I think it would be cool to be able to weild two handed swords in both hands if your strength is high enough, like in baldurs gate.Something else that would be cool is being able to put poison on your blade.Any insight?

In my opinion dual-wielding two two-handed swords, or bihanders would be ineffective and would not look as great as wielding just one bihander. The reason being that each individual weapon requires its own fighting style in order to be most effective. Similarly, short swords, spears, halberds, sabers, and even daggers, all require a different style of martial application. Dual-wielding greatswords would be like dualwielding spears. This feat is not impossible to do, especially if you are a strong warrior, yet fighting with one spear would be a bit deadlier.
In addition the wielding of two bihanders would not be as aesthetically beautiful as with just one bihander. Instead of having a warrior making accurate cuts and parries, you would just have a guy who looks like he is clumsily bashing his opponents down.
On the other hand, dual wielding two short swords, sabers, longswords, or especially two katanas, would be both highly effective and probably the most elegant way to cutting down enemies (when dual-wielding).
On the other hand I definatly agree with creating poisons to coat either blades or arrows. But didn't morrowind already have poisoned blades and arrows?
One kind of weapon I definatly would like to wield, would be a rediculously large and heavy bihander (I guess you can already tell on how much I like greatswords). I would also suggest the creation of more special parrying moves which allow you to immediatly counter. Such as deflecting a blade, moving in, bashing the pommel to the head of the opponent, and finally cutting him down while he is distracted.

*Shoots Shogun Ryudan with a sniper rifle for halfway stealing his name*
*Ahem* Now that that is cleared up....
Ryudan basically took the words out of my mouth on duel wielding. It would be a nice touch for something not much biger than a tanto, but would be stupid for something like two claymores.
And Morrowind had a poison enchantment. Now what would be neat is buying a poison then applying it to your sword so it would be like the MW poison enchantment, except it would only last through a few hits.

Anyway I would not mind seeing a few weapons from cultures other than of Middle European origin.

its ok, i was just foolin with ya
katanas, wakizashis, tantos, and dai-katanas are in, those are japanese.... otherwise what other weapons are there other than guns? when did compound bows come into play?
what would be interesting maybe for a mod or something are bottles that when thrown explode into flames like an incindiary grenade (yes, i stole that idea from the rp, so sue me)

I will start making a list of weapons from almost every culture on the world. I just wonder if it would also be possible to include the races and armor of that culture with their weapons. Since this list would use up a lot of space, I think I will start with weaponry from the Arabia, Persia, and India.
Arabia and Persia:
-Scimitar (of course!)
-Curved double-bladed sword (this one looks like a scimitar but its blade splits towards the end creating a fork)
-Shamshir
-Talwar
-Saif
-other axes, spears, and maces in arab and persian styles
India (way too many cool looking weapons to write them all down!)
-Moplah knives
-Yatagan Blades
-Punch Dagger (one on each hand)
-Quaddara (is this Indian or Arabian or Persian?)
-Pattisa (the blade of this sword grows wider towards its tip)
-Pata (the handguard of this dagger is flat and its grip is looped)
-Bladed Guantlets
-Axes (lots of odd and deadly looking ones)
-Kaman (Indian bow)
-Chakram (I suppose these are throwing weapons?)
Nepal and Tibet:
-Kora
-Sacrificial Axes
-Dung (spear)
Alright, tell me what you think of these weapons, and whether or not it would be possible to include any of these in the game. Feel free to add any other kinds of weapons or make any corrections of my list. I would really appreciate it!
I think it would also be fun to fight with or/and against warriors from Arabia, Persia, and India, who are using the weapons listed here.
I would also like to write down the website on which I found most of the weapons, but I don't know whether the rules allow me to write down the e-mail address or not.

adding any weapon that is sword looking would be very easy to make.....
a scythe would also be easy to models, i gues there could be a problem with the animation for youd have to make it yourself....
im sure someone will make a dual wield mod so dont worry

There was such a thing in a Morrowind mod...the slash spear animation made it look good....but no more spears.

One weapon I know will never make the cut Mod or otherwise is still my hands down favorite. I LOVE the huge, chained spear from the Fire Emblem GBA game. It is so amazing. *drools*
Another thing I would love to see modded in are different types of Axes. Huge war axes and two handed poleaxes. Axes rock for large characters and any self respecting Orc. But as long as I can get my hands on a nice Broadsword then I won't mind!

I would like to see a mod where almost everything can be used as a weapon.
See a broomstick? Why not use it as a staff?
A plate? Throwing disk or shield.
Shovel? an Axe, it worked in WWII.
Fork? If you can kill a giant bull netch with it, it's a weapon.
Spoon? Go for the eyes.
Banjo? I bet you could fire some arrows with those strings, or you could club someone down with it.
A woodelf? Those bastards got hard heads, use him/her as a club.

Try doing a roundhouse kick in 70ish pounds of armor.... Not gonna happen. But that being said, I would love to dropkick a Dremora back into his Oblivion hole
I would love to see a tackle sort of attack so you can down an opponent to give an edge. That as well as a disarming tactic would be amazing! Block a big swing from a heavy weapon and then close in and rip the weapon right out of the poor guy's hands!

True Tallius but light armour should allow one to carry out kicks. Your ability to kick should relitively resemble the eqaution where your acrobatics ability is altered by the weight of your armour.I also would love to see throwing weopens which the oblivian team decided to not include in the game.

Mar 14 2006, 10:59 PM
I do agree the slap fest in Morrowind was kind of dry... even if they added a few different types of punches to spice things up it would be great. And since you added the armor and acrobatics thing it makes things seems a little more doable...

DAMN! i was about to say that!

Oh, and btw, in Morrowind someone made a dual-wielding mod, one blade as a weapon and one as a shield.
And the weapon i would most like to see is..... the flamethrower! J/K!
I would like to see some kind of HUGELY oversized warhammer. Like, bigger than yourself. That would be awesome, sending goblins miles into the distance

No, seriously, I think a flail/morningstar or whatever it's called.

*clears throught for long lecture*

Armor, including a combo of chainmail and platemail usually weighed no more than 45 and 55 pounds!

a well made armor will distribute the weight around the body evenly, making it very comfortable for the wearer

knights and warriors at that time were very well trained men (and women)... at least as well as today's marines
so kicking is definatly a possibility, and even more: it is even possible to do jumping judo rolls!

well I know that there are suits of armor that weigh as much as over 200 pounds, think that is like 440 Kgs or so, and the difference is the depth of the metal, so it depends on the suit that you are talking about, but yes...you could have a full suit that weighs around 60 pounds no prob.

I'd kill for a gothic armor and weapons mod.
That isn't called a 'gothic armor and weapons mod'.
Why?
Because eastern germanic tribes from scandinavia have nothing to do with Imperialist Romans in a world of Magic.
But that does not abstain from the fact that these are extremely aesthetic
armors'.
I want to maintain some level of practability.
Also, i'm not suprised this
Armor isn't already in Oblivion.
It's a beautiful set of armor, we'd just need to design the parts covering the other limbs.
Just a Cuirass, to accent another armor.
Like Silver, or Mithiril.
On the Clothing front, a new set of coats would do fab.
Atlavista!Klata!Another!Yes, the coat exists, and it's called that. And a few random quikpiks.
Fantasy Blades.

1 pound = 0.45359237 kilograms
so it would be more like 100kg per 200 pounds...
also i would like to see a kukri
and possibly shurikens, handclaws,
makibishi could prove useful when retreating,
and for that ultimate combo move
nunchaku are the perfect weapon(s)
others i would like are kama, falchion, rondel, rapier, sai, tonfa, balisong,
kris, tanto, makhaira, katar (or bundi dagger),
sarissa (a 6m long one would be nice for defence),
yari, trident, tetsubo, xiphos, kusari-gama, manriki (probably hard to add...),
and many others but i feel that this would certainly be enough...
also .. i dont remember seeing crossbows in oblivion...
and what about attack from a horse..
and.. last but not least.. a grapple (as a weapon not a climbing tool)
that could swing around a persons neck or legs ...
flails and maces and possibly morning stars are very good heavy weapons,
and i just got another idea.. gauntlets with a mini-crossbow and/or a dagger on it
AND who wouldnt love an ability to fire 3 arrows at a time with a bow...
i'll try to think of more...
