He did tell us, as I recall, and then an argument sparked about war or something.
Anyway if you get ahold of a comp, this thread will have probably been locked by then but uh, hope you're having a good time!

It's free MMORPG. You pay to buy it in shops and then there's no monthly fee.

Here's the webpage for the game:
http://www.guildwars.com/
I've actually been thinking about buying the game sometime. Probably in the near future even.
You can basically buy the game and after that you will never have to pay for playing it again.
You don't even have to buy the future expansions to be able to play it.
Sounds good if you ask me.

World of Warcraft?
I don't know about that. Sure, it seems to have a lot to it when it comes to options and stuff to do. And along with the nice gameplay you also get some really nice graphics.
Still, the monthly fees can be a real killer for some. That's one of the reasons I don't feel like playing WoW myself. (Then there's also the fact that I fear I won't have time to do anything else if I were to buy the game

)
And I still haven't forgiven Blizzard for not making a Starcraft 2.

Its true, it is actually like leading another life. As for the monthly payments, it is £9 sterling, and to be honest, i spend that in one month on fairly meaningless things, like beer or cigarettes. 9 pounds is effectively 3 beers or 2 packs of marlboro lights.
Certainly puts it into context as far as im concerned

Well, I haven't bought a new game for 6 months or so right now. Usually I buy about 4 or 5 games per year so I do think I can cough up the money for two games within a short period.

Well I love guild wars so far.. its more fun then WoW or EQ2. In my opinion of course.
You can buy it online, just go to www.guildwars.com and on the left hand side of the page, about halfway down theres a button that says download client. Download it, didn't take to long with DSL, and then sign up for it. Got to have a credit card to do it online though.
PS: If you do, do that. It takes a bit longer to go from zone to zone the first time around, it has to download the place off the internet.
Great game in my opinion.

The thing to remeber about MMORPGs is in the end, the people are what matter. The game can be crappy, but hey, you don't think of that much when you're racing around a made up racetrack with some friends.
I used to play Star Wars Galaxies, not the best MMORPG, and the only MMORPG i've played, the best thing about it was the community. Well, the non-morons/jerks. The game itself was nothing particularly amazing.
I remeber with one character, who was a "Bothan", everywhere i'd go i'd get pet because the race had a vague resemblance to dogs. Was funny.
Its' the people you end up missing when you finally quit the game. Not the game itself.

FPS either stands for Frames Per Second, or First Person Shooter
MMORPG is Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game

Yeah I hate Guild Wars. I probably would be more indifferent to it except I expected it to be so great and was horribly disappointed how it failed to be unique. See, you still find yourself doing to same stuff so you can get lot's of gold to get the better items you want. Sorry to say, but I'm finding everyone fall into that. WoW is a unique experience everytime you paly, so if there was no monthly fee I'd be all over it.

I'd have to disagree, but it's different. You see, I don't like MMOs. I used to play MUDs, but now I jsut can't play them, to damned repetitive. If you like MMOs, then it might seem the same. I don't, so when I played WoW I was at awe, and said, "This is what an MMO shouyld have been done like in the first palce if they wanted it done right."

Does it have non-combat proffession? SWG had that. I liked that.
It was so much more fun to play an instrument/dance and chat than go out and kill stuff. Well, most of the time. PArticularly if one was dancing, because some dance moves were just funny as hell.
Never tried crafting, but you coulddo that too. Oh, wait i
did do some crafting. Back with my Zabrak (Think human, remove most hiar, and give wicked facial tattoos and horns on head), Akiada, to be a Bounty Hunter. Bac kwhen you needed to master both Scout and Fightee or whatever it was to be a Bounty Hunter.
Oh, and the had this other cool skill. "Image Designing", which allowed you to change your own appearance and that of others (If they accepted the change that is). Was fun.

Well being that I like fighting more than anything else in a MMO SWG really lost it for me. I played it for 1 month I think and couldn't stand it, I'm sure they could of done a better job...
Oh and WoW. I don't care if you like it, whatever suits your fancy. I'm just saying that to me it feels the same. And in a lot of ways guild wars feels the same too.
