Blood, sweat and a [much more than] few tears... that's how I've learned to make NIF's.

Model of a dagger for Zarrexaij's upcoming mod

The blade in this screenshot is actually the unoptimized version of model which I had to roughen up a bit in order to cut down some 4000 polygons indifferent.gif making the blade was much easier, though, than learning how to make it reflexive. Here is how it looks in MORROWIND.
If you're interested to learn more, here is the link on Official forums. Zarr and Kikai get all the props.

Hmmm. How 'bout a claymore instead?

This was a side project, while I was occupied with several other things, including Zarrexaij's dagger; it turned out nice but there are 3 problems I am faced with now: 1. The gloss that has to appear like gold isn't so apparent on the flatter parts of the sword; 2. Textures are lousy and I have to make/find & steal some other for the 'amethyst' parts as well as the blade; 3. Even if this all is done, due to the problems with bump mapping [the absence of it in MW, to be precise] my model was made as complete mesh, once again - and, once again, the poli count is trough the roof... nearly 9300 polygons sad.gif any attempt to lower the polis resulted in model looking like crap, so it's safe to say that this will overcook your PC if it's not up to par with latest gaming software [luckily, most of you don't have to worry about it].

But aside from all that, it's still one mean mother of a sword, a bit huge even for my taste, but good. Next time I'll really make something less complex, I promise tongue.gif

p.s.: Aside from making models and [thankfully now] putting them into MW, I still know nothing about making more complex mods tongue.gif I'll try to learn that too, so that you don't just walk into some cave in Vvardenfell [Cyrodiil?? OB mod, perhaps?] and find it laying on the floor... a hostile NPC wielding it, at least, would be nice.

sorry for the double post, but during a not-so-small break [which got few people worried :\ since I was a dumbass, not saying a thing to anyone] I managed to venture a bit into other things. Results are my first shield and helmet - not very neatly shaped, but decent. High-poli, too... if I manage to make a proper NPC with dialogues and quest, it'll be my first mod.

Altmer Artifacts
The Metal Mallet
Haha, cool set there Milanius. It looks like you could stab an opponent with ANY of those items, that's including the armour!

Nice work.
Taillus
Oh wow those artifacts are truly breathtaking. Quite impressive indeed!!!! I really liked that claymore as well. I really have to learn how to do some of this stuff!
Ibis
Milan,
I've just caught up with your latest brilliant works. Love the dagger in Morrowind and the Dwemer artifacts just take my breathe away. *o*
milanius
Oh... thanks. Due to huge lazyness on my behalf I haven't done nothing new in ages -_- but if you're interested in Zarrexaij's mod, it is done and you can get it HERE.

Mil, trouble trouble! I cannot remember my user name at Planetside and they won't let me choose another. Could you possibly email me the DL if it isn't too large? Oh gotta new email addy now - ajinge2001@yahoo.com. Thanx if you can do Milan & if not I'll just have to look all through my chaotic notebooks for my account name. The only notes I keep readable & in order are my modding ones. blink.gif

Amazing how procrastination and lack of creativity work well to produce mediocre results.

Work in progress, influenced by Kukri's [a bit]
Handle closeup - I am unsure if it would be better to ditch the wood on handle and just go with gold

edit: no, scrap that, I am sure now. I'll go with the entire damn thing in gold.

EDIT: yes, lame, I have only one good texture for reflection and it's Gold/Electrum tongue.gif

p.s.: baaah, bloody links >_<

Very nice Dagger Mil, i personally liked the leather thing better, but there is something about a pure golden dagger that is appealing. Nice work either way. heh, better then what I could rustle up biggrin.gif
milanius
New thing ahead, I might even completely ditch dagger for now:

Altmer Longsword [tribute to Adanorcil]
Rear view, handle and crap

The black thing inserted in the end of handle is onyx [can be changed to something else, if needed]. Handle is polished cherry wood, since you lot like it more than solid gold. It still needs more work.
Ibis
Both very nice Mil. I too liked the wooden handle on the dagger; made the gold stand out more to have a contrasting texture. And the Altmer sword is sweeping, sheer magic ... makes me long for my beautiful Altmer spellsword from Morrowind again.

"And now, for something completely different-"

Thordar ["Bonecutter" in Dwarven]
Second angle

This is a 'simple' two-hander for a simple fighting character from Zarrexaij's D&D campaign. The unusual* thing is, the character's a Dwarf and this greatsword is at least good 4 inches [or 10cm] taller than him. With it, however, he could/would become whirlwind macabre, slicing trough armor and meat alike.

*[the character is also unusual in many aspects; some of the things involve fantasies about Halfling females and narcolepsy, so choosing a greatsword for a sidearm is the least eccentric thing about him]

Woo-Hoo! Shiny! (Gratuitous Firefly reference). Very nice work, Mil. I have played a few dwarves in D&D who tended to like weapons that were larger than themselves- usually two-hand axes. (Overcompensate much?)
jack cloudy
Sword bigger than the man himself? I know one of those. biggrin.gif Yeah, those things are always funny, mostly because it is somewhat ridiculous. How the hell does he sheathe it?

I like the sword itself, size notwithstanding.

There is only one thing I don't like. There are no tabeltop rpg-players anywhere where I live. Dammit!

Not really. They're out to prove all the snottier, prettier, taller races that a smaller humanoid can handle their own preferred weapons in a superior way. No wonder preferred class is Fighter; they're built for manufacture and warfare, not ballroom dancing.

He doesn't sheathe it; instead, he flungs it in a harness-like thing diagonally over his back [similar to Scot's claymores]. That way, the weapon can be reached quickly with the right hand.
