Full Version: Oblivion A-Bomb Bug

I vaguely remember this being covered elsweyr ( tongue.gif ), and if so this can be deleted if someone would be kind enough to guide me to the proper thread, but I was curious if this issue ever got fixed by any mods. Maybe the Unofficial Patch?

Buffy moved from Oblivion back in 2014 but I remember the A-bomb well. We found the simplest fix was to install Wyre Bash - that can be a bit intimidating but carefully follow the instructions. Once installed, WB has basically a one click 'fix A-bomb' feature that works wonderfully. That is why I installed WB but once I began getting braver with it and tinkering with it I found it a handy utility with some other very nice features. I never did get brave enough to use it for installing/managing mods (I used OBMM).

Yes there are mods which can easily take care of the A-bomb, but I also have Wrye Bash, so I use this. Matter of fact, this (and a Hair Bug fix) are the only things I use Bash for. I think mirocu uses a mod.

Me too. Bash is supposed to be better and more comprehensive in a lot of ways but I never did figure out how to use it for mod installation. It always messes up my game whenever I even turn the program on, and then I wind up getting CTD on launches. I then have to fix THAT with BOSS, because Bash does something weird with mod load order.

Ah! Wonderful! I don’t suspect my ADD will allow me to play a single character for 400-500 hours but it’s nice to know there is a fix for this bug that sounds absolutely horrific! Thanks A!

I use a nice little program to fix the A-bomb with. Can't remember its name though.

I use both WB and OBMM. OBMM primarily for Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul and a couple of others. WB for everything else. including fixing A-Bomb, removing bloat and fixing corrupt saves.

Yeah, I’ve noticed mod authors can’t seem to agree on how best to package their work, lol. I’ve got a weather mod that tells you to install it with WB/Bain, and then I’ve got Qarl’s Textures that tell you to use OBMM. I guess it’s ok since most every modding guide says you should have those programs anyway. Still, it would be nice if it could all be uniform.

I'm rusty at it now, but recall that it's normally easy to convert at OBMM mod to WB format. Very few can't be converted. But again, I'm no longer an expect on the topic.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bash can install any OBMM file at this point. It's the only mod manager I use now, and they even added FOMOD support for the newer games (SSE, FO4).

The EngineBugFixes mod (available at Nexus) an OBSE plugin, permanently and continuously fixes the A-bomb, no more need to fix saves periodically. Also fixes the cell 3,3 bug and several dozen other engine bugs. In my view a more important addition than the UOP.

Awesome, good to know. At this point in my PC gaming career though, I kind of enjoy when the A-bomb shows its ugly head. Because then I get to squash it! ohmy.gif But it's good to know for those who don't want to deal with something else, yet another little thing to deal with, which distracts from gaming.

Yeah, it's not really an issue for me either. Takes long enough between each time and it makes me feel smart when I fix the problem tongue.gif

Any custard to go with those fish fingers?

Think I'm up to eight Abomb resets at this point. Kinda interesting to keep track smile.gif
