TheCheshireKhajiit
Editor's Note: This publication is copied from a journal found by a traveling merchant on the road somewhere in The Commonwealth. It details the experience of Victoria, a young Raider woman. The original writings were full of profanity and described behavior of a rather savage nature. We have cleaned up the language and left out certain unsavory details of behavior we deemed too violent, sexual, and sometimes both simultaneously. Still, if you desire to read the original text as it was written, please PM me and I will send you a copy. Despite the author's objectional morals, we found the adventure described in this journal quite riveting. We, the publishers, believe that releasing the entries in a serial format would be most desirable, therefore, we will release the first two entries and then follow up with the rest at semi regular intervals. We hope you enjoy the story. Thank you.

Victoria's Scout Log

October 22, 2287

Finally! After months on the move, we arrived on the outskirts of Boston. Liams Own seems like such a long time ago, and we've done a lot of messed up crap on our trip east south east, but as Trixie likes to say, "that's how you survive in The Commonwealth". It's almost funny. We ended up just like the Raiders that burnt out Liams Own. Not that there's many of us left now. Of the 16 that escaped Liams Own together, only me, Trixie, Orson, Bagger, Trash, and Orson's dog, Jo, made it to the outskirts of Boston.

We arrived at an old power line tower on a hill northwest of the city just before full dark. Trash wants to celebrate and is already passing around something foul in an inhaler. Tomorrow Trixie wants me to go on a scouting mission to see if there are any easy targets to raid or structures to make a base of operations it of nearby. Maybe I'll even find some more blue paint for my face! My supply is running low. Man, sometimes I wish I had never seen that blue painted warrior woman in that Grognak comic. I love the look, but finding the paint is hard! Anyway, time to go party! Victoria out.

October 23, 2287

Woke up this morning after our little "celebration" last night and holy crap! I had myself one really weird dream! In it a man was looking into a mirror, his wife standing over his shoulder, and they were having a conversation. Something about a veteran's hall, whatever that is. Everything was really friggin' clean, and the couple looked like they were from the old days, you know, before the bombs fell. I can still see their faces so clearly! Then suddenly the woman walks in front of the mirror and her face transformed into mine! What the hell?! First and last time I do whatever that was in Trash's inhaler! Crap gives you weird dreams! Sometimes I wonder how she functions, being high on that crap all the time like she is.
After shooting the breeze with the crew, I made my way down the hill and crossed the little stream at its base. Found several cool things:
- Big structure built up on a power line tower surrounded by farmland to the southeast of our hill top camp. Maybe a good place for the crew to "check out" later, but I was looking for a place we wouldn't have to fight for while we gather our strength. Kept my distance for now.

- Slightly north of that, a water tower, and oddly enough, it had 4 canisters of purified water and an aid kit at its base and a half buried trunk nearby full of goodies!

- Old Red Rocket building just north of the water tower. Had a friendly dog there that helped me kill some molerats that ambushed us. He's my dog now, I guess. Gave him some roasted molerat for a job well done.

The building itself has a workshop, weapon and armor bench, barbecue spit, and a Chem production station (boy, Trash is gonna love that!). Threw my sleeping bag down in what was the office, rearranged the storage furniture, and I'm calling it home for now. Hell, it has everything we need!

- Pre War settlement on a lake called "Sanctuary Hills" to the northeast of the Red Rocket building. Didn't explore fully because of a robot hanging around the north side of the area. May come back with the crew later as it has potential to be an excellent base.

- Small encampment of 3 Raiders and a dog northeast of Red Rocket. They were all asleep so I tossed a molotov from a rock formation on the south side of the camp that took out two of them. Then I relocated to another rock formation on the north side of the camp and killed the last jerk and his dog with my bolt action rifle. Looted the corpses and returned to Red Rocket.

Well, when I returned to Red Rocket it was dark so I'm hitting the hay now. This PipBoy Trixie took off that Vault dweller we wasted on the road is really helping me with my scouting missions! Very pleased with its performance! This dog is also very smart! In addition to mauling people on command, he can find and pick stuff up! Very useful mutt! Tomorrow I'll head back to our camp under the power line tower and report my findings to Trixie. Hopefully they don't all get wasted tonight. This area seems peaceful, but trouble could pop up at any moment. Victoria out.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to the next entry.

Blue suits Victoria, she has a psychotic expression on her face in the first pic. Her fellow raiders look badass too.

Renee
Yes, I concur with Lopov. Khajiit's new story is fun to read. I like the inhaler-inspired dream most of all, and I hope she finds some blue paint.

Khajiit must send me the unedited version too. The profanity would make her journal even better! Please send it to me! ... Another option would be to just write the story with bad words in it, and let Chorrol's swear filter catch them. I've done that in the past. It would be funny to read with the actual words in there though.
SubRosa
I like Vickie's look, with the blue Furiosa face paint on her forehead, and the Ragnar season 2 hair.

Oh cool, that is the Raider gang that lives by the electrical tower south west of Vault 111.

Grognak FTW!

Love the drug-induced dream of character creation.
Acadian
Welcome to Victoria! So nice to see you sharing her story. I love her 'I kissed a smurf' colors! tongue.gif

Thanks for the positive feedback folks. Khajiit thinks y'all will like 10/24/2287. Discoveries will be made, lives will be crushed! tongue.gif
We are currently sitting at about noon on Oct. 24th, so this one is not sure when the next entry will be out (we have the time scale set to 8, so days are fairly long; may need to adjust that later).

@Renee: Khajiit would be happy to send you the original. Would a PM suffice or is there another way you would like it delivered?

@SubRosa: Those are the Raiders you start with if you choose the "I was with a Raider gang" start with the mod Start Me Up. We've explored Vault 111 and made some interesting discoveries but we haven't gone very far into the MQ to see how they handled things beyond Vault 111.

October 24, 2287

What a friggin' terrible day.

It started like so many others before it. I woke up this morning and after a snack I decided to go on one more scouting mission before returning to the others at the power line camp. I found a shallow area I could cross in the stream that runs on the southeast corner of Sanctuary Hills and followed the opposite bank north, keeping my distance from the old pre war houses. On the northwest corner of the island I came to a steep drop off with another shallow stream to cross. This one was guarded by a trio of bloatflies. Mmm... tomorrow's lunch.

To the northwest of that is a makeshift shelter that at first appeared to be home to a Raider and her dog. I circled around and climbed a hill that stood over the structure. From the high ground I easily took out the woman, and her little dog too. When I went into the shelter there was another woman dead on a mattress with an injector of psycho beside her. Really strange. Didn't look like a junkie but the lack of other wounds indicated she OD'd. Took all their things and scouted the area east of there. Killed 3 feral dogs and some scaver who was taking target practice on some bottles set up on posts.

From there I back tracked past the makeshift shelter with the dead people in it and followed the stream around to the southwest. Then the path along the stream branched. I could go left over a little wooden bridge and head back to Sanctuary Hills or right up a hill to a billboard with that Vault stuff all over it near a chainlink fence and gate and a bunch of skeletons. I decided to go right.
Further up the track I discovered a Vault door. Guess those skeletons were the unlucky ones that didn't get into the vault. Just by the door there is a small structure with a button to open the Vault door. Will go back later after I get my head right and see if I can get into it. Might be some supplies or gear down there.

At the Vault site I found a road that leads back south. When I looked at the PipBoy map, I realized this route would bring me back to the vicinity of the power line camp! I took the road and it wasn't long until, sure enough, the power line tower was in sight through the trees. I killed some molerats on the way but as I neared the camp, the area seemed oddly quiet. No Orson laughing hard at a joke Bagger made, no conversation, nothing. When I finally reached the clearing beside the camp, I understood why. They were all dead.

Wiped out. All of them. Orson, Trixie, Bagger, and Jo were laying under the tower around the campfire, and I found Trash down the hill by the stream. Who or whatever attacked the camp had friggin' cut her head off! In a daze, I arranged the bodies on top of the hill in a row, dragged Trash's body up the hill, put it in line with the others, and then went and retrieved her head. With all their bodies together (I put Trash's head near her neck. Seemed like the right thing to do), I dropped to one knee, said a tearful farewell, and then left them where they lay. It strikes me now, looking back on it, as odd that their gear wasn't looted. In any case, I am now the only living survivor of Liams Own.

I spent the rest of the day alternately moping around, working on some improvements to the structure (like a scaffold that allows me to reach the roof top), and just thinking about what I should do next. Was thinking if I find some nice clothes, I'll go to the farm to the southwest and see what kind of folks are there. Or maybe I should go to that Vault I found earlier and see what's down there. I dunno. Now it's time to sleep. I'll decide in the morning what to do. Victoria out.
TheCheshireKhajiit
October 25, 2287

Well now that I'm on my own, I decided that the first thing I should do is determine whether or not the folks at that farm are likely to attack me. I went to Sanctuary Hills and rummaged around in some of the houses I hadn't explored yet, still keeping my distance from that robot. I know he had to have noticed me when I was attacked by some bloatflies but he didn't come after me. Some of these old robots can be friendly so tomorrow I may try and talk to it. Found a white t-shirt and some tan colored pants in pristine condition in one of the houses. Nice clothes, check.

With my new duds secured I went back to Red Rocket, cleaned the blue paint and grime from my face, bathed in the nearby lake (took some rads but I smell better, haha) and washed and arranged my hair. Put on my new clothes, which surprisingly fit, checked myself out in the mirror I hung above my sleeping bag (holy crap, I clean up fairly nice! Too bad I couldn't hide the scars on my face though), and made my way southwest. It was time for the wolf to meet the sheep.

I approached the farm acting as unthreatening as I could, praying to any wasteland gods listening that the dog behaved himself and didn't start a gunfight. The man there was suspicious at first, but my unthreatening posture and clean cut appearance convinced him I was ok, just as I intended. The guy's name is Abernathy. He lives there with his wife Connie, and their daughter Lucy. They have a cat, Maisie, and a brahmin named Clarabell. The animals would be a welcome source of meat if things get hard (though that cat is actually pretty friggin' cute!).

Abernathy told me they grow tatos and melons at the farm, and I noticed they have a water pump too. I took a swig from it and no one seemed to mind (hey, free clean water!). He also told me that they had an older daughter but apparently the dumb girl tried to stand up to some hardcases from an old military base not far from here. Asked me to get a locket back that they took from her corpse. If they turn out to be jerks and I have to kill them all, and the locket isn't worth much, I might even give it back to them. Score some points.

The daughter Lucy needed help picking melons and offered me 4 caps for each one I brought her. I turned on my charm and talked her into 5 caps, all the while wondering just how many caps she had on her and also how lucky this cute young thing got that she's standing here making deals with me and not Orson. The deals Orson made with folks (especially females) weren't usually very pleasant for the person he was making the deal with.

Connie clued me in on some other things too. She buys and sells supplies at Abernathy Farm and told me they eat what they need of their crops and trade the rest in a place called "Diamond City", which is apparently the biggest settlement in the whole Commonwealth. I should probably try to find this place soon and see what kind of services are there. Feeling a little... weird tonight and I should probably have a doctor look at me at some point.

The big structure that serves as the Abernathys' farmhouse has a roof top area that makes a good watchtower. To the southwest I spied some sort of industrial warehouse and to the west northwest is a little ranger cabin. The cabin seemed the least risky so I checked it out. Nothing but a few bloatflies, a skeleton on a mattress, some assorted junk, and a magazine. There was a tape in a suitcase near the skeleton. Might play it when I get back to RR.

After that I returned home and had a smoke while I collected my thoughts. I tried quitting them but the past few days have really stressed me out! Tomorrow I'll go and try talking to that robot over in Sanctuary Hills. Also, now that I feel confident the folks at Abernathy won't attack me, I'll probe further into the decent sized town to the southeast. After that is scouted and I feel secure, I'll check out what's in the Vault to the northwest. Victoria out.

She mentions killing a scaver as casually like she had just killed a bloatfly. laugh.gif

Are those raiders supposed to die because of some mod scenario or did something in fact attacked them?

Victoria 'disguised' herself really good - not a trace left of her raider brutality.

I wonder for how long will she let Abernathy's at life - probably as long as they'll be useful to her.
Acadian
Aww, sorry Victoria lost her friends. kvright.gif

But, as she says, she does clean up pretty well and this family she came across seems just the right thing for the moment.

Re: the Raiders at the power line
The mysterious God of the Console Command must have visited his wrath upon them biggrin.gif
Leaving them alive posed a narrative problem. You see, while the mod makes them non hostile, they will not interact with you in any meaningful way. Indeed, they will not even respond to you if you activate them. So, it wouldn't make much sense for the crew to rough it on the hill when they could have a much better home at Red Rocket, but with no way to send them there... Yes, Khajiit staged the massacre at the power line camp. This one supposes he could have used the creation kit to "move" them to Red Rocket, but honestly, Khajiit wanted to explore how Victoria reacts when she no longer has Trixie and the others to influence her; let her see that she has options to murdering anyone that gets in her way. Khajiit was partially inspired to do this playthrough based on some of the things our characters can overhear Raiders saying. Things like "It wasn't personal. It was him or me." and "I hope the next one dies clean.". Will she continue down her current dark path or will she regain a bit of her lost humanity and find redemption in helping others? Time will tell!

Phew, Khajiit writes a very intense tale today. I totally did not see her camp getting wiped out. Who did such a thing? Or what?

Edit: and yes I agree with the others, she does clean up really nicely. She looks like the result of one of those cheesy 'makeover' shows: Jenny Jones or Ricki Lake, ha ha. No seriously. what a change.

You are really just supposed to use your imagination about who or what killed the crew. The evidence seems to suggest either a technological faction such as the Brotherhood or Synths (because none of the gear was looted; Brotherhood and Synths both have access to far superior weapons, armor, and consumables), or Super Mutants (because they just don't give a crap). But who knows?! Maybe it was a mysterious stranger! The point is that Victoria doesn't and will never know exactly what went down at the power line camp. All she cares to know is that it happened and now she's got to survive on her own or with the help of any strangers she can mooch off of until she's strong enough to betray and take everything from them. Or at least that was her determination when she woke up on October 25th. Who knows if she'll stick to that or not...

Wow, two updates in one day. I would say too bad about Vickies Raider buddies. But well... the truth is the Commonwealth is better off without them in it.

Vick does clean up really good. She even looks respectable. Like Lopov, I wonder how long the Abernathy's will survive having Vickie as their neighbor. She is a lot like Loviatar, who also likes to play nice at first, but only get the lay of the land. Eventually the time always come for dinner... devilsmile.gif

Originally, Khajiit wanted to take the logs back to when Victoria was a 16yr old girl living her day to day life in Liams Own (skipping years in a similar manner to Fallout3's intro). Trixie was the owner of a diner and employed Victoria as a waitress. The others would have been in and out of her daily life. Eventually Raiders attacked the settlement and Trixie managed to lead 15 other people to safety (mostly diner patrons and staff). Then on the road you would've gradually become more and more savage in the means they took to survive. Khajiit believes this would've made them a bit more sympathetic, but in the end, this one deemed it unnecessary.

October 26th, 2287

Went and talked to that robot at Sanctuary Hills this morning. That thing is friggin' insane! Kept talking like it knew me from before the war! I told it that it must be malfunctioning, ha! It mentioned a man and a child might be hiding nearby but I thoroughly searched the whole settlement and found no one alive. Lucky for them that I didn't find them, if they really were there. Stupid robot. It also said someone in Concord might be able to help me. With what, it didn't explain. In any case, Codsworth (stupid friggin' name, but that's what the damn thing told me to call it) put me onto my next target, after I had checked out that Vault.

The Vault. That's where my day got friggin' weird. Ok, so I went back up to the Vault site and pushed the button to open the door. Well it wasn't a door, it was an elevator. Down and down it went, and at the bottom was the real door; all cog shaped and with 111 right in the middle. There was nothing alive inside except some radroaches. A bunch of them. Also a lot of skeletons laying about.

Coming off the ramp from the cog door, I saw two small doors; one to the left and one to the right. I took the left hand door which opened into a corridor and another door. That door opened into a longer corridor with a bunch of radroaches and a corpse that wasn't a skeleton like the others. This one died recently, probably from the roaches. I dealt with the roaches then checked out the corpse.

It was a woman, probably about 30 or so. She had brown hair and was wearing a vault suit like many of the skeletons laying about, only it was in way better shape. At first something really bothered me about this dead lady, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it hit me. This was the same lady that I saw in my dream the night our crew reached the outskirts of Boston! What the hell?! Was my dream actually a vision from this dead lady's past?! Anyway, all she had on her was her vault suit, a gold ring (that I later sold to Connie at Abernathy's), and an audio log. I popped it into my PipBoy and gave it a listen.

The audio log starts with what sounds like a recorded voice over a loud speaker saying something about "cryo stasis suspended", whatever that means, and then a brief pause. Next there is a woman's voice saying "This is the one." followed by a man's voice saying "Open it". You then hear mechanical sounds and hissing like something pressurized is opening. After the thing is opened a man coughs and a baby cries, then the first people try to take the baby from the man, both of whom were apparently inside what was opened. The first man threatens him, the guy still resists, and the next thing you hear is a gun shot. The first people take the baby and leave. The tape ends.

After listening to the tape, I left the corpse where it was and proceeded deeper into the vault, eventually coming to a couple of chambers full of strange freezer pods with frozen dead people in them. In one of the chambers, I found one of the pods open and right adjacent from that one, according to the records on the computer in the room, is the pod that contained the man and baby. Well, the man was still there. Frozen, and shot dead. Like the dead woman in the corridor, this man was in that dream I had. Poor lady must've seen her husband killed and baby snatched. Man, that's some messed up crap.

Well, I left the pods containing the dead people alone as it seemed like bad juju trying to get into them to search for valuables, and after I was done looting what little there was to loot in the vault, I went back to Red Rocket, figuring that was enough exploring for one day. Besides taking the aforementioned trip to Abernathy's to sell the gold ring I found on the woman's corpse, I patrolled the area near the Raider camp I took out on the 23rd to make sure they didn't have friends return. Caught one Raider jerk snooping around near where I stacked the bodies but killed'm pretty quickly. Tomorrow I'll investigate Concord and see what's there.

Victoria out.

Lol, there was a bit of weaving going on there. There is a certain NPC who uses chems (read: drugs) to get visions. Visions of the past, present, and future. Apparently in this "lore" it is believed others possess this ability too, when under the influence of chems.

It is neat to see Vault 111 from the perspective of an outsider, trying to figure out what happened there. Sort of like Adrian Monk piecing together the clues to a case. Except with much fewer phobias.

Yeah, guess it's just a way for "do gooders" or the curious to do the main quest. Khajiit is guessing that Victoria won't get to progress very far into faction quests, should she decide to leave her "lone wolf" life behind and join one of those. Minutemen would probably suit her better as Brotherhood is a bit too rigid, and she probably won't even see the Institute besides the attacks by Synths, and she couldn't care less about saving robot people. At the moment however, there is no evidence that Victoria will ever totally leave the Raider lifestyle behind. Even when she helps people, it's always with an eye for what she gains by doing so or to gain their trust to make betraying them easier.

Wow, she saw that lady from her dream? That's spooky. Sucks that she had to sell the woman's ring, but I guess that's how life in the harsh land of the Commonwealth is. sad.gif

Acadian, you don't know how spooky it is finding some of these vaults, especially the uninhabited ones. ohmy.gif I remember Cho Zenwahn found Vault 94 (I think) which had nothing but corpses inside. I thought it was creepy, but he wanted to thoroughly explore the place, just to have a place to rest, and also it was jam-packed full of supplies. It is interesting though that Bethesda thought to add places like this, full of nobody alive, but lots of lootable things.

You ever consider bringing Buffy into Fallout? I think she'd have a blast (pun) with energy weapons and grenades.

Yes, Khajiit joined Bethsoft in Sept. of 2009, according to their records. Back then I was mainly trying to get help understanding mods for TES3: Morrowind. I was playing Oblivion and Fallout3 on Xbox 360. Seems like half a lifetime ago!

If I get this correctly, you're using an alternate start so two dead NPCs are actually the parents of the supposed protagonist?

The screenie with the frozen dead guy is creepy.

I also hope that Victoria won't leave her career of a raider behind, we need some bad galz too. evillol.gif

Well the dead person in the corridor killed by roaches represents the vanilla player character. The dead person in the Cryo pod is the vanilla PC's spouse. Khajiit would go into more detail but it would be spoilerific. Suffice it to say, the events concerning the people in Vault 111 were fairly tragic, but while she realizes how messed up it is, Victoria really doesn't care about what happened there. With the vault thoroughly looted, its on to Concord for Victoria!

Interesting the way this is panning out for Vicky. I think I'd have preferred a story that started out a good bit away from Sanctuary, but it works for her, and is making in interesting!

We'll get the Concord area stuff out of the way and then it'll be up to Victoria on where she goes from there. Maybe she'll cut across the northern part of the map and find the sea, or perhaps she'll visit Diamond City. So many options!

I'm sure that FO 3 & 4 are great games. I can imagine Buffy might be a sniper if she ended up there. My love is for medieval fantasy though and there is plenty of that to enjoy for now though. tongue.gif

Oh okay, sir Acadian. Dang. I just know you'd enjoy FO. I'd also want to hear your impressions. I do appreciate that you at least get our perspectives, and seem quite immersed by them.

Yes, Khajiit joined Bethsoft in Sept. of 2009, according to their records. Back then I was mainly trying to get help understanding mods for TES3: Morrowind. I was playing Oblivion and Fallout3 on Xbox 360. Seems like half a lifetime ago!

Oh wow! A lot of people seem to have found Beth's forums because of modding, or because of the A-bomb. biggrin.gif I feel like I am one of the few people who just sort of showed up there for no reason. I had no idea Beth had its own forums, you see.

Anyways. Don't want to stray too far off-topic. This one can proceed with the story, whenever appropriate.

Honestly not sure when the next entry will get out. We've got a really big moral dilemma coming up that will set the tone for a good portion of the rest of the game. Khajiit is exploring different angles to it. Definitely want to do what's right for Victoria.

This is going to be a long one, log!

Today, Victoria conquered Concord! It was a busy day with lots of fighting. First thing I did was climb the little ridge northwest of town and survey that part of town for fools to kill. There were none in the immediate area so I entered the town and got some goodies from a ruined house. That's when it sounded like all hell broke lose further into town.

Cutting through the buildings, I came to Concord's main street and saw a crew of Raiders attacking a man in a funny hat on the balcony of a building at the end of the street. I assaulted the Raiders from the rear, didn't want them shooting my ass, and was about to pop the guy on the balcony when he called down and begged me to help him get some folks out of the building. Apparently there were more Raiders inside. He turned and went back inside and, thinking I might could profit from the situation, I decided to clear and loot the rest of the town first, then if the people were still alive when I was done, I'd make them pay me for my gun.

I looted the other buildings (two of which had some corpses arranged in really strange ways; not sure what the hell was going on there) and then checked out the sewers, fighting some molerats and a mirelurk while I was down there. In a sealed off area of the sewers, I could hear what sounded like a large creature's raspy breath. I decided not to investigate that further thinking whatever it was, it was best left alone. I'd find out how right I was later.

With the town looted and the gear dropped off at Red Rocket, I stopped for a smoke. It was afternoon. I went back to the building where the man was. Trixie taught me to never use the front door if I could help it so I explored around the building trying to find an alternate entrance. There is a crashed aircraft, a Vertibird as I'd later be told, on the roof of the building. It's tail section hangs over part of the neighboring church's roof. I climbed the stairs inside the church up to its bell tower, jumped down to the main roof, and with some acrobatics managed to get onto the tail of the Vertibird. The craft had caved in the roof of the big building, exposing a door to the interior. There was a minigun still attached to the craft, and by the door to the interior was a full set of power armor! Score! After these discoveries, I snuck inside the big building, carefully opening the door.

The building turned out to be a museum. In its main room, a gun battle was raging between funny hat jerk and the Raider crew. I had entered the building on the third floor, above and behind the Raiders, so taking the ones out in the main room was cake. I found some other Raiders in the side rooms and those I cut down with my sword. In the basement I also found a fusion core I could use for the power armor on the roof! With the Raider threat ended, I climbed the stairs to meet Funny Hat.

Funny Hat, who introduced himself as Preston Garvey, had a bunch of other people with him. A pitiful lookin' lot to be sure. They were from Quinzy which was destroyed and they traveled here intending to settle in Concord. That plan was abandoned when the Raider crew showed up. And there were more of them on the way. A small frickin' Raider army. I told Garvey he owed me for the help and the jerk sarcastically said he would pay after the Raiders in town were dealt with. Not wishing to fight an army of Raiders alone, I accepted his deal.

Garvey and a big dude named Sturges laid out a plan to use the power armor and minigun in the fight, but I chose to simply snipe from the rooftop. I went to the very top peak of the museum's roof, and Garvey took up his former position below me on the balcony. I then picked out a Raider with white hair, and popped him. The others recklessly charged the building but they were easy enough to end. We killed maybe 10 of them when there was a loud roar coming from a sewage access hatch. A deathclaw burst from there and started tearing the remaining Raiders apart, and then turned its attention to us after the Raiders were no more. It couldn't reach us on the roof though. I put about 5 or 6 rounds from my bolt action rifle into its head and it went down fairly easy. Victory!!

Garvey went back inside the building but I popped the fusion core into the power armor, got in, and jumped off the roof, the impact from the landing shook the ground! The street was a scene of carnage. There were so many dead Raiders laying around, some barely recognizable as humans after what the deathclaw did to them. I over encumbered my power armor with their gear twice over, but with the armor's reinforcements I at least would not hurt myself getting all of the stuff back to Red Rocket. It was 11pm by the time I got the loot back home so I resolved to go back to the museum in the morning. If Garvey and them are still there, they better cough up some kind of payment!

Victoria out.

It sounds like Victoria the Raider is becoming Victoria the Mercenary. Still a far cry from a Paladin though...

Oh cool, was Godzilla down there in the sewers? I never thought to go down there before clearing out the Museum. Nor did I ever think to go in the church first and jump down onto the museum roof to get the armor either.

Awww, Vicky didn't go down in the street and slug it out womano-a-deathclawo with Godzilla? For shame!

1. Well, Khajiit feels Raiders are a lot like wolves. When running with a pack, a wolf can be vicious and aggressive but when alone they tend to be a lot more cautious, even perhaps bonding with humans. Of course, some are rabid also, and will always be vicious. Victoria is without her pack, so while She is being careful about who, when, and where she fights, she is still very much a wolf. Believe this one when he tells you that Victoria will be looking out for weakness in any community she comes into contact with.

2. Yes. It was the room with the chain on the inside of the door connecting to the fenced in area with the dead Brahmin and mirelurk. If you go in there after the Battle of Concord, there is a hole in the chainlink fence that's not there if you go before.

3. Waste of resources. Power armor gets damaged, bullets and fusion core are used up, and possibly medical supplies too when she got injured (keep in mind we play on Survival so the damage we take and deal out is greatly increased).

Looks like Victoria made a really good choice to work out a way to enter that building from above. That gave her great perches for some effective sniping, it seems. goodjob.gif

Lol, it was fun doing that part in a different order! Khajiit wishes Beth would implement a climbing system in their games. Nothing like Assassin's Creed where you can scale the wall of a big building, but something simpler à la Dishonored where you can jump and pull yourself up onto ledges. The leap from the church roof to the Vertibird tail is fairly treacherous with the current system.

Victoria's been involved in some heavy action!

I like armor a lot, from what I understand, armor in FO4 can be combined by several pieces?

The deathclaw finished what the wolf started. evillol.gif One more question - is the guy with the funny hat killable? I mean, is it like in New Vegas where you can kill anyone and as such fail quests, or are NPCs in FO4 essential?

Not without mods and a certain line added to the .ini . Khajiit really hates this about important characters. This one gets that the world is really dangerous for NPCs, and protected status (can only be killed by the PC) works fine for them. Why do they have to make important characters unkillable? If Khajiit makes a conscious decision to kill an important character, then he should be able to do so and live with the consequences (unfinished quests, etc.).

Not a lot of action today.

Woke up and made my way back to the museum. When I went through the front door, Garvey and his crew were gathered near the entryway. They apparently decided to spend the night. Garvey was trying to act all buddy buddy but I told him straight up that they meant nothing to me. Despite this, he did cough up some caps and some fusion cell ammo. The old lady with them gets "visions" whenever she gets high off chems. I kept it to myself that I saw something once too after taking the chems Trash had.

After talking with Garvey and them, I went about my business looting the rest of the museum. Meanwhile they decided that they would head to Sanctuary Hills. Now that really pissed me off! I was planning on using that as a main base if I ever got a big enough crew! Garvey did invite me to join them, so I decided to bide my time and see if they had any useful information about creating infrastructure for settlements that might come in handy later.

With the loot from the museum safely transported to Red Rocket, I went to Sanctuary Hills to see what was going on. Garvey was strutting around like a big shot while the big guy Sturges hammered on stuff. The others wandered around aimlessly. Talked to Garvey again and he unwittingly put me onto my next raiding target, a settlement called Tenpines Bluff. I'll have to check it out tomorrow. He also said Sturges needed help getting the settlement up and running so I put on my "helpful" face and went to see him.

Sturges needed help with a lot. First he asked me to put some beds in one of the houses. I threw down some old ratty sleeping bags I found in the other houses. Next he wanted a water source and told me how to make a water pump. This is good! Now I could put one in at Red Rocket! Food and defenses were next so I put in some additional crops with that jerk Marcy Long tending them, slapped up some shoddy guard posts and assigned that weakling Jun Long as a guard. When it comes time to kill them all, these "defenses" won't be an issue.

Having learned all I could from them, I went back to Red Rocket. By that time it was sun down. I put in a water pump of my own and filled any empty bottles I had with clean water. Tomorrow I'll go check out Tenpines. That big satellite station that Abernathy told me about is in that direction too, so I'm going to rest up. Should be a lot of fighting tomorrow.

Victoria out.
SubRosa
That is similar to how it went with Loviatar. Except with her it ended about half way, with her telling Garvey to get stuffed. She did find Tenpines Bluff on her own. She ate the settlers there. A minute later a caravan showed up, and she bought a shipment of ballistic fiber from them. So it was a happy time for all. smile.gif laugh.gif

Renee
Very nice, sounds like you've got a settlement, even if Victoria is passed about someone else taking the one she really wanted.

Who is Garvey by the way?

Garvey is the one on the far left in the "Garvey and his crew" pic. Preston Garvey, last surviving member of the Minutemen faction. Pretty much your standard issue Bethesda do-gooder.

Lol, Victoria has already played through October 29th and "discovered" Tenpines. Was going to do a twofer today but time got away from Khajiit so maybe tomorrow.

Garvey and his crew sound like a nuisance for Victoria, and now they even moved to Sanctuary Hiils. Looks like Victoria is more or less decided about what do do with them in the future... wink.gif
