Gosh, thanks for the kind welcome/acceptance of Buffy as she enters the world of ESO.
My puter broke and, rather than try to rebuild Skyrim on a new machine, I thought this would be a nice time to try ESO. Buffy played about 4000 hours in Oblivion before moving to Skyrim and another 4000 in Skyrim before moving to ESO. I was delighted with what we found and quickly decided all of Tamriel would be her new home. For those following her current book of fiction, I was also pleased that Valenwood looks and feels quite like the way we have written it as her story gradually progresses down into the land of the Tall Trees where the Cloud Dancer tribes live.
So far, she is relying on bow, stealth and summons and doing well.

I think it´s nothing short of amazing how Buffy has evolved over the years. From Baldur´s Gate (was it?) to Oblivion, Skyrim and now ESO. I hope she will enjoy the whole of Tamriel as much as she´s enjoyed the individual provinces before, and that her life will be full of exciting adventures

And it´s nice to know not all characters are stagnant

Mirocu and mALX – Thank you both so much for your kind acceptance of Buffy as she has transitioned to ESO. Taking up a new game for us is only something that occurs once or twice a decade so it is a big deal – appreciate the encouragement.
From early on, this new game felt very ‘right’ and ‘natural’ for her. It really does provide a seemlessly natural blend of bow with magic and a massive dynamic world to explore and adventure in. If feels kind of like a very well-modded TES game with a whole staff of hamsters to keep magic electrons, load orders and other mundane things all running well.
I leave today for another autumn pilgrimage to visit Acadian Sr over on the other side of the US as he heads into his 96th winter. He is an old iron warrior but even iron doesn’t last forever, so I find it important to make these trips while he is still with us. At any rate, I’ll be back Wednesday a week and look forward to catching up on things here.

Thanks so much, folks!
Buffy is many things, including adaptable - within limits. She has evolved within ESO into a magical templar healer. Her weapons are spells, staves and aedric javelins of pure light. Most interesting has been the strong return of her healing/nurturing nature - so pronounced in Oblivion but not well-supported in Skyrim. Like a wood elf to water, she has taken to the role of healer in ESO. The first version of Buffy in ESO still exists but primarily as a crafter now.

Aww, thanks so much for the support and kind words.
Oh, for ESO fasionistas, the Shadowfen shot features Buffy in all light armor crafted of spidersilk for a level 40 character. Style is Altmer for the jerkin, shoulders, legs and Imperial for the belt, boots and gloves. Dyed to Buffy's preferences for color of course.
The bow/magic combo never really did feel quite right for Buffy and (as so many games do) tends to push one to using daggers as well. Happily, the healing templar seems to suit Buffy to a tee.
Snow?
Plenty of that here. What's missing is not the snow, but the white-haired dear dark elven warlock that Buffy is so very fond of.

Buffy looks fantastic in her Shadowfen shot. I love her pose with the Restoration staff. The colors are perfect, and Kitsune looks like she is doing a good job watching Buffy's back. Short hair looks great on Buffy!

Gosh, thank you all so much for the warm support!
Buffy's secret in cold weather is the enchanted butterfly toe ring that Jerric gifted to her years ago. That one magical gift helped her adventures in Skyrim and, as you can see from her shot in ESO's snowy Bleakrock continues to serve her well. Of course, being curled up in front of Lothran's fireplace in Bruma wrapped in one of his bear pelts is pretty cozy too.
I don't think it's coincidence that those who tug on her heart most strongly are the characters of our dear friends.

A Birthday Greeting for Buffy: click to open
Dear Buffy,
A very Happy Birthday to you! I hope you have a day of sunshine, butterflies, and waterfalls.
I gave your present to the nixads to deliver, so I expect it will come to you separately from this letter. They are silly creatures but they get the job done. Anyway here is the story of how Jerric (me) and Pog (it was mostly me) went shopping for your birthday.
It started with a wager. After some boastful talk and a barrel of ale at the Mudcrab and Suds, Pog made a bet that I couldn’t kill a deer. I agreed before he spit out the last part, “without using any traps or magic.” Of course I got insulted over him thinking I would use a trap. By the time we recovered from that discussion, it was the next day. We went hunting.
Pretty soon I saw the faults in my plan. It wasn’t hard to find a spotted antelope out on the hills above the Strid River, but they are skittish creatures who can hear a mouse fart in a hurricane. If a Nord and an orc can sneak up on one, it’s not me and Pog still halfway lit from the night before and frankly in need of a wash. I knew enough to keep the wind on our faces. Apart from that it was going to be a coin toss whether I threw my sword at it or jumped on it from the cliff above while riding on my shield.
Before I could decide, that antelope’s head went up and its ears swiveled around. A growl told me what it heard, and it wasn’t my stomach. Three dire wolves slipped out of the bushes. If they were after an antelope breakfast, the sight of me and Pog changed their minds.
Now I don’t know if it’s because I wore a wolf on my chest for so many years and then one on my shield for some time after that, but I hate to kill them. Pog and I were not wearing armor on account of being stealthy. We put our backs together while they circled. Pog was for blood. I tried to think up a plan.
Two sabre cats leaping down the rocks was not my plan, but that’s what happened. The wolves melted back into the brush. Pog and I drew steel. My head cleared from the leftover ale buzz like Kyne smiling through clouds, which is how I knew things were serious. The big one snarled and bunched the muscles up on his shoulders while the smaller one came at us from the side, all silent teeth. I know an old married couple just like that. I took a breath, but Pog beat me with his battle roar.
Pog can shake the trees with his noise, but the call that answered him shook the hills. It came from behind the cats, or I should say from behind the empty place where the cats used to be. All of our fuss had awakened a bear.
With one bear against two half-drunken “hunters,” Pog and I could flank it. Pog hollered at me to stay away from the bear cave so if there was another bear they wouldn’t get to take turns with us. I shouted back that he was yelling which would wake up the other bear if there was one, and also I accused him of not noticing the cave while we were stalking the antelope. While I was at it I mentioned a few things about his breath, personal habits, and the bear’s resemblance to his mother. That last part was unnecessary but still true.
When the bear ran off at first I thought we had just confused it. Then the ground quaked and a reek came over us that you never forget once you’ve smelled it. Part rotten fish and part Wrothgarian toe cheese with a whiff of freshly stained drawers. We had attracted the attention of a river troll.
If there’s anything a river troll likes to eat more than bear, it’s prime cut of Nord with a side of knarly, disagreeable orc. Here was a fight that wasn’t going to up and leave us. As you know trolls can heal themselves, so we had to finish it quick. One of us distracted it by screaming heroically while punching some of its eyes, and the other slew it with his bow and Dragonknight spells.
After we put out the fires and checked me for arrow holes, it was time for the back-slapping and toasting the carcass with the skin of mead that I always have in my pack next to the horn of ale and flin jar. So we gathered up my gear including the pack that I had shed while charging the troll. That’s when we found the antelope.
The little thing was lying in the shade dead as a stone with not a mark on it. Best I can figure it must have died of fright over the fate that never had a chance to happen, like an Orsimer on his first trip to a dentist. An antelope is about as pretty a creature as ever walked the hills, with their white spots that shine in the sun and let them disappear in dappled shade. For once Pog and I had the same idea. You can use the hide he tanned for you in a bedroll or you can hang it on the wall when it’s not needed. I cooked the best cuts and packed them with frost so you would have a good meal when you’d like some venison but don’t want to take a whole deer. Wishing you a happy birthday brought peace between us for an entire afternoon.
Pog even admitted that I won the bet, after I let him knock me down a few times and put my face in a daggerback wallow. Which now that I think on it, sounds like the penalty if I’d lost. Either way we agree on this: we hope you have a wonderful birthday!
Love from your friends,
Jerric
and
Pog (the Magnificent)

Dear Jerric and Pog,

What an exciting hunt that was! It seems the antelope kept summoning larger and more potent defenders until finally it must have tapped into its own life-sustaining magicka and perished. You and Pog were magnificent! And by Azura, the results of both your hunting and crafting skills were fabulous! I’m so glad you mentioned the idea of putting that beautiful pelt on the floor to join my collection that carpets Snugpod. Turns out, Snugpod already came with a similar pelt on the wall and my walls are pretty full. I found the perfect spot near the fire for it though and it is beautiful.
And the meat is so tasty – very healthy and sticks to my ribs for a really long time. I enjoyed my first ration of it this morning before entering a daedra dungeon.
I thank you all. My dear friend, Jerric. My new friend Pog. And the antelope that now graces Snugpod. I’ve no doubt her spirit will soon find her way back to the forest, happy in the knowledge that the bounty of her previous life is so well-cherished.
I’ve included a
picture that includes that beautiful pelt. It is on the floor by my left elbow. You can also see the other one that came with Snugpod on the wall in the upper right corner of the picture.
Green grasses and cool waters to you.

Thanks, Lopov! The thing is, Buffy and I never stop 'creating story'. The problem is that we create story about 100 times faster than we could ever write, edit and bring to post. *sigh*
Though she has mastered time travel between Eras, the next 'logical' step in her saga would be the Oblivion Crisis - though it feels like ancient history to her. Perhaps we'll continue there at some point; after all, with Sir Mazoga as the Champion of Cyrodiil, Buffy's role in the crisis is not all that big.
Or. . . we might post another of her short stories at some point. She quite enjoys the freedom of bouncing all round her very long history (playing Elder Scrolls for 10 years now) and briefly alighting on diverse snippets here and there.

Though I never wrote anything as extensive that could even possibly compare to your (Buffy's) fanfic, I can relate to this thing you mentioned. I usually game / create a story at a fast pace, so when I post screenies of some characters, those screenies are usually already a few days, even weeks old.
Well, I'm looking forward to whatever you two decide to do next, but I wouldn't mind some stories or screenies from time to time.

Today marks three years in ESO for Buffy so I decided to crunch & compare some numbers regarding her very long sage across several games set in Tamriel -
Oblivion 2007-2014. 4000 hours played.
Skyrim 2014-2016. 4000 hours played.
ESO 2016-2019. 6,500 hours played.
I had no idea that ESO had eclipsed either of its predecessors for her. Time flies when an elf is having fun.
