If Oblivion's realism is going to kick in (haha, I used the R word) and your horses can be killed, wouldn't it make sense to be able to equip them with defenses, and will you be able to differ from riding bare back and riding with a saddle? And would the number of the horse's equips alter it's speed?
Imagine a knight in daedric armor riding through Kvatch on the back of his equally daedric-clad horse..

Of course, besides protection for your horse how else can you role-play on a horse? Horse armor would be the bomb !

Anyway, the horse armor should include the same armor types (steel, ebony, etc.) as for the player. It might however be interesting to see how they're going to do something like glass.

I shouldn't be more interesting than the regular glass armor (that stuff was pretty wierd).

They also said that you will be able to custumize horse armor to couple your own.

yea that would be pretty cool theres an armor horse downloadable content but i heard it not all that great
There is the Horse Armour DLC, but that only comes with Elven and Steel armour. I'm sure a modder could easily create a mod that allows you to have more than just those types though.

I just got the DLCs on disc but I donīt plan to use the horse armor. For one thing I rarely ever use my horse, plus my character is an adventurer and not a knight so it would just seem weird.
