Is there a console command to make just one location on the map visible? I don't mean tmm, but just to add one undiscovered place?

I have never found one. What you can do is look up where you want go in the UESP Wiki, and then use the COC console command to teleport there.

Plus the extra merchants really help with unloading all that good Dragonborn loot.

I can't tell you how many merchants I've added into Vyvoor's game, and potentially other games which follow. Especially in the smaller villages like Morthal, where they only have an alchemist but not a general trader or a smith? blink.gif Come on, now. Let's change that.

The same here. Years ago I created a General Stores mod that put a general store in every town or city that lacked one, along with all the crafting stations. So Ivarstead, Shor's Stone, Karthwasten, Rorikstead, and so on.

Playing through Skyrim SE with Lady Cora, I've got a couple of new mods which I really enjoy.

For player homes, Skyfall Estate is a nice big estate near Whiterun (across from Honningbrew Meadery, which is good for my followers). You can build it room by room much like Hearthfire. It does have a few extras that I'm not crazy about (all those damn mannequins - I just don't build them). One thing I'm not crazy about is that when you buy the estate, it puts the entire house up. You don't get to build it wing by wing like you do the Hearthfire homes. I always liked that bit, since I can just leave them as one room homes and build around it (garden, animal pen and stable), and leave the other wings for later. Still, you have to furnish the interior, and it all takes in game time, so if you are playing with a Needs mod, you need to make sure you break for food & sleep.

Another mod by the same author is Blackthorn, which I actually like better. It's a town you build where that southern road to Riften makes a horseshoe bend. You come across a little trading post, and ruined/burned out buildings. Talk to the trader, and you can start rebuilding the town, one building at a time. I like it better because it's more immersive, though it still puts up an entire building and then you spend in game time again to furnish each building. However, I save the manor home for last, as I role-play that it's important to get the town up and running on its own first. After each building is done, you can collect rent/income from each aspect of the town - trader, farm, mine, smithy, inn, bookstore, alchemist, and pelt shop. And there's a grounds keeper and a "citizen" that pays rent to live there. I think it fits more with Lady Cora's backstory as a lady of a holding. My only real peeve is that it is all the way east in the Rift, rather than more central like Skyfall.

I remember being annoyed by "Stupid dog" comments from my followers whenever I had Meeko or Vigilance running with us. They're good dogs! Meeko may be a bit silly, but he doesn't run from a fight! So I was happy to find two mods that work very well together: Smart No More Stupid Dog Comments and Immersive Good Boy - Dog Companion Praise. Now I can tell them who's a good boi! Especially when they look at me the way they do . . . And better yet, all my followers tell them "Good Boy!" which only makes for a better atmosphere at home.

A new mod which has rapidly become my favorite is A Cat's Life. OMG is this mod everything I've always wanted in Skyrim! Not only does it add cats to all the settlements, it also adds two stores where you can buy cat supplies and even cats, and it adds interactive strays that you can feed, gain trust, pet and adopt. Once purchased/adopted, they will follow you (at their own speed, of course, but they will catch up to you eventually). They don't fight, which is a good thing because they are protected, but not immortal. They will survive attacks from hostile creatures/NPC's, but not accidental hits from you. Still, when things get a little crazy, I like that they run off a bit, and come back when combat is over. I've adopted three so far, and am working on a few others. The mod keeps track of the strays you've found, their disposition towards you, and which ones you've adopted, renamed, and which ones are currently following you. I've found myself stopping every so often (especially after cantering my horse along the road) to let them catch up, and whenever we encounter a hostile creature on the road I call them and pet them to make sure they're okay. I"m on my way to the Crazy Cat Lady title, as well - just one more cat to adopt!
SubRosa
OOps, your Blackthron link was eaten by a slaughterfish. ohmy.gif

The cats mod looks like fun. One of the things I like about Fallout 4 is that you can get cats for your settlements.

How in the world did that happen?? Fixed!
Renee
Sounds very cool. A town we can build. See, this is why I'll never finish the Main Quest! I keep getting distracted.
macole
Thanks haute ecole rider. Blackthorn does look interesting. Been thinking of starting a new Skyrim game. Right now I'm mod collecting and Blackthorn looks like it would be a good fit. But, there are a couple things yet to do in Oblivion.
SubRosa
I found Sparrowhawk Armor and Sparrowhawk Dark Armor today. I think I am going to give the dark version a try for January. The original is just too colorful for a Crow like her.

I also discovered Glowing Ebony Armor, which adds some neat glowing color to ebony armor.
haute ecole rider
I do like the sparrowhawk armor - both versions. However for my Lady Cora, the skirt's a little too short. It's the same problem she has with the Ranger armor, so for now she'll pass.

Still looking for light armor that looks more like clothing - but I suppose that would mean a visit to the CK for me.

Hey can anyone here recommend a survival mode-ish mod? I’m currently running Frostfall but it doesn’t seem to do anything but add cold weather considerations.

Yes. Frostfall does the hypothermia stuff really well, but not needs.

For that I use Realistic Needs and Diseases. Like Frostfall, RND is fully customizable via the MCM Menu. That link goes to the basic Skyrim version, but I think there's an SE version too, just in case you use that.

Awesome Renee, thank you! I did notice that there is an official BGS survival mode on Creation Club, but, lol, I’m not paying for mods.

Gosh, that makes me wonder if the paid version is supposed to be better!

I usually customize Frostfall so that it's pretty light if I'm playing a Nord. But my warm-weather Imperial from Cyrodiil, she almost did freeze to death one time. Fortunately I have the one setting toggled... basically if she's traveling with a group of others (and she almost always does) it revives the character to the nearest campfire.

Have you ever had a character freeze to death, Khajiit? indifferent.gif

No, this is actually the first time I’m playing with this mechanic. It seems interesting though! I currently have Frostfall set to the default setting which seems to be about a medium difficulty. We’ll see how it goes!

Yes, it will not be easy. nono.gif indifferent.gif If you're playing a furry Khajiit though, I wonder if all that fur + clothes would provide a good natural barrier.

I think Frostfall has a Lite setting, and I use this. Even with Lite, I find I still have to notch those settings down even further. Basically, for most of my characters to freeze to death they'd have to spend a lot of time outdoors, like all day and all night in the coldest parts of Skyrim, and without proper clothes / armor covering up most of their skin. They'd have to be lost in wilderness somewhere, with no shelter to take cover within or fires to warm themselves by. It doesn't make sense to me that somebody can nearly freeze to death if they're walking from Dragon Bridge to Solitude for instance, which is what default settings did the first time I tried FF.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Hmmm, my MCM is acting up and I don’t think Realistic Needs and Diseases is even working. I wonder if there is an issue with my version of SKSE64...

Oh no no, I got RN&D from the SE version pages, so we are good there. Actually, and I feel foolish for this, but I was yesterday years old when I discovered that Vortex installs the script extender for you. I installed it manually and was trying to use that executable when all I really had to do was launch the game using Vortex! Everything seems to be working now. I started a new test Brenna and had her travel from Four Skull Lookout bandit camp in the northern Reach area to Dragonbridge. She got very cold and had to stop at a Stormcloak camp along the way to warm up and dry off. She was suffering from severe frostbite by the time she got to Dragonbridge, and the tavern there was very welcoming. She had a nice meal by the fire and a great night’s rest in a nice warm bed. The next day, Brenna had a breakfast of two boiled eggs and some apples before leaving to go to Solitude. Upon arriving at Solitude, it was time for Khajiit to get ready for work so I ended the test there and deleted the save. I’m going to have to tweak some of the settings. I think I am going to tweak the rate of exposure down a bit, because it just seemed too aggressive. I mean, Brenna was wearing head to toe fur armor and got frost bit fairly quickly in the mild Reach climate. Meanwhile, the Forsworn ladies are strolling around like Raquel Welch in 1,000,000 Years B.C. with no adverse effects. laugh.gif

Ha ha I told you! I don't know what Chesko (mod author) was thinking with the mod on its default setting. unsure.gif I mean, if we consider that bandits can stay outdoors for hours wearing next-to-nothing furs, that's another reason why I think Frostfall is too aggressive.

Well glad you got it figured now. I was wondering what Vortex is supposed to be...

To me, modding in general is a bit of a vortex. I spend so much time testing mods for a game that I can’t really get into an actual playthrough before my interest shifts to another game. Round and round I go. Curse this ADD!
Infa Red

Organic Factions

I like this one a lot. It added a much needed dynamic to Factions. I felt like the fact they only progressed/changed when I made them do so/joined and participated was very unrealistic and immersion breaking.

This mod opens them up to feel much more organic and alive.

No, no, you've got it backwards. Modding IS the game! There is some kind of rumor going around that making a character and doing quests is "playing the game", but those of us who open Bethesda's editors before we even start our first character know that this is not the case. We know the real truth: we know that Construction Sets and Creation Kits are the only true games Bethesda has ever released. biggrin.gif

Does anyone here play with a “class” mod? I’m thinking about getting one.
Renee
QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Sep 15 2021, 09:20 AM) *

Hmm, let me think.

I do have Character Creation Overhaul. I don't remember exactly how it sets classes up, but it does include Classes, Starsigns, more comprehensive racial stats, and so on.

There is also Third Era Attributes, which a few of us got excited about a few years back, but it's really buggy. Don't use that. nono.gif

ghastley
It’s not really worth having a mod for it. A class is typically a set of restrictions, whether they are “this class can’t …” or “only this class can …”, so you can just limit your character without a mod doing it.
Lena Wolf
Yeah, I was disappointed with such mods available for PS4 (which is where I play Skyrim), so I made my own, just for my character. It's a lot of work to make a generic one!

It's more than just restrictions though - I tried to replicate Oblivion mechanics with some skills increasing quicker than others, depending on your class - major skills, minor skills, attributes, that sort of thing. It worked out quite well, but I only did it for the one class I was interested in - a battlemage/assassin cross. biggrin.gif
Renee
I don't really see classes as restrictions, I see them more as definitions. I like defining who and what my character is, right out of the box. Skyrim just doesn't give me enough, up front. smile.gif The perk system is great for defining who our characters are to become, but I want to see more background. Some characters start off stronger, others smarter, others more crafty, and so on.

Edit: Now if we're talking about the way TES 1: Arena structures classes (for instance, a Warrior cannot cast any spells for instance), or the way Elder Scrolls Online or World of Warcraft approach this, then I agree classes can be very limiting. But the way Beth's earlier single player games allow us fixed classes, or (my favorite) making our own class is what I am talking about.

Yes, I used that one on PS4 (the original version). My problem was it didn't have the class that I wanted, but it's Ok if you want to stick to one of the official classes. The mod I made for myself was based on these ideas, just for a different class.

What I was wanting to do for a particular character I’m working on was make a sort of stealthy “shadow cleric”, or basically just a tweaked Nightblade class. I used the custom class creator and it seems to work pretty good for my purposes.

By reinstalling Skyrim and setting up my mod list from 2019 I came upon an .esp that I stored, its name is REP_Tattoos.esp. Unfortunately I forgot to copy the associated textures & meshes before the disk crash and now I don't know under what name is this mod published on the Nexus, so obviously tattoos don't work in game. I went through my entire d/l history but didn't find anything that'd match. Any ideas?

EDIT:
Found it but it was deleted from the Nexus, so now I d/l-ed it from another site. The full name is Immersive Warpaints and Tattoos.

The best headtracking mod ever. It exists for Oldrim as well.

I had a thought while reading one of Lena's stories, in which Lena Wolf and Hauk pass by the area where hot springs & steam can be seen bubbling out of the ground. This area would be perfect for geysers to occasionally spout high into the air. I can see some master modder out there using some sort of magical effect to create something like this!

Unfortunately, could not find anything like this at Nexus. sad.gif This is the best I could do. The boiling water causes damage to our characters. unsure.gif Nah for me, but maybe somebody else is interested.

And [Edit] thanks for the head-tracking mod Lopov. Oh, I realised it right from the start. Everyone is talking to you but you are just staring into space. This has been one of the greatest turn-offs for me w.r.t. Skyrim. But seeing how I still cannot play Skyrim on PC, it still remains a turn-off. Not sure if there's such a mod for PS4, too.
