The devs said that in combat you can rebound of an enemy's shield.
I think they should use this all the time, e.g you run into a wall or somebody you should bounce back of it and stagger away, this is what always annoyed me about morrowind. - how you could run into a tree and keep running-
Any thoughts?

If you can rebound of a enemy shield then I dont think they have let it out from normal play too.. I'm pretty sure that if you run to a stone wall you'll not keep on running

I think it would be cool to be able to swing your weapon at a wall a see sparks fly and stumble back a bit or something. Or whack a tree and have your battle axe get stuck in the wood and have to yank it out.

ya but that would bring up cutting down trees. It'd be cool but definitly opening up a whole new can-of-worms.

Personally I'd love to go harpooning or something... stabbing a slaughterfish and watching in riggle on your hook as you safely sit upon your boat seems nice... and it's good pay back.

That would be only more than a little frustrating to lose precious seconds because you scraped every so slightly too close to a wall.

thats what i was thinking. maybe if the rebound off the wall was like half a second long and only happened if you ran full speed straight into a wall, otherwise you would just move in the direction of the wall.
i can just imagin trying to sneak around and getting close to wall in order to not be seen then some animation starts and your char. stands up and is spotted and killed.

well i am assuming that with a physics engine it would calculate your speed, and then calculate the force pplied by the wall, and that applied by your velocity. and then from there figure whether or not the physics would push you back.
so for example running at full speed into a wall, well oviously you are going to be bounced of it, and then physics engine will probably make you stagger backwards and even fall. but if you are sneaking, you are applying little if any force, so the wall isn't going to apply any force back, so you will be able to safely sneak up to a corner and what not.
yah i tok physics in 10th grade, so i could have very easily forgotten everything about it, but i don't think that collision aree all that complicated, unless you want like car wreckage type damage or something lol.

Collision basically means that the exact force you applied against an object that does not move will be shot back at you.
