Oh Danny, DoomedOne was in Peru and we were teasing when he was there about coca tea at MySpace. Guess I started it up here ... shouldn't have I guess, sorry. It's just a tease .. as you heard Doomed say, it's just tea.

He had a great time in Peru and got to see Machu Pichu and all. smile.gif

I wasn't offended or anything, just commenting about how there have been a lot of topics about drugs around here recently.
Ibis
Oh .. I didn't notice a lot, myself. Ramirez that is so good that you are trying again. Stick with it ... remember, he who at first does not sicceed, trys - trys again ... often with success.
Tellie
Here I am again...*sticks head shyly into coffee shack, trying to skul off to a table in a dark distant corner* biggrin.gif

First off all, I must congratulate our good'ol starge with his retierment...a well deserved one that is...(welcom ol'champ). I hope you can enjoy a good time with us 'norma' folks now, not having to be bossy tongue.gif, or we may have to turn to drastic measures evillol.gif

Secondly, I managed to get finished with the building project that I was assigned to for two months ago. This was the first assignement that I had the control over, and I feel very proud that I and my team managed to get finished before the deadline (humbly gives credit to the other companies that worked togetherwith us on this one, saying me beeing the leader of the constrauction had nothing to do with the sucsess)
So now I got the job done, without any major setbacks, and no construction faultieseither, so I did t without screwing up...I'm happy smile.gif.

Well, since I'm so happy, I took some free time, and baked a whole bunch of Tellies cake.gifcake.gifcake.gifcake.gifcake.gif help yourselves ok...but the marsipan one is for me, and the Norwegian brown cheese is for minque only.

*takes hearty swig of brandy, before starting to shuffle down marsipan cake, hoping not to be noticedby all these respective people here at the coffee shack*
minque
Hi sweeties!
Couldn´t stop from coming here tonight, I missed you all the last two days but there hasn´t been enough time to even fire up the comp.!

Treydog: congrats on successful ebay-ing! I´ll put up some items myself soon I reckon!

All you students: Good luck all of you, I´m thinking of you ......

Tellie: Ahh brown-cheese-cak! yummy! And congrats on your successful project! So you´re a Bob -the-builder??? hehe Impressive!
DoomedOne
Drugs drugs drugs drugs drugs drugs drugs drugs drugs drugs.

As the t-shirt I bought says, in spanish, "The leaf of the coca is not a droga, es segrado," I couldn't figure out what the last words mean, figure it out for yourself.
Ibis
Doomie you're so silly! I googled a spanish dictionary to find that Spanish word "segrado" and I couldn't find it. Do you know what it means now?
Megil Tel-Zeke
I am sure he meant sagrado?

in which case it means sacred. if eh actually meant segrado, then I'm afraid I'e never stumbled across the word either.
DoomedOne
Of course I meant sagrado.
Soulseeker3.0
of course he meant sagrado... he has the shirt after all biggrin.gif

(yes i am aware that he might have made a mistake)
Ibis
he must have had the shirt on and spelled it backwards from the mirror .... but we know what it means now due to Meril's having lived in South America. I guess they say it's sacred because its part of religious rituals for them ... like peyote for some N. American indian tribes.

Ah well... back to education for a lot of people now. Work hard and don't get in too much trouble. I feel weird that everyone is talking about going back to school etc. Now I've finished uni I don't have to go back into full time education now. I kinda miss it. I'd like to go back to uni and... well, be a uni student for 3 more years.

Been there, buddie, but now I'll have to go again, although maybe not that soon indifferent.gif the goverment has again pushed the dates for official confirmation for our universities and schools to get proper licences to teach to december 15th. That means I'll wait some more, and in the menatime I'll see about that serviceman thing I still have due [our social servises are a textbook definition of pure and utter crap].
QUOTE(Ramirez @ Sep 6 2006, 04:06 AM) *

I still haven't found work. I've applied for all manner of things. I went to a recruitment day for this new department store a couple of weeks back. There was a group interview at first, then half the people got selected for a 1 on 1 interview. I was in that half so I must have done something right. I think I did ok in the interview. I can't think of anything major that I messed up or should have said instead. I am due a letter telling me whether I have a job sometime this week. But I'm finding that as the days go past, my hopes of a letter telling me I got the job are fading.

Been there, done that, too. It's not a pleasant feeling, when you KNOW you've done everything possible and charmed people with your enhusiasm to do a merchandiser job [although you have electrotechnician's HS diploma], and weeks go by without them even sending you a letter with a polite euphemism for "**** you, we don't have need for you or your skills"... I know. But screw them, buddie -when life pounds you to the earth just get up again and continue to walk. There is no other option.

QUOTE(Ramirez @ Sep 6 2006, 04:06 AM) *

I've also been having some mind screwing dreams. I think someone was trying to kill me in a dream last night. I don't really remember it, but I remember a theme of killing in a Saw (film) like theme. Then theres these other dreams about... well, one person in particular who now hates me (long story).

And I have an extremely high stress level.

Well that I don't have, thankfully O_o I haven't been sleeping well these few days, but that's completely unrelated to anything else. My throat however seems to be regenerating [VERY] slowly, thank goodness.
treydog
Haven't had time to say much lately- too busy getting the Ebay stuff going for Mrs. Treydog (and setting up a new acc't to sell my 99 cent paperbacks :lol). There should be some new Trey material for those who are reading the story (shameless plug)/. Hope life is treating everyone well.
The Metal Mallet
Ahhh shameless plugs, gotta love em. If anyone deserves a shameless plug, it's you, Trey.

I might've done it once, but now I got free advertising from Black Hand, which is amazing and very flattering. So if you wanna see an advertisement for my fan fic, just look up Black Hand. The easiest way to do that is probably by checking out his fan fic, "The Tale of Sethyas Velas". It's in his signature. wink.gif

On other news, I recieved last year's yearbook. Our school is messed up, they don't finish the year's yearbook until the start of next school year. The point of the yearbook is to get it at the end of the year and have all your friends sign it. That's kinda hard to do when you're in your graduating year so most of the students you want to sign it have all ready left school! It's still a very nice yearbook though, just disappointing that I can't get signatures for it...

Yeah, thats how it is at my school too.... I end up not getting my book signed because i get it after school and forget to bring it back to school.

I know why they do it though, they want to get the graduation pics and the like in.

Yeah, lifes okay I guess.

I'm a Freshman now, Highschool.

I hate The Scarlet Letter.

That book goes on and on about details that mean absolutely nothing.

If you tell me that they mean something, you are wrong.

Right now I'm deciding what to tackle first tomorrow: a chapter in my A+ Certification book or a Honors Chem I assignment due Wednesday.

nono.gif now now... details are quite important biggrin.gif

I think i've read that book, not sure though... all the books teacher's tend to give you either smear together or fade from existance... *shrug* might just be me though. I'm quite odd (as i've found out on many occasions)

--IPB Image cheers, i'm off

ps. it can't be that bad... can it? okay now i'm off... (sucks to be hyper...)
milanius
LOLLL biggrin.gif I am at the basic comp training class right now - we're learning how to use Intarnet Exprorar laugh.gif sadly, there's no coffee.
Tommorow, at 09:00, I will be going to testing for that serious training [A+, or equivalent, me thinks]. Finaly. Wish me luck !
mplantinga
@milanius: Basic computer training, eh? What a complete waste of time. I hope they give you something better to do soon.

I'm working on trying to write my dissertation. Most of the experimental work is done, so it is time to write. I should tell you right now that I hate writing, and I'm not very good at it. I'm very slow and my writing usually requires a lot of drafts/revisions. I really don't want to do it, but it is the only way to graduate. Well, I guess I should get back to writing.
Ibis
Oh good luck with your A+ test, dear Milanius. I hope it is the official test and that you get your certificate. Cain has done so much with his A+ Hardware Certificate - it opened so many doors to him. He hopes soon to get his A+ Software Certificate as well. Good Luck goodjob.gif
The Metal Mallet
Well after about a 6 or 7 month hiatus, my modem has decided to go on the fritz again! I have no idea why, the day before yesterday it was working fine, then yesterday night BOOM! My modem just cuts out every 5 minutes, slowing down my internet use to a crawl, with many "There's a problem with loading the page" messages. Maybe my phonelines are wonky; I guess that's supposedly a reason why it does this. But there were times when I had months of this terrible "connection". So hopefully this will not be the case and it actually is the phonelines or else I will be very frustrated with my internet use for awile until things seem to "magically" fix themselves. The only change I've made recently was install two older Blizzard games, Starcraft and Diablo 2, and used B.net for them. But the modem was working fine with them for at least 1 and a half to 2 weeks. Any other suggestions of reasons why my modem is doing this would be nice.

In other news, I guess over the weekend I broke a hinge to one of my customer's rear window/trunk. My manager was able to make the customer happy but I got a little lecture about it. At least he didn't sound angry. I guess I'm going to be closing trunks more carefully from now on... tongue.gif
Ibis
Sorry to hear about the trunk hinge TMM. You know concerning your modem hook-up, you oughta look into Roadrunner cable ... just the basic service without the TV service is pretty reasonable. That's what we do. And always use battery powered UPC-surge protectors.
treydog
Mil- Good luck with the A+- that can really be a boost to job prospects.

mplantinga- Hang in there and get it written- I spent 5 years with my "A.B.T."- because I was blocked about writing the darned thing. Had 2 chapters done and the other 3 laid out- just could not write. Not a recommended way to go.

On-topicness, dear Zarrexaij - we were talking about 'the Absolutely basic PC User knowledge Course' - the kind of numbing crap during which lecturer tells you the difference betwen Save and Save As commands >< now, Serviceman training requires that I have some sort of authentication that I have basic computer [PC User] knowledge, so I could take it on the expence of State... THAT course, the PC Serviceman one, is definetly not a waste of time.
I took that test today. It was a sham, really, questions about 'hardware' and 'software' and whatnot dry.gif they will eventually decide themselves who's going to attend the course and who's going to be rejected. We'll see.
Ibis
I still wish you good luck Mil. goodjob.gif

The Metal Mallet
Well just as abruptly as my problem came, it seems to have vanished. My modem is working fine now (hopefully I don't jinx this! tongue.gif). All I did was uninstall the games that utilize b.net and gave it about a day or two and it seems to not have the disconnect problem anymore.

My frustrations are gone for the moment, though later tonight I have a lot of chemistry to do and I need to find some time for studying for my hardware/software test in programming. We didn't have to do this kind of stuff last year, but with a new programming teacher comes a new style, ohwell. I am sure this knowledge is likely going to be helpful to me in the future...
DoomedOne
I managed to talk my mom into giving me 160 dollars a month for college. Granted, many kids have higher allowances that are, well, like 10, but I was never one of those kids to receive an allowance. Occasionally I'd negotiate shoveling the driveway for 15 dollars then paying some kid two younger than me 5 for the same job, or I'd get 10 dollars to replace all of our unchopped wood with the neighbors already chopped wood, but there was never a regular thing going on.

I made the argument now that I quit stealing I was going to be completely broke, my schedule was way too full for a job, and though all of the campus necessities are paid for with my college money as soon as I walk off campus I might as well be homeless. Yep, 160 a month now.
Ibis
Nice Doomed .. that's a real vote of confidence from your mom. And although your school neccessities are paid for, there will still be alot of things coming up that you'll need or want money for. Make the most of this college experience my friend, it should be one of your best ... especially looking back on it.

Now all Doomed One has to do to make his college life complete is fall in love. laugh.gif Could happen .................................... *stop laughing* laugh.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

Well now..things are so exciting, I´m planning my trip to US.....if everything goes my way I´ll arrive in NY monday 25th.....continue to AnnArbor a week later, then conclude the trip of my life (sort of) with a visit to ......well friends....guess!!!!!
The Metal Mallet
Hmmm I'm going to say somewhere south, because generally at that time of the year it's much more appealing to go south than north. tongue.gif

Florida perhaps?
minque
Nope.....besides I´ve had enough of hot weather this year.....nooooo no, I´m going more south-east
milanius
Go get some sunshine for yourself Minkey, before autumn clutches us all tongue.gif
The Metal Mallet
Atlanta? Being Canadian I don't know the States geography well but I know that's south east. Maybe you mean the statue of Liberty though...

The suspense is killing me!
minque
Hehe....ok (Mil! I´ve got all the sunshine in the world this summer! Honestly I really don´t need more!)

I´m going to The Smoky Mountains......yayyy.....There! I can´t wait to go really!

Ibis
Oh I'm jealous! The Smokey Mountains are beautiful any time of year .. but especially in the fall. Minque is right about enough hot weather. Although we've gotten lucky here in Florida that since TS Ernesto blew through things have been cooler a bit. Pretty nice.
minque
YIPPEEEE!! i got my airticket! I´m going to NY on the 26th! I´m so incredible HAPPY....at last I´m going to get the chance of visiting US!

unsure.gif Hello there everyone it has been a while I believe since I last had a chance to post on the forums. By the sounds of things (via skimming the coffeeshop) everyone seems to be doing alright. So wonderful for Minque to be visiting the U.S.

My life has been the dull drone of scheduled events *school and work* and not much going on apart from that. though I have met someone which makes me quite glad.

I haven't checked in in awhile. It's nice to hear you found someone Megil biggrin.gif
Minque, you're lucky to go to NYC, Im actually 1000 miles away from home as I post this right now. Im in Anaheim California. I live in Oklahoma. Huge increase in the number of people who speak spanish. Going home tomorrow morning. biggrin.gif I actually miss home now!
The Metal Mallet
Yesterday didn't start off too well, actually recieved some potentially frightening news. My brother rolled the van on his drive to work. It was on a country road and a dog was crossing it and my brother swerved to miss it, went on the gravel and overcorrected himself so that once he got back on the road he was airborn. The van rolled twice.

Fortunately, he was wearing a seatbelt (both airbags went off but I'm not sure if they helped) and was relatively unharmed by the accident. His one hand was only scraped up and he had a couple of bumps on his head, likely from hitting it on the door window. He was fine with wreakless driving but we're probably going to get the charge lowered to a less serious charge, something like leaving the road dangerously or something like that. The ticket isn't as bad as what the insurance will be now though. Here's an after picture:

IPB Image

I am REALLY glad he's okay though. He was even still able to party that night, what a guy..
milanius
Holy crap, Mallet... rolled twice ? And got out with bumps and bruises ? Well, he is alive and well, that's all that matters now. Charges, well, that is a part of life.
Lord Revan

Yeah insurence is a drag, it usually doesn't help and it costs more than tickets.

For instance-

Earlier this year some uninsured person crashed into my mom's car and drove off. Insurance gave us a car to drive before we got Mom's car back, but the never caught the person who hit it in the first place.
Sir Radont
Is "leaving the road dangerously" a ticketable offense? I guess I've heard of crazier things, one of my friends got a ticket for "accelerating too fast." kvleft.gif
The Metal Mallet
My uncle told me brother about this lower charge, I forget the actual words he used but the gist was basically "leaving the road dangerously".
