Khajiit got a new knife yesterday! It’s a Cold Steel Kobun, and this one loves it so far!

It’s very lightweight, but not to the point where it feels flimsy. The blade is 5.5 inches long, and the spine is pretty thick so it’s not going to be bending and such when you stab something. It also arrived shaving sharp. The width of the handle is very narrow with slight palm swells for easier gripping.This might be an issue for people with bigger hands, but it fits Khajiit’s hands quite nicely. This one imagines a nice paracord wrap could help bulk up the handle to eliminate this issue. The sheath is made out of hard plastic and the knife snaps right in and is held quite snugly. It also has a removable metal belt clip. Khajiit would probably have liked for a metal “guard� instead of the hard rubber extension of the handle material, but that’s a minor complaint and honestly a metal guard might not have even been ideal in combination with the sheath. If you are looking for a lightweight knife to take with you on hiking/camping trips or for a conceal and carry knife, the Kobun is worth checking out. Especially for only the $34 and some change this one paid for it from Amazon.

Khajiit has seen that on Amazon. Apparently the handle is made of plastic. Not sure that wrap texture would be too comfy.

I want the "real" Katana anyway. I put that in quotes because while it is a Katana, it's not made in Japan and it's not from that time.

A short video about a piece of protective gear rather than a weapon.

I somehow missed Skallagrim's review of the movie sword (saber) duel from The Deluge when it appeared several months ago. As you might remember, I am quite taken by this duel, both the book and movie, and agree with Skallagrim's assessment(s). Aside from being a darn fine movie duel, it's about as faithful to the book as one could hope. One deference I'll point out. The colonel's opponent in the book is a better swordsman than portrayed here. Book or film he's simply far outclassed by the smaller man, who toys with him throughout with no intent to kill.

For those who have forgotten my posting of the entire duel, here it is.

Easily the most convincing medieval arrows vs armor (in this case a breastplate) demonstration I've seen..

That was really good. It is the first time I ever saw an arrow vs armor recreation where they used period accurate arrows. Usually they use modern high tempered steel for the arrowheads. When in reality arrowheads were always made of iron, which is much softer. Which completely invalidates those recreation attempts.

Ordered and just got a boot knife! It's a self-defense dagger (kind of) from none other than Smith&Wesson. Too bad I couldn't get one of their guns too...

It has quite thin grip but it feels nice to hold and it has a good handguard. Me happy!

Don't have the camera now but it's this one.

Feels like it's made for both thrusting and stabbing and it has a thing on the back for easily attaching it to a belt without taking the belt off. You can wear it like those SWAT teams where they have the knife upsidedown on their chest.

Yeah, nothing really protrudes so it's a slim design for sure. Definitely one of the best ones I could have gotten

You probably would have liked the Cold Steel Kobun Khajiit bought earlier this year. It was of a similar size but shaped like a tanto.

Just DuckDuckGo'd it. Well, I'm sure it's very well made and all but if it's gonna be tanto shaped I kinda want it tanto length too. What's Khajiit's opinion of it, having held it in his paws?

Khajiit made a post about it in this very thread near the top of the previous page. It feels good! This one did put a crude paracord shell wrap on it to kind of beef up the handle a bit.

Yeah, I remember now. I must say it looks way better than that image I looked up. I also very much like the sheathe; looks tactic!

Before I ordered it I was researching some video reviews for it and found a vid of a guy using one as a bush knife. I must say it performed really good for something not really intended for that kind of work.
