However, the force-field can operate on the principle that th object must travel at such a velocity to puncture the sheild. I find that would work. Sorta like the Holztman Sheild in Dune. (Why they have swords in the future =P)

i just got out of the shower and was thinking of a plot for this... it may be a bit far out there, especially from anything you might have had in mind, Channler. But it would make for an interesting plot. here goes:


ok, the 501st was in the battle of the blind, right? the way i saw it is that the HDF won, but got massacred. but maybe BOB (battle o the blind) wasn't an 'accidental' run in with an enemy fleet. what if BOB was a secret HDF set up that they planned on using for wiping out the 501st and whatever other squads were there? but the plan backfired, the HDF forces won BOB and some of the 501st was left alive. so now HDF is trying to get rid of the remainder of the 501st by having them 'escort' the wildcats. only the wildcats 'accidently' have a bit of a miscommunication and 'accidently' open friendly fire on the 501st. thus, we flee and land on mars or something and hide from the HDF because they want us dead.

the only problem with this is: why did the HDF send the 501st to there doom at BOB in the first place?

just a thought....

Just wanted to post the TAF Spacecraft Series...

TAF-1 'Sword'

First craft in the Tactical Assault Fighter series. Made a huge impact when it was first set in action against Rykar Fighters while protecting the border. Is armed with general Anti-Spacecraft missiles and one Light Bomb Missile used to be set off against Rykar Cruisers and Destroyers doing a heavy amount of damage to armor and electronics.

It has also been upgraded over the years, fitted with the newest of technology of weapons and instruments. It's only problem right not is that its pretty slow compared to the newest fighters.

But from all of that, its a very cheap craft right now and easy to get to. Is still used alot in training because it needs alot of skills to handle.

TAF-2 'Flaming Dagger'

It's the second fighter in the series. It's used alot now, its easy to handle, high 'agility' and still a very fast craft due to simple upgrades on its engine. It's used most for hit-and-run on the Rykar Battleships and Cruisers. It's armed with a total of 30 Anti-Armor Missiles also known as 'Flaming Dagger'. They are advanced missiles that have a very special type of missile head that's so hot that it can melt its way through the thick armor before exploding sending out fragments destroying most of the insides of the Rykar ships.

They are also fitted with one Heavy Tactical Missile, that is control by the weapon operative in the craft. They usually use this after a huge hole has been made in the armor of the ship, they then fire the missile that has been called 'Negotiator'. The weapon operative sends it right into the ship before it explode as a massive fireball, sending firewalls through the corridors of the ships destroying almost everything in its way. The missile is only used when they have a clear hole in armor to ships or bases.

The craft is also fitted with a laser shield, it can be only turned temp. on by the pilot or weapon operative while under heavy fire while doing objective.

are there any gunpowder guns, like modern day? or are they all magnetically fired?

also, wouldn't a magnetic gun be silent? and something strong enough to shoot a bullet at...well...bullet velocity then wouldn't it like move a car if you were standing next to it and fired? unless the gun had like an outter anti-magnetic shielding or the magnet was designed to be powerful but only affect a very close range to the magnet.

well gun powder won't ignite in space, since there is no oxygen available. and we will say there is an antimagnetic coating around the gun,as well as a very small field of influence.

I think the normal handguns are such would be normal gunpowder ones. No sense in making it magnetic if it doesn't need it.

I am not sure ont eh whole gun thing, but since the entire thing takes place in space It would make sense to have even small guns be amphibious for both atmospheric and void situations. Like fussy and lone were fighting on the surface of pluto was my understanding, a normal gun wouldn' fire becuase pluto does not have a significat atmosphere and no oxygen.

remember megil that everything takes place in domes which have working ecosystems, and therefore have 21% oxygen.

Unless you;re in a space0suit on the surface outside the dombs that is, or outside a space-ship.

since when does everything take place in domes? If an invading rikar army where to attack a planet, would humans sit there and wait until the spaceship docked onto the domes, before opening fire?

You would be royally painted if fighting in normal space. A rock bgoing the normal bullet speed in space would cut through a normal spacesuit like tissue paper, along with the flesh of the suit's occupant.

A guy in a armored suit, with a magnetic gun (which, essentially is a railgun) would be even worse off. Low manuevability, with guns that'd put a round clean through you. If it didn't kill you outright, the decompression and cold of space would.

And the force would send you flying across the planet's low-gravity surface.

And if the Rikar attacked the humans would use their ships. If those were destroyed, then yes, they would have to wait.
