later reentered the same cell, they were dressed again.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Yeah sounds like some buggy weirdness. Maybe try exiting the game and reloading a save game?

I have had the same problem. I checked their inventories with the console, and they have clothing and armor. They don't equip it for some reason. I don't know why.
Renee
Hey, maybe they're just interested in having an underwear party.
SubRosa
Btw Renee, Hecate was listening to a holotape at Wicked Shipping the other day, and the guy talking said that their new business partner was 'wicked schiesty'.
SubRosa
Another update for Fallout 4 dropped yesterday or the day before. I see updates for F4SE, LooksMenu, MCM, and Transfer Settlements are now out for it.
Renee
Wicked awesome. I like getting updates. I know some people don't.

And glad to see they've kept the MCM menu. That's another feature I really dig.

SubRosa
I modded Wildwood Cemetery into a fully fledged settlement for Persephone to live in. Normally it has a bunch of ghouls there. I set the Encounter Zone to start at level 1, so the they would be sure to be there and not spawn later. So naturally they were not there when recently started a new game with Persephone. Then after she was level 36 or so she returned home, and there was the ghoul horde!
Lopov
It's Christmas time in the Commonwealth of "Snake" Logan and since he just did some favors for the Finch family from the Finch Farm, they invited him to spend Christmas with them. Maybe he will put the rusty workshop to some use and decorate the farm a little as the family will be working in the field. After all Logan is probably the only man in the Commonwealth, ghouls excluded, who remembers Christmas.

In other news, Abigail Finch cleaned a pair of jeans from her late son Jake and gave it to Logan, the only problem was that she didn't have any shirt that would fit him. But anyway, a man who wears a powerful leaded combat chest piece, probably doesn't need a shirt.
Renee
Wow Lopov. Is that for real? Or RP?

Wait, I do remember Halloween was in Fallout 4. How amazing.

Lopov
Some places in the Commonwealth get actually decorated on Christmas and I also think on some other real-life holidays.

In my case it's a mix of RP and real-game events: after doing some favors for the family they allow you to use their workshop, but I RP-ed that they invited Logan to spend Christmas together.

Abigail's outfit is in fact mod-added, it's a pair of plain jeans without shirt.
mirocu
Nice to see you back patrolling the boards, Lopov! Makes me wish for a nuclear wi - Oh, wait. That's New Vegas tongue.gif
Lopov
Thanks 'rocu, good to see you too. smile.gif So what's Lothr- oops, wrong thread. cool.gif
SubRosa
Diamond City gets decorated for Halloween, and from what I read, Christmas as well.

When I feel up to, and I have too much time to kill, I'm going to write snippets from Vinnie's world.

---

The only sound that could be heard in Sanctuary Hills, were footsteps of the man, that was placed here as a part of the witness protection program. He arrived here 210 years ago yet Sanctuary Hills on that day looked completely different than now. Ruined houses, derelict cars, with big roaches and huge blowflies lurking among them.

“Sin embargo, la humanidad sobrevivió” the survivor of Sanctuary Hills, Vinnie “Slugger” Sinistra, said aloud, his voice of a heavy smoker echoing down the empty road. He was right – despite all, the humanity seemed to survive. A makeshift camp outside one of the houses, unlit candles in another one, and music coming from pre-war radios were good enough signs that the humanity survived.

However, it seemed to Vinnie Sinistra, that also insects survived. More than survived, they even mutated and grew to enormous sizes. Blowflies were now big and dangerous, and could pepper their targets with some disgusting goo-like matter. Not many things could scare Vinnie, but these disgusting flying creatures scared him to death. And who knows, what else awaits him in this deformed wasteland.

When shadows fell over Sanctuary Hills, Vinnie found a shelter in one of the houses, and the couch in this house served as his bed. He fell asleep, but his hands were tightly clasped around the 10mm pistol laying on his chest.
SubRosa
I think it is the rest of the wasteland that is going to need to fear the coming of Vinnie!
Renee
Yeah I agree. Within a month or so, those blowflies will be scared of HIM, not the other way around.

El Sluggo He sleeps with his gun. Siempre si, nada no.

Lopov
@SubRosa & Renee - many will fear Vinnie, that's true. Still, he's not Rattler-like evil, so he won't kill for pleasure or out of sheer boredom (I guess), but he won't hesitate to kill someone if "necessary" in his opinion, like if they'll witness his crimes / if they'll stand against him / etc. I'd say that if judging by DnD alignments, Rattler was Chaotic Evil, whereas Vinnie is Lawful evil.

Today's story features his first encounter with alive people, namely raiders.

---

“Hey, fatso! Eat this!”

Jim, loaded with drugs as every other day, threw a molotov cocktail in the direction of the fat man walking by the stream.

“Gotchaaaaaa!” he shouted as his target was set on fire. “Look at that boys! I hit that pregnant brahmin like a m...”

BANG! BANG BANG!

Jim could never finish the sentence because Vinnie “Slugger” Sinistra silenced him forever. Jim was the first alive human he met in the wasteland, and even he didn’t stay alive for very long.

“Jim’s dead, guys!” shouted one of the raiders, that were running down to see what was going on. “Kill the f*****!”

Four of them attacked at once, accompanied by the dog. Vinnie got a little rusty because of being frozen for so long, but not rusty enough to deal with a band of drug-addled raiders. He’d prefer to smash their heads with the tire iron he found a while ago, but there were too many of them and scattered all over the cliff, shooting at him from a distance.

After they were taken care of, Vinnie searched their belongings – he took some stimpaks, some ammo and some food. He didn’t know why each of them was carrying a few bottle caps.. Maybe they were collecting them out of fun?
SubRosa
"He's Dead Jim."

I love that Vinnie killed the first human he met. Though granted, it was not something that can be held against him. Even Hecate - my nicest Fallout character - would have done the same.

I recall this fight from the pics you posted yesterday. The Raider camp under the power lines west of Sanctuary. Killing them is pretty much a rite of passage for all starting characters!

I wonder what those bottle caps are for? Maybe the Raiders were very concerned about being friendly to the environment, and were saving them to deposit them at a recycling center? wink.gif
Renee
Yes indeed, why are they carrying bottle caps? Let's just discard those. They can't possibly have any value right? laugh.gif

My gosh, Vinnie's gonna be so pissed once he learns what caps are used for. blink.gif
Lopov
@SubRosa - Logan never ventured west of Sanctuary so I discovered this camp for the first time in Vinnie's game. Apparently there's a raider shack somewhere in the vicinity but we missed it. We found some lone trader living in a makeshift shack way to the east.

@Renee - fortunately he hasn't found so many bottle caps up until now, so when he found out what caps are for, he wasn't too angry. Just angry.

---

“Stop now, you thief! Stop now and give back what you stole from us!”

Blake Abernathy and his whole family would have still been alive if Blake hadn’t said these words aloud. Vinnie “Slugger” Sinistra thought that he’ll get away with taking some of their stuff from inside the farm, but with these words heard behind, the Abernathys sentenced themselves to death.

He came across their farm about an hour ago and Blake disliked him from the start. Not because Vinnie called his farm “pathetic”, but something in the man’s eyes made Blake hope, that he’ll leave soon and never return. He didn’t understand why the guy kept asking his daughter about bottle caps, but Lucy, friendly as always, was patiently explaining him that the paper money, which Vinnie showed her, didn’t play any important role anymore, now it was bottle caps, that counted as the main currency.

Afterwards Vinnie went inside the farm and stayed there for a while. Blake was getting suspicious about what he’s doing inside but he decided not to check on him, else his wife and daughter would once again scold him of being too distrustful of strangers. But when he saw the stranger coming out and noticed some of their family belongings stuffed inside his bag, Blake went nuts.

“Should have stayed there and picked your ‘tato, idiota!” A few minutes later only three beings were left alive on the Abernathy farm – the brahmin, the cat and Vinnie “Slugger” Sinistra.
Renee
Aw. sad.gif Well at least the animals didn't get hurt.

I wonder if this is the same farm Victoria (Khajiit's character from two summers ago) stopped at. Anyway, looking forward to more from the Slugger.
SubRosa
There is a Raider and his dog in a small shack directly north of Sanctuary. If you go across the little footbridge that you followed to get to the Vault in the opening of the game, turn right at the river instead of going left to the Vault. Follow the river east, and you will come across some bloatflies, then the raider in the shack. Later there is a pack of dogs, and beyond that a scavenger practicing their shooting on some bottles. Finally there is a nest of Mirelurks right before the junkyard with the Sentry Bot.

It would be cool if the cat was possessed by the angry ghosts of the Abernathys, turned into a giant supernatural horror beast, and hunted Vinnie down through the Commonwealth...
Lopov
@Renee - I think Victoria also stopped at Abernathys, yes.

@SubRosa - looks like I've still got lots of exploring to do north of Sanctuary.

Possessed cat? Maybe in some TES game. whitewizardsmile.gif

---

“You talk like a jerk but you clearly know what you’re doing. You did a great job clearing out those raiders. And even the deathclaw! I’m glad we’re on the same side.”

Saying these words, Preston Garvey was hoping that he was right and that Vinnie, the man who just cleared Concord of hostiles while wielding a minigun and wearing power armor, won’t spin the minigun and empty it out of its few remaining bullets right into him.

“I’m on my own side.” Vinnie wanted to add the word “negro” at the end of the sentence but changed his mind. Instead he put the minigun down and stepped out of power armor.

“If you ever change your mind, we could use someone like you…someone who can get things done. Seek me out in Sanctuary, if you…as I said – if you change your mind. Bye.”

“Hasta luego!” Vinnie lit a cigarette and watched Minutemen leave the Museum of Freedom. He was getting better and better in surviving in the post-apocalyptic world. He had some more encounters with raiders outside Concord and ran into a nasty pack of mole rats, but nothing could compare to the showdown in Concord. The irradiated lizard would be tough to bring down if not for the minigun, though. The only real problems Vinnie had, were his slow reflexes and his big belly. It was hard to turn around quickly, especially if animals were biting him from every possible angle, and his belly was often in the way. But Vinnie knew that’s going to remain a problem, because he liked to eat, eat a lot. And drink too. Not to mention how much he liked to smoke. Maybe many starve in the wasteland, but Vinnie already gained a few pounds since unfreezing. He dropped the burnt out cigarette and lit another one.
SubRosa
Only Vinnie could gain weight after an apocalypse! Preston and gang were lucky to escape from an encounter with him alive. That does not seem to happen much. At least he has not eaten any people. Yet...
Renee
He talks like a crime boss, that's for sure. In my mind, he sounds like a Cuban version of The Godfather (raspy voice).

Wonder what that liazard is supposed to be? Oh wait...

That would be Tony Montana (Scarface).
Lopov
@SubRosa - Vinnie likes to eat good, so he's not into cannibalism. Preston and his gang didn't give him a reason to be killed, so he didn't kill them. Who says Vinnie's not a man of reasons?

@Renee - Vinnie reminds me of some Mexican actor, but I can't recall his name now. He usually plays in action movies, always plays a villain, and one of his eyes is deformed. I'll remember his name sooner or later.

---

Before the war it took years for Vinnie to reach the top and become the leader of the Cuban criminal underground, but it looks like that after the war, things work differently. Having survived deadly traps of the Gauntlet, Vinnie "Slugger" Sinistra killed Overboss Colter, the leader of Nuka-World raiders, in a duel, and was immediately proclaimed as the new Overboss.

Raiders of Nuka-World had mixed feelings about their new leader. Some of them thought that he's too old for such a position, others thought that he's not appropriate, because he lacks a proper raider attitude. All of them agreed, however, that his outfit is the funniest thing on him - who walks around the wastes wearing a white shart and striped pants? Nonetheless, they were so displeased with Colter, that they were willing to give the new Overboss a chance.

Vinnie Sinistra himself had mixed feelings about his new role. These raiders weren't of the same type as his goons before the war, and some of them, especially the Disciples, were outright brutal. He knew it won't be easy to lead this bunch of wild wolves, and was very well aware, that despite being proclaimed the Overboss, he must in fact prove his worth to raiders. He couldn't leave the place, because the only exit from the Commonwealth was controled by raiders, so Vinnie was in fact trapped in Nuka-World. He knew that if he won't be able to give raiders what they want, he'll end up like Colter, so he better be good at what he does.
