I am very sorry to have to make this thread but I just got a message from jonajosaŽs wife telling this terrible news
QUOTE
My husband "AKA Jonajosa" Is listed in critical condition right now. The unit he was with got hit hard and while they were able to kill or capture most of them my husband was been injured.
They went into a building to clear it when a grenade rolled out towards them. My Husband got everyone else out of the room and blocked the shrapnel from hitting his men with his body in the doorway.
Medical wise he has lost a foot and has lost also a lot of blood. Im crying as I write this because his chances of survival are only 40%.
She wanted me to tell his friends about this and thus IŽm doing it. IŽm crying as well writing this.....why I think you all understand..
So let us hope he will be ok and get home safe and sound.
Join me in a sincere prayer for jonajosa...

Dammit, its truly an honor to have even spoken to a guy like that, even if it wasn't in person.
Jona's wife: We are all praying for your husband.
Jona himself: pull through man, I know you can't see this but you have to pull through.

From one "hillbilly" to another:
My prayers are with you and with your family.
Oh sweet god in heaven, I do pray that he pulls through this ordeal, and I do hope his wife can find a way to cope with this tragedy. Poor guy, I really do hope he can get the blood he needs and whatever medical support he can.

What are the odds, you know? That on this little fan forum one of us, one of our very own has had
this happen to him. It's just awful that he got injured and is in such critical condition. My prayers are with you, JonaJosa. And like Kell said, it is
truly an honor to have even come in contact with someone like that...
For you, JonaJosa.
Get well soon.

You'll pull through, I'm damn certain you will.
If they had a salute smiley I'd use that.
You served and fought for the nation I live in and I believe I owe you a thanks.
Man, put yourself in front of the doorway to block the shrapnel. . . how brave can you get?

In spite I don't know jona, I can't believe a person has that much bravery and courage. Please tell me he makes it...
Our father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come,
I will be done on this earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day, our daily bread,
And forgive us of our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from Evil, Amen.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen.

I really think Jonajosa deserves MoH... At least in my opinion... Acting above call-of-duty, saving your brothers in arms first before willing throw yourself in front of the granade taking the hit to protect your mates.

I'm thinking more Navy Cross (he's a marine, right?). MoH is extremely rare.

This is what makes you deserve Medal of Honor;
"Extraordinary heroism and uncommon valor without regard to his own life in order to save others are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service" and I think that was just what Jonajosa did...

I was in no way down playing what he did. No matter who you are, he's a hero, but what I was saying is it seemed more likely that he would get a Navy Cross (which is the second highest comendation for the Navy and Marines).

The medal of honor is the highest military medal you can achieve, and even what jona did I doubt he'll recieve it, there were what 41 MoH given out of the millions of troops who died to save people? The last I heard was a man from Iraq threw himself over a grenade with his helmet on the grenade to save his troop, and he died seven days later in the hospital.
Is jona in the military? Or is this military? I'm kind of confused I don't know him, if he's in the military and this was during that time he has a pretty high chance of getting one...

He is in the military, if he's in the US Army or Marine I dont know but it doesn't really matter now anyway. If your tough enough to take the granade fragments to protect your mates then I hope he is strong enough to survive this...

This is indeed shocking. I wrote a poem for his heroic deads...
What possibility was it,
That our forums could split?
Something so monstrous,
Was surely the thing of nightmares?
Was indeed of our worst nightmares.
And that,
We regarded as fact.
How did it seem likely?
I'll tell you: it didn't.
Upon the forum,
We had fun.
Agreed and disagreed with some,
We posted posts, tonne upon tonne.
We knew life couldn't be kept perfect,
But we shoved that thought down inside.
This virtual world,
Was mine...
What possibility was it,
That our forums could split?
Something so monstrous,
Was surely the thing of nightmares?
Was indeed of our worst nightmares.
And that,
We regarded as fact.
How did it seem likely?
I'll tell you: it didn't.
What could happen,
That could ruin our time?
Something so ugly, it was misshappen.
And finaly a bell did chime,
Nature's most horrible crime.
Almost a kill.
An injurie insued.
War and deceit.
The truth was not hid from us,
And one was hurt.
One whom we did not meet.
A troubled country,
A dangerous war.
Our hero became the stuff of lore.
He quite possibly,
Sacraficed something of his.
It's irreplaceable,
Yes, it is.
What possibility was it,
That our forums could split?
Something so monstrous,
Was surely the thing of nightmares?
Was indeed of our worst nightmares.
And that,
We regarded as fact.
How did it seem likely?
I'll tell you: it didn't...

Jona, you've been their for me on arguements and against me iin a few (Albit like 1) but I see your conviction, and I know you did the right thing.
An American Hero - JonaJosa aka Mr. GoodJob Man
-=-
As much as I'd like to say he'd get the Medal of Honor, I know he won't. As someone stated before, out of the millions that have sacrificed themselves few can actually display their might act of valour. But thats not to say the Navy Cross isn't nearly as prestigous.
Thank you JonaJosa for your unwaivering support in the cause.

Tuesday Night Religion School Was Useful.... But For A Terrible Event
Holy crap....
Hope he pulls through. That was some brave compassion, a bit dumb (the whole being a human sheild bit being the dumb part, that is), but brave.
You have to admit though, either he gets his troops out of the building and takes some shrapnel, or he runs out as fast as he can and gives his troops a possibility of taking some shrapnel and force.
