Full Version: can I ask - who is maintaining this site?

I'm utterly shocked to see that not only is this forum still around, but that people are posting to it in 2024. Kudos to any and all of you for that.

But, who admins this site and forum? Is it ever in danger of going down?
mirocu
I believe it's Alexander and Stargelman who keeps this relic up and running. Good thing too; I need to spam! laugh.gif

Also; I need to get good advice from time to time from the core members who's thankfully, like me, still here. Chorrol is my go-to site on the web and I don't know where I'd be without it so kudos indeed to Alexander, Stargelman and everyone who keeps this place alive smile.gif

Mirocu is right.

The short answer to your question is stargelman and, thankfully, he seems determined to keep us going.

I and SubRosa (Mod) are here regularly and are able to deal with day to day business. When it comes to nuts and bolts of maintaining the site itself, however, we are fortunate indeed that, although he's moved on to other things, stargelman still keeps the hamsters fed and steam running. Things are getting old though so he is currently looking at some changes to both server and software.

Mirocu is not alone in feeling that our small and intimate forum is a primary 'home' for many of us.

Disturbing news to me, as I hate changes. At least when it comes to UI and the general look of Chorrol. I hope things can be kept as close to the current iteration as it can.

Mirocu hates change? Say it's not so! tongue.gif

This place has been a second home to me ever since the old Bethesda days...ah the good old days. Man I haven't been on Bethesda dot net since forever, actually I think the last time I was there they close down their new dot net forums as well---I think.

Yeah, they took it down when they were bought by Microsoft. Now they have their “community” on Discord.

Actually, Bethesda forums closed even before that - in May 2021. That's when I and a few other people came here asking for asylum... rolleyes.gif And were accepted. biggrin.gif Bethesda apparently decided to "move" their forums to Discord because it is a far better environment encouraging cooperation and stuff... *sigh*

I don’t know about others, but I had a real hard time keeping up with things over there. Conversations seem to be all over the place, and I couldn’t get accustomed to how things are “organized”. I don’t go there anymore.

+1. Chorrol is the closest thing to social media I participate in. I have nobody in real-life to discuss CRPG gaming with, which is fine. smile.gif Real-life is for real-life things. So it's just nice Chorrol.com still exists, just because I get to do all my gamer gabbing here.

No Facecrook.
No Instacram.
No Tik Tac.
And not even Rebbit.

Only Chorrol.com, cheers. 🍷

I'm with Renee on this - all my online social stuff is either here in the fan fic forum or over on ESO (where I'm part of a few guilds), plus a writer's group on Discord. That's all.

This site has the best combination of background and text color as far as readability for old eyes are concerned. Dark Mode is good, but too long and my eyes start seeing strings of dark text on the real world blink.gif I support keeping it updated in terms of server/software - eventually that's going to become necessary. But I am also with our resident Corvus and hope that visually it remains the same, or close to it.

Agreed. "Dark mode" is the new black, but actually beige was better. biggrin.gif
mirocu
I use beige biggrin.gif
TheCheshireKhajiit
Same.
SubRosa
Beige for me as well. The dark mode is too hard on my eyes.
macole
The beige background of this site is very nice. Much better than dark mode, but I long for the old green screen days.

GACK! What am I saying? No I don’t!

Much thanks to Stargelman for keeping this site going and to Acadian and SubRosa for the work you do.

Agreed. I don't like either white or black background actually. Both makes it hard to read for my eyes after some time, but I never have issues with beige.
