I...I've given up.... kvleft.gif i don't think it was the right timing for me....if I only could throw in Serene..but that wouldn't be right..... sad.gif sad.gif
It's OK. There's always next year. smile.gif Have some cake: cake.gif

Don't delete what you wrote. That could always be re-used and popped into some other future story (in some unexpected way).

jack: your "techno babble" was actually making sense, though hair as a heat radiator ... well, that might work but it would be silly. biggrin.gif I've read some short stories that deal with heat produced by nano-machine implants, so that concept is also reasonable.

What do you mean "end of the week"?

to all: remember, November only has 30 days ... not 31 ... lest you miss the deadline nono.gif

Maybe the hair is silly, but I wouldn't want to ruin her skin. Oh wait, I did. She's suffering from constant skin irritation. tongue.gif

Err, I meant end of the month. Oops.

Gah: it's been like pulling teeth, like kicking whales up the beach, like nailling jello to a tree, to get the last few days of writing done. Today I said, "no way." Since my word count is ahead, I took today (day 12) off. Ahhh ... relief city. The book says it's OK to do this once in a while, and I am so burnt out. I was about at the point where I was going to have a meteor just smash into my stupid characters and everyone around them and end the stupid story. mad.gif

Lord Revan

ohmy.gif Wow, you have been pushed to the limit. Although the part about the meteor game had me lol, enjoy you're break, I'll be trying NaNoWriMo next year..... if I don't have a lot of other things to worry about, or Revan. biggrin.gif

You know, I no longer care. I like the setting I have, but I don't give a damn about the timelimit. Quality doesn't come from pumping out words like a triple-barrelled-triple-gatling. (That's nine barrels) I can make the fifty, if I'm willing to sacrifice my sanity and my story. And I'm not willing to do that.

So I'll just see how far I get, but I'm not going to aim for the fifty k at all. I'm aiming for a non-crap story now.

It took me a while to figure this out, but I now realize I don't respond well to being pressured into my hobbies. I like writing. I once loved Badminton, but since I got pushed into it, I came to hate it and have since then quit it a long time ago. I don't want to lose writing to the same thing.

With the quality of your writing, and the fact that you already have the ability to create original plots, I guess the nano thing isn't important or necessary for you.

As for me ... I've never been able to create a plot. I've read so many things on making plots. I've been told many things about How It Is Done ... but i can't seem to do it. This situation is no longer acceptable to me, so I am using the nano thing to force myself to somehow break though and create an original plot.

Yesterdays break was a good thing. Today's writing was still a battle, but not nearly as bad as the few days before that were. Some of the characters are beginning to finally develop some personality ... though still not as much as Rashelle and her friends. Oh, and don't wrory about Rashelle. I've actually had another Rashelle story in progress since back when I wrote Rashelle At Lokken. Also, when taking a break from the nano story I had an idea (not a full plot, just a ... starting point) for another story! Rashelle is so fun to write. You will eventually be seeing more of her. wink.gif

I've got 26334 words now: passed the halfway point! Woo woo! biggrin.gif Yes, it's crap, but hey, it's original crap ... and there will be editing after November.

up to 29167 words, and something is beginning to happen. Some of characters are beginning to come alive. They're starting to write their own dialog. They are talking more. Final-freaken-lee!

Errrrr, I am the only chorrol-peep still writing their nano? sad.gif

Oh how I wish I had the time to participate! I'm just so willing to write but ......It's impossible, Maybe I will find the time to at l;east update Serene... sad.gif

Hey minque! How go things over there on your project? smile.gif Yes, more Serene please?

Today I took another day off from nano. I just couldn't stand to work on that stupid story any more. Instead of writing tonight, I played MW. Rashelle and Laurenna wandered around Lokken in the snow.

Well done, you're past the awful part. Soon the desire upon waking up to contemplate pulling out nasal hairs with pliers, rather than write, will seem like a distant memory.

Erm... and I'm still going on mine, for the third year in a row. Not the same one obviously. 19,000 words so far and my nasal passages have never been so hair free wink.gif

hey burntsierra, nice to see there are still survivors of this nano thing. biggrin.gif

Anyway, you all know the game 20 questions. You think of something and someone asks you twenty questions ("is it red?") in order that they can figure out what it is that you thought of.

Imagine a variation of the game. You have no idea in your mind. Someone starts asking you questions. You answer them randomly, with one constraint, they can not contradict each other.

This last is how my nano fiction has been going: utter and complete winging it with no plot, no idea. Well: yesterday I finally took a stock cliche as a plot skeleton. Now, instead of randomly throwing bandit attacks, raider attacks, a dungeon crawl etc., I'm now having events follow this plot. The writing is now much less difficult. Instead of "OMG NOW WHAT?" it's "OK, next they need to do this, now how to ... of course ..." (write write write).

The story is still lame, but it is at least a STORY now.

36000 words now, 36002 according to the nano validator.

Bam! 51210 words, and my story is done. The world is saved the hero gets the girl, an evil mage is reformed, etc. etc.
