*sigh* I remember when being 6 feet was considered tall, but now I'm surrounded by people around my height. So I guess I'm at an average height for an 18 year old.

I am tall, compared to most adults running around at school. Compared to your average child, I'm a bit short. 1,70 metres at 16 years old. I don't seem to be growing any further. Ah well, at least I don't bump my head against the doorframe.

Actually the official average is several inches under six feet for American males at least. I'm five-nine.
I still have several years to grow yet though, and I'll probably be able to hit six feet before i stop.

Well, one foot equals 30.48 cm, and one inch is 2.54 cm. So you'd be approximately 5'7".
My own growth seems to have come to a complete halt now, with me having reached a height of 185 cm / about 6'1". I've been around that height for the last five years now, so I'd say it's highly unlikely that I'll become any taller.

Minque is 3 inches taller than me - I am only 5'4" which I think is considered short for a female nowadays.
I used to model junior-petite fashions for young teens when I was in my twenties - so yes, I am short. Gotta just accept it. I would rather be taller. My hubby is 5'11 1/2" and I think there are many advantages to being taller.
I can also see that there are advantages to using the metric system, it seems simpler than feet and inches ... but unfortunately, I don't know metric at all. I guess I could learn it.
The Metal Mallet
Oct 8 2006, 12:14 AM
Even though at school we use the metric system all the time, I still can't picture people height and people weight/mass in metric. Like a centimetre is so small, and then a metre is big, and then no one uses decimetres so it's hard to see metric measurements on people. A foot just seems like a suitable length, though conversion-wise, Imperial is terrible to work with.
As for grams vs pounds (lbs), it's a little easier since I know that 44lbs is about 20kgs. I know that because the bags of salt I sell have both measurements

22 years old, 6 feet tall. In athletics I play bigger, even though I'm not much of a leaper, because I've got an armspan of probably 6'3'' or 6'4''.
Being relatively tall has advantages and drawbacks. Having long arms is almost exclusively useful. My fellow rock climbers get jealous.

That's because y'all is a common colloquialism while the correct spelling is beggar.
On topic: I'm still kind of tall. But hey, at least the shorter folks don't have to worry about banging their heads on light fixtures. My grandmother's old place had a couple of low fixtures that my dad and I had to constantly duck.

Not if all the height is in the leg.
It makes it damn tiring to run, becasue it takes a lot of energy to move them then.

Ugh, I'm not tall at all. I DREAM of being six feet. ...Actually, I dream of being *five* feet. I'm 4'10. Which is occasionally nice, but usually sucks. Especially when I need to reach things on top shelves.
On the upside...being 4'10 legally qualifies me as a 'Dwarf.' Sadly, no cool set of Dweemer armour goes along with that designation *sigh*

Well most girls don't like shorter guys then them.. Its proven.. Cause when I was a little kid and right before my growth spurt (and puberty too) all the girls were getting that cool stuff first and the little girlfriend I had back then told me that I was to short for her...

Disadvantage to tallness: Back problems. Taller folks are more susceptible to them. You younger tall people: do what you can to strengthen your back muscles, before bad stuff happens. Trust me. I couldn't play golf for about 2-3 weeks once because of a back injury--at age 20. It was terrible. I'd sit down for a while, then have the damnedest time standing back up.

not so much be shorter than to be more bodily proportionate.
Rainer's legs are most of his height, and as such, it makes it at pain in the boat to find pants that suit you.
Another problem Rainer has is that he cannot swim. His legs are so long it takes more energy just to move them. So Rainer can barely move 3 meters before he starts to tire. And when He tries to float, they just drag him down like an anchor.
and when you're in the middle Isle on a 16 hour flight, the only thing that goes to sleep is Rainer's legs.
Rainer is also slower than some people with shorter legs beacuse his are so long (again with the size issue)
And in places with low roofs...
You get the picture.

I'm about 184 cm tall, I believe that is somewhere in the area between 6.2 feet and 6.3 feet right? Well, 6.3 sounds better than 6.2 so I'll stick with that. Since I'm 15 years old at the moment, I'm sure I'll keep growing until I'm 18.

I seem to have stopped growing, now sticking at 1.62 metres. It's taller than a lot of people from the older generation I know, but a heck of a lot shorter than the latest generation. I have a cousin who's 2.5 years younger (15), and he sticks out above me like a fricking giant! Ok, just about a head taller, no need to exaggerate.
