Yes, pickled pig's foot in a jar - my hubby and his Mexican friend he'd been out partying with brought me one once in order to get him off the "hoof" or we should say hook, for being so late missing his dinner. Way after midnight they come home and make me this grand presentation of the pickled pig foot in a jar.
I was so grossed out - I didn't yell at him for being late at all. I know the polite thing to do would be to sample the "treat" but I just put it on the shelf pretending I thought it was an ornament and went to bed.
Rather clever of them I think still.

I know out in Newfoundland (a Canadian province) they have some odd delicatecies. Primarily because the province is basically made up of fishing towns, they have something called cod tongue. Basically it's the cod fish's tongue.
I remember when we spent a week vacation there and we were threatened that we would have to eat cod tongue if we misbehaved. And behaved we did.
Ah, that was a good trip though, Newfoundland is beautiful in the summer. I loved the appalachian mountains. There was even a little hiking spot to a small waterfall near our resort.

The textured (yea right) soy protein, mince, tuna, cheese and tofu omelette has to be up there. Does wonders for bulking up though.
As for the very worst... sphagetti hoops in brine with chocolate sauce were fairly dire.
Drinkwise - baileys and bitters and white cider is appaling.
Rick - change the cheese for real cheese and that would be fine by me... I assume by American cheese you mean those processed slices or that yellow ick which comes in a tin?

If you didn't like the mussel part, they probably weren't prepared right. Well prepared mussels are succulent and sweet, badly prepared, and they tend to be bitter.
The only cheese that tastes terrible in this world is that fake imitation stuff you find in the budget dairy aisle in the supermarket.

It did not end very pretty, though the actual mussel wasn't bad. It was mainly a cottage cheese/texture issue
