That would be "Póg mo thón" smile.gif
As for other examples....take stoo much effort to write them, what with transferring to word in order to add the fadas to any letters that need them

QUOTE(Foster @ May 26 2006, 07:57 PM)
It's completely different. At least in my experience of it. The only Irish word I know sounds like (god knows how it's spelt) pog-ma-hone, which is just their way of asking you to kiss their british boat.

Why would somebody want to kiss a boat ?tongue.gif

Wooah, so would you and Foster understand each other if you meat?

LOL laugh.gif
I had no idea they are so different. I thought there are only slight diffrences.
Do you have a funny accent?
Wolfie
Lol not to my knowledge, but you might think differently lol. I've been told my accent, or whatever accent there is, is pretty cool though lol. And it wouldn't be the kind of accent that makes my english sound weird, because i've been speaking english since i learned to talk, it's my first language. despite being my native tongue, it's Irish that i have to learn in school and amn't even close to being fluent in...damned penal laws...
Olav
Well I love the accent of Bono, you sound anything like him? tongue.gif
Wolfie
I have no idea, haven't heard Bono speak in a while tongue.gif
Probably wouldn't though, since many years of smoking adds an odd quality to his voice lol
Olav
laugh.gif Yeah I remember watching some awards ceremony on tv. Bono was 'caught' smoking while he was preparing to enter the stage... Still I think U2 is the best band ever, and Bono is certainly making up for his 'mistakes' now that he is so involved in world politics/environmental issues... The combination Bono/Bob Geldof is explosive, and I hope they'll both receive the Nobel peace prize some time...
Red
Ohh, that Irish. Here we call that old Irish.

I personally despise Bono. I never really liked his music and even though hes been politically active for years, his politically based album "how to dismantle an atomic bomb" seemed tacked on to me (as in "I don't know what we could write the new album about. Oh! I know! We'll just write a political album! Easy as that!") and in my opinion was terrible.

Also, talking about reducing air emmisions and stopping polution seems a little redundant coming from a man who owns a personal jet.

I came up with a really interesting mathamatical theory today;

:Let F=fun. :Let P= pain. Outside+ Dodgeball+ 40 people- any form of protection= F(+ P)
Foster
I've never tried dodgeball. I mean, I've thrown random objects at people with the design of causing them pain/serious injury and considered it a sport, but I've never actually played an offical game.

What do they use for dodgeballs? I hope it's high on the 'ouch' scale of balls:

Ping Pong - Tennis - Foot (Modern) - Golf - Foot (Old) - Base - Basket - Cricket

How about a medecine ball? kvright.gif
Dantrag
I think golfball goes above basketball football and baseball....
Foster
Nah, the pain might be slightly more acute, but you've got to take area of effect into account.

Of course, all of them depend where you get hit. A tennis ball in the nuts beats a cricket ball to the thigh (though not to the shin).

Slightly? Compare someone throwing a basketball in your face to someone throwing a golfball at your face.

A besketball's not all that bad. (Been pegged numerous times)

I think the learning of Irish in school is great! That is a beautiful language .. seems very soft and lyrical to listen to. We've got some Celtic music, I've really not much idea of what they're singing (until you read the album cover translations) ... but they are wonderful for love making. tee hee hee
(These are the lyrical ones, not the jig type ... a bit too energetic there I'd imagine.)

Now I've managed to embarrass myself. embarrased.gif
Intestinal Chaos
Well, I guess it's update time.

Me and Amanda broke up, but I guess that's for the best. Still we're going to get an apartment all the same.

Other than that... NOTHING.

Well.. no, that's it... nothing.

Today it started hailing out of the blue (in the spring time?) ending in about a minute before the sun came out again. I swear.. the weather here is posessed.. And before I think about just how something could possess tehe weather I'm going to switch gears.

SPORESPORESPORESPORESPORE.

Yes indeed. I'm dying without a computer capable of running Oblivion. I fear as if I don't get my fix soon I won't be long for this world *dramatic sigh*.

Ibis
Awwe Stomach Ache, you guys broke up. Too bad. But good that you're still getting an apartment together. Maybe you'll get back together again, never know.

Well, John Corbett has popped up on my friend's section, Geonox will be glad to hear this too. But I am such a noob at this MySpace thing. I must have filled it out wrong because my bio says that I'm single and I don't know how to change it. If Cain sees it he'll probably have a fit.

Stomach Ache, I can't find you "Spore Child" in the search function. Please tell me how to do stuff in the controls. I am such a techno-idiot. sad.gif
Intestinal Chaos
Sometimes the searches just don't work, regardless if you got the name right or not. It's a rather buggy site.
DoomedOne
Hey, I want to update, too, and draw some sympathy for my compassionate situation! It never donned on me to talk about myself on here before.

So, my Dad ran out of money and moved to a hick-town where I see republican posters all over the place and everyone is either fat, has a mullet or does meth. There's a even a freaking walmart. I reluctantly came with him because my friends are thermos-faces and the cost of living in that county was way too high for me to start at bum level and work my way up to an apartment. I could have done it but I'm under 18 so my dad wouldn't allow it.

So, here, I'm lonely, I don't know anybody, I don't do anything, and I just kicked both a cigerette and a cocaine addiction so I'm pretty much pissed off all the time. My old school is going back on what they told me earlier so now it's a constant war to get my diploma from them. Half the time talking to my principle I want to slap him. The community college here doesn't offer anything I need.

Usually I'm an optimist but for now I'm not. But despite it, on the plus side I still have a lot of alcohol I'm waiting until after the SATs to break into. I have a good amount of money put away for college so I don't have to worry about college money, I got a really high score on the placement test for that community college (Not that it matters, it's just good to know I'm still smart). Honestly, when I think about it if I could make a few friends here I could enjoy myself, I just don't know how, where I would go to do that.

There, I'm done bitching.
Ibis
Well Doom, it's good you have money saved anyway. Got enough saved to apply to a cooler college in a cooler place and live in the dorm there? You'd probably be alot happier than in mullet, speed town.

If you can't move away, do they have any internet cafe's where you might meet other gamers? Or, if not that - someplace that sells PC Gamer. You might hang around until you see someone buying it and make some conversation about favorite games, etc.

Stay away from the speedfreaks, methheads - they'll drain you of everything you've got and spit you out when there's nothing left. We had some in our old neighborhood. They even bothered the grade school kids.

I hope your situation improves. I agree with you that if you made some good friends, or even interesting casual friends, it might not be so bad there. And you know you're smart - need to make use of that in college somehow.
DoomedOne
Yeah, I decided to had my run with druggies and I'm done, that's what pisses me off about marijuana being illegal, not to turn this into a debate, but if I could just enjoy it without being forced to deal with characters that are into all that other stuff, or with immoral people altogether. Ultimately it's what made me quit marijuana, I was just tired of always having to deal with being ripped-off and taking revenge so people don't think I'm an easy pick and all that other stuff.

Thanks for the thought, but I don't think there's an internet cafe, and the walmart seems to have chased all the other gaming stores away, and it doesn't seem right for me to hang out in walmart unless I'm pulling off some big heist. A job would help. But otheriwse, you can see why I've been on here so much, and liekwise always pissed off when I've been on here. For everything in my life making friends has been very easy for me, but I've always had a friend their first to introduce me, someone I knew from school, and I don't go to school here, so the former techniques of the infamous vagabond you know as DoomedOne have failed.

At E3 they showed how easy it was to make a creature and I was amazed. You can give it multiple (all of them functional) mouths, tons of legs, mix and match as much as you want and simply have alot of fun. Also, even though its single player, you get to fight other (ai controlled) real peoples planets that change whenever the player changes them. It really looks amazing.

Yeah i read the five page Gamespy thing on it. It's really cool how the game designs the animations on the fly depending on how you designed your creature, etc.
Definitely a game i want to get if at all possible biggrin.gif

I think I'm going to have to look into this. I kinda dismissed it at first glance cause on the link I clicked about it - I seemed to be looking at an ameeba and I'm not very interested in germ level warfare.

I'm gonna look again more in depth this time. biggrin.gif

I get the trembling feeling that this will be Black and White all over again.

"Wait..I'm a God-lord of all these little...oh, this isn't half as fun as I expected. And I micromanage what? Oh, screw it, I'm just going to be evil and exterminate everything."

Naw, theres no "good and evil" sliders in the game. I hate things like that, especially when they barely effect the game or are what the game is based on. C'mpn, when a bloody Nascar game is based on "good and evil", you know somethings wrong with this world.

Aye I've had my eye on spore for a while now. I have my fingers crossed hoping that it doesn't dissapoint which i don't think it will since it's by the same guy who came up with the sims. And since sims 2 is my addiction I can only imagine what spore could be like.

everyone meet my family digitzed into the sims (i'm in th middle):

Only thing I like with Sims is to build the houses laugh.gif
Megil Tel-Zeke
building houses is the most fun part of the game, as is decorating them. dunno why it's fun. I just like it *shrug* I like games that have no direct point to them.

i like taking my time. the entrance way to the house across the street took several hours.

Pffft. Spore? Dissapoint? The only Will Wright product I've ever been dissapointed in was the Urbz... and really.. who expected that to be good? Black and White wasn't a huge letdown... Besides, from what I've seen... is there any possible way for it to be a letdown? We've only seen Demos and they're better than the whole B&W game as a whole.

No, I have faith in this one.
Channler
I agree.. I think spore will. r0xx3rz m3h b0xx3rz!!11

Anyways. You guys make me feel bad with your instability. kvleft.gif I mean, I've had a decent life. We've had our lows out here, real big lows like with Doomeds problem, but recovered.

Alls I can tell you doomed is take what you have and use it. Youre obviously well learned and can convince the mass', try to find some job working with a lot of people. You know? Or you could always join the military tongue.gif
Kayla
The Sims is so addictive... Especially building houses!!! biggrin.gif

I'm in the same boat (no, this isn't an auto-censor tongue.gif ) as Channler; my life's never had any real major problems, so I have no idea of what I should say to help.

Ibis
I already did say what I could to try to show that the lights really do shine at the tunnel end ... so keep on crawling til ya can walk, and then run and eventually - you'll be there. Where you wanted to be, or even better.
Where you're at now will be the learning experience you can judge life by.

Really. Cain & I got through the living in the car thing & got the studio, the band scene. Then he decided on computer technician training & now we are living in a condo on a private lake in Florida. I can go swimming everyday, whereas once I used to whine "Where will I take a shower!" Car living isn't easy, but it got us to where we are now.

Doomed & Intestinal Chaos, I know you guys are going through the transitional stage to something better. Be strong, make good choices. I know damn well you both are smart .... hell, you're both so photogenic you could get modeling jobs for that matter. I used to do that in high school, but for department store shows ... not those phoney modeling schools who say they're gonna make a great portfolio only to get your money. .... but I guess modeling isn't as interesting for guys as it is for girls. Oh the clothes! The clothes!!

edit* wow, I thought the censor wasn't gonna let me curse!?

===================

I forgot to comment on The Simms. That is so funny that you made your family, Megil. I've considered that when I played. And you are also very good with the architecture tool I can see, that is a beautiful house.
What aggravated me about The Simms was the minute micromanagement of every character seemed to leave time for little else. If a character irritated me by having a urinary accident, I'd get so mad that I'd make them have them all the time. Then I let everyone start having them and you never saw so much mopping in your life.
I also liked to let the kitchen stoves catch on fire and see the family react in horror and the firemen come and see if the house would be saved or destroyed. I loved the thief guy too. Calamities in Simmsville. I guess Simms was not exactly my game. kvright.gif

You gotta build your house, manage money, control your sims' every action, all the while making sure he/she has what they need to survive.(Food, sleep, fun, and so on...you get the point...)

I played the Sims games for quite some time...I thought they were alright but I liked Starcraft better.

Yeah I know Starcraft is old and outdated but come on that game was just awesome, it had an amazing storyline, plenty of stuff to keep it interesting, and great gameplay on top of that. It was the only game besides Morrowind that I could sit and play for hours.

Yeah, StarCraft was pretty neat. But I was more of a WarCraft person. Up until I lost my copy I played WarCraft 2 aaaaalll the time. WarCraft 3 was also amazing, but nobody seems to play starightforward games anymore. Sure the custom games are fine... but after a while it all wears down.
Megil Tel-Zeke
well sims one was much more minute details per sim. sims 2 has a slightly improved AI so your sims tend to take better care fo themselvs so you worry more about the other aspcts such as working towards the next job promotion instead of making sure they get to the bathroom in time.

if you enjoyed the urinary accidents and the stov fires in sims, gotta love it in sims 2 when they wet themselves if there is a fire cause they get so excited(no in the good way of course).

but yes starcraft is an amazing game. I still love it to this day, just don't play it often. I preferred starcraft to warcraft. I sometimes wonder why blizzard chose to continue that.

laugh.gif This story reminds me of the time me and my friends were discussing those games where you get to build your own theme park in class. Me and a friend were comparing how awesome our theme parks were when another friend of mine who had been silent the entire conversation looks up and goes, "Have any of you guys been trying to build like a cool roller coaster or something, and all of a sudden on the other side of the park, one of your other rides explodes and all the people die?" We all just kinda stared at him for a minute and someone says, "....no..." and everyone burst out laughing.
Red
Hehe, I like making faulty rollercoasters. The teacup ride wasn't interesting eh? Well, lets put some excititement in your life!

Hmm, alot of people are telling me to buy Sims 2, but I can't really say I loved the Sims. What do you all think? Should I get le game?
Kiln
Well I liked the ability to chose between walking on your own and the classic play where you just click on what you want them to do.

I personally liked it, Sims2 seemed to be an improvement over most of the other Sims games I'd played and I found it rather fun. If its not your sort of game though then you won't like it, if you didn't like the others then chances are you probably won't like this one either.
HyPN0
StarCraft..... Nothing can surpass it. Not even Warhammer 40K. Even if the graphic sucks for todays standards, I would rather play StarCraft then some junk such as Age of Empires III. I really hope they can manage to get me the same feeling in StarCraft 2. smile.gif

Blizzard may not make a lot of games, and they make one game for a LOOOONG time, but every one they make is a mega-hit. I think everybody will agree on that evillol.gif
