Since I'm too lazy to read everyone's suggestion, I'm just gona post what weapon would be bad-boat, so sorry ahead of time for double posting.

I'd like to post a couple of serious considerations that I plan on attempting myself but I've not modded anything since the ol' Quake days. So I'll admit, it'll take me some time to learn things.
But if anyone is more so apt at helping out with this list then I'd appriciate some info and others attempting these items as well.
-Parrying blades. :I plan to just replace a shield graphic with that of a wakizashi or a Spanish poniard type deal. There's quite a few daggers in game I want to do this with but it'll give the game a bit of a 'rogue'ier edge and look more realistic.
-Pole arms. I want spears and pole arms back, but that's going to be a huge task I'm sure.
-Knuckle Weapons: So many of the gauntlets and gloves would make excellent fist weapons as is. Maybe some cesti with small magical enchants so you can finally punch a ghost in the face.
-Pets : I believe I'll make a vender that sells dogs, wolves, and maybe even pet dragons and such to have follow you around and use the general benificial AI to help in combat. Shouldn't be too hard.

What I love?
Sword of wind. A sword with ridiculous reach. (further than the blade!)
Some gloves that increase hand to hand. (sharp pointy thingies on your knuckles and stuff.)
And finally, going completely away from the time period.
A staff that looks and feels like X-com's Heavy Plasma!
And a flying suit to go with it!
Or a staff that spawns a creature that looks like a floating silver football that races to the nearest enemy and blows up in a massive explosion. Call it the Blaster Bomb launcher.
Ok, the last ones just won't fit into Tamriel without making people frown. Forget about those. But I love to see the sword. ,,He is still out of range for melee. Archus Rangius, put an arrow in him. Hmm, why is he swinging his sword? Divines, Archus's head is rolling over the floor!"

Kamas, Stilettos, Claws, Crossbows, Throwing, Sickles, Scimitars, Whip, Mace would all be nice, too...

about the things like katanas and such...i was so happy to hear about the whole sheath thing...until the katanas are sheathed on the waist..how un-ninja like!!!!
how about sum1 somehow changes it so that the sheat is on the back?
and yeah duel wpns sounded cool in morrowind..until one counted as a shield and u cant atk with it

brass knuckles for the average hand to hand fist fight champion, that wouldn't be too hard to mod imo
