I can stop collecting airsoft guns anytime that I want! Tomorrow's is just better.

The SCAR-L I knew wasn't going to blow anything out of the water but dang. Now the 5.7 shot great! No issues there cool.gif .

Take two.

Are you guys doing things different this year foodwise or do you keep traditions?

We're gonna have Christmas as usual with the usual food, coffee, desserts and snacks. And I would start a riot of anything changed tongue.gif santa.gif

I make the same things every Thanksgiving/every Christmas/and every Easter. It is the tradition. I might add something new, but the same stuff is always there for anyone who doesn't want to try the new stuff. (for example: my husband wanted me to add a pot of bean soup to the traditional dinners, so that was added in three years ago).

This year my son couldn't make it to Thanksgiving, so it was just the two of us = couldn't see spending all that money and cooking all that for just us two, so we didn't cook the huge meal. It just didn't feel right AT ALL to not have it. After belly aching over not having any turkey I finally did what Acadian does every Thanksgiving = went to Panara Bread and got a turkey sandwich. It sucked, they no longer make them with the cranberries. (but their "squash soup" was great!).

Christmas dinner is coming up soon, and again my son may not be able to come to that either, so having to decide what to do about that dinner now. Can't do all that cooking and spend all that money on one dinner for just us, too much food would go to waste. Maybe I can just do a couple Cornish Hens or something.

Also, this year I wanted to test out using some Andoulli Sausage in the stuffing that goes in the bird, and if I don't make a Christmas dinner it will be my last chance this year to try that, urgh. I guess I could stuff the ham with it...

This is the time of the year when I shine in the kitchen, really miss cooking for a crowd!!! Where I used to live, the neighbors would stop in with an empty plate and wish us happy Thanksgiving or Merry Christmas = fill their plate up, stay for a little conversation, then go back home with a plate full of food. I LOVED that!!! And those days my children ALWAYS made it home for that meal, so I spent three days cooking and put out a spread that would feed everyone and still have plenty of leftovers for them to take home.

So yeah, it feels kind of empty to not have the big dinners this year, but ... it would have been too much waste of time and money to do them without the family or neighbors to feed. So yeah, I sure understand that riot you were threatening to start, lol. I want to start one myself, lol.

How come there's not the same where you live now, what with neighbors coming over with plates?

I moved out to the boonies, and out here there is acres between people's properties. Out here the people don't walk around house to house with empty plates to share the big meals with their neighbors = too far to walk maybe.

I made a nice fruit compote for one neighbor who was upset by my dog barking and they acted disturbed that I came to their door, so it is not the same friendly place my old neighborhood was. I mean = my neighbors are nice, but not as friendly and interactive in the country as they were in the city.

(but that said = the city has gone way down hill since I lived there. It has become violent, and the only people coming to your door there now are trying to rob you in that city = glad I moved out of there when I did).
