I was thinking...about Rahvin and Bree and the dear vamp.....Why not let them run into some reeeeally nasty weather or even something else quite treeible? Should make things a bit more exciting for them.....
Lord Revan
Feb 17 2007, 09:04 PM
what like a complete "white-out" blizzard? I've just rented a game called "Lost Planet." It's set on an ice world, and you have to find thermal energy (collected from your fallen enemies) to keep yourself from freezing to death.
I think that is a very practical explanation for the aliens you have to fight..... and the other humans as well.
minque
Feb 17 2007, 09:07 PM
Yeah...something like that! So they really have to use all their abilities and skills just to stay alive!
lord_wanhoop
Feb 17 2007, 09:10 PM
You call it thermal energy, I call it ripping out their hot entrails and wrapping yourself in them.
minque
Feb 17 2007, 09:12 PM
Brrr..yup, let them wrap themselves in whatever.....still I kinda like severe weather-situations....

it adds something I think...

Be even more interesting if, should Merethicus and Root continue along the 'let's-get-the-b'vek-out-of-here' line of thinking, they emerge from the caverns in the same area. Or not?
And yes I have. The middle one is always the best in any trilogy.

Lord Revan
Feb 17 2007, 09:32 PM
No, MM, I'm talking about a video game I just rented. Lost Planet is a CapCom game for the X-box 360. You play as a soldier who was left to die on the planet E.D...... (something) III. You're rescued by a small band of snow pirates, and you have no memory beside the "Green Eye" the Akrid that killed your father.
The Akrid are a species of insectoid creatures native to the planet that have been hostile with the colonization since they were first discovered. Akrid rely on thermal energy (let's just say a huge amount) to survive when they leave their hives.
Humans also rely on thermal energy for the same reasons they wear heat generators power by the thermal energy. Anything that is outside without thermal energy is going toi freeze over in minutes (not actually sure how long it takes).

There's multiple lords out here, Revan.
Lord Revan
Feb 17 2007, 10:39 PM
Ah, I just looked at the last few posts anbd realized that. But in this case thermal energy is used to power vehicles....... you can't do that with tuantuan entrails

Hmm, the battle is paused till Karn gets updated. I hope the fight gets finished soon. The sooner Flint gets back to our resident healer, the sooner he can get his broken arm fixed.
I also hope that the rp moves forward a few days. At least long enough for Semir to get to Cyrodiil with his band of treasure hunters.
About Green-Root and Merethicus, I hope they'll leave after their conversation and the Argonian's meal.
About Thermal energy and Lost Planet, I've heard about the game and saw a trailer. Looks nice and all (giant robots always manage to get my approval.) but there's one storyline flaw I would like to get cleared up. If you need to kill big bugs because they're the only ones that can harvest this hot item (pun intended) which you need to prevent freezing, then why did you come to the damn planet in the first place? It doesn't make sense to me. You managed to cross lightyears once, then do it again and go to a tropical paradise.
Lord Revan
Feb 18 2007, 02:30 AM
Okay, Jacky, allow me to explain. Humans abandoned Earth eighty years before the colonization of the planet. At first the colonization seemed like a success, but then we encountered teh Akrid. The Akrid are a species of insectoid lifeforms, that were immediately identified as hostile threats.
The Akrid's viscous attacks were too much for the colonists and the military....... as the world was evacuated, we discovered that all species of Akrid stored thermal energy (which was a power energy source). With this discovery, we had a reason to fight the Akrid...... but still lacked powerful enough weapons to do so.
Thus the VS (Vital Suit) was created, they are the "giant robots." With the VS to combat the larger species of Akrid colonization resumed........ that was 25 years ago. Now as a young soldier, Wayne, you must fight other snow pirates and Akrid.
This all begins with a battle inside a giant dome, you and your father are among the VS pilots accompanying the normal footsoldiers...... but no plan survives contact with the enemy. You encounter a green eye, a collosal Akrid that is feared by all humanity.
In the insueing fighting, Gale, Wayne's father dies protecting him. A group of snow pirates find Wayne, frozen in his VS. Wayne is plagued by amnesia, only remembering how to pilota VS, use firearms, and the green eye that killed his father.
That pretty much sums it up; most of humanity no longer lives on the planet, only snow pirates (the people who didn't make it of in the evacuation). That enough?

The snowfilled mountain path wasn't Moria. Moria was that Dwarven city (conveniently being huge despite never having that much of a population) under the mountains. It was filled with Orcs and a Balrog. Actually, I don't know why they turned around and headed into Moria. I remember something about the mountains themselves opposing them. Ah well, have fun in the snow.

Ooh, I know! In the movies, Saruman called down snow and assorted byproducts to block the mountain passes and generally cause hypothermia. So they decided to go through the mines of Moria which Gimli knew were nearby and thought were still being run by Balin, despite the latter having not sent any christmas cards for the last fifty years or so.

I believe it was porphyric homilia or something. I'll check the Uesp, please wait.............*traditional waiting music plays*.............*followed by some hardcore rock*..............Thank you for waiting.
The answer is: Porphyric Hemophilia, so I was quite close. However, the Uesp says that it is the name of the spell effect that gives you the initial stages of vampirism rather than vampirism itself. In other words, this puts you on the waiting list before you truly become a vampire which means it is that disease you can cure within three days after catching it. Still, I suppose it's better than nothing.

Feb 25 2007, 10:33 AM
Werewolves, though I don't really understand why. Different feeding habits (tasty neck vs whatever animal happens to be in the dog's path)
Different living habits. (I don't see a werewolf sit in a comfortable chair and reading a few books on Necromancy or whatever.)
In short, they're not rivals unless there's some sort of pride issue involved. There are exceptions to the rule of course. A Werewolf with exceptional strenght of will might be able to control himself enough and he might go live in an abandoned castle, raising cattle for his needs and reading books on Necromancy. You're average weakminded one though, absolutely not.
Lord Revan
Feb 25 2007, 07:00 PM
well, I haven't ever seen a movie with werewolves and vampire tearing at each other's throats (Underworld: Revolutions or something like that). But both monsters like to target normal humans as easy prey, werewolves are mostly animalistic and maybe hating vampires is an instinct......
Anyway, how does everyone feel about a small pack of werewolves comming after them?
