Oops, I missed posting the Preakness! We have a chance for a Triple Crown winner this year!!!! What a race, you couldn't even see for the fog and rain; but once again Justify comes out clean as a whistle = ran wire to wire in front!
https://www.nbcsports.com/video/justify-wins-143rd-preaknessCome on Justify, just one more race !!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOT !!!!!!!!!!!
Got money on it mALX?

If Justify wins, it won't pay but a dollar; but of course I want to see another Triple Crown winner happen whether I win money or not.
Justify can't be counted out, but he is a wire to wire horse and this will be his first time running a mile and a half = that is a HUGE distance to go wire to wire, a lot of pressure.
That said, he did go wire to wire in the Kentucky Derby, which was a mile and 1/4; so he definitely has a shot to make it. (But he wasn't up against Tenfold in the Derby; who is a "come from behind, distance " horse). Tenfold is showing 12 to 1 right now in the betting, and I want to lay something down on Tenfold to win the Belmont as my longshot pick.
Justify beat Good Magic in the Derby by 2 1/2 lengths. Good Magic was barely driving at the finish, but was under whip - however, his jockey had him all over the place; he went way wide, then back close to the inside = meandering; which wasted a lot of time the horse could have been closing in on Justify. That said, Good Magic's drive did not look impressive at the end, but he did rally. Good Magic came in 4th in the Preakness; which shows he likes distances a bit better than short races; so he may be among the first four; but ... eh, not willing to bet money on him winning, but I think he'll give a good race.
BUT = That said, Justify went head to head with Good Magic throughout the Preakness (but was under whip at the finish) - and the Preakness is only 1 mile and 3/16. He responded, but was not driving at the wire = he would have been third if that race had been just a little longer.
Both Tenfold (who is a come from behind distance runner) and Bravazo (who stayed mid pack the whole Preakness and then made his move, but was driving at the finish line) were closing fast on Justify at the Preakness; which is only 1 mile and 3/16 long. If the Preakness had been a longer race; not sure if Justify would have been able to hold off Tenfold or Bravazo.
Now Bravazo was 8 lengths off the win in the Kentucky Derby (came in 6th); so really not sure if he will be able to handle a mile and a half either.
So even though I really hope Justify will win; my bet is going to be on Tenfold.
I would probably wheel Tenfold with Justify and Good Magic for win/place/show - but I haven't looked into the other horses in the race yet at this point. (so withholding judgement till I see what their stats are).

And the real Derby happened this weekend. There will be no Triple Crown winner, as the 2000 Guineas winner was beaten, making the St Leger result moot.
Don't you hate when that happens?
